OK i have tried to find the answer to this question i have a S4 M919V ( Videotron/Wind) on 4.4.2 (M919VVLUFNB5) And I'm currently with virgin mobile (Bell) i have evething set up to receive LTE on the phone. the sim card is LTE ready but i have no way of getting the phone to receive it.
I've tried to go into setting ( phone dial *#2263#) of that but nothing worked.
I don't mind rooting my phone but would love to get LTE without having to sell my phone and buying another one

have you tried the settings here?
Settings/More networks/mobile networks
Your Network mode should show LTE,WCDMA (auto connect)
if not, tap on the network mode and select the LTE/WCDMA (auto connect) option and back all the way out.
Turn on airplane mode for about 30 seconds and then turn it back off and see what your results are.
You need to be SURE that LTE reception is possible where you are trying this. After all, no matter how good your hearing is, you won't hear me talking if you're out of earshot, right? LOL

Do you have any S5 apps installed?
If using a build prop mod you can lose your LTE settings in "networks".

Thats strange, this issue has been encountered with rooted phones running stock/custom roms while running some mods.
You may have to do a factory reset, or stop by a TMOBILE store and let them check it out.

I don't know to be honest.
I got a legit lte sim car from virgin mobile because they offer lte and i've read that the t-mobile phone (m919) supports bell 's LTE frequencies

Could be that it doesn't support LTE from your carrier.. I think it may be capable to support LTE but its disabled on that model.. I've seen people flash M919 modems and gotten LTE to work. Just make sure you do some research, and more research if you device to do this

I've been rooting my phone as if it was a normal t-mobile m919 but I tried searching for into to see it there was a way to simply make my V (m919V) disappear and solve all my problems but nothing yet I know you can but as far as warranty, brick and risks go I have not found much information regarding this issue and that why I started this post

OK I've done some research and it seem that the m919v has the lte hardware to run the frequency 700

And that virgin mobile (bell's network)
(bell is one of the biggest telecommunications companies in canada)
has this frequency on their network

The only thing is that the lte frequency off 700 was lunched in Ontario last month and I'm in Montreal
But the fact that t-mobile only has 1700 and that virgin uses this here means that the phone isn't the problem and with this information, i've concluded that it a software issue

So the question would be is There a way I can flash radio (baseband) without having everything getting messed up
And will i lose my data.
ive done a nandroid backup just in case. The phone is also rooted used T-Mobile files

I just recently bought a locked Rogers Galaxy Note II i317M and unlocked it using cellunlocker(dot)net; however, I am not getting a LTE signal on Bell for some reason — it's always just "4G".
I talked to a rep and he said that it should work since im in a LTE covered area. He also said that he can't help me further since I didn't buy the phone from Bell .
Anyone know what's happening here? Did the unlocking mess it up? Is that even possible?

What are your APN settings?
Bell does not have a different apn for lte and hspa. After flashing some at&t roms, I am not getting lte at all. But the stock room is okay .
I'm on Rogers and couldn't get on LTE. It turned out to be my old SIM. Rogers replaced it and voila, LTE. Not sure if Bell has a similar issue with older SIMs or not, but maybe it's worth a try.
i flashed the Rogers modem. Works now.

Ya. Its the same with Bell. You need to get an LTE sim card otherwise you'll be stuck with H+

I have a corporate unlimited data plan from a while ago I get hspda+ all the time but never got lte. Im just curious do you need like a specific lte plan or you just receive lte in the coverage area?

Sometimes changing the apn to proxy.bell.ca instead of pda.bell.ca would fix the issue. . Although tried both ways on my SGN2 - both worked out well..

Iniquity0411: all the older UMB, UNPDA and any other unlimited data plans are not eligible for LTE. If you want all the nitty gritty details, you should be able to find relevant posts on HowardForums.

hi guys i recently flashed miui for my note 2 and noticed im only getting 3g, my APN settings look the same and ive also played around with them but always end up with either no internet or only 3g. any suggestions?
As a canadian multi-carrier cell phone salesman you do need a data plan, sim, and phone all to be lte enabled for lte service. If you are on a plan roughly two years or older you most likely did not get upgraded to lte data. This sounds like your issue here, and you would have to go talk to your corporate to have the plan changed over. I'm not sure if its a personal under a corporate (this case changing should be easy) or a giant bucket plan, in which case good luck.
Rogers is the only canadian carrier to have an lte APN.
and lastly your bell micro sim should clearly be labeled LTE, and for others FYI Telus sim cards should be V31, and rogers I believe its B010 if memory serves me right.
On the note 2 lte is already a default setting if already enabled.
well i guess then miui for the note 2 is not an lte rom because ive checked and rechecked my apn settings, and i have all the above that u mentioned, the stock rom (4.1.1) had lte but when i flashed miui all im getting is 3g.

I understand that this phone has the same hardware and supports the ATT LTE bands. I am done with locked bootloaders, I need confirmation someone is using this phone on ATT Network w LTE successfully without any hacks..
Any other feedback will be great (call quality, radio performance on ATT network)

I am currently using the phone on at&t. LTE works. Just make sure you set your APN right. I just disabled WiFi calling because it is not supported.

I'm considering buying the TMO variant to use on AT&T as well and I have a few questions related to this topic:
Would service reception be restricted to just LTE or can the T-Mobile S4 still receive AT&T's E, 3G, etc as well when used on AT&T's network?
Also, and I'm sure this is dependent on the answer to my first question, would the T-Mobile S4 work with the AT&T 3G Microcell?

hard to answer; it really depends on the area, but for the most part im pretty confident in saying t-mobiles LTE is faster.

I've been using the T-Mobile version on AT&T for a few days. I unlocked using the debug menu instructions in this forum, setup the AT&T LTE APN and set the preferred network to LTE. It works fine on LTE, hspa, etc.
Speed test results were 53Mb down, 19Mb up, 66ms ping in Raleigh, NC.
I gave away my microcell with my POS iPhone because the Samsung phones performed OK without it. So, I can't answer whether the T-Mobile version will work correctly with a microcell.

Hi all,
I have a Galaxy S4 I9500, I keep my brightness at full all the time. When I finish playing games even "subway surfer" for 10 minutes, and exit to the desktop, I find that brightness is lowered alittle bit & increase gradually to the previous state which is full brightness (from 5 to 10 seconds). Could this be a result of that when playing games, the device uses the 1.6 quad core CPU and upon exit it takes alittle time (those 5 to 10 seconds) to shift to the 1.2 quad core CPU?

So it seems this is the perfect phone to use on AT&T due to all that bootloader problems and crap on the AT&T version.
So folks still running fine without issues with this device on AT&T's network? I know LTE bands over lap so those are fine and the specs for the other frequencies all line up too but any problems with any data or voice stuff at this point after more time has passed? Including text and media messaging?

I had left an area with LTE coverage before I was able to network unlock, so I can't comment as to how LTE is working... but I've had no problems using it on Edge or 3G, texting/mms, etc. It even works flawlessly on my Microcell with no modifications other than the network unlock.

Which phone are you getting? The T-mobile version or the Google S4? I read online that the Google version of S4 is the same as the T-mobile version. I'm a T-mobile customer but I want to follow you using the Embryo rom on your new phone selection and hopefully get wifi-calling feature. I'm currently using the Embryo rom on my T989. Thanks.
adding an APN ... issues
lemme ask what will undoubtedly be a noob question. i've unlocked my T-Mo S4. confirmed. i popped in my AT&T iPhone 5's SIM card and boot up. i see that i have a signal, am able to make and receive phone calls. but no data. when i look at the APN, i'm seeing Cingular APN. what gives? i thought the phone would auto-detect and attach to the correct APN and i'd be good-to-go. thoughts? do i need to manually add the APN? I have all of the info necessary. when i try to add the APN, i am able to get to the proper menu, add all of the info. however, when i try to "save" the info, it never shows up as an APN for me to select. so whatever info i've just entered was never saved.

EDIT: turns out ATT used a 3g only sim car when they activated my account. LTE is up and running smooth on my phone now!
I ordered a Rogers i257m to use here on att in the states. After setting it up I only get hspa+ and no lte even with updated apn settins.
First thing I did was rooted it with vroot, updated superuser.
After that I threw on twrp through odin.
Then I used regionlock away app to unlock the phone. (this is the part im skeptical about)
All was well while I was playing with stock rooted rom, it shows me on 4g (h+) and I was happy with data speeds and getting used to everything. I never thought about questioning if I were on lte since it said 4g.
I flashed slimkat and carbon 4.4's and both get only HSPA no plus and no lte. bluetooth also does not work on those roms. I tried flashing both 4.4 aosp kernels with no luck there.
SO I figured id go to sammobile and download the stock 4.2.2 image from rogers and toss it through odin. rooted with the rootkit this time and flashed twrp back after, still same problems.
WHAT GIVES?? I feel like I have tried everything possible, does anyone know any tricks to get me up to at least 4g and bluetooth on aosp!?
hours on the phone with att and they give me the answer that if teh phone is not an att phone origianlly you cannot get lte as it is not recogfnized as being compatible in their sytem.. i call bs, anyone else getting lte?
I got an unlocked Telus SGH-I257M (I presume it was unlocked with a code) and it worked fine once I changed the APN. It could be a problem with regionlock away but I'm not sure.

Yes, it does get LTE for sure. I believe regionlock away has an option to revert the changes it made. In order to unlock your phone the normal way you'd need to buy an unlock code. As I said I bought the phone unlocked already so I can't really help with that..
EDIT: Also keep in mind I an talking about LTE on the stock ROM. Other ROMs for the I9195 could have issues with the I257 variant phones?

An update to the thread. I was able to get LTE after borrowing an ATT s3 from a friend to add to my account and take to the store. they narrowed it down to a 3g sim card and not an lte one... go figure.

That's odd, mine is unlocked and I use Tmobile but I dont have those problems... maybe it's the modem, could be reception... sorry to head you're having issues dude.

I'd verify the APN and make sure you have the most recent modem flashed.

First things first, what solutions have you tried? If we don't know what you've tried it won't help much. Also what method did you use to unlock it?
If you used the free unlock then you have the J2 modem - that's the earliest stock AT&T modem. Since you were able to downgrade, I'm assuming you can upgrade too. Depending on your location (whether t-mobile is using the refarmed AT&T bands or using their own) you can use the latest modem or you can search for a t-mobile modem.
But speed is what matters, not what icon is displayed. Check the phone status under the settings menu to see the actual network type you're connected to.
I have a ATT sgh-i747 4.4.2 KitKat unlocked and I use for Carrier Claro PR the connection to 4G lost in a few minutes from start up I can not do a call or use internet only wifi, I put apn from Claro PR LTE but nothing, I go to ServiceMode and in band selection are in Automatic I change to GSM all and works but in edge network for internet too slow but I can do any call, then I change to WCDMA all but not work I use WCDMA 850mhz only this works 4G, I use LTE all but only internet connection, what I can do to have all connection works including LTE. HI Doc thanks for respond, I bought this phone used and phone have version 4.3 with PhilipTouch Recovery but system not have root or SuperSU then I flash stock recovery to use the update.cfg rename it to.zip and now are 4.4.2 stock rom official but in 4.3 same issue with network, I copy from my fathers phone att s3 NVfiles with QPST and I flashed to mine and put again my imei but nothing, what do you really think what happened in you're experience?
Im not really sure, but since you bought it used you should check to make sure the imei isnt blacklisted.
Does your fathers S3 work on the same network? Try swapping SIM cards. Test your card in his device and your device with his card.

My fathers phone is from ATT network, but I put my imei from my broken phone Galaxy s3 and is not black listed and is from Claro PR Network but let me see if my father give me again his phone because he don't want any body touch it and i dont know if is unlocked, I had to beg, and it was a miracle that gave me the phone to extract from his phone the nvfiles last time, you know if I can try something else DocHoliday??? If you changed the original IMEI that's exactly why you are experiencing problems.
Anything but the original one assigned to the device will most likely cause problems. Even if its from another device that's the same model.
