[Q] Galaxy Nexus won't root/update - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

My Galaxy Nexus is stuck on android 4.1.1,Odin won't recognize it due to the fact that it's a Nexus device,as well as Odin.
OTA update won't work either, when ever i try to check it just says Up to date,i've also tried Deleting the Google framework thing, didn't work either.
Rooting isn't working as well, tried several root kits, including the Galaxy Nexus Tool Kit that i've found here,as well as Others.
Any help ?
General Information :
Board : Tuna
Device : Maguro
Product : yakjujp
GSM model

Dont use toolkits. Just do it manually garuanteed to work.

It is a LOT easier than you may think. Just take your time and read carefully a couple times and let it sink in, it should all start to make sense fairly quickly

Sprint user question for developers

I know it's common knowledge that we can't flash current ROMS due to not being able to make calls after (I made that mistake myself, but luckily had a nandroid to restore).
Is there anything I can do with a stock rooted sprint galaxy nexus to help with development so that we can enjoy some of the great work you developers do? I'm not an expert but I am comfortable with adb, really I've only used it once (to root this phone), I'm just not shy about tinkering. Anything I can do to help please let me know.

I was begging for one the day folks got their Nexus. They are in the General Sprint Galaxy Nexus thread.
I'm not asking for an eta; but are we close to seeing ROM development for the Sprint gn?

[Q] Triple Checking that i am looking in the right directions

So i am finally pulling the trigger and getting the nexus. I am not new to XDA flashing ROMs or even development in general but i have learned the hard way it is better to be safe than sorry. Anyway I live in San Francisco and will be buying the GSM version from the google play store so i will just fire off my questions.
1. so this would be where i go to unlock root and flash a custom recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1392310 and on the list my phone would be option 7 correct ???????
2. are there any steps that i should be careful on or just take extra care???
3. Any useful tips in general i will be testing other ROMs and Kernels but will probably end up using AOKP and Franco kernel since i know him from a previous phone.
Thank you in advance and anything you think of that i didn't

+1 billion.
At least when you do it manually you will know what went wrong and at what step and if you need to ask for help it will be a lot easier for you to get it of you have that information.
And as a bonus you get to learn!
Learning is fun!
There's nothing wrong with the program. It works flawlessly but I know most people on here like to do it the manual way.

The script is a horrible way to do things. It's slower than using advice and fastboot directly, unless you are a beginner in which case it still sucks because it's much better to actually take the time to learn how stuff works.... makes it easier to fix things later on.

One Toolkit argument:
If you "break" your phone in a week/month/year/whatever...
And come back requesting help...
We're MORE than glad to help.
However, you'll find the process of diagnosis and repair to go much more smoothly when you have ADB/Fastboot set up.
Which is really 99% of the work in unlocking/rooting manually.
If you have a bricked device you're
a ) in a panic
b ) not going to be able to tell if the actual ADB/Fastboot set up isn't working...
Or if your device is broken to the point where it won't be recognized even on a working set up.
KNOWING you have ADB/Fastboot set up correctly is, again, %99 percent of fixing your phone.
If you come in and say "adb devices" doesn't show anything it could be TWO possible reasons, rather than one.
Oh...
And learning ftw.
And the fact that adb pushing items to our MTP phones is sometimes easier than using drag-n-drop.
And...you might at one point need this ability to unbrick =].
Thanks for the help guys any baseband you would recommend I'm in San Francisco just want the best coverage

Safest, stablest, relatively easiest Jelly Bean root

I searched what I felt might be similar to my question, but nothing really similar came up. So here I am!
Now, as great as ICS is, I really don't feel like waiting for Big Red to push out the update (whenever they do). I'll try not to meander. My question is a bit specific and I'd love to get a personalized response instead of searching for a while. Like the TT says...what is the safest, stablest, relatively easiest way to get Jelly Bean on my phone? It would also be nice if it's a pure root/rom/whatever it's called If there are changes, hopefully they're minor. It would also be sweet if the root is recent.
Help would be much appreciated. I plan on coming back and not just making this a one time post

because i read this forum and see so many threads with the title "HELP MY PHONE IS BRICKED!"
with the body of it saying "i used such and such toolkit and i have no idea what happened"
by doing it the manual way, you know what it did and what is going on.
Gotcha Maybe I will just do it the manual way then.

You're missing several "somethings". How did you find the answer last time?
maybe i meant to say is there an su.zip or superuser.apk for it...
it's up to you if you want to answer it or keep being anything but helpful. either way, i'll find my answer sooner or later. i know it's a little hard to believe but not everyone eats, sleeps and breathes android dude. the last thing i loaded on my phone was the 4.0.2 OTA update. it's definitely been a while so i really don't remember where i looked.
So I downloaded the factory image and used the flash-all.sh script as instructed by Google. I was running a custom-build 4.2.2 that had some issues, plus I wanted the new radios. Everything worked fine and dandy as expected, but just giving everyone a heads up: upon first boot, when I was setting up my WiFi and inputting my G-Mail credentials, I heard some low-faint music coming from my ear piece. Turning the volume up, I could tell that the phone had auto-dialed that Verizon "activate" number, I guess to refresh what it needed to refresh. It took all of 20-30 seconds and was finished before I was done with the setup. I was worried because I remember people saying not to do this with an LTE device, but it seems to be OK.
This is the first time I can remember or noticed the phone doing this upon returning to a stock state. Don't know if it's new behavior or what.

What battery issues are you referring to? The battery life will be determined by your use. If you have abnormally bad battery life it could be an app with a wake lock or you could just have a bad battery.

[Q] Update to 4.3

Hello there. I am new user of galaxy nexus, I got android 4.2.1 . and I got heavy lags, I think this is TRIM problem, and I saw 4.3 solved this problem. But my phone won't update. Always says that system is up to date (Clearing data in Google services framework won't help). So I can't find exactly way to update my phone. And another question why there is no factory image for 4.2.1 even if I using it? Maybe that's a bug that I updated to 4.2.1 and the reason why I can't update to 4.3.
Maybe your build is yakjuxw.

If I will install takju replace yakjuwx, will my phone work properly, and will it work with Ukrainian GSM carriers?
Why wouldn't it?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
I thought takju were designed for USA, and will not work out-USA. On your opinion is it fine to install it instead yakjuwx?
Have you read the threads regarding the conversion?
The only difference is the inclusion of Google wallet. Nothing about it would cause it not to work outside the US.
If takju didn't work outside the US, there wouldn't be so many people using it or recommending it. Just go do your own research. The answers are out there for you to read.

Sorry for annoying
Its a hard phone to kill. You can always reload stock and relock the boot loader. People worry too much about this. When you have a nexus you shouldn't worry so much about modifying it.
