[Q] Get rid of "Turn on HTC Backup" - T-Mobile HTC One (M8)

Every time I install an app, I get a pop up window that asks me if I want to "Turn on HTC Backup". Anybody know how to get rid of this silly thing? It has a "Don't ask me again" box which seems to have no effect.
I can't uninstall the app or find any way to shut it off. I am running Venom rom, rooted and s-off.
Thanks!

[Q] Android Market Force Closs on launch, everytime

I have a HTC EVO 4G with a problem .
Every time I try to open Android Market I get the following error:
Sorry.
The application Market (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
This started a couple of days ago. I can't seem to find which application did it or if it was an application that I installed that did me in.
I would like to run a log cat on my phone, but need to install it on my laptop first.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks d[~_~]b
is it rooted? if so what kernel/rom?
if its unrooted then go to
settings -> applications -> All -> Market -> Clear cache/data
Usually works on some applications.
I'm trying to help him but I can't figure it out either.
He hasn't rooted the phone or anything. It's completely stock.
And that was the first thing I recommended, to clear data in the settings and force stop the app and reopen it. But he keeps having it stop on him.
I know there's something called logcat or something to help record the error log entirely, but I don't know what it is/how it works exactly since I've never needed it. Can anyone suggest anything or help?
Bump

Is Titanium backup only for rooted phones? I haven't rooted my EVO yet and a little scared to do it. Are there steps to follow to root it correctly so I don't break it more than it is?

[Q] Disable VISIONary?

So, I ran VISIONary, played with it for a while, and I have a question that I can't seem to find anywhere.
I clicked the button to have it autorun at boot, but I can't find a way to turn that off.
If I click the VISIONary icon, it autocloses and shows a message saying This device is already rooted.
Is there a way to unroot my phone?
Thanks in advance for all your help.

To straight out unroot the phone, uninstall the app and reboot your phone.
To just lose root but keep the app, have VISIONary not run on boot. Reboot the phone, and when VISIONary runs, you can click the button you previously clicked to have it auto-run on boot, and it will turn off the run on boot. Reboot again, and you are free of root,
Go to: Settings/Applications/Manage Applications/VISIONary/Clear data
This will delete any user preferences (e.g. run on boot)…easy

Be sure you're selecting "All" at the top of the "Manage Applications" screen.

[Q] Uninstall Wi-Fi Calling that survives reboot?

Hey
So I want to get rid of the Wi-Fi Calling app, since I have no use for it whatsoever...
I can find and (seemingly) uninstall the .apk
I read that the package is something like "com.android.kineto" so I tried to uninstall it, but it wouldn't let me.
The app won't be in my app drawer anymore, but when I reboot it's there again!
Any ideas on how to PERMANENTLY get rid of it?
Thanks
Did you go to /system/app and delete the .apk file (or rename it to .apk.bk)?
Use titanium backup to delete it.
HTC Vision S-OFF CM6.1 Stable Oc'd to 1.5ghz on Pershoots Kernel
I removed it (at least I thought I did) from /system/app
before you removed it, did you adb remount your phone to enable rw on /system, since it is normally a read only file system?
Yup, mounted it as writable, and as long as I don't reboot the .apk seems to be removed. I got rid of other /system apps like the Twitter and File Manager app without any problems, but for some reason the Wi-Fi Calling one causes trouble..
Hello use titanium backups force remove. It does all that for you and survives reboot.

I believe the TB method has worked, thanks!
Was going to pop this same question in the Vibrant thread when this popped out in the suggested matches. AND it worked wonders.
God knows how much I hated this app and wanted it out of my Vib, what a battery drainer!
hi im trying to also get Rid Of the Wifi Calling App by using the Force Remove Option on Titanium Backup
but i get a error saying this
E:unknown volume for path [SYSTEM:app/MS-HTCVISION-KNT20-02.APK]
E:Cant mount SYSTEM:app/MS-HTCVISION-KNT20-02.APK
Installation aborted.
anybody know how to successfully remove this app? it really kills my battery
TB does not work for me for some odd reason. So I tried to force remove but when it boots up it heads to clockwork and it says aborted

You're using the wrong force remove option. Simply tap on the app listing, then tap on uninstall. Don't hold the app listing.

What he said... the other method doesn't quite work and seems fishy as hell.

Easiest way (if rooted)
Go to Root Explorer (if you have it)
go to /system/app
click the "Mount R/W" button at the top
Scroll down to WiFi-Calling.apk
Long press and rename to WiFi-Calling.apk.bk
Then hold down the power button to reboot
the normal uninstall in works TB works much better than the recovery one...

[Q] Titanium Backup, does it actually work?

I had a rooted Hero before this and now I have rooted Continuum...I've hit "Problems?" and downloaded the busybox update.......I select Force Remove App.....Titanium Backup says my phone will restart twice....but it only restarts once, and the program I'm trying to remove is still there. I get no error messages.
I had similar experiences on the Hero. What am I missing? I would really like to get rid of this extra crap Verizon put on my phone.

I will say this once, and only once. Do not uninstall bloatware.
If you do delete it, you will not be able to get any OTA updates, but yes it does work. You can ask around, there a few people the deleted it, and they were stuck on DJ20 for a while.
Rather than uninstalling bloatware, why not just freeze it with TiBu? It will have the same effect, but then, you just need to thaw all the bloat when an update is released, and then you can update, and just refreeze whatever is there that you don't want again.
I am an idiot. I finally realized what I've been doing wrong with TB. I was always long-pressing the programs in the backup/restore view. It brought up a window of options but never what I thought I should see. Quick tapping an item is what I apparently NEVER thought to do until now. What an imbecile!
By the way, the freezing suggestion is nice, but you have to pay for the app to do that.
Thanks to the dev work, I'll revert to my former method of backing the whole ROM up with CMR and flashing a new clean ROM.
thanks for the responses
