...it's a bit more slippery to handle than I had hoped, and doesn't seem much better than the bare N5. If they had just textured the finish a bit it might have been better. The ideal case for feel was the Otterbox Commuter on my old Galaxy, but of course that's not an option. OTOH, I don't like the cases that have a sticky-rubber feel to them since that also makes them hard to get out of my pocket!
Any alternate suggestions?

If I really I have problems with this case I'll have to think about getting the black case in a few weeks.

I also have the white spigen slim armor, I took off the "white armor" part and just use the TPU case it holds nicely and fits nicer than any case I've used. Also very durable (have dropped about 5x since owning the phone in various surfaces with 0 damage to the phone) Try using it without the armor part
I have the black n5 and the black slim armor. They look great together, and it's not slippery. Perfect combo, if you weren't familiar with the phone you could barely tell it has a case on it. I love the slim armor.

I got the black one and the bright red (orange) which are both soft to the touch
I wanted to replace the slim armor (black) with the neo hybrid. What a mistake the neo hybrid is so slippery compared to the slim armor, also the buttons are way too sensitive. I went back to the slim armor.

Thanks, I actually switched from the slim armor to the cruzerlite bugdroid just because the slim armor was starting to feel a bit bulky. I took off the hard plastic part and it does feel a lot better. Still a bit bulky but we'll see.
So the slim armor definitely has better grip than the neo hybrid? I just bought the hybrid and I'm sending it back, WAY too slick for me.

I thought at first that my Slim Armor (gold colored model) was too slick, but I think that it might have had to do with the initial slickness of the plastic -- mould release agent, etc. -- and after a couple weeks carrying it around it's no longer an issue.
Do you guys think the armour part is dyed? Would the paint come off it it was?

I went with the black slim armor and I'm pretty happy with it. Much better than the neo hybrid.
I'll order mine on Monday and I'm really looking forward to test the look and feeling of the case. First impression by pictures is a very good one. Hopefully it will be.

hey all
does anybody know about ultra thin cases besides of Spingen?
Thanks!
There's also the Ringke Slim case, aside from that though, no idea.
Ive got a Ringke slim on the way
Ordered the diztronic. It was my favorite on n4. We will see how it is on the nexus 5. I like that it surrounds the edges all around compared to some other brands.

I'll give that a try.
What I don't like about Spigen and Ringke is that both does not completely cover the top and bottom of the phone.

Just received my Ringke Slim case. Thinnest case I have seen yet. I always bought Diztronic TPU cases in the past but want something that did not add any bulk and kept the look of the device but still offered some protection.
I took some pictures of the case next to my Nexus 4 Diztronic case. My phone is being delivered today so I will add some pics later with the phone it it. This case is thin! I will have to see what I think about it not covering the top and bottom but sonce the corners will be ptotected it should be just fine.

I got ringke too looks great long wait to uk though.
I just went ultra-cheap ass way with thin case.
QuickSand Matte Hard Skin Cover Case
Then again, last 5 of my phone cases have been "sand" cases, for better grip.
Are there any ultra-thin cases that protects the top and bottom (I mostly just want a all around color case instead of missing top and bottom)? I don't need drop protection but only a shell so as thin as possible would be awesome.
Got it along w/ 2 other Spigen cases and like this one the most, slimply because it allows me to plug in a headphone plug and the top and bottom does not have a lip that will trap pocket lint.
Only downside(s) is that it's smooth surface doesn't give you that confident feeling you would have like you would w/ the rubberized surface. It's a tight fit and I worry if I take it off and on that it could damage the volume and power button.
Anybody have an idea of one like this but is rubberized? I don't want anything with funky graphics or designs, just simple plain
I'm also looking for something with a rubberized texture. I got the Ringke Slim case and it has such a feathery smooth finish that I'm constantly worrying about the phone slipping out of my pocket. It's even difficult to get a decent grip if my hands are the least bit dry (which is all the time in the winter). I'd love to find a nice soft TPU case that is slim and slightly rubbery. The SGP Ultra Capsule on my old GS2 was perfect! Anything like that for the N5?

Do not buy the ringke slim case it damages the phone when you take the case off. Also it has sharp edges all over. I had to pull so hard that the back plate of the nexus 5 came off in the corner. Worthless case

Thanks, but I actually have this case already. Its a little too slippery as compared to the finish of the device. Will it soften up with time?
I know there can be case like the one Im asking about, as I bought an ebay case for the iphone 3G when it came out. It was a hard two piece case with a soft touch finnish like the Nexus 5. Im just not finding anything so I thought Id ask the masses.
Diztronic case is probably the closest you will get

The LG quick cover is said to have a similar feeling but is expensive and may not be the form factor you desire.

I've tried most cases available and settled for the Diztronic.
The Spigen Neo Hybrid, Slim Armor, Ultra Hybrid and Ringke Fusion alter the natural contours of the phone by giving it a boxy shape. They're bulky, uncomfortable to hold and like you said, are slippery.
The Spigen Ultra Fit feels closest to the Nexus 5 finish but has sharp edges which makes it uncomfortable to hold. Plus, it provides very little protection.
The Diztronic maintains the natural shape of the device which makes for a pleasant experience while using the phone. The matte finish feels quite nice as well. It is very lightweight and doesn't bulk up the phone.
They're on the 2nd revision of the case which addressed all anomalies. They ship to Canada. Use code "repeatbuyer" for 10% off.
No, I don't work for them If your'e even on Commercial Drive you can stop by to check out mine if that would help you make your decision
I'm using Spigen neo hybrid. I think it gives me the feel of original nexus 5's back.

Spigen ultra thin snap on case in matte black. Feels almost like the back of the nexus 5. Soft rubbery matte plastic

Been using the neo hybrid for a bit only issue is it adds some bulk because of its square design, also the fact that its not that grippy doesnt help.
Thinking of returning it for a better slimmer case. Any suggestions?
forgot to mentions i am also using the spigen crystal screen protector

For full phone coverage the Diztronic tpu case is fairly thin. For a little less protection the Rinke slim hard case is very thin and keeps the original feeling of the phone.

I've been very pleased with my Spigen ultra fit. Ringke also has a version, and LG is supposed to have a similar one soon as well (there's thread titled LG hardshell).
The Spigen case probably does not offer the same drop protection since it is a plastic shell, but I like that it at least feels like the phone (both colors' feel/texture are well matched to each phone color's feel/texture), and retains the phone's slim design. My only warning would be to add 4 tiny strips of Scotch tape inside the edges of this case, since some people have reported the case scratching their phone sides upon removal.
I do not recommend ultra fit

been researching through all the cases espcially the slim ones. Both spigen and ringkes slim one can scratch up the phone and are really sharp on the edges... might just go naked with screen protector , the black nexus 5 feels so good in the hands =)

Snap on case for Nexus 5
I use this Snap on case for my N5 and it really goes well with the look of my phone and do complete justice with it....the case quality is very fine..fine grip..not slippery..can also lay my phone on the table from screen side no worries..protects the phone from both upper and downward ends...and as it is too a kick stand one so I too enjoy the media viewing on it.....I like this one...so you can give a try to it...may be you like it...
thanks !!!
I use a suede pouch for the Nexus 5. Check out sfbags .
Thank you...Jimmy..I had considered...the Amzer case...indeed the texture looks very grippy...and..the kickstand is a nice feature as well...what do you think..about the durability of the kickstand?...I have read in a few reviews..that the kickstand breaks after the first few uses...let us know..what you think...thanks..
I picked up a couple of $3 cheap Chinese imports from Ebay. TPU, gloss black "bumper" with matte-black back. Super thin, just thick enough to negate the camera lens bump. I wish I could tell you the brands, but "generic" is all that comes to mind. One did have a little seam ridge along the very outside edge - which I took care of with a disposable razor. Just shave it off.

Ringke slim. Feels like the same exact phone with our a case on but providing protection for the lenses

Using Spigen Slim Armor. To me, doesn't add me bulk or weight. The back isn't very slick (although it shows fingerprints and smudges pretty easy, but they wipe off just as easily). I like it, very pleased with it. I did get one of the defective ones, but it was replaced very quickly, and now it's fine.

I bought this case off eBay:
http://m.ebay.com/itm/400619070423?nav=SEARCH&sbk=1
Out of 3 different cases I bought (neo hybrid, bumper, s line) it was the cheapest. To my surprise it also is the best fitting. Felt comfortable in the hand, easy to grip and hold, doesn't feel like its going to slip out of your hand like the neo hybrid.
The neo hybrid is a nice case, but it feels awkward and uncomfortable due to is solid square design. Spigen needs to redesign it with curves around the back for better geip., but it just feels huge to hold in comparison to the eBay one I linked too, and a naked nexus 5

I've had ultra slim, neo hybrid, unicorn beetle, cruzerlite experience, and the Diztronic matte. The Diztronic won. Makes the phone actually feel better to hold and is minimalist.

I agree completely. This diztronic does truly fit the phone like a glove and makes it better to hold. Love it! My 2nd phone with a case from them and they have won over a customer for every phone they support from now on.

I bought the spigen clear case which is a very good case however as it is clear it always looks dirty and gathers muck inside the case which you can see as it is clear.
I also love the feel of the n5 without the case. Is there a case out there for me that still offers good protection and feel?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
No. All cases surround the sides and back of the device, and alter the way the device feels in the hand.
That being said, I had the ringke slim case on my nexus 5, and now I have the spigen slim armor case. Both cases added bulk to the device, and I stuck with the slim armor because it has a soft touch back and offers more protection.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
From what I heard, the Tech21 Impact case is fairly slim and is protective. However, it also has a clear back so you might run into the same problem. I also use the spigen slim armor. and I agree what the person above me said. It does add bulk, however I like the way it feels because its a soft rubber. It seems like it's fairly protective too.
I very like to fell my phone like brand new every time, so cannot use without case.
I bought an official case and very happy with it.
Maybe, someone suggest a nice shockproof case like UAG case for galaxy s4?
why dont buy spigen neo hyprid.

the diztronic tpu case is honestly one of the best cases. Feels REALLY CLOSE to the original feel of the phone and as long as your not someone dropping your phone from 5 feet on a regular basis I don't see any problems with it. I had a diztronic on my s3 and it fell off the top of our car while I was driving down the road and not a scratch on the thing (luckily it landed on the back and not the screen)
I bought Diztronic voyeur case and cant never be happier
Spigen Neo Hybrid is a great case

Anyone have any luck? Id prefer not to make this phone that much bigger with the case if possible.

The Ringke Slim is very thin. Definitely not a case for drop protection. Just one to prevent scratches while placing it down. Got it in clear to show off the Ice Blue.
Sent from my Sprint Galaxy S5.
Scratch prevention is a good summary. I ordered the Ringke Slim and when I put it on my phone yesterday it just didn't feel like it added much protection at all. Additionally, it's very smooth and I felt like I could easily have it slip out of my hand. Returning it and trying out the Ringke Fusion clear. I really like the Ice Blue color and want to show it off as well. Not many clear case options at the moment.
+1 on the ringke slim. That's what I have from Amazon, and it includes a hard screen protector. While the black ringke is smooth, its almost rubbery feeling and plenty grippy for me. The spigen is similar (have one on my old N5), but is open on top and bottom while the ringke covers all 4 sides.
The official adopted case seems pretty good, a nice balance between medium protection and barely any weight/bulk.

I have the clear/frosted Adopted case and I think it is just too bulky. It is fairly thick all the way around the edges and not just at the corners, like the UAG cases that I love. It makes a tall phone even taller unfortunately. I ordered the Rinkge slim, I know it won't have great drop protection but I need a slimmer case.
