[Q] Always display images in default mail app? - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I really like the HTC email app, but it drives me nuts that I have to click "Display images" each and every time I open a damn email.
I was not able to find any options anywhere to disable this idiotic thing.
Is there a mod or something that does this?
Please don't tell me to try another app, I know I can do that, it is just that I like this one the most. Also I know that not displaying a image is a security feature, but I don't really care about it.
Thanks in advance!

no?

Yes there is a way ..I found the "show images" check box in the stock email app. With the email open, menu >settings and click on the actual account settings (not general) and the "show images" option is in there.. (might have to click "more settings" as well)

WM has no Lock/Default "Filter" option for contacts in Address Book?

Therefore, the filter option is pretty much useless. Does anyone know any way to save the filter settings so that i can always see JUST my personal contacts defaulted in my address book? If not, what might be a good third party app (free is always best! ) that will do this, simply, for me. Thanks!

There is an option to filter by category in my ROM. What exactly are you talking about?
It gives you the option to filter, but then every time you go into contacts it is unfiltered. There is no option to "save filter settings." Therefore you are defaulted to only seeing the list you want.
I want to do this b/c i have lots and lots of work contacts i almost never use, but need stored. SO i would like to be able to hide them semi-permanently, but still be able to access them when needed.
Has anyone found a way to have a filter enabled by default?
Thanks.
I would like to know this too.
Thank you!
Do anyone know an solution???

Or if you're rooted, remove the relevant APK's
Thanks, removing apk's sounds ideal, was rooted until I upgraded to 2.3.3, now gingebreak doesn't work.

try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1115542
should do the trick, did for me
How simple is this?
Settings > "Accounts and Sync:" "Facebook" then uncheck it. Done.
Simple if it worked, i'm looking at the gray icon in 'manage accounts' and still see the F in the notifications bar.

Use gingerbreak on 2.3.2, then OTA update to 2.3.3 (it's still rooted!), kill the facebook apk's..
How do I get back to 2.3.2? I just unlocked the bootloader if that's going to help me any?

Indeed, if autosync is on you will get the facebook notification icon and a "cannot sync" message regardless of the facebook account sync options.
I just removed the account altogether as i don't really use facebook that much, so web based access is enough.
Hmm, I think I just want to remove all of this FB integration off my phone, I just need to figure out how to get back to 2.3.2
You just have to do one sync and then go to settings and uncheck facebook sync. If you never enter your Facebook account it'll keep asking you to enter it. That's how it work for me.

How to change "note to self" email address?

I have several google accounts added to my GNex. I like using the "note to self" voice action that will send me an email reminder. However, it is currently sending to the wrong account. Anyone know how to control which account is used? I don't see a way to control the "Google Now" account like you can with other apps.
thanks,
You could always set up a label that forwards those emails to the desired address.

Bottom of Google Now, the action bar -> Settings -> Privacy & Accounts -> Ta da!
Didn't know I could do this. Tried it and Google search force closed. Nice.

Well, thanks for that tip. Funny enough, changing that setting did not do what I thought it would. Notes are still going to the wrong account. I wonder how it is controlled?

So - what do you think "default" means? For the "note to self" feature, it is certainly using the first account I ever put on the phone. Almost everything else uses a different account. Perhaps it is the one I am signed into Google Play with? Hmm...

Hello,
If you use the XDA 2013 theme:
You will need to go to your control panel-> MENTION SYSTEM-> Settings and in the QUOTE EMAILS part, tick "Disable Quote Emails" (Check this box if you do not wish to receive an email whenever you are quoted in a post.).
If you use the 2010 theme:
It's in User Tagging-> Settings and tick the same case as above.
Same thing for the notifications, you will need to tick "Hide Quote Alerts" (Check this box if you want to hide the Quote alerts.).
Take also a look here for all the settings: http://www.xda-developers.com/announcements/new-feature-for-the-forums-mention-and-quote-tracking/ or here: http://www.xda-developers.com/announcements/new-controls-for-xdas-mentionquote-tracking-system/, better with pictures
Thank you for this reminder!
This should be turn off by default.

My Zopper companion app (ZW Utilities) supports enable/disable toggles for Wifi, Data, Bluetooth and Flashlight, if that's what you are looking for. If you just want to open the Settings page for Wifi, you should be able to do that by opening the OnTap action dialog, swipe two times to the right to the "Shortcuts" page, scroll down until you see the "Settings shortcut" option. Tap that and you can select the settings sub page you want to open with a tap on the Zooper module.
Hope this helps you out and happy theming
what i wanted to do is just a simple task, like when i tap on that particular object it opens the WIFI settings, im sorry but i really cant find "Settings shortcut" im using galaxy s5

I don't have any experience with the new Samsung devices, sorry. Might be that they don't have this feature in their system. Maybe another Samsung user can help you then.

You COULD use Tasker to get the job done. You can literally hard code it to toggle on/off Wifi. Then, when you're done configuring Tasker, hop over to your Zooper widget and just point it to the Tasker profile you just made. Should allow you to toggle when you click on whatever object you place in Zooper. You can also do the same for data toggles, images, etc.
EDIT: I actually forgot that they integrated this. Configure your rectangle then click Module OnTap, scroll two screens over to the right, click "Settings Shortcut" and then chose Wi-Fi. Then back out to your widget, let it update and then click on the rectangle. It SHOULD take you to your Wi-Fi settings page. Hope this helps. :0)

Looks like we may have a solution: http://www.jagwar.de/en/zooper-wifi-toggle/
hi thanks for your research i really do appreciate that however base on my understanding it just creates a toggle where it enable / disable the wifi, what i was trying to do is open a wifi settings.. im not sure if i can do that with tasker.. im really terrible at programming
i will do my own research too, again i appreciate your time
thanks a lot
Oh, I see. Let me continue poking around and see what I can come up with. Unfortunately for you, I don't think it can be done on your phone, seeing as you're missing a vital element to make it work...

yeah its such a shame that a new flagship that is supposed to be more powerful doesnt have this feature.. oh well i hope i can find a work around.
thanks a lot
To use Tasker:
Create a new task;
Enter a name for the task then click the check mark;
From the task edit page click the + at the bottom;
From the select action category list click settings;
Scroll to the bottom of the list then click WIFI settings;
You don't need to make any changes in the action edit page so go back to the task edit page;
Since your going to use the task as a shortcut you need to assign it an icon so click the icon on the bottom right corner (it looks like an app drawer icon);
Select an icon (it doesn't really matter which icon because for your purposes the icon will not display);
Then use the back button to completely back out of Tasker (this will automatically save the task).
From there just setup up your widget to launch a shortcut the task you just created.

Hey there, although your request can be managed by Tasker, I feel like you want a quicker/easier alternative. Coding can wait another day.
Download this app from the play store link then enter the OnTap property of your chosen Zooper widget module > Swipe once to the right > Select Wifi Settings from the apps list.
And you're done. Just tap on the module after a minute to let it refresh and you're set.
The free app is under 18kb so hardly resource intensive and more than makes up for the surprising lack of Settings shortcuts on your S5. (Seriously, my Note 2 has these basic shortcuts as does most stock/custom roms. I wonder why it didn't make it to the S5).
I have been equally frustrated by a similar situation. I want a widget that automatically takes me to the battery status.
I had built one before but was being thwarted by the lack of access to this setting. I thought I was crazy in not finding the settings be available. I dont really need a toggle for the wifi, but is there a suggestion for the battery settings?
i suppose I will play around with Tasker to see if I can figure something out, now that I know I am not crazy.
i may have found a quicker solution via a third party...
- install 'anycut' from the play store (icon ooks like a mushroom house)
- when setting up the 'on tap' part, point to 'any cut' under 'shortcuts' and let your mind be blown by the myriad of shortcuts provided, including the elusive wi-fi settings
enjoy
