Hello all,
I have 5 various cases for sale but I"m not sure where to post. Would it be okay to post here (I'll include pics) or is there a Marketplace type of link for Nexus 5 that I can post at?
there used to be, but they moved the for sale section to swappa. I don't believe there is any place to just sell accessories
Cell trader online is the new place for cell phone and accessories that is affiliated with XDA. It's a good community.

Hi everyone, a while ago on my old XDA account I noticed that there was a place where people posted to sell their phones. I have an android phone that I would like to sell, but I can't seem to find out where that is! It was called, wanting to sell or something like that..?

New users cannot see that forum. It is restricted to member accounts older than one year and with over 50 posts. You need 38 more posts, then you'll be able to sell your devices here next year in April 2013.
Really. Why is that? I had my old account with a couple hundred posts and I had it for 5 months and I could view that forum. I'm not sure why experience in the forum is needed to sell my phone lol.

Rules were needed to try to cut down on the amount of scams that were happening. The new rules were implemented the middle of last month. If your other account is only 5 months old then you still can't use that forum even with the other account for another 7 months.
Ohh OK thanks. When I go to the page it tells me I either need 10 posts (which I just got) or an admin needs to activate my account if I have the posts.

That's just an automated message. It lies. The new rules are listed below. Rule #7-b is the one that applies to you.
Link to announcement dated 15 March 2012.

The Legal Stuff
1
The XDA-Developers.com Marketplace, also known as MP, is provided free to members with at least 8 posts at XDA-Developers.com. XDA-Developers.com, its moderators, administrators, owners, legal advisors and all other related parties do not warrant, guarantee or endorse any item offered for sale or trade on this forum.
SIMPLE ENGLISH: Trade at your own Risk. XDA-Developers is not and will not get involved in transactions whatsoever.
2
The MP is for use by private parties only, do not post commercial links (SPAM) or links to private sales taking place on other sites ie: eBay, Craigsist, etc. The MP is intended for the sale of your personal phones and/or accessories. It is not intended as a sales platform for operating a business.
SIMPLE ENGLISH: No Business links allowed. No off-site sales allowed. Personal use only
3
All transactions must take place in the public forum; use of the Private Message (PM) system to buy/sell/trade is against MP rules. Use of the PM system to convey private information, shipping address and payment details is acceptable.
SIMPLE ENGLISH: If you trade by PM how do you know the person you are buying from isn't selling the same item to 10 people? Keep all deals in the open.
4
a. XDA-Developers allows the following items to be offered for Sale/Trade:
Mobile Phones including Tablet devices and directly related Accessories ONLY.
b. we do not allow items to be offered for Sale/Trade that are stolen, thought to be stolen, or of questionable history. For the avoidance of doubt, phones with a "bad ESN" or which are network barred are NOT permitted to be on the marketplace.
SIMPLE ENGLISH: Don't sell anything but phones / accessories and ensure they are not stolen.
5
Do not send money by any means that you cannot track or recover. Sending money via Western Union is a known scamming method and although it may be necessary due to country restrictions it is not recommended.
a. XDA-Developers recommends the use of PayPal® or another secure method of transferring money.
b. XDA-Developers is not responsible for transactions gone "bad". It is YOUR responsibility to know with whom you are dealing, and YOU assume all responsibility for the transaction.
In addition, the use of PayPal gift payments is not permitted on deals conducted on XDA. Specifically relevant to sellers, but applicable to everyone in general, you must not request any additional payment to cover PayPal fees. Doing either of the above is in breach of the PayPal terms and conditions.
SIMPLE ENGLISH: Use PayPal® whenever possible. You are responsible for your own actions.
Do not use PayPal gift payments, as these offer no protection. Do not ask the buyer to cover PayPal fees.
6
By posting on the MP you agree that you have read, understand and will abide by these rules.

a. You may sell 5 devices per month maximum (each device must be in a new thread).
b. All current registered members will be able to use the marketplace regardless of tenure on the site or number of posts. New members will NOT be able to use the marketplace until they accrue 50 posts and one year of XDA membership.
c. If you are selling or offering to trade, you must take a photo of the phone with XDA as a backdrop on your screen with your username clearly showing
d. If you are selling, you may only sell an absolutely maximum of five devices per month, and each listing must be contained with its own thread.

Read 7-b.
i had a thread up about trading a bunch of stuff for a macbook pro. it was at the point where the trade was in progress but not concluded and the thread was deleted. I didnt know where else to post this so if a mod could help me understand that would be great.
Thanks.
Laptops aren't allowed on XDA. Only phones, tablets, and accessories bro.
You could've just PMed a mod instead of making a new thread too.

Don't know who the mods are and the thread was like 8 pages long and was alive for over a week. I was curious as to why it got deleted a week later.

You can include a laptop or computer as PART of a trade, but it cannot take up the entire one side of a trade. The moderators have more important things to tend to than policing the Marketplace (which they don't, unless something is specifically breaking the rules). Additionally, if no one actually reported the thread (most people wouldn't), then a mod just happened to stumble upon it 8 days later like you said.

He didn't offer a laptop at all. He was offered one. He had tablets and phones and some other things. The trade was already in progress. He had shipped like $700 worth of stuff already. It definitely should not have been closed.
My mistake for misreading. I agree, the mod should have done some investigative work before closing a thread. I wish mods would PM the OP with a warning or something.
Well I was in the middle of a trade and was hoping to get the thread back until the trade has concluded.

It's not really the mods fault, if a thread isn't within XDA rules to begin with, why should it be open just because its a deal in progress?

His thread was explicitly looking for a laptop bro, not allowed.

Public thread for this is not the best way to solve an issue. Use PM instead.
Besides if you read the marketplace rules you´ll find the reason why it was deleted
I wasn't the one that removed it, but since a deal was in progress, I will restore it.
Next time, please read our rules before posting...although I have read your OP and see your situation.
Only phones, tablets and accessories are permitted.
The netbook and PS Vita are not, but as you said, the thread was already 8 pages, so finish the deal.
Mod Edit: Removed link
Selling my M7, got a Nexus 6

XDA doesn't allow selling of devices anymore.
Hi,
I know you linked to swappa which is great.
But as mentioned selling is not allowed on XDA.
Thread closed.
Thanks BD619
Hi! I'm new to posting on XDA. I read the terms that we can't sell on XDA but we can on Swappa. But Swapper only allows posting of devices. I'm asking this because I work at a place that makes mobile accessories and we have a small amount of stock that are left from previous sales. They are very new and it would be a waste for them to sit there. I was just seeing if I can post the details here or if there are any other place I can put them to show people that might be interested. We're not looking to let these out at retail, so they will be really low cost. And if anyone is still using this device, they could benefit from our offerings.
Apologies if I posted this in the wrong forum. I am looking to sell my Pixel 2 XL (Black color, 128 GB). I can post more pics and exact specifics of the sale if anyone is interested. Please let me know.

You should delete this. Breaks XDA rules on selling.
7. Do not sell or trade on the forums.
If you wish to advertise a product, simply contact us. We can provide ads but you are not permitted to just post it in the forums. If you do, it will be removed and you're likely to receive a ban.
The buying, selling, trading and / or exchanging of any item is now prohibited on XDA, in any forum or via Private Messages. We now use www.swappa.com
My sincere apologies again. Thank you so much for letting me know. I will go ahead and delete this thread.
