[Q] SPH-L520 not responding in CDMA - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am trying to connect my Sprint L520 to CDMA workshop and seem to be getting no go on it. It is on Android 4.2.2 running stock unrooted ROM. The phone will show up in CDMA as the Samsung Mobile USB Serial Port but when I hit connect it connects but when I put the SPC which is not 6 zeroes (got it from MSL UTILITY) It says phone does not respond. any ideas? I am assuming there is somewhere another Hidden menu that is still disabled which I will need to toggle before I can successfully connect to CDMA. I got it on DM+Modem+ADB plus USB Debugging. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated!

Not entirely sure or not of what you're trying to do but I'll say this. Try a different usb port. Make sure there's only one instance of that work shop going. Restart the device and pc. Follow another guide or find out if knox is preventing you.

I have the same problem!! Flashed a Galaxy Note 2 SPH-L900 back to the stock lj1 rom so it would read cause the 4.1.2 doesn't work from what everyone was saying and even then I still cant read the phone even with the Msl! It connects to the com port, I hit read and I get Failed...phone does not answer!! I changed the modem to lj1 and ljc hard reset even the *##786# to rest the phone numbers and all and still wont connect.I have the correct usb drivers and I put it in DIAG Mode using ##3424# selected PDA and then hit qualcom usb settings..then select DM+MODEM+ADB. I'm using CDMA WS 3.8.0 AND QPST 2.7 V 378
I've flashed many phones and never had this problem...any help???
You guys are doing way too much. A) 4.1.2 works perfectly fine for flashing anything B) I've flashed a 4.3 (MK4) L900 to Boost just fine. You do NOT need to downgrade anything. C) If other phones connect fine but yours doesn't then it could possibly be a bad USB port on that particular phone.
IF your problem phone DOES show a COM port in device manager but won't connect, put it back into MTP USB mode, disable USB debugging, restart the phone (shut it down, pull the battery, put the battery back in, power up the phone) and put it on DM+MODEM+ADB. DO NOT ENABLE USB DEBUGGING THROUGH THE SETTINGS MENU. IT WILL BE ENABLED THROUGH QUALCOMM USB SETTINGS!!! This has worked for every "bricked" DM port S3 and Note 2 I've come across.

[Q] Can't get Galaxy s3 into download mode - phone does not turn on.

Hey guys,
My Galaxy s3 is pretty much useless at the moment. I had it rooted a while back and decided to unroot it. I used Odin and the stock rom for telus galaxy s3 sgh-i747m. Odin did its job and showed it was done successfully, however the phone never booted back up even with holding the combo buttons (VolumeUp+home+power). Also my computer cannot detect the phone driver via usb cable showing QHSUSB_DLOAD, but it does make a beeping sound when connecting it or holding the combo keys while it's plugged in via usb cable.
I used a usb jig hoping it would get it to boot into download mode but no luck. I can take it for a JTAG and get it fixed, but since I screwed up I rather spend some more time and learn to fix it myself. A friend mentioned about QPST in order to get it to download mode and using a similar stock rom reprogram the phone, which I'm not familiar with.. anyone can give me a hint how to go bout this your help is much appreciated
If you need more info or i missed something please let me know...

Im not a pro, but it sound like a wrong rom was flashed. Good luck mate!
I know it's for another device but most of these still apply, I'd suggest giving them a try: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1953930
QHSUSB_DLOAD is a sure sign of a hard brick.

Odin doesn't detect it yet.. QPST detects it as "download mode" on COM4 in the QPST Configuration.

[Q] Note 3 not responding to DFS or CDMA tools after writing nv items, profiles, etc.

I have done this with both a Sprint Note 2 and Note 3 and found I had the same problem with both phones. After I used CDMA Tools to write the NV Items, NAM 1&2, then use DFS to put in the profile info and change the MEID I reboot the phone and am no longer able to connect to the phone in either program until I do a factory reset on the phone. After rebooting I verify that the ##3424# settings are correct and put the phone in debugging mode again (because it usually turns off after reboot) but I am not able to connect to the phone, unless I do a factory reset, even if I reboot the computer.
I have been able to succesfully flash both phones to Boost and have everything working, so that is not my problem , but it is time consuming for me since I can only connect to the phone once and input all the info in without resseting the phone (since im not an expert and may need to connect more than once with DFS or CDMA tools). Is this normal when flashing?

I have done a few and no it is not normal. What radio/firmware are you on? It could be that you are on a newer radio that is causing the issue.

I originally did this with a Note 3 which was on Kitkat. I had to downgrade the modem firmware to MJ4 in order to get signal after I had flashed the phone, which was originally NC5. The NOte 2 had Jelly bean on it and I experienced the same problem on both.
When trying to connect with DFS (after being connected and rebooting phone) it will bassically say that the port is busy and I cannot connect until I do a factory reset, whether I reboot the computer or not.

[Q] N900T Semi-brick help!!!

Hi, Need pointing into right direction. I use my note in the uk and tried flashing different roms, modems etc to get LTE to work. It stopped connecting to my laptop at some point but I continued to flash cutom roms using recovery. I then tried the Odin app (by Chainfire) to flash stock Tmo F1 rom. I had been on NE6 prior to me trying custom roms.
Problem is that the flash failed (when rebooting itself) and is now in a bootloop and I can't get into recovery either. Download mode comes up but it does not connect to the Laptop. I have tried Odin, Kies, reinstalled drivers but no luck. If I connect directly to the laptop the phone does not come up but if I go through a USB hub it recognises something been plugged in but fails to install driver.
Now i know i've messed up but was hoping if there is anyway I could use the sdcard to help boot the phone maybe into recovery or somehow get laptop to recognise the phone???
Any help would be appreciated as I did enjoy the phone and have spent not days but weeks on this problem and the Mrs aint to happy either...thx...
Your current problem is drivers. Get that fixed, I can't help much as I don't run Windows often. Perhaps a boot disc with Linux/Heimdall might help... Lose Kies, it can't help you right now and it might have messed up your drivers, uninstall it and reboot. You need Odin. And not the app, the real one on a PC.
If you have an N900T, the Tmobile NF1 is the one you want. Try the Effortless guide in the general forum for detailed directions and good files to work from. If you can boot to download mode but Odin can't see it, the drivers are messed up on your computer. It's not the phone that has an issue. Try a different computer if you can. The Samsung drivers can be a bit picky. You might need to go to Device Manager and uninstall the drivers while the phone is connected, disconnect and reboot, then try to install the proper ones again.
And if you're in an LTE area, you should connect without any changes. Trying to force it is a bad idea as you probably don't have a network to connect to.
Thanks. Did cross my mind about the driver issue but my S3 connects to the laptop fine. Or do you suggest I give the Linux a try?
Also would the lte bands works here in the uk considering it been a us tmobile?
Tried linux/heimdall but still doesn't connect to my laptop. Don't know what it could be. Any ideas please guys.
UPDATE.....resolved by replacing USB charge port as a pin was damaged/broken.

Problem with USB Driver

I just got my phone fixed by a repair shop and they had to replace the motherboard. So when I got it back it has 5.0 on it instead of my KitKat ROM I like. I'm trying to get into Odin so I can reflash a stock kitkat rom but no matter what driver I put on my computer when ever I plug my phone in Windows says Unrecognized Device and Odin doesn't pick it up either. Please help!! I am dying without being able to revert back to KitKat and my favorite rom.
The driver I am trying to install is SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_v1.5.45.0
By the way it's a T-mobile Note 3.

Try downloading and installing the newest version of Kies. It will install all the drivers you need. I'll look into that issue in case that doesn't work. Hopefully they didn't install a board with a bad port. It can be bad and still charge.

I don't have Lolipop, but don't you have to manually set USB to connect on the phone (MTP mode), otherwise it stays in charge mode only? either that or your phone is set to charge mode only and you need to enable either MTP or PTP under USB options, for connection to work.

So I did exactly what you said to do and I actually have another T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3 to use as an alternate. My phone, no matter what computer I use and whether I use just the straight drivers or the install through Kies3, gives me the same issue - when ever I plug my phone in Windows says Unrecognized Device and Odin doesn't pick it up either. Please help!! I am dying without being able to revert back to KitKat and my favorite rom.
Not sure what to do guys?
The other T-Mobile Note 3 I used as an alternate worked just fine.

You're correct about MTP for mounting as internal storage, but MTP and PTP isn't used while in download mode and connected to Odin. It uses ADB at that point and it does that automatically. You just have to make sure USB Debugging is turned on.

Just gonna check some things with you. Have you made sure to activate Developer options and turn on USB Debugging? I know it doesn't connect while attached to a computer right now but does it charge? You said you've tried different computers, but have you tried different USB cables as well?
If the phone is charging but not connecting there is a small trick to see if it's a hardware issue. Get a very this piece of plastic or something else kind of stiff and barely wedge it under the charging port. You put it under the lower side that faces the back cover. You only want something that's going to put a tiny bit of pressure there. Most of the time if a charging port goes out, it's because the contacts are loose. If you do this and it connects as it should, then they put a bad board in the phone. This trick should be the last resort though.
