Hi Guys,
I was wondering, has anyone played with the registry or seen an app that will mute the SMS Ringtones??
I had WM5, WM6, and i currently have WM6.1, if I have a longer sms ringtone, when i receive the ringtone will keep playing, even tho i read the sms and replied....
Is this normal?
Can I somehow Fix it?
Thanks,
Have a Great Day!
How is that a bug ?! Make a shorter ringtone!!! Problem solved!
DUH!!
In this day and age, do we even have to say that anymore?!?
I mean COME ON.
IT is a Bug!
its a bug because how come on other phones, when a txt message arrives, if u press any button, the ringtone immediately stops????
Na its not a bug its how the dash reads the file.
I would really like this "feature" added as well. Or a way to implement it with a registry edit, etc.
I use a very long, beeping sound byte for my text message arrival sound. The reason I do this is for work purposes. I receive pages to my mobile phone. If I receive the page and then start to view the new text, it would be nice if the sound would stop playing automatically.
I realize that this thread has been buried for sometime now, but I recently discovered this problem as well, and wanted to see if anyone has come to any resolution to this (besides the ones that say make it shorter etc etc). A real resolution like a reg edit or something of the sorts. Thanks.
its common sense make it shorter.. jus time it.. um cmon

You obviously missed my posting. I want to be able to hit a button, and make it stop. I realize that making it shorter will fix this, but that's not what I'm after. There is apparantly no fix for it as of yet, and your answer would be the obvious, but again, not what I was looking for. Thanks for not even reading my post.
no problem thats why lm here lol
damnit i missed all the [email protected]#
its not over yet ha ha it jus begun
do you know why when i add guns n' roses - november rain (9:12 long) as my text beep, it plays for 9 [email protected]!#[email protected]
jk man...honestly its not a bug...its the length of the file...there is software you can cut up mp3's with to make them the length you want. i ran across something today...let me go see if i can find it...ill send it to you if you want. let me know.

LOL, I understand that its not a bug within the Excalibur itself, but any other (as a matter of fact EVERY other) cell phone I have ever come across, (roughly 30 or so) has had that feature. Yes, thats what we'll call it... a FEATURE. Ok, so, let me rephrase my whole posting.....
Has anyone come across any software that will add the FEATURE of making the "file" stop playing by a key press? If so, I would greatly appreciate it... Thanks.
Example:
If im upstairs, and I don't hear the phone, and come back downstairs, then I would love to hear the end of the 3 or 4 minute song thats playing to let me know I received a text message. I'm not going to just go check it every time just because I just came back downstairs. Now if the phone is in my hand, I would love to just be able to push a key and make it stop. That simple.

Edit. Edit. Edit.
we messin with you.. we kno wat u talkin bout.. like other phones.. wen u wanna read it.. the song will jus stop.. but theres nothin you can do.. its not a bug.. thats jus the way it is.. if u find somethin hit me up
yea man...other phones might...this does not. i offered a tool for you to create and chop files. you dont want it...thats cool man. take care
Ok, good to know we're all on the same page. Thats just it, I don't want to make it all small, its kinda like it was in my example. For that reasoning... Sort of.
Did anybody notice that if you click on any letter on the right side of the contacts application it actually jumps to the letter below it?? So if I clicked on 'D' it would actually jump to 'E'!!!
Nope, mine jumps to the right letter. Youre probably hitting the wrong one, the letters are pretty tiny.

Mine doesn't do that... But I don't even try to click on the letter I want...
Normally, I touch close to the letter, and drag my finger until I hit the right one.
Actually, I dislike having the letters displayed at all... I preferred the way it was set up on my Moment... No letters, but as soon as you started scrolling, a drag handle would pop up and you could quickly swipe down to the letter you want.
It looks very messy with all those letters how...

If you don't have anything listed in a particular letter, it will jump to the next letter with a contact in it

Exactly.. What do you expect it to do if you don't have a contact that starts with that letter? sounds like it's doing the best thing..

My post was in response to the OP, trying to see if that is what he was experiencing.
nope, I got contacts under that letter, but it still jumps to the one right below it! Sucks! Maybe it's because I imported my contacts from outlook to gmail to phone...hmmm...
Those letters aren't to be clicked on, but scrolled on. Genius!
Hi, this is hard to describe with out the sound file, but basically my phone when turning on plays a sound at random, it lasts for about 1sec and has 4 syllables if you get my meaning a bit like 1 ...2-3-4 or Do De-dah-Do (this isn't a silly post I promise XD)
At first I thought it was a few programs I installed, someone told me it could the the THD pinball game, un-installed that but it is still there.
Has anyone else encountered a "similar" issue? It interrupts some programs or games and is very annoying and its beinging to drive me insane; at one point I thought it was malware or a virus so I McAfee scanned it in case (maybe there are other better alts but please suggest).
Oh, I will also add when this happens when looking at desktop the top menu bar sometimes goes green.
Any ideas? Please save my sanity.
kind regards
EDIT: Posting here too as not sure if Q & A or General
Hello, don't know if it will help but green flashing bar looks like a phone call notification ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1674783
I remembered to hear some strange sound and i recognized your Do De-dah-Do
but can't remember how i solved the problem ... or even if it solved itself ... sorry.
Instead of "random" you wanted to say "sporadic". Sound is still the same "tone" ?

Hi, yes I would probably say more sporadic than anything else and yes this sound is always the same, I never notice this in call though so I have no idea which app is trying to notify me; its notifying me to uninstall it when I find out what it is!

By turning on, do you mean unlock the device or turn it on after being turned fully off?

When I unlock the device, so its already on and then the sound at "some" point will start maybe 2-3 times then stop. Its so random I cant even pin point it. When in opera, desktop and other apps this sound will appear and cause mayhem.

After installing "addons detecto"r and "Air push detector" I still cant determine what this sound is.
Silly question... Do you have the Zelda Gate of Time Live Wallpaper installed?
I found that certain motions with my handset made the phone do the 'get item' jingle...

Yep, had a look, cant really see anything. The randomness is the problem here; hence why its hard to isolate it...

Yeah, it's strange. I know it'll take awhile but it might be a good idea to look at any/all recently installed Apps and look at their Permissions. See if any of them say anything about making alerts, then force close them if they do and see if the issue persists.

Does it by any chance happen when your phone is sitting over your wallet?
I was getting the same sound randomly and drove me nuts. Then realized that it's the NFC kicking in when the phone is near my "blink" chipped credit card.
i'm sure i read a post exactly like this and it turned out it was nfc, make sure it's turned off and see if it continues.
Nfc or perhaps the roaming sound is on?

Sorry for late reply and thank you so much for your input.
Yes people, it is the NFC! The phone resides in a wallet and my works id card on the other side. When I read the phone I fold the cover over and hence this sound. Do I feel stupid? Yes 100% I only hope that maybe some people can learn from my inherent stupidity and thus the madness that was slowly but surely setting in.
Probably (hopefully) a really stupid question with a simple answer, but I have one annoyance left with my HTC One X. I use the calendar function a lot and so whenever a reminder pops up, which I dismiss, it then open up a separate screen asking me if I want to create a note. My issues with this is:
1) I cannot understand why, when I've been reminded of a meeting or task to perform, I would want to create a note on it? Why does this feature exist.
2) How can I disable this?
I've been putting up with this since Feb, but no more, so hopefully some bright spark on here can enlighten me :fingers-crossed:
Thanks
JB

I have a similar problem, have you experienced the Reminder coming up, and now matter how much you "Dismiss" it, it'll just pop straight back up, you experienced that?

Very annoying mate, the only way to dismiss it, is either go onto the computer at work, and dismiss it their on Outlook, or to unlock the phone, dismiss it about 50 times and close the notification etc, then it decides whether to go or not !
I am trying to troubleshoot an issue with my 360 and I could use some help. I asked this question before but got no responses so I am going to try to reword it in an effort to get a better response.
When you are "in call", meaning AFTER you have received and accepted a call, either from the watch or from the phone, what is displayed on your 360's screen?
What is displayed after you hang up the call? I'm particularly interested in behavior when the watch is sitting in the charger as well.
Please help; I am trying to determine if there is an issue with my watch and what is the default behavior. I have other issues with this particular watch and I am trying to make a case fro replacement with Moto.
Thanks for your time!
Please help! This is the second time I've posted this question and received absolutely no response. If you could just take a second, it would be a big help.

When I receive a call, and answer from my 360, the watch goes back to my watchface. Hanging up doesn't change anything on my watch.
Thanks for your reply, Ramer.
Yeah mine just goes back to the watchface when I'm in call whether I answer on my phone or watch.
Thanks Powell, mine behaves differently and I'll post a screen shot tomorrow to explain what I'm talking about. I appreciate your response. Do either of you have Google keep installed?

I do.
I thought maybe it was Keep so I uninstalled it but it made no difference. I finally got a chance to grab a screenshot of what I'm seeing. (Caller name is intentionally pixelated for privacy). Have you ever seen this? I don't have anything installed that should provide note taking support (except Keep, which was uninstalled at the time I took the screen shot). If I don't manually swipe this away, it will be on screen until I do, even when it is in the charger and I'm not wearing it - and it stays on screen at full brightness too.
Weird. And I'm beginning to feel like the only one now!
