could you give some more info about what you did?
you say you unlocked bootloader,
did u install xrecovery? did u wipe user settings? did u return to factory default? wich rom did u install after unlocking?
you also should have at least read the next page:
[How-To] Safely test custom kernels / custom ROMs and get back to stock SE 2.3 ROM
after that you might want to try to fix your device by following the [Tutorial] Fix FOTA bricked (unlocked bootloader) Phones
after you have tried those steps let me know if it worked for you

I am on Xperia Arc with unlocked bootloader, with CM 9.0 & CWM Recovery 5.
Before flashing to CM 9.0, I made full backup of my stock ROM through CWM Recovery.
Now I want to go back to my original firmware (i.e. 4.0.2.A.0.42).
When I try to restore backup from within CWM recovery, my phones is stuck at boot after free-xperia logo. Only black screen with nothing on it.
Someone please help me, how can I restore my backup of stock ROM.
i want my phone as it originally came....
plz help....
thanks in advance..

You must flash the compatible kernel for that firmware
Doomlord's kernel for stock rom for example.
As you mentioned, you already restored the GB stock rom; you only need the proper kernel now for it to boot properly.
FXP kernel works for CM only.

You must first flash .42 firmware and then install CWM or doomkernel(it comes with pre-installed CWM) and then perform the restore
tryed SEUS?
I also wanted to restore my GB Rom, but I got an md5 mismatch Gosh I hate when that happens

There is no need to relock the bootloader.Just flash the firmware and you'll get back to original kernel and the doomkernel well be gone

You may try to relock your bootloader, use SEUS to flash the phone. There's an option in SEUS that you can select and it will not wipe your data.
OR
Extract the kernel.sin from an ftf and flash it via fastboot, then you can return to your original kernel
Hi every one I have rogers arc running on the latest ice rooted Bootloader was locked. I did bootloader unlock with test point. The flash tool saying that bootloader is rooted but I cannot flash any custom rom or even a backup I usually can't pass Sony screen any input is appreciated.

Just use flashtool to flash the rom again man, i think u should flash the stock rom firs
If it's ok, then flash your custom rom
I am running the official rom no problem it's not allowing me to flash any custom roms in the recovery mod. I cam reboot to recovery either by x-part or holding the menu key while it start.:crying:

You unlock your boot loader with the test point, not root. So please be clear about what you've actually done.

If you want to use a custom ROM then 9 times out of 10 you'll need to use a specific kernel, usually one that comes with CWM.
I know exactly how to flash custom rom, I am coming from MT4G the problem after you flash the rom the phone dosn't boot in recovery it just stay at sony logo, even when i try to boot in fastboot mod dosn't allow me only booting in recovery.

Try this....
1. Flash ur stock ICS firmware 4.1.B.431 ... 2. Don't let it upgrade to the latest firmware (in Canada I got N update that changed my firmware to 4.1.**.587 or something like that)
3. Then flash ur phone with the rootable firmware of xperia generic world version...
4. Flash the kernels for that firmware .. even the stock ICS would be OK..
5. Root the phone using Doomlords method of rooting... Its the best...!
6. At last reboot ur phone ..n violaaa...
U have a completely rooted phone ..!
P.s. make sure u see the log while u root ur phone . It may say rooted successly even if it had some errors... so make sure other are no errors..!
I had the same problem when I decided to unlock boot loader n root it for the first time ... so no worries my friend ...try this .. n it will work for sure.. !

So u did root and installed cwm by the link I gave right ?
N it showed that .. installation complete.. ?
N now ..the problem is ..
that u cannot enter recovery mode

but after restarting the device after the flash, it vibrates once and then does nothing. I don't even see the SONY logo. The screen doesn't light up at all.
I was able to fix this by flashing the stock ROM from flashtool.
But did I do something wrong? Is there anyway which I can get the ROM working?
did it say flash successful?

Have you unlocked your bootloader first? If you have then try flashing the kernel from the rom seperately using fastboot. By the way are any other roms with custom kernels working or are they all giving same errors? By the way did you face any error while flashing?

Can you describe how exactly is it "Dead'? Is it not booting or even responding to hard reset (Pressing Vol Up + Power Buttons for 10-15 secs)? Are you able to get fastboot or adb access to your phone?

Hi, I am New to Xda.
Hi,
I am not a dev. But Love towards my Xperia SL made me a mini-dev LOL. I have succesfully fixed a developing ROM from Carbon(kitkat 4.4.4) . I would like to upload it to Xda and help poor teens like me (I am just 15) still stuck with SL. I renamed my ROM as ASTERISK. Can someone tell me how to upload a new rom to Xda.
Thanks in advance,

Xperia S and SL are same hardware, so what ever works on Xperia S works on Xperia SL, and given that there is Nougat ROM available, I wouldn't say that it is stuck. You should ask the developer of the Carbon ROM if You can upload a modified one.
Hello geeks, please help me out wai, I was updating my xperia arc s via OTA and dumsor happened all I could do is watch my run out of battery and go off, when the light was in, I powered my phone on just to see it stuck in a boot loop with xperia on the screen that's all. I flashed it with xpreia flash tool using ICS 4.0.4 since that's the FW version it had before but still it remained in boot loop just as it was before, I then downgraded to gingerbread and still stick in boot loop.Hmmm am worried indeed can someone please help me out? maybe recommend a different software for the flashing cos I Google and all they recommend is the flashtool I had used before. Plsssss Help
