Put cwmod on the root of your sd card. Download terminal emulator from the market. In terminal emulator type
su
press enter
then type
flash_image recovery /sdcard/nameofrecovery.img
press enter
Replace nameofrecovery with whatever the name of the file is.
When you reboot into recovery it should be cwm 3.0.0.5 (should be amber font)

it shows file not found, even when i write the name of the file.
From the htc stock rom, you need to do it from your pc using fastboot. It won't work with terminal emulator.
Which rom are you running?
Do you have adb installed on your pc?
If you have fastboot, put the recovery.img in the tools folder of your sdk, start up your phone to the bootloader, connect your phone with the usb cable then open a command promt, navigate to the tools folder and type
fastboot flash recovery nameofrecovery.img
Press enter then type
fastboot reboot
Should take aboot 5 seconds

if you mean the commands that is written in cmd, then i have already tried it, and it failed.
In the command prompt, navigate to your sdk then type

Press enter
Your device's serial number should show
Then type
Adb shell
Press enter
If you get a $ type su then press enter
Then enter the same commands you used in terminal emulator
Why do you want cwm 3? It's generally only for 2.3 roms.

Excellent. What worked finally?
To go back to an older version use rom manager or the use same way you upgraded.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
You could try this, i haven't tried it myself so don't know if it works, but read it somewhere here on xda.
Go to this path with any file manager.
/mnt/sdcard/clockworkmod/download/koush.tandtgaming.com/recoveries
And copy that file to another folder. Then copy the name of that recovery (2.x.x.x) and then rename your 3.0.0.5 recovery with the old recovery name and just copy the new (2.x.x.x) to this path. (Just say yes to overwriting the file).
/mnt/sdcard/clockworkmod/download/koush.tandtgaming.com/recoveries
Then reboot and then boot into recovery and that should have changed the cwm from old to new. The color should be orange now and not green, if still green it didn't work.
If it doesn't work just restore the old recovery .img you've copied earlier (2.x.x.x).

Could anyone help me out? I wanted to use this bootanimation i edited from a cm10 rom. Using the CM10 file manager, when I attempt to move the file it tells me "the operation is not permitted in current folder." When I use ES File manager it tells me that the move failed. Ive tried changing permissions on the file but it tells me permission change failed. I am rooted and have enabled root access on the file managers. I've also tried to preview the bootanimation using Rom Toolbox Pro but it says "failed loading the animation."
I have also attempted to use adb to push the file. I go into adb and first thing I do is make sure my device is found with "adb devices" then I do
adb shell
su
adb push bootanimation.zip /system/media/bootanimation.zip <--- at this step it tells me there are no devices even though doing "adb devices" shows my device.
Is this a problem with my bootanimation or something else entirely? Not sure what it could be with my phone, Im currently on CM10.0. Can anyone please help?
anyone??

I believe those other file managers, even with SU, still won't let you write to the system folder. Root Explorer has an option to use it as read only or read write.

Just tried Root Explorer and it still gives me the same error message when I try to move it "cannot move because file-system is read-only" and when I attempt to change permissions it gives me this error "permission change was not successful, please note that some file systems (e.g. sd card) do not allow permission changes"
I am at a complete loss as to why I cannot change the permissions for my files even though I was able to do it before in the past (same sd card). Anyone know a solution to this problem?
To make it easier for you just go to YouTube and click on change boot animation root explorer you will see detailed instructions

Okay.. so I figured out why I couldnt replace the boot animation. I used ES File manager to mount the sdcard as r/w and it worked after. Now Im faced with the problem of getting a blank boot animation. When I restart my phone it just shows a blackscreen as my boot animation until it loads into the OS. Could someone mind checking my bootanimation zip and let me know if I have done anything wrong?

Relax and take a deep breath. Panic is your enemy. Your situation is not as bad as it may seem.
Having said that, with the "billion" videos you claimed to have watched, surely you must have seen ADB mentioned...once or twice? Have you attempted to use ADB for part of what it is intended...to transfer (push) a ROM to your sdcard?

I have tried kfu utility, i have downloaded stock from amazon site only to get an error with update.zip, and now I am trying to use my mac. I don't know what else to do!!!!
I can tell you how to get a ROM installed from a PC...
Download a ROM zip file. I use the CM10.2 nightly build with 3.0.72 kernel (see that thread under development). Copy the downloaded zip file to the same folder on your PC that your adb.exe is in. Boot the Kindle into TWRP. Press Advanced and ADB Sideload. Slide the slider. Plug the Kindle into the PC. In a command prompt on your PC go into the folder where you ADB.exe is. Type adb sideload filename.zip (use the filename of the ROM zip file you downloaded). That should get a ROM on your kindle that you can boot into at least. If you use a Cyanogenmod ROM, don't forget to download the compatible GAPPS zip for it and copy it to internal storage on the Kindle and use TWRP to install that zip file.
You can also look here for zip files. I don't know if the amazon-OS zip file would work to restore you to original or not, though.

It should be. You want to look for adb.exe . I use KFFirstAide so my adb.exe file is in C:\KFFirstAide. There might also be a sub folder called "stuff" that I think some of the utilities have adb.exe in.

So you should have downloaded the file: cm-10.2-20130731-UNOFFICIAL-otter2.zip and that file should be in the same folder on your PC as the adb.exe file is.
You will boot your Kindle into TWRP. Press Advanced and then ADB Sideload. Plug your Kindle into a USB port on your PC.
From the cmd box, you will type CD C:\folder In place of folder you put in the path to the adb.exe file, for me it is C:\KFFirstAide, buy yours will probably be different.
Once you are in the same folder with the adb.exe file and the zip file that you downloaded, you will type "adb sideload cm-10.2-20130731-UNOFFICIAL-otter2.zip" without the quotes. The zip file should be copied to a temporary location on the Kindle and then TWRP should flash it.
You should then be able to boot the Kindle into CyanogenMod. Next you will have to find the gapps zip file that goes with the version of CM10.2 that you installed, copy the gapps zip file to the "sdcard" on the Kindle. Reboot into TWRP and install the gapps zip file. Also, don't forget to turn on ADB (or USB Debugging) under the Developer Options in the system settings.
After you install the gapps file, you will have a complete ROM and ADB access again.
Sorry I can't help more with going back to stock ROM, I am out at sea at the moment on USS Nimitz and don't have a very good internet connection.

Assuming that you extracted the KFFirstaide to your C:\ drive....
This is for Windows 7, but it should be close for Windows XP too:
Click on your Start button, then All Programs, then Accessories. Right click on Command Prompt and select Run As Administrator. (I don't know if that is necessary, but I do it). Click OK or Yes to the windows prompt asking if you want to run it as Administrator. When the command prompt window opens, enter CD C:\KFFirstaide (again, assuming that is where you extracted the KFFirstaide zip file to). You did extract it after you downloaded it, right? and not just copy the zip file?
Now type DIR *.EXE one of the files listed in the listing should be adb.exe.
Now type DIR *.ZIP one of the files listed in the listing should be the CM10.2 zip file that you downloaded.
If you see those two files, it means you extracted the KFFirstaide correctly and you have the CM10.2 zip file in the right place and your command prompt is pointed to the right folder. Now if you type adb by itself, you should see all the options for adb listed. If that works, then you should be able to boot into TWRP, start ADB Sideload on the Kindle, plug it into the computer and then do adb sideload cm-10.2-20130731-UNOFFICIAL-otter2.zip on your computer and it should work. Note that sideload is only one word.
If you don't see adb.exe listed in the directory above, then search for it on C:\ using the Windows search function to figure out where it is.

Hi,
After doing a complete wipe I installed an invalid OS and the kindle is not booting.
How can I solve this submitting a new ROM to install if the ADB driver doesn't recognize my kindle to upload it?
Recovery mode is working, but mounting is not, nor ADB sideload..
Is there any way to resolve this??
Thanks

You need ADB (Android Debug Bridge) installed, and drivers installed. I'm guessing you have that and used fastboot to install TWRP?
Then the command is
Code:
adb push /path-to/file-name /sdcard/
with the watch in normal run mode, not in bootloader or recovery.
You can type "adb ?" in the terminal for all commands.
Ok thanks, I have sent some sideload installs to the watch with ADB and run the image flashing. I just wasn't sure of the commands to get files to the SD card. When you say "path to" that's where the file is located?

Yes. To simplify I place the files to push in the same directory as adb. Easier than typing
Code:
C:\Users\myname\AppData\Local\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools\adb push C:\Users\myname\Downloads\Wear\custom\rom.zip /sdcard/
Is there a way to copy files from phone to watch?

Yes, I use the Wear Media app to find files on my phone and push them to my watch via Bluetooth. Then I flash from there. But to get the custom ROM I did have to side load via adb.
