TMO Note 2 Dev support slowly dying? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

It's like a ghost town around our parts these days. CM 10.2 last updated over a month ago, Jedi longer than that, and no real CM 11 support. I checked out CM support for my previous phone Galaxy s2 and they have CM11 and nightlies. Are we the Jon Snow of the galaxy note 2s?

Yea its getting close to bail out seems like most of the devs have sadly :/

I flashed AGNi kernel for the n7105 and its very stable and I'm getting all day awesome battery life on 4.3 bootloader and 4.3 rom.
I have not flashed any roms for the n1705 or ATT yet as flashing them needs modem flash and I think has higher risk of bricking or loosing 4g. So untill I see a great tutorial on how to flash n7105 or ATT roms, I'll stick with my stock rooted xposed Note 2.
Cheers,

We can flash att/n7105 ROMs easily. Same instructions.I keep a modem zip on my external for such occasions. Running sokp ATM.and loving it.I'm big on touchwiz but love aosp look.until now if you wanted battery life we needed a touchwiz ROM.that's no more.I'm getting about 3.5 hours of screen time on aosp as to the 2 hrs I used to get on touchwiz.losing spen apps suck but I don't really use them.

Not many N7105 or i317 ROMs flash a modem. Only one I can think of is DN3. The rest don't touch the modem.

Im on sokp too its pretty good battery life a lot of settings which is cool imo. If you want a tw rom with good battery life I suggest this 1: http://goo.gl/2KwRph
I typically flash our modem and agni kernel after the rom. Also remember to enter the correct apn settings for your carrier.

That's some good information I'll have to try some of those. We're only about 6 months away from (in theory) from the Note 4. I know typically TMO phones get the least amount of attention I wonder what the Dev support for the TMO Note 4 will be

I think there will still be dev for awhile but with each new android update it seems battery life gets worse. With 4.1 I could get 5 hours screen time, with 4.3 I get 3.5 and with 4.4 I get maybe 3

Seems that some guys are having issues with DN3 and it requiring a modem flash choice of i317 or an N7105 modem. Not terribly straightforward for folks not on either device.

kitkat seems to be lighter and faster. but im speaking purely on the basis of running it from CM and Slim. Plus hopefully the camera bugs will get resolved that are present on KK (not sure if it has been fixed already) when it officially comes out for our devices. It's sad but development has slowed down for our awesome phone But i am running slim weeklys. and im impressed. but it still bugs out on the camera at times which i dont like but besides that its buttery smooth. non of that samsung junk

I 100% agree our phone is awesome the difference between the 2 and 3 isn't that much which is why I didn't upgrade. At the time development was good CM was rocking and now the Note 2 from a Dev perspective is like There is a note 2 TMO? I know you can flash other note 2 roms but I'm not gonna

If you don't want trouble with apps not working, force closes, and want your samsung s-pen apps to work stick with stock roms. i've had 4.1.2 stock uploaded by teshxx and the thing is smoother than smooth with battery life much better than 4.1.1. I've had the phone since t-mo launch date so I can definitely notice the increase.
You don't have to wipe data either. Just go to recovery and wipe dalvic / cache and you're good to go. Good luck.

Personally, the only reason I would get a custom rom other than samsungs is for the ICS software buttons. Unfortunately, non of them have that option, even the Cyanogen roms. Yes I know we can modify a simple file in the note 2 and I have dont that before but it totally messes up the layout.

I am HUGE fan of the Jedi Master series, it's worth a try if your just looking for something that everything works on that is NOT pure stock.
I've had nothing but issues with the Jedi roms jedi master has echo problem maybe fixed now as I have not used that in sometime. Jedi X data drops. Tweaked is by far the best as its 100 percent fully customizable!!! S4 Themed is also another good one! Those 2 are the best if your looking for a T Mobile based rom.

I'm confused...why would some flash their note 2 with a stock rom if it's not going to have the features of cyanogenmod such as the DSP aadvaudio settings, custom brightness levels, and advanced configurations on the slide down bar?

Sprint LG G2 no love?

So Ive never had a device (even on sprint) that has no development to be seen within a weeks period of time. I believe the Root we have is from other devices and the CM 10.2 build that was posted was something that was supposed have never seen the light of day and was broken. I totally love this phone but I was really excited for the development aspects since its basically nexus 5 with a different shell. Anyone else with the sprint variant a little worried by the lack of interest?
I'm on the same boat, many probably are.
This phone is still solid stock.. all I really need is tethering... patiently waiting

Development is under way. There are 2 devs working on a CM 10.2 ROM right now and another working on a version of CleanROM for us. Its going to take some time and the phone hasn't been out for a week yet.
Also the CM 10.2 ROM was removed because the build was not tested and verified by the dev to be working and they removed the links to it in case it caused a potential brick to the phone. People who downloaded the ROM say it had GPS lock and rotation issues so you don't want to download the ROM anyways. In fact they saved you the hassle of reverting back to stock or a nandroid backup. Read the last few posts in that CM 10.2 thread to get a sense of the situation.
I am not worried at all about the "lack of interest" in this phone. You have to remember that not all the potential devs have received the phone yet such as garwynn who probably just received the phone today. Lets give the potential devs some time to come out with new ROMs and other mods. There are enough ways currently to mod the current stock ROM anyways through Xposed and other mods like (increase volume).
Its only been a week. Our device was rootable even before Sprint released it. I'm not worried. For now I've been using Greenify + Titanium Backup to keep my phone in battery/performance BEAST MODE.
Sent from my LG-LS980 using xda app-developers app
Install G2 xposed and you'll see you can do a lot of the customization yourself. There's also an xposed kitkat theme in the theme's section by ock. The device is already fast and ignoring aosp roms, you can customize the stock rom to your liking.

I was just noticing that compared to devices I've had in the past (even the SGS II which I hated lol) had some things pop up pretty quickly. Also make sure that no one takes this as me complaining, just thinking out loud here.
And as to the xposed stuff, Im atually just interested in some slimed down stock roms and AOSP, but thanks for making sure I knew about it

New note 2 help

My wife just got a new note 2 suggestions for rom and rooting methods . Please keep in mind that I'm looking for a4. 3 rom that's a daily driver with features and I was thinking just root and xposed but I wanted to hear from someone who has been there 1st. There are two good TouchWiz Roms, Ditto Note and SkyNote Air. I would read the first few posts in each thread and then the last few pages to get an idea of how easy each one is to set up, how often they are updated, etc. You will also learn a bit about the process so it is good from the start no matter which one you choose.
BTW, Jedi X2 is in the T-Mobile Note II forums. It is a good TW ROM and is multi-carrier, it just happens to be hosted over there. Good luck.

[Q] Which ROM? Slimfast or ezKAT?

Having been on Jedi X18 for months now all the 4.3 and now kitkat TW ROMs are really new to me.
I guess my first question should be, is there any reason I would not want to go to 4.4 and should rather opt for 4.3?
Of the two 4.4 ROMs what are the basic differences between them? Which installs more simply on an AT&T i317 being used for Simple Mobile (T-Mo MVNO) still on 4.1.2? (I'd rather avoid Odin having no experience with it, but am under the impression the AGNI kernel would be enough...)
Thanks a lot for the feedback!

I'm sorry if the original title is misleading, but I'm not really asking which ROM is preferable, I'm just trying to gain information on the differences between them, as well as between the 4.3 ROMs (such as SkyNote & DN3) and them.
As I mentioned after spending a lot of time researching and installing the 4.1 ROMs such as Scot's and Jedi, I haven't really been keeping up with the newer trends, and even after going through about 30 pages so far am finding it a bit overwhelming.
The one basic piece of information I have been able to figure out so far, is that it seems like the 4.3 ROMs (at least until DN gets out of Beta for 4.4) are more full featured with Air Command, etc.

Is KitKat so much better than 4.3 that it's worth giving up all the custom add-ons (such as from Note 3 & S5) that are in the 4.3 ROMs like like SkyNote or DN3?

It's not that's it's so much better. It's improved to make the phone perform better. If you want a 4.4.2 from DN3 then»»»»»
GoHERE if you want those features. I'm using it with zero issues atm.
The link is under downloads section.. And on the Eteam website the Rom Dl is at the bottom enjoy...

There is no base code for 4.4.2 for the AT&T Note 2 yet. Since AT&T has not released the update yet. This means that both of these ROMs are built of the international build (N7105 I believe), so there are some bugs, and the kernels might not be perfect. It you want new features and a smoother faster experience i have used both and with the proper tweaking they are running great, but if you aren't comfortable with fixing issues and just want a stable daily driver without any hassle i would stick to stock or 4.3 ROMs.
If you don't use the Samsung/Touch wiz features on your phone and are itching to try something new there are a bunch of really good stable 4.4.2 AOSP ROMs out there.

Thanks for the reply.
Is KitKat so much better than 4.3 that it's worth giving up all the custom add-ons (such as from Note 3 & S5) that are in the 4.3 ROMs like like SkyNote or DN3?

Its nice for a bit to play with but the more you use it the more you miss what you had with 4.3 mods like I said I flashed back to stock to get the ota when (if) it comes out lol

Jedi, Slimfast, Beanstalk, DN3V5.2, ezkat?
I don't know how many of you have been trying all of the ROMs.
I have been trying on all of them including DN3V5 and ezkat.
One of things that I'm sure of that Jedi x20 works all the time. That is a reliable ROM for sgh-i317.
DN3V5 and ezkat come next. They are full of features with one single problem that I keep erasing these ROMs. Their data connection through gsm or other modes keep dropping. I have not been able to solve that problems yet. If I do, DN3V5 would come on the top.
For those of you who have S4, Beanstalk is a superior ROM. That's my opinion. I give my opinion on practical matter. If it works, it is good. Otherwise, it may be marginal or not good.
exkat gave me some headache at the beginning until I got it to work. One needs a little bit of work to make it work. Well, I would say the same to DN3V5.
Finally, I have not given up on DN3V5 and ezkat yet. There must be a solution somewhere. There must be.
QUOTE=terpin32;53313072]Ive tried both but I ended up going back to stock to get the ota most of the stuff either doesn't work or its buggy
