[Q] Change home button long press behaviour - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm on rooted stock firmware and I am wondering if it is possible to change the behaviour of a long press on the home button. I've used cyanogenmod in the past and I was able to set the behaviour for the home button to show a dial of apps/actions. Is this possible through the use of a mod or an xposed module? Thanks in advance

I'm using Swipeup Utility. No root required and is free on play store.

That's almost perfect! Thanks for that. I like the cyanogenmod version better but beggars can't be choosers!
Ideally, what I want is on the semi circle there to be icons for apps that I can set. Also, one feature that I liked was the ability to have one of the icons being a 'kill current process' icon. This will do for the timebeing though.

You can do it with gravity box.

Gravitybox is unusable for me. It keeps making my launcher (xperia home) crash. Shame as the solution looked perfect.

Power Control Widget for Rooted Nexus 4??

I just rooted my Nexus 4 and I am looking for a power control widget to place at the top of my pull down notification menu so that I can access various toggles quickly and easily. I have found a few apps on the Play Store such as "Power Toggles" and "Notification Toggles". The problem with these apps (and I know I'm being very picky) is their notification icon always shows on the notification panel. You can make it transparent but then there is just an empty space there.
Does anyone know of a similar app that would work on a rooted device and give me the toggles without the notification icon always being present? Any support would be greatly appreciated, as I am new to the world or rooting. Thanks!
Flash a ROM with the feature. And this really goes in Q&A not Themes & Apps

With power controls theres a setting near the one that makes it transparant. Its called something like pin or something like that.
Its just above or below te transparant setting.
Good luck and cheers

I do see the option to mane the notification position "Not pinned & no icon" but the problem with that is it moved the power widget down from the top. I want to keep it most important and keep it at the top of my notification list. I was hoping there may be a way to achieve this with a rooted phone without having to download a custom ROM.
It's so much easier with a custom rom. Also you can get a lot of other neat stuff.

You can use the xposed framework with gravity box module. With this you can add other tiles to quick settings. Sorry for my bad english.

Modifying setting.apk is possible. I believe that is what the author wants. It would be perfect for a change 50% transparency.

Halo/PIE/Torch possible on sense?

Hey all, it's my understanding that Halo and PIE are built to work on AOSP based roms. I would love to go back to the stability and bonus features of sense, but having to have the menu button eyesore at the bottom of most apps is a deal-breaker. Is there any possibility of getting these addons working on a sense based rom? If not, are there any apps with similar features that can be used with sense?
I would also like to add a torch option on the quick settings menu if that could be done. I realize I can download a flashlight app, but I have been spoiled with having quick access to it on iOS 7 and AOSP.
Flash bonestock. It has a torch toggle, and also go to settings, display, and check "longpress home for menu"

Floating Notifications is an app that is as close as you can get to Halo. There is a free trial period for about 30 days.
As far as pie control, I think there is a launcher called LMT Launcher in the play store that has a pie-like fixture.

LMT launcher works, but it's not in the play store. it's on XDA though. just search for it.
pie control (which is in the play store) works as well, just not as neat as LMT.
sometimes, though, with LMT, it takes a few tries to get an app to start. it's annoying. if pie control showed the time and other notifications like LMT does, it'd be so much better.
Both of these look good. Do they allow you to disable the stock menu button?

My bad. It know it was included in a rom I was using at some point (can't remember which one) and it had been floating around in my TiB for a while now. I assumed it was available in play store as well.

Do you mean the three dots button? You can install a custom rom to do that or xposed has several modules that let you do that. Try Sense 5 Toolbox module.

there are no 3 dots on bottom of screen on my ROM.
technically yes, they can be ported, for example IHTFP69 ported HALO to TW on Samsung. No one said it could be done, he is a genius.
Try my ROM out, if you don't like it, try another.

I just finished downloading your rom and making a nandroid backup. Can't wait to try it out. Thanks for all the suggestions! I've been trying to hold off until 4.3 but with the recent delay it's just not worth waiting anymore.

Replying here instead of in your thread in case anyone else is searching for this answer.
I am loving the rom so far, but I have two questions. The menu bar is gone almost everywhere, but it's still present in dolphin browser. Is there any way to fix that? It doesn't show at all on AOSP. LMT launcher is every bit as good as pie and the menu button being there prevents it from working properly.
I also don't seem to have a torch/flashlight widget in the quick settings. There is an app though which I can make work for me if there's no way to get it in quick settings. Just a minor personal preference.
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I got the menu bar removed by changing a setting under display and gestures. It has the unfortunate side effect of making a long press on the home key open the menu as well, but it's still better than the always-present menu button.

[FRAMEWORK] Change extra settings on the LG G2 (Sprint)

I wanted to switch my bottom buttons to the familiar HTC order, "Home, Menu, Back" but LG does not offer this option. While finding a solution, I found a pretty cool program that most probably already know about, but some might not. It allows you to do what I needed to do, plus much more.
CREDIT: First and foremost, all credit goes to rovo89 and his thread located here. Be sure to send him "thanks."
Step 1: Goto the Google Play Store and download, "G2 Xposed" (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tinyroar.xposedlgg2).
Step 2: Download the Xposed Installer APK and install it.
Step 3: Launch the Xposed Installer.
Step 4: Go to the "Framework" section and click on "Install/Update."
Step 5: Reboot
Step 6: Launch the Xposed Installer again and go to the "Modules" section (you will also get there if you click on the notification warning you that the module is not enabled yet).
Step 7: Enable the LG G2 module by checking the checkbox.
Step 8: Reboot.
Step 9: Enjoy.
Works great! I've been hearing a lot about xposed but never knew where to find it or if it would work properly with the ls980. Thanks a bunch! I finally have my recents key again!

Already have Xposed installed using the G2 module listed in the OP. Its great being able to get rid of the volume slider and the Quick Settings bar that take so much of the notification window real estate.
Awesome thanks for this.

Does anyone know if this plays nice with XBlast Tools?
Messing around with it - cool options so far.
What if I want to remove all changes and go back to stock look? Do I just uncheck the module?

This is absolutely perfect. With the G2 Module and GravityBox Module, it feels pretty close to PA or AOKP.

The only time my nav and status bar change colors is when I'm in an app. When I'm on the home screen they both are black.

full!screen app working on your KRT16S?

Hey all, newb here. I have a new N7 running 4.4 KRT16S. I just unlocked and rooted this evening for the first time. I wanted to try full!screen so I downloaded from the Play Store. It doesn't seem to be working correctly. I just enabled it with the default settings, lower left button doing back for click and recent apps for long press. Lower right, home on click and restore system bar for long press. First of all, when enabled the system and nav bars do not disappear. The click actions don't seem to work either. Back and Home do not work on click, but both long press actions do work.
Have I missed something here? Is this not compatible for some reason? Thanks for the help guys.
I just updated my nexus 7 to KRT16S to and I always used the expanded desktop but that's not on 4.4 Roms yet , so what I did was find the app full!screen from the play store and so far its working like a charm.??

I've had the plus version for quite some time but I can't get it working on 4.4, the navigation bar is still there.
If you have an alternative navigation set up, like lmt launcher, pie launcher etc. Could just add this to the end of your build.prop: qemu.hw.mainkeys=1
Or flash a ROM that can hide the nav bar.
Edit just in case: build.prop is in your system folder. You will need a root browser.

Right, Gravity Box JB. Also the Xperia/AOSP NavBar Buttons and XPosed Additions modules.
XPosed Framework itself works perfectly on the 7a. The XPosed Additions module causes some problems so I needed to deactivate this one temporarily. I ran into one boot loop out of all sudden, no idea if this was caused by XPosed.

The center clock seems to be a feature of ColorOS 2.0, I didn't change anything! Are you running 1.2?
Unfortunately my hardware keys still respond to touch. XPosed Additions should be used to disable these, but the module interferes with something in ColorOS and makes it crash every few minutes. I haven't found another way to disable them, but with the Find 5, you could disable them by editing a certain file in the /system partition, so I guess this should work on the 7a too. I haven't figured out which file to edit though.

Nova launcher with Beweather widget. Custom shortcuts how? There's a free version on the playstore to see if it does what you want. The iconset name used there is called "fireworks"
Thanks, I'll look into it. Most clock/weather widget apps allow you to set shortcuts to it such as the calender to the date, clock app to the time, forcast to the weather portion, etc. Its best when you can choose your own shortcuts rather than using the system defaults. For example you may have a alarm clock app you use off the market you would rather use than the built in alarm clock and so on.
Can someone remove the vibration in menu button of nova launcher ? Ahhe
