From what I'm reading it looks like the Rogers s3 will work on 1700/2100 frequency, is this true? How would I go about doing this?
Get on a carrier that uses those frequencies I would imagine

Lol, okay, I mean't like do I need to flash a modem, or will it work if I just unlock it. The question was pretty simple if it works on 1700/2100 and if it does do I need to flash a kernal or do I just unlock it.
so will the telus, rogers, bell or at&t work on 1700/2100 frequency via flash or?
Rogers sgs3 uses those frequencies for lte only.

So as the title states I need some help. I'm trying to get a phone and its an unlocked at&t s3 and I'm trying to figure out if it will work well on our T-Mobile carrier. Will I get 4g can I get SMS? Any help?

Yes, I'm using one right now and I get "4g" and 4g LTE as well.. "4g" might not have as good coverage depending on your area because it will use the 1900 frequency T-Mobile has recently started to roll out instead of the 1700 that T-Mobile mainly has for 3g/hspa.. But LTE will work just fine, and it is fast! heck you will even get WiFi calling as long as you flash a T-Mobile based ROM

Can't you just flash a T-Mobile baseband? And also if it'd and at&t phone how can you flash a T-Mobile s3 ROM?
Sent from my One S using xda app-developers app
No do NOT flash a T-Mobile baseband.. Only stick with at&t basebands or bootloaders.. The only thing you can safely flash is Roms and kernels.. You can flash roms through recovery and most should work just fine.. And BTW there actually is a mod on the at&t thread to enable the 1700 aws, but the mod wipes after a reboot and you must do it every time you reboot.. It doesn't sound that bad, so you might want to try it out if you end up getting it and have bad or no 3g/h with 1900 in your area

So I can flash a T-Mobile s3 room

Yes as he said you can flash roms and kernels nothing else.
And dont be confused and think a rom is equivalent to firmware. Its not.

Well I know that I was just a little confused as to the way he worded it. So I've tried reading over their some but so far all I've come up with are old threads where people were trying to get 3g to work. Supposedly its permanent any idea how I can tell what frequency my location runs on
Sent from my One S using xda app-developers app
I'm pretty sure there is. I think it may be a dialer code that you can use to go in and test to find out. Cant remember for sure, but thought I'd mention it in case it helps someone else answer or helps your search.
If you aren't able to find anything ill try to remember to look later tonight.

If what I think this is says right here. https://t-mobile.jive-mobile.com/#jive-discussion?content=/api/core/v2/discussions/40516 and this says what I think.it says http://m.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s_iii_i747-4803.php with a at&t version I should be able to access tmobiles 4g and 4g late since its on the 2100 frequency

Tmobiles hspa+42 and lte will be on the 1700 and 1900 bands. Not aware of tmob using 2100.

But doesn't the article say that they're moving 3g to 1900 and then 1700 will be for HSDPA+ and 2100 will be for lte

My bad, you were right. I had things a bit mixed up I guess!
Sorry for the confusion.

Though, they will only be able to offer hspa+42 on the aws spectrum I believe. And it'll only account for a small portion in the end.

So basically they're expecting most phones to support lte. Does the s3 from at&t support was?

these are the two threads i was able to find about it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2344627
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771021
the first one is the newest method and the one that won't stick after reboots.. the second one will downgrade the phone to ics, and people are saying that flashing a t999 recovery and then a tmo jb rom will still keep 1700 enabled but i haven't tried any of them
Well you guys thanks for the help. Now I just have to actually find a new phone

Hello Guys,
I have a Few questions about the Nexus 7 (2013) model. I'm planning to get this Device as My uncle is visiting the US this month.
1) Is the 32GB wifi + Cellular a unlocked Device?
2) Will It work on India's 3G or 2G network ?
3) Is it available at stores other than Google Play?
Thanks & Regards
Yes, it's already unlocked and you can use it in india. The model is LTE which is 4G but can still be use in 3g or 2g band.

wait i think for 2g band you can't use it in india cause 1900/850 band in U.S while 900/1800band in india but in in 3g is the same in 2100 band. I'm not sure yet mine will be arriving in first week of December from bestbuy.
Lol same here XD we have to experiment now lol..

Hello guys!
I live in Pakistan and here UMTS Band is 900MHz,1800Mhz and 4G band is 1800MHz. As you know e980 does not support these bands. so my question is if i can change my frequency band. like other variants of OGP has those bands and what i think hardware might support those bands as well just not enabled. If i instal e985 or e988 rom on my phone, is it gonna work.
Thanks...
No.
