I'm using the phone pretty much stock. I have a Gmail account and an IMAP4 account. I'd like to set things up so that when I delete an email from the phone, it also deletes it from the server (and hopefully my WinXP PC using Mozilla Thunderbird). If I could get it to do the same for my Gmail account so much the better.
I've looked at "similar" threads here on XDA, but this phone does not seem to have the options that the other threads list.
I'd like to stay with the built-in mail system if possible.

I wondering if any one has used any good email clients. The one on the stock android is good for personal use but falls really short for work purpose.

Good question, I am looking for the same thing because I use Road Runner. And man, t-Mobile jacked my phone up. They set up a filter and all my emails where sent to my phone as a text message. Now I can not find out how to fix it because sometimes my email works and sometimes it doesnt and I think that the filter is screwing everything up. I called them and they said that they deleted the filter, however it still sends my messages via text.
Super Annoying!!!
I saw some one mentioned k-9 Mail, its much better than the
One that comes with the phone. If there is one btter than that then please suggest.

How about Touchdown by Nitrodesk? I've been using it for a couple of years now and I like it.

In what way do you feel the stock app falls short for work? I use it for work everyday and it does everything I need it too. What features are you looking for in an email app that the stock one doesn't have?
Just curious, that's all.....
Well for one it does not foward attachments and also u can't clear the trash folder.

Odd. I forward mail containing attachments from my work account to my personal account all the time, and they forward just fine. And you can clear the trash folder. Select the account you want, hit menu, folders, trash and then select the messages you want deleted, and hit delete. Done.
I realize it might not be as convenient as some may want, but it does work.
One thing I've noticed with the stock gmail app is that you can't save attachements...unless I'm missing something but when I email a xls spreadsheet to myself it gives me a option to preview it but no save.
im using touchdown for now.
I need to be able to search email and the stock client does not allow for that
I've been using Seven (which is free) on WM for years. It's not nearly as polished on Android, but it's decent. I'm looking for alternatives and will give Touchdown a try.
Hi,
I'm comming from a blackberry and this email thing is a little frustrating. I've set up my ISP road runner email account and I keep getting new email notifications for emails that had already been viewed on the g2 and and deleted. I have set it up to delete emails from the server when deleted from the inbox. I had the same problem last year when I had my HD2. Any help?

anyone with feedback?
See if you can remove the updates to Gmail from the Market. It's a bug I had on my Gmail.
Are you using gmail? Else it could be you are just using a one way sync that downloads your email and sends your email but doesnt update status..

Woah your the exact same thing as me had a HD2 and now a G2.

Sorry for the very late reply. My account wasnt set to automatically subscribe to threads after I post. But I'm no longer having the issue, and this was a pop mail account from my isp.

I was wondering how I go about connecting my my school's email address ending in a .edu to my phone instead of my gmail account?
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
The email.apk should handle all email accounts. Gmail.apk is intended for Google Mail accounts.

The problem I have is figuring out what type of email account it is. The email address is powered through google but it has a csu.fullerton.edu domain. Its the weekend so I can't go to school and ask someone either. If someone has a similar school email like myself, it would be greatly appreciated if you told me what you typed in for the settings of your account.

It's really going to depend on your school - it could be anything. At my school, its webmail.(school initials here).edu. You're probably going to have to just log onto their web email application for now.
I hate the email app(. Thanks for all the replies!

My college uses webmail (run by Google) for email. All I did was in the Gmail app, add an account and put in my [email protected](school initals).edu and password and it worked. No special settings or anything in the gmail app.
Hey,
if it takes you to what gmail looks like give this a try~

Yeah, you'll have to get account specifics from the tech support people unless you already have that info on your PC

Would really appreciate some help on this one. Recently factory reset my phone and updated to the uvlde update. I noticed the email app had changed a bit. When i put my account in (an imap account) it wont load any messages. Im beyond positive that i have the right settings. I can send an email to myself even, but it won't show up on my phone. I hit load messages, cog spins for a second then it just stops. I hit load more messages . spins then nothing.... Any ideas? I've tried clearing data and putting the account back inane few times with no luck .

It tries and nothing happens. Im using an imap account. Any ideas? Really need email to be working, but seeing as we get ics june 11 maybe i should wait? Anyone have imap email working on theirs?

Go into setting then accounts and sync then click on your gmail account and make sure email is syncing or you won't be able to retrieve new emails

Try going to the photo gallery and going to the pic you want to email then at the top there should be a button that let's you email it or press the menu button and email it that usually works for me

I have seen this both the G2 and the SGSII. The stock email app and some email settings/policies do not play nicely. The work around seems to be download a different email app (such as K9 email) or forward your school mail to your gmail account that is hooked up to your phone.
Other than that, maybe the ICS update will fix it some how or another.
Yea im banking on the ics update... Heres something very interesting: Ive had to replace this phone once already for a different problem. The gs2 i had before this had a slightly different stock email app that worked with my imap fine. Difference was the stock email had settings that allowed me to select peak push times and like days of the week to sync most. This stock email app on this replaced phkne does not have those settings... As well as not having the imap work. Anyone notice that in their settings? That is... The push time options. Super weird that there coukd be two different ones ive encountered on the same phone..

I am trying to figure out how to accept outlook appointments sent to my business email account.
I am just using the stock email app but am open to ideas.
When I get a email with a outlook scheduled event in it it appears as just blank space. Is there a way to fix this? It is super easy on a blackberry, seems like a big oversight for android...
When I have appointments sent to my work email I just forward them to my Gmail and then save the file that is listed in the email. It works fine so far, I even get reminders of the meeting 15 min before hand.
I do believe it will send a response from your Gmail account that you are attending the meeting. I'm not 100% sure about that though.

I tried that and it was just a blank email….
This is what my outlook appointments look like. It usually has a view and save option. Since I've already saved it it just allows me to view. I'm not positive why yours isn't showing up.
Are you forwarding the email with the actual appointment/meeting time that outlook gives you the option to select attending/tentative/decline?

For example.. My boss will send me an invite… only the email has a subject but nothing attached. The only way I can know that there was an invite attached is if he says in the email or tells me afterward when I ask him "why the strange email?" This is using the native email app
nobody?
