Phone is stuck on teamwin screen flashing on and off. - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I cannot use the hardware buttons any longer to even get into fastboot mode. I tried to insert a new TWRP theme, named it ui.zip, place it in the theme folder, then rebooted the phone and now it will not even go into recovery, fastboot mode, nor turn on. Anybody have any suggestions on how to get through to the recovery. I guess I locked up the recovery, and can no longer boot my phone to even be able to delete that ui.zip file from the theme folder under TWRP.
OK, now I managed to get it into fastboot mode. But that is it.
Can I extract a file from the phone in fastboot mode?
Thanks,
chevy383surfing
Well, I finally figured it out. I'll add an explanation on this whole deal after I get off work. Just in case anybody else runs into the same problem, maybe my little routine will help someone else.

Next time you loop, vol up and power for 10 seconds with phone Unplugged, then vol down and power to go to boot loader

If for some reason it doesn't restart put the phone close to a bright light

Similar problem
Hi. I am on a Kindle Fire HD 7 and just got cynogeanmod 12. I was going through settings when device got laggy. And somehow the device thought I wanted factory reset so thats what it did. My Kindle Rebooted and now I get a screen that says "teamwin" and every 2 secs. the screen flashes. None of the tips using buttons worked. It can only turn on and off. I need assistance in finding a way to get this back to stock(from there I can re-root and do the process again to get back cynogeanmod).
Thanks,

First, this is the M8 forum, not the Kindle forum. However, I actually can help you with that.
Most stock recoveries seem to have a problem with doing factory resets. Flash the stock recovery for your device, let it perform the factory reset, boot back into the OS (to make sure it worked), then reflash your custom recovery.

Tank you for this quick reply :good: . I will try to get back into my stock recovery but if it is on my device, how will I access this on my computer and force flash it on my tablet. I only need help making the tablet responsive/workable. Once this is done I should be able to figure out the rest.
Thanks

[Q] Help! Unlocked bootloader, installed CWM, now phone won't boot

I used the GN Toolkit V2.2 to unlock the bootloader, after installing the adb drivers via PDANet. I flashed Clockwork Mod on as well, and was going to install the Android Revolution ROM. I thought I had already copied the zip file to the internal storage, but when I tried to flash it from inside CWM, it said no files were found. (May have copied it before wiping device, I can't remember). So I restarted so I could copy the zip file again and then flash it. However when starting, it seemed to be stuck on the startup screen, with all the flashing blocks of color fading in and out. After a while stuck on there I couldn't do anything so I did a battery pull to restart. At this point, I can start normally or into recovery mode. If I try to start normally, (or go into recovery mode and choose restart from the submenu), it shows the black screen with the white Google logo, and the unlocked icon, stalls for a few seconds, then does a short vibrate and reloads the logo again. It will keep doing this and not go any further. I tried doing an additional data wipe from recovery mode but that didn't help, and I tried to do USB mount from recovery mode, hoping to copy the Revolution zip file and flash it over, but it couldn't mount. I'm starting to panic a little bit, did I brick or otherwise mess my phone up? What can I do? Any help is REALLY appreciated.
Thanks so much and I hope this is the right forum.
I dont have the answer but I wanted to post to calm you. This happens a lot.....multiple times to me on my android devices. You live and learn next time, do a backup in cwm before wiping data and flashing new stuff
Im sure someone will post shortly to solve your problem
Well ok that is reassuring thanks. I downloaded the Google factory ROM from the code.google.com and was able to flash that on my phone with GN Toolkit. It is trying to boot right now, still on the colorful screen. I think maybe I didn't give it enough time last time around? At least I'm past the black and white logo screen. So I'll let it sit for a few minutes and see what happens.
Edit: I let it run for a couple minutes, and it blacked the screen for a sec, showed the white Google logo again, and then went into the colorful startup screen again. I think it's working now so that's a relief.
If someone finds this thread in the future with a similar issue: Don't battery pull during start up and be patient if you don't want to freak yourself out haha. But as spitefulcheerio said, it will be okay so just don't panic. Thanks again.
Make sure you do a Factory Reset in STOCK recovery after unlocking the bootloader. THEN install CWM. learned that one the hard way. skipped a step after doing the oem unlock.
Yes, first time will take awhile on the boot animation.
And, as long as you see the google logo, you are ok, even if it freezes on that. They designed this phone to be easy

Guess all I needed was a psychological confidence boost, thanks for everyone for being supportive I thought I just threw a few hundred bucks away. But I got Revolution installed, phone and rooted and runs like a dream. Thanks all around!

To provide some technical details on why it takes longer the first boot and appears to "hang" at boot animation ...
During the boot animation, the /data/dalvik-cache directory is built up for each application loaded on the device. This occurs during the very first boot. If the /data partition is wiped, the dalvik-cache directory is also wiped and will have to be rebuilt on the first boot. All subsequent boots will be quicker as this directory has already been populated.
Whenever loading a new ROM or performing the fastboot oem unlock command, the /data partition is generally wiped which takes with it dalvik-cache and results in the delayed initial boot time while the dalvik-cache directory is re-populated.
Hope that makes sense and fills in a few blanks on the why Android appears to "hang" at the boot animation during first boot after the /data partition is erased or the /data/dalvik-cache directory is erased.

Stuck on Google Screen after JB Update

Hi,
I've attempted the JB update
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737899..
fastboot flash boot boot.img etc.. which said all was well..
But now find that my phone will not boot up, doesn't get past the Google and unlock screen.
I've tried all combinations of volume buttons, I can get to the fasboot menu where I can choose either Recovery Mode, Power Off, Start or Restart bootloader.
None of these appear to do anything, recovery goes to the google a screen followed by an Android on it's back with an exclamation mark over it.. then goes to the Google and unlocked icon screen and stays there...
I fear my phone is bricked... Please help..

1.) Your phone is far from bricked at all. You have access to the boot loader (i.e. the screen with the options). The recovery you're seeing is stock recovery. All you need to do is go into boot loader and fastboot flash recovername (CWM) and you will have your custom recovery back to wipe data and reinstall a rom or restore a nandroid backup
Mine is doing the same thing, weird thing is, it was working since yesterday on jellybean, it just randomly froze this morning and and now won't boot..
im currently at work so i don't have admin rights to do a fastboot flash..
any idea why it would randomly stop working when i havn't flashed anything on it besides the jb rom?
Sorted..
Thanks for the comments.. yeah i was over-reacting a bit there..
I downloaded the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit, got a stock rom form gopogle, flashed it.. back to normal, well, it will be after i restore the CWM backup i took.. phew..
Thanks again
Ian.
Still stuck
I'm also stuck in the same situation(google with the unlock screen). I fear I'm a little more stuck. I also can see the recovery/restartbootloader screen. However, everything I try still comes back to that same google screen and gets hung up. Need some help!
this has happened twice today and i think it from using volume+

[Q] Always stuck on Splash Screen

I can't find anything about this on the Xperia Play forum so I have to ask now, I just unlocked my bootloader, SO glad I did, but it seems that after playing with some kernels, I can't even get past their splash screens! I've used LuPuS, FXP, and Mjolnir. It'll show the splash screen, vibrate and the led will light up. I've tried holding volume down and leaving it alone. Nothing happens, it just sits there. ADB says no device is plugged in as well so I can't try adb reboot recovery. I'm going to flash the R800X 2.3.3 FTF then reflash the Mjolnir Kernel, flash it's Wifi module, then install Glazed ICS. If anyone knows why it does this, I don't plan on turning my phone off UNTIL I know a solution to the stuck splash screens. Thank you!
EDIT: It starts doing that when I restart into recovery from the phone, I forgot to mention that, I haven't just rebooted the phone's system yet. I'll try that and get back to you once I install Glazed.
EDIT2: I powered off and booted for the second time and it didn't get stuck. I guess for the time being, I'll stay away from Reboot Into Recovery on the phone and just use the recovery-play.img.
Okay, now my phone needs to be reactivated... Can't see the number pad so I have no way of pressing One. Help please???
EDIT: I'm an idiot, I had to activate it while it was on stock gingerbread first.
Generally, after you flash a room, in that rom zip file the kernel is the boot.img, you need to extract and flash that boot.img so the rom would be able to boot.
First install FlashTool, in the flashtool folder there is a driver file to install the ADB drivers for Xperia devices, select all the drivers that apply to the Play to install.
Enter flash mode (hold Search button).
Flash the kernel: fastboot flash boot boot.img
If all fail, you can use Flashtool to flash the stock tft file to restore the phone to factory state.

Had the same problem, dial *228, instead of pressing one (since the dial pad is not yet visible) just stay on the line and they'll activate it. That's how I got mine activated.

[Q] 'Secure boot Error!' at boot, download mode and factory reset don't work

Hello,
Here is what led to my issue:
I rooted my phone using this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38886073#post38886073
Downloaded clockwork rom manager.
Here comes the thing I don't remember. At least i know that the last thing i did was to click on 'backup current rom'
After this the phone reset itself and this message came up:
Secure booting error!
Cause: boot certification verify
Then i tried to reset using the power button, which led me to the 'battery full' screen - afterwards i was able to reboot. As stupid as I am I just tried the same thing again. And ever since i am stuck at the 'Secure booting error!' screen.
I am unable to enter download mode. I get to the 'Hard factory reset' screen, but if i accept doing so, it says 'Secure booting error!' again.
I also remember clicking on 'restart into recovery mode' at some point, but this is not the last thing i did.
I am really desperate. Please, help me!
Well i had the same issue today... It happened after i did two changes. One of them was to to try to relock from freegee and flash twrp again from freegee. In my case i was able to go in download mode and flash original kk rom with lg flash tool.
Unfortunatly, trying to boot in downloadmode, i still get the same error :/

How are you trying to boot into download mode? And what factory reset screen? It seems as though you did not unlock the bootloader using freegee, if you make any changes and relock the boot loader you will get that error. But it seems that it has not been unlocked. If you hold power and volume up what happens? Same thing when power and volume down, one of them is recovery (possibly factory reset you are seeing) and the other is download mode. I don't remember right now but you should read the whole softbrick thread and see if you are missing something. You may need to use LGPNST to go back to stock, you can also use that program to flash a new recovery so read carefully and follow all steps.
When this happened to me I was able to flash an unlocked bootloader and it allowed me to use my phone again as it was before doing something stupid (for me it was an attempt to re lock the bootloader).
well, i managed to get into download mode. Obviously i used the wrong method to get into download mode...
I used this method and everything worked fine, so far. : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2249500
My phone doesn't boot now. Fast Boot doesnt work aswell.
All that happens is a white battery showing on the screen and when i try to fastboot all that happens is that the LED is blinking or glowing red after some while.

What do you mean when you try to fastboot? Fastboot is basically the bootloader and allows you to select recovery or download mode. What you should have done after following that thread is go to recovery and wipe everything and flash a new ROM.
If you are saying that the bootloader is not coming up and allowing you into recovery then I believe something was missed.
After trying out some varioants of this it worked: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40274560&highlight=red+led#post40274560
I wiped the phone, but since I had to leave over the weekend i just turned it off and went away.
Now that I am back, nothing works now :/ The Phone doesnt react to anything, not even donwload-mode.
Is the battery too low maybe? It's on the wall now for a few hours, but it still doesn't react. It's not warm either.
edit:
when i charge the phone, i will get a 'watchdog bark' after some time allowing me to get into recovery. accesing downloadmode from there doesn't do anything. strangely, the recovery isnt trwp although it should be because teenybin comes with it. it's 'bbs.gaodi.net' which doesn't have a sideload feature. what do i do now?
edit2:
after 10000 tries i got into download mode. i don't want to **** up now so i won't do anything until i know exactly what to do.
any advice?
edit3:
got it working by flashing another teenybin which included trwp - then i installed miui via sideload. i don't have signal though, but i will open another thread for this since this is another issue.

Stuck in boot loop even after factory reset. Able to get into bootloader and recovery

Hoping for some help or alternatives to fix my fiancee's Pixel XL. Last night the phone just kept flashing the 'G' logo on for 10 seconds, off for 10 seconds. She said the phone was close to dying before it happened, and I imagine it probably ended up draining the battery afterwards with the constant bootloop. Plugged it in all night but the charging screen didn't come up and would just stay in the bootloop. I could get it into the boot loader (power button and volume down), but it wouldn't go into recovery mode and instead would go right back to the boot loop.
So I tried a battery pack to charge it and it still didn't show charging, but I was able to get it into recovery mode eventually, but still boot loop afterwards. At one point, after leaving it on boot loader menu while attempting to charge, it eventually just tried to start itself and made its way to the second Google splash screen after the main G logo. Looked like it froze there though and I couldn't get it to that point again.
On my way to work this morning I tried plugging it into my car's USB port after powering off from the boot loader, and this time I kept flashing that it was charging (looked like it was 3/4 charged but not sure how accurate that is). So I got into recovery again and tried 3 factory resets consecutively. Still bootloop after attempting a startup afterwards. There was a similar issue a couple weeks ago where it looked like it was stuck in a bootloop, but it turned out the phone actually was dead that time and the charger wasn't working. Once we switched chargers it booted right up.
Any other suggestions or possibilities? I don't have much troubleshooting experience otherwise. Phone is fully stock, Google Fi. Any other info I can provide please let me know!
well, i'm not sure if it makes a difference, but now for some reason i can't get into recovery mode again. just goes into the boot loop. It also goes into the boot loop as soon as I plug the phone in to charge.

I assume you can't get into the bootloader using power and volume down buttons?
I have always been about to get into the boot loader. Actually i can get into recovery again as well. Seems if i let it sit for a while it'll go to recovery again. Maybe heat related.
My OG Pixel did the same thing to me one morning. I tried everything to revive my pixel but nothing worked. I did some digging and it turns out there is an issue with the storage on the phone. It's just a old fancy paper weight.

If you can get into recovery, have you tried to sideload a full ota.zip (not an update)?

I haven't. I see that Google has all the ota's on their site. Is there a specific one that i might want to try? The same one? Go back a few? Will i even be able to sideload if my phone is fully stock?
Edit: sideload adb successfully but no change. I loaded the 6-5 ota which was what i already had.

Sounds as if it's time to just try stuff and see what sticks. Regarding using an ota, it works if you are stock, and I sideload it even if I have installed majisk or installed another kernel. It typically works for me with fewer chances of blowing things up than flashing a stock image. Regarding what to try next, you may have already gone into recovery to check the install function to see if your storage still appears and try to flash anything that worked in the past; if you have a backup in twrp you could try to restore it; you could wipe cache and dahlvik; or even sideload an earlier ota version that worked. Since the 6-5 ota did not work nothing really jumps out to me as obvious. One final caveat, I once had to reboot a sideloaded ota a second time before my pixel booted properly. If I think of something else I'll post again.
I took it to ubreakifix and they told me that this is indeed a known issue with pixel xl's that they all suffered from a faulty motherboard and that is indeed the cause here. Said he thought there was actually a class action about it so I'll have to look into it. Really pisses me off that Google repeatedly told me it's not a known issue when their authorized repair center says it is.
Anyway i have a warranty with Upsie that I'm hoping to get this replaced with. We'll see.

Good luck
I'm assuming you tried booting into twrp recovery, going to reboot, and picked slot A ( or B if already in A) to reboot to and then rebooted system? A lot of the times simply switching slots from recovery and then rebooting is the fix. At least for me.
手机早期经历的情况得说明一下。root没有?Twrp是谁的?
Also, for anyone else having this issue, try rebooting into the bootloader. Connect to PC, and try fastboot --set-active=a
If this doesn't work, try booting back into your recovery image using fastboot boot *whatever you named your TWRP recovery image* and then flashing your twrp.zip again in recovery, and when rebooting if you're in slot B choose slot A in recovery to boot into.
Also keep in mind in Windows 10, it uses Powershell, so commands have to be typed in .\fastboot not just fastboot or it won't take it.
