disappeared apps after reboot - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, from yesterday I noticed this issue. Just after bought M8, I unlocked it and put on device new release of ViperOne M8.
But something strange happened the first time I*rebootphone after had restored my backup (of my HCT One 2013) and applied some (simple) tweaks: it seems that this reboothas caused several apps to disappear from the app drawer. If I look under Settings>Apps, I can see entries such as "com.developer.appname" with a grayed out icon (in place of the normal app name and icon). Nothing helps. Reinstalling works until the next reboot. Same results when I un install then reinstall. Even a factory reset had no effect. The same apps are affected each time.
It seems (I’m not sure) that only apps downloaded and installed from Playstore are not affected by this problem…
After*I*even*tried*another release (Insertcoin 2.3.2) andremoving*external SD card…*bur*no changes, apps*alwaysdisappeared after reboot.
I made backup with “My Backup”.
Any suggestion to solve? Thanks

[Q] Cannot uninstall any app or download/intsall from Market!

Hi
While I was updating so many apps at the same time on the market the last two apps stuck at "installing" i tried stopping them but there was no option to do so.. tried to install another app but the install button only turned grey. So I waited till the two app that were stuck disappeared.
When I looked for those two apps they were not in my device and the "install" button shows on their market page (instead of "uninstall" like other installed apps) as they are not actually installed!
The strange thing is that I noticed few apps missing (like angry birds) even though they were not with the apps I recently updated.
Another strange thing is that I cannot uninstall any app it gets stuck at the uninstalling screen (uninstalling from Settings>>Applications)
Tried rebooting, taking the battery off, taking the SD card off, clearing the cache from the recovery menu... but none of those worked!
Any help please?
EDIT: You might want to know that my phone is rooted. Do you guys thing the problem is related to the SD card?
The disk drive does not show in my computer when I connect the usb cable! (I choose Disk Drive not Charge Only on my phone)
I'm about to wipe the memory.. Does any of you have an idea how to solve this? I really don't want to delete everything!
I had to reset to factory settings when I had the same problem.

Malware or overreacting?

Last night I downloaded an app from the market: Anttek App Manager. I didn't really need it, I just came across it & it seemed like a good program that I could use to replace a couple of other apps.
I opened up the program & didn't do anything. I did grant it superuser permissions when it opened, but did nothing else except browse through & get a feel for the interface.
Suddenly I was having a force close party all over the screen. Market, maps, settings, homescreen, anything system was force closing. I tried opening settings to uninstall the app but it force closed immediately. Tried with Market, same result. I could get into user apps to uninstall but when it tried to uninstall through the system uninstaller it would force close. I finally uninstalled through Titanium Backup. I was still getting force closes so I rebooted. After the reboot I could open system apps again. I checked my apps in settings & the app was gone from he downloaded tab but remained under the all tab. I uninstalled again. I checked through root explorer & it wasn't there, but in protected apps there was a downloadfile.apk that was timestamped with when I rebooted. I emailed it to myself to check out later if needed & deleted the file.
What do you guys think? Was it just something buggy that I'm blowing out of proportion or is it something to worry about?
Edit: I'm running cyanogenmod 6.1.2 if it matters.
I honestly dont know if it was something malicious or not. I had an issue when I downloaded an app (Don't remember what it was) and it downloaded 300+ downloadfile.apk. As you probably guessed it filled up my sd card. In my case I found it prudent to do a complete wipe and reflash my ROM. I set everything back up and havent had any more issues.
I would probably wipe and start over or Nandroid back to before you downloaded the app. Just my opinion...
Yeah, I think I'm just going to restore from a backup. I just don't want to have to reflash my theme & font, but it doesn't take that long, I'm just lazy.
I was wondering if there's anyway a virus could go deeper than what is changed by wiping/flashing/restoring? I'm somewhat technologically literate but when it comes to the deep down stuff I'm lost.

Can't Uninstall Apps from Play Store (and more frequent app update/install failures)

Hi there,
Recently I saw that I cannot uninstall apps from the Google Play store. Usually when viewing an app that is installed on my device, there are options for "open" or "uninstall".
The "uninstall" option is not present right now. I noticed this only a day ago (relative to the post date of this post)
The only major changes I know I have made to my device are that I moved a few apps to the "2nd partition" of the SD card via Link2SD, and I put a large amount of videos on the main partition of my SD card (though I don't know why this would affect Google Play not being able to uninstall stuff)
I have a rooted Tab S running stock (no custom ROMs), and I am running Lollipop and have disabled OTA updates
Any ideas?
I am in the same boat RE missing the uninstall option in Google Play Store. I even did a clean re-install of the ROM (IronRom 2.5) I'm using, with no success.
Hopefully the option reappears again soon. It's a pain to have to uninstall via settings.
EDIT: Also having the same issue on my old Motorola Xoom tablet that my daughter is now using - running OmniRom 4.4.4.
Have you done anything like moving apps using Link2SD or anything?
I think this could be a cause for this problem...
I recently uninstalled Link2SD from my device and since then the Uninstall option has come back in Google Play

apps removed after reboot, apps closed immediately after start, apps lost their conf

Hello,
I'm using lineageOS since one month and I have several problems.
1) after reboot some apps will be removed from phone, their configuration and some folder/files are still available but I can't find them anymore, after re-install from play-store they will start with the last configuration.
2) there are some apps like stocard, most of the security apps (e.g. avira, kaspersky, ...) and so on, they will work after installation, but one or two days later they will not start anymore (just close immediately after start), I tried to reset them or/and uninstall and install again but they will not start again.
3) I tried several weather widgets e.g. Transparent clock & weather, I made all my settings to this widget and one hour later all these setting are lost again. I have the impression that other apps have the same problem but mostly I can't start them again (see 2) )
Many Thanks in advance!

After months of investigation I've found my problem - it's the SDcardFix flash! The wrong SDcardFix leads into several permission problems which make the apps unusable - they were still installed but not executable. Since I'm using the SDCardFix of the app "apps2sd" everything is working fine.

LineageOS 18.1: Problem with installing apps and data path of WhatsApp

Hello everybody,
maybe one of you can give me a hint where this problems might come from and how to fix:
I have installed LimeageOS 18.1 on my Fairphone 3+ successfully (incl. OpenGApps & Magisk) and in the beginning I was able to install some apps (e.g. WhatsApp) from my old phone (using "adb install <appName>.apk" as well as transfering the data structure(s) from the old phone to the new Fairphone (incl. fixing permissions, etc.).
The next time I wanted to continue this and install further apps from my old phone, this is blocked by the Fairphone (Signature failure). I was able to solve this by disabling the app checking when installing is done from/by adb. But the installed apps crash every time I try to start these. When I install these by the PlayStore these work. Previously I definitely was able to install apps without deactivating the security check in the system settings and these were working!
Furthermore, I had successfully installed and used WhatsApp as described previously. But: some day, BEFORE I started to install further apps using adb, WhatsApp started refusing to show the status pictures/videos as well as refuses to download pictures send to me (message: file not found on sd-card). But I still can upload pictures.
Between initial setup and installation of some apps, I've done nothing special except inserting an SD card and formatting as extension of the internal memory. At least I don't remember more...
Has anybody an idea what might have happened and how I could make things working without a full re-installation?
Any hint is welcome!
Regards,
Markus
