DualBoot Kernels for Ancora - Samsung Galaxy W I8150

Hello everyone! Thanks to @educk and @h0rn3t for their awesome dualboot project for ancora, and @theloneseeker for his amazing tutorials, I've managed to make ION kernels compatible for dualboot in secondary ROMs, in other words, you're primary ROM can be ION or non-ION, but the secondary ROM had to be non-ION build to work, but now, I've managed to make ION builds dualboot compatible. Therefore, CyanogenMod 10.1 beta 3, CyanogenMod 10.2 alpha 5, CyanogenMod 11 20140323 build (the final 20140413 seems to be unstable for some) and Dark CyanogenMod beta 3 can be installed as secondary ROMs. The procedure on how to dualboot is mentioned in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2469803, but I will still provide you with a similar guide in order to avoid errors.
**Installation Guide**:
1- Download the Dualboot1.8.apk from the mentioned thread above in the downloads section.
2- Install busybox and the Dualboot1.8.apk and grant the app root access.
3- Tap on Partitions and set the partition table according to your preference (I have a 4Gb external SD card so there are no exact values for everyone). This step takes most time so be patient.
4- Once done, tap on Tools and then Prepare flashable zip, and direct it to the ROM.zip you want to have as your secondary ROM (ION builds are now working)
5- Choose to wipe data and cache, then choose to Flash now. In recovery, tap on flash untrusted zip and after flashing is done, reboot.
6- Using a file explorer, you will see on your internal SD card that a Dualboot folder exists, and according to your secondary ROM, create a 4.2.2 (for CM 10.1) or 4.4.2 (for CM 11) and place the corresponding boot2.img that I provided. So, you should have something like Dualboot/4.4.2/boot2.img for example.
7- Go back to the Dualboot app and tap on Switch
Viola! Now, you will have ION build secondary ROM! You can have two 4.4.2 ROMs as well, or any other combination
NOTE: The kernels I made are 100% tested by me and are working with no issues whatsoever.
Credits:
-CyanogenMod Team
-Mr. Arne (arco68) for all his work.
-Mr. Radu (arsradu) for his kernel collection and bringing CM 10.2 for our device.
-Osama (Madridii) for his kernels and all his wonderful work and D CM 11 :highfive:
-Daniel (theloneseeker) for his amazing tutorials
-educk and h0rn3t for bringing dualboot feature to the i8150! :victory:
-Roderick (Tazerick) for motivating me
-lafactorial for his powerful Khan Kernel!!
-hurtsky for the rock solid HurtSky kernel!
-sir mordred for bringing TRIM to the ol' i8150 (perfectly working with dualboot)
P.S. If any user wants to have his custom kernel work with dualboot, please give the name of the kernel, the kernel version, the linux version and a link to download the kernel, and post what ROM the kernel works with (e.g. xxx kernel version x.xx.xx working with CyanogenMod X.X) and I will do my best in making the kernel work with dualboot.
I AM responsible for any damage that may happen to your device. I do not own any of the kernels or ROMs or apps that have been used to make this project possible. If any user encounters an issue, kindly report the issue and post exactly what your steps are. The guide posted here is the same as educk mentioned but maybe more simplified. I do not deserve any credit, I only made the kernels dualboot compatible but I didn't build these kernels. The kernels posted are the default kernels of the ROMs (simply extracted the boot.img only). Good luck to everyone

The new kernels require lib files in addition to the boot2.img, so I included the files with them. All you have to do is put all the files together in the sub-folder of your kernel for example Dualboot/4.3.1/**put boot2.img and all other .ko files here**

the ion problem was a major bummer but now we are good to go

Thanks man! :good: a question: can i use a ICS ROM as primary ROM, like it was with the dualboot by educk?
Edit: and the dualboot can affect performances/battery life?

Sure you can my friend, the primary ROM can be any Android ROM even Gingerbread, but the secondary ROM must be Jellybean and upward (tried making Gingerbread kernel dualboot compatible but it soft-bricked my phone). I repeat, this is the same procedure as educk and h0rn3t posted and all I did is add kernels to make ION kernels compatible to feed my dualboot hunger and the others as well
As for the performance and battery life, dualboot has nothing to do with it, instead, the ROM and kernel you use (on the primary and secondary partitions) are what determines the performance, e.g. if you use CM9 with hurtsky kernel on primary ROM and CM11 with stock kernel on secondary ROM, it's the same as saying you are 100% using CM9 on primary and similarly for CM11 and dualboot has no effect whatsoever on your combination, in other simplified words, dualboot for ancora by educk and h0rn3t is amazing (better than the one I have on i9100) since it creates two phones in one, so performance is based on what you are using.
***IMPORTANT NOTE*** After some testing, I realized that two custom kernels on primary and secondary Kitkat ROMs breaks the secondary ROM's WiFi and GPS, so if you are using CM11 with Khan Kernel on primary, and any other 4.4.2 ROM with hurtsky or khan kernel as well on secondary ROM for example, you will not be able to use WiFi and GPS whereas primary ROM remains unaffected, and the battery life and performance on secondary ROM are unaffected and the same as using it as primary ROM. The same happens if you use the same custom kernel on primary and secondary ROMs. So if anyone dualboots two 4.4.2 ROMs like me, use custom kernel on primary ROM and stock ROM kernel of the ROM you're using (download links are in first post). This has been tested on Android Kitkat so I don't know the consequences of two custom kernels on Jellybean. Just wanted to add this as a "Heads-up" so no one spams the threads of CM11 or any other thread accidentally. Good luck to all fellow dualbooters!!!

Of course I will my dear brother , all you have to do is ask and I'll supply you with a big number of kernels! I honestly stopped updating the thread since I believe that adding kernels just it would not interest users, but it's about time I release updated kernels. Feel free to post any kernel you want for any ROM, and I'll add it for you and everyone once it's done. By the time you read this post, I'll be adding new kernels in the second post, and I come with excellent news about the KitKat dualboot issue mentioned up there in the sixth post.
In order to fix the issue that persists upon dualbooting two KitKat 4.4.2 ROMs (in which using a custom kernel instead of the original ROM's kernel on the secondary ROM is breaking the secondary ROM's WiFi and GPS), the solution is quite simple. As I previously said, the primary ROM, no matter what kernel you use, is not affected. So, here it goes. Let's assume you want to install the latest CyanogenMod 11 build by Mr. Arne which was built on the 21st of May, and you decided to install the ROM on the secondary partition, but you want to install the latest HurtSky kernel with the build, yet, you know that custom kernels are breaking some essential components on the secondary ROM (In fact, this happens with any ROM other than KitKat if you use a custom kernel, and the fix works for any Android version). All you have to do is download the latest HurtSky kernel .zip file, extract the "system" file included with the kernel (there is META-INF folder, system folder, and boot.img, but we only need the system folder). Open the CyanogenMod-11.zip you want to install using WinRAR or WinZip or 7zip (basically any archiver should work), you will also see the same folders, but you need to navigate to /system/lib/modules and you will see some .so files (about 6), so delete them all. Replace these files with the .so files we extracted from the HurtSky kernel we downloaded (remember the extracted "system" folder from HurtSky's kernel) and once all the files are in place, your CM 11 ROM is ready for dualboot BUT ONLY to be used with the HurtSky custom kernel. IF you want to use another kernel, or maybe the default one, do the same steps as above and WiFi won't be affected anymore. Here is a listed summary:
1- Download the ROM.zip you want, open it and navigate to system/lib/modules.
2- Delete all the .so files found in the /system/lib/modules folder (only the files that look the same in the kernel's /system's folder)
3- Download any custom kernel you like to use in the secondary ROM, open it, and extract the "system" folder.
4- Add the .so files in the extracted 'system" folder from the kernel to your ROM.zip in /system/lib/modules.
5- You now have a dualboot-ready ROM to be used with the specific custom kernel you chose. (always make a NAndorid Backup just in case)
If anyone faces any issue or wants to have a new kernel, I am more than happy to help, give solutions, and add up some more kernels. As I said, I will be always testing dualboot to find any issues and reproduce them in order to be fixed. I always dualboot two 4.4.2 ROMs (currently on Paranoid Android by my brother Osama, and the latest CyanogenMod 11 build by Mr. Arne). Have any request? Need some help? Don't be shy to ask! Good luck to everyone!

:good: really thanks for all your work, I really appreciate this dual boot feature

[List][4.2][22/01] List of Modded Ready For Dualboot ROMs [With Links]

Derteufel did an amazing thing when he released his dualboot kernel for the SGS. However, you couldn't flash a ROM without some work.
My objective is to stop that. So i have made a list (with links) of roms modded to ready for dualboot. My deadline is to have roms uploaded and/or updated by every Sunday.
Let's start ;
Androslim v2.1:
Cyanogenmod 10.1 nightly 20130119:
CyanAOSP 0.5.2:
Hellybean 20120118:
Slim i9000-4.2.1.RC.1-OFFICIAL:
YOU STILL HAVE TO FLASH THE DUALBOOT KERNEL FOR THE FIRST TIME!!!
Packages (Gapps etc) are not included. Please get them from their respective ROM threads.
Thanks:
MASSIVE thanks to Derteufel1980 (make sure to say thanks to him)
All developers who's roms are posted here
Stratosk (who's kernel is in most of the roms)
Kasper_h (kernel developer)
Please press thanks if you download from any of these links and press thanks to the ROM developers.
Notes:
Guys, there's no point to this thread anymore because derteufel changed the way the kernel works so theres no need for modification. All my hard work down the drain
I am not responsible if anything happens to your phone or life!!!
Thanks for making a modded version of CyanAOSP, saved me from uploading the one I made.
Also , it is Androslim 2.1 and not Andromirror 2.1.
Andromirror is a ROM hosting site not a ROM itself

You would do better to replace the boot.img in the ROM zips with the devil dual boot one , then we wont have to reflash kernel.
BTW , you are doing one hell of a job.
Hit a snag roms will be up by Friday.

HOW TO FLASH A CUSTOM ROM
Do a backup of your apps (you can use Titanium Backup, Helium Backup, App2Zip,... obviously you need root; if you came from a stock firmware: either you root it, or you can use Huawei Backup, but don't forget to find also a way to backup this app or to download it in order to restore your apps after the flash)
Do a Nandroid Backup, ie a full backup with CWM/TWRP. To flash or emulate a custom recovery, if you don't know how to do it, you can use my tool (useful also for other stuff)
Wipe cache, dalvik and data (sometimes you need to wipe /system too)
Install zip from sdcard... (in twrp just "Install") > Select the rom
Reboot
PS: if you are UPGRADING to the newest version from the same rom (ex. MK 44.2 09/03 -> MK 44.2 02/04) you don't have to wipe neither data nor system, unless the same chef suggest to do it
HOW TO FLASH A STOCK ICS/JB FIRMWARE
Do a backup of your apps (you can use Titanium Backup, Helium Backup, App2Zip,... obviously you need root; if you came from a stock firmware: either you root it, or you can use Huawei Backup)
If you have flashed a custom recovery, go back to the stock recovery, or it won't work. If you don't know how to go back, you can use my tool (useful also for other stuff)
Download the intermediate pack
Create a folder in your sd and rename it "dload"
Copy the intermediate pack's update.app in dload
Create another folder in your sd and rename it "dloadold"
Download the stock firmware and place update.app in dloadold
Be sure that you have more than 85% of battery
Turn off the phone and reboot it pressing - and holding - vol+, vol- and power
The recovery will do the rest. At the end you will have the intermediate fw.
Now open the default file manager: delete dload and rename dloadold in dload.
Repeat the step 9.
PAY ATTENTION: If you download the JB Chinese version, remember that it's in chinese language! Anyway, you can flash with custom recovery a language enabler pack (download it here)

[ROM] AP_V5 by Mcdonald
Reformulated rom, purged of most of Huawei and with very little customization.
Base B315/534
The rom has stock toggles, brand new bootanimation, e-mail and generic Huawei.
Free ram always above the 400 mb,
very fast and slightly modified kernel.
Charging Animation works.

Add on: http://dh.st/I5U
Update_V5: http://dh.st/8PZ
Full wipe, flash V3, addons, and start the phone, configure and after flash v5_update.
Important as always you first set up the apn.

PS: what do you mean with gray boxes (I'm saying: to do what? xD)
To highlight text, under the title for example.. I've just discovered this function.
PS: the AP v5?
there is also a Marismillas b534 with additional governor and features (if someone remove the emui gUi & apps.. it will be ok!)

Aaaaaah ok, if there will be an occasion to use it I'll do 4 ex I was thinking to add pros and cons of every ROM and l could put them in these grey boxes.. besides it, when I have more time I'll add marismillas one (are you sure it works well? I didn't tried it: if you know that it is a good ROM without important bugs I'll add it in the next edit Remember that thread's title is "All the GOOD-WORKING ROMs for p1")
Oh, why have I to put AP5? Isn't AP7.5 better? (I don't know, I'm asking )

Will be great if you write after every ROM, the date when you updated it lastly.
This is just advice, because for example, everyone see when you change the first post, but no one knows wich ROM and link to it, you update

I suggest you to flash the AP 7.5.3 !
the best choose for radio-FM lovers and Android Pure fun. It is very smooth and stable. I use it from 3 months and works very well (70+ user apps). Kernel b705 will be updated to 707 in January to solve HUAWEI video forwarding bug (and probably increase battery performance).
Emui was been suppressed, you find the Classic firmware-based Ui.
Battery life more improved, very very good work.
(Looking at next major update with b707)
AP v7 is the way.
Happy Christmas

All these roms are really stable... Often it's a personal "taste".
According to me, I prefer B704_ATX, CM10.2 and AP7.5.3
I remember that bt not works properly in slimbean and CM10.2/CM11 based roms.. Are you sure that these are working fully ?

In the last version Spanorg fixed a lot of issues related to Bluetooth.. Regarding CM11, yes it is true that Bluetooth doesn't work, but for the rest it is really stable so why not insert it in this guide? And yes, Slimbean is stopped at the v7 but almost it is pretty fluid

[KK 4.4.4][ROM]Mackay ROM 4.9.13 (11-Oct-2014)

I have been sharing my CM7/CM9/CM10/CM10.1/CM10.2-based builds for some time in several thread, which culminated in the MackayROM. I continue now with KK4.4 from where I was for JB4.3. MackayROM is based on CyanogenMod sources, with several performance enhancements.
About Cyanogen: CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 4.4 (KitKat), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
If you run into errors, I may not be able to solve it!
If you know a solution to a problem, either upload it yourself to Gerrit Code Review or contact me through pm.
The ROM is based on Cyanogen sources with the following changes:
-Mackay Kernel:
-Set of cherries picked from gerrit (differing by the day)
-Some additional patches I did myself to the source code
Feature request are OK, but remember:
1. I try to stay close to stock
2. I will not include additional apps, unless they can be build from source
3. The time I spend on features depends on how much I like them myself
Although it is possible to enable ART, this is not advisable:
-Takes long to convert from Dalvik to ART on first boot
-Needs more RAM
-Can cause soft reboots
But off course, YMMV -> light users may have better luck
Changelog of 4.9.14 - 5-Nov-2014
-CM11.0 codebase of 3-Nov-2014
-TWRP updated to 2.8.1.0
Full changelog of 4.9.14 compared to stock CM11.0:
CM11.0 sources of 3-Nov-2014
Mackay kernel:
Separate kernel thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2532813
TWRP (2.8.1.0):
-Themed orange
-Run recovery-apps (zip files should be present in /system/mackay, launch them through advanced->run app)
Removed apps:
-VideoEditor & demo VideoFiles
vendor/cm:
-Adapt for custom MackayROM building (bootanimation, ROM&file name)
-Custom bootanimation (Thanks to Malcho)
vendor/samsung:
-Added scripts for Mackay Settings
hardware/samsung:
-F4k 720p patch for bigmem kernels
AriesParts (“Mackay Settings” in Settings menu):
Add mackay kernel settings options:
>WiFi PM mode selection
>BLX settings
>BLN activation
>Navbar selection
>Low RAM mode selection
For other projects (frameworks/base & Settings, check my github for the latest patches)
Coming from stock Samsung ROM/CM7:
-The safest way is to flash CM9 first and then flash Mackay ROM. Going directly from Samsung ROM/CM7 to Mackay ROM may lead to loosing IMEI.
Fresh install:
Can be flashed on top of any CyanogenMod build:
-Do a factory reset
-Flash ROM
-Flash gapps
-Reboot your phone
Update:
-Flash ROM
-Reboot your phone
(no wipes or other things needed, just flash & reboot)
-Custom kernels can be used only if specific for KK4.4
Credits:
-teamhacksung/pawitp for making CyanogenMod work on our ancient phone
-stratosk/DerTeufel/Mialwe for the inspiration I got from their kernels
-rootax for providing a high-speed server for high quality downloads
-Malcho for his kernel splash & bootanimation

Kernel is TWRP-only at the moment.
Download link on XDA fileserver has been restored. Download link on rootaxbox will take quite a bit more time, needs a full re-upload & uploadspeed is very slow ATM.

I always build these ROMs myself from CM sources + my own additions to CM sources, so no need for "official" CM11 builds to enable my own ROMs to be build.

Yes, in principle every gapps KK4.4 package should work. However, I only tested the package which I linked in OP.

Thanks for KK rom :good: :good:
OP's link to Gapps contains five different builds- some with ART compatibility. Is there a preferred one? ART works/tested, or better stick to delvik for a little while?
A few things I noticed:
- If I select Performance settings from Mackay app, Settings force closes.
- Orientation tile is buggy, sometimes it seems to work, sometimes not.
The ROM is very snappy, thank you very much for your work!
Kasper_h installed this rom and I have a bug. When I want to enable high-speed data connections settings crashes me the error: com.android.systemui and closing forces. Framework to overloads.
Thanks for the rom, There isnt any bug list?
Installed on CM11 and works fine.No forced closure and fast enough to be a test.
so no separate kernel 0.600

[ROMS][KK][From Source] Sonic ROM [SOKP] & [PORTED] XenonHD & BeanStalk

Hello Everyone!!
So here is a new ROM I compiled yesterday, it does have a lot of features and it is called SONIC OPEN KANG PROJECT
I didn't open a new thread for it because I'm not gonna be updating it unless many users encourage me to do so...
Anyway I thought I should share it with you guys, for who ever wanna test it
Here is this ROM's features:
http://sonic-developers.com/?page_id=160
Also here is a quick review for the ROM:
And for more info visit their website:
http://sonic-developers.com
Download Link:
I've started uploading my files to androidfilehost.com , hoping you like it more than Dev-host
SOKP-MS-04-KK444-KTU84Q-20140726-amami.zip
Here are my screenhots as well:
Hello Guys,
Since our lovely Z1C is relatively new, it doesn't have many CM based ROMs, so I thought why not porting some
from the closest phone to ours (which is obviously Xperia Z1).
So I'll be presenting five ports for five ROMs as mentioned in the title, but I'm gonna start with a simple guide for how to port the ROM yourselves
All you have to do to port a CM11 based ROM from Z1 is:
Download the Z1 ROM and extract it wherever you want
Open META-INF\com\google\android\updater-script with any text editor and remove first five lines (assert)
Download This for old builds, and This for new builds, then unzip it
Copy and replace "boot.img" from the previous zip to your Z1 ROM
Copy and replace "modules" folder to system\lib\modules in your Z1 ROM
Open system/build.prop with any text editor and change this value:
Code:
# Graphics
ro.sf.lcd_density=480
to become:
Code:
# Graphics
ro.sf.lcd_density=320
that is it, although there are optional things you may do before compressing the ported ROM:
In system/build.prop search for honami and replace them with amami
And then search for C6903 and replace them with D5503
Also you may wonna add "Compact" here:
ro.product.model=Xperia Z1 Compact
Click to collapse
You may also open META-INF\com\android\metadata and do the same replaces
Resign the ROM.zip after compressing it
Important Notes:
DO THIS ON YOUR OWN RISK
You must be running KK ROM before flashing these ROMs down below
This method won't work on Slimkat, although you can grab it from Here
All bugs in these ROMs are related to the original ROM not issues caused by posting
Fell free to report any bugs you face though, and I'll enlist them in known issues
PacMan ROM and MoKee ROM are officially supported, so there is no need to port them
Instructions for all ROMs down below:

Great work!
I wonder if you would do Slimrom also, it is a mainstream ROM with many innovations that other ROMs have copied.
[edit] Duh I just read your comment about slimkat. That'll learn me to read OPs properly...
wow, this looks good, i think ill try MoKee, just one question, is everything working ?
Just flash rom and some gapps ?

Well I didn't test everything, but the ROM was flawless, wifi is OK
Yes just flash rom and some gapps, try it and give a nice feedback
Might be a dumb question, but will updating them through the rom settings mess anything up?

I don't expect updates to appear in the ROM's settings, but if they do,
yes updating that way should mess up a lot, it should make a bootloop.
anyway if you see an update for the ROM you're using, just tell me and I'll port the new release right away

Yeah it's been a week, so here are the Updates of this week:
Updated Carbon ROM to build 4 (2014-04-09)
Updated MoKee ROM to build 2014-04-04 (its kernel was updated to FXP314)
Added XenonHD ROM latest release build 5 [2014-04-02] (download link in second post)
it is very customizable (can't describe it enough)
you can check more info about it in its main thread
about the kernel update, it seems like FXP team have messed up thier kernel a little
so when I tried it on Carbon and XenonHD I got some sort of bootloop,
but it worked fine on MoKee, so MoKee is the only ROM that has FXP314 kernel,
I don't recommended anyone to use it for porting so I didn't upload it

Actually the problem is not much with the latest kernel, but rather with the ROMs:
Recently there was a huge changeset merged in CM tree, among other things it took in kernel a lot of CAF code\blobs from 4.4 Sony sources, and Xperia CM ROM was rebased on this CAF kernel.
It means, that the ROMs based on CM must be rebuild using latest sources, otherwise they'll have a bootloop with the new CAF kernel =)

unfortunately yes, if you want to flash a custom kernel, you have to have an unlocked bootloader (and that is required to flash custom ROM)

[Z00L][KERNEL]Better Battery Backup v2

UPDATE: I really no longer have the time to update the custom kernels, I now work 16 hours days, 5-6 days weekly. With travelling time added, I barely have time to sleep.
Battery optimization is about choosing the right rom, tuning cpu governor interactive, disabling Google Play Services (use microG & tune GCM), forcing doze immediately, disabling ads, using black/white screen, app optimization (disable analytics, instant messaging), plus many other things.
Identify the rom, the base (aosp or lineage), can choose to use any of the kernels below if it is based on the same base. A backup of your original rom's kernel is in the rom.zip file, simply extract it and restore if encounter any problems.
I have created a guide here
(Please don't quote the original 1st post when replying, as everything is in progress, not written yet,
Please don't ask for ETAs, I'm only doing this in my limited spare time, thank you)
My kernels are NOT flash-and-forget, please READ through post #1, then CONFIGURE using Kernel Adiutor Mod (see post #2)

BACKUP YOUR PARTITIONS!!!
Before attempting to flash any kernel/rom, backup your critical partitions! It's meaningless to ask for help when disaster strikes. Follow the links below, root is required.

Which ROM? Note that I don't own the device, and I need you to post a screenshot of the kernel version or commits if any. (Phone Settings > About Phone > Kernel Version). I won't be able to flash or test the kernel.
