Facetime for Android - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3

What are you using for FACETIME on your Note 3?
Did searches and not finding many good results such as Google Hangout. Many user say Google Hangout very poor and not a good substitute.
Any suggestions?

There is no Facetime client for Android, so your question is pretty much moot.
If you mean video chat, Google Hangouts works great for me.
I use Skype also.

Thanks for your response. Yes, I mean video chat. With Skype the receiver must use Skype, too. If not, there is a charge (?) for using Skype without receiver using Skype.
Tried Google Hangouts and immediately I get unsolicited messages from people I don't know?

I always leave my chat clients offline. I only turn them on if I know I'm going to video chat with someone.
Skype is free for both parties if you both use the client and have Skype accounts.
Unfortunately there's no way to block unsolicited requests in Hangouts. I just add unknown people to my block list if they try and message me while I am online.

Is there an option to identify FAVORITES rather than FRIENDS? With FRIENDS you see all of your contacts.

for video chat Hangouts is perfect, the reason you are getting unsolicited chats is because your gmail address was leaked to bots from craigslist, dirty sites etc and you accepted them into your friends. delete them and you'll be fine.

When you log into gmail, the solicitation contacts should show up on your chat list on the bottom left, you can block them from there.

Thanks again for trying to help.

In that case, from your phone Hangouts, go to the unwanted person's message - then hit the menu button and click People & Options > Block XXXX XXXXX person
if you continue to get new messages from random strangers all the time then maybe it might be time to consider getting another gmail account and giving this one only to friends / family members

Thanks for all the help and suggestions. I think I will stay with Tango for now as it is working fine for me. The only shortcomings are:
1. I cannot find a place/menu/settings to disable INVITE?
2. Is there an option to identify FAVORITES rather than FRIENDS? With FRIENDS you see all of your contacts.

So would it be possible to make an offical-ish looking app that works like MSN on blackberrys? I bloody hate the 3rd party IM clients im currently stuck with, I only care about MSN not AIM or bloody Yahoo.

what do you mean that works on blackberrys?
If you mean one that can communicate with BBIM then thats not possible, thats only for Blackberrys.
Also there is no official android MSN app. Ebuddy works fine, you only need to add a MSN account and then it wont show or ask you about anything else. It will auto sign in your MSN account when you launch your app and then you can start chatting away. There is nothing wrong with Ebuddy
msntalk is free on the market. working very fine for me. its not adfree but not that disturbing

No no for blackberry or to communicate, I mean something that looks like the MSN app provided by Microsoft/Blackberry, I am aware of eBuddy as I currently use it, In my opinion it is nasty but also the best of them, Why I was hoping to go about getting a official looking MSN app on Android
I would love a real MSN Client. Like in Windows Mobile and BlackBerry.
With:
- Change your User Icon
- Change your Nickname
- Change your Personal Message
- Offline Messaging
- Able to send and receive buzzers
- Able to send and receive files.
- While looking good without crappy iPhone-style bubbles (Looking at you eBuddy!)

Is it just T-Mo UK that blocks MSN via 3G, then (that is, the official version on :1873).
As far as im aware the "Official" version is made and provided by Three and only works on there network
Any pictures of this 'Three' version? Also, isn't there a way to reverse engineer their stuff

I have it on my phone but it's very basic.
I can't take a picture of it because I don't get a 3G singnal in my house. When you open MSN if it dosen't detect a 3G network it says Please connect to the 3G network and then just shuts down.

Thats why transports are used to chat to your ICQ and MSN (and other IM services) buddies from Google Talk.
As I said anybody that I actually want to talk to is on MSN, In the UK ICQ or AIM weren't really popular, so everyone of interest is on MSN
Correct!
And I said I'm chatting to MSN buddies from Google Talk App...

Looking for a good all-in-one IM App

I'm looking for an app that can handle FB chat, google Talk, and my google apps chat all in one. MSN and yahoo would be great too.
Thanks!
Take a quick look at Meebo. It is pretty nice and supports a bunch of chats.
Digsby. That is all.
I use IM+, but I already had a license.
I'll say this. TRY them all and see what works best for you. There ARE several solutions.

I use imo.im as its the most reliable skype chat client (chat only no voice) better than skype lite and it handles most clients out there.

I don't use Meebo nor eBuddy, as they don't actually sign into the services on the app, they actually route the traffic through the Meebo/eBuddy servers. I don't like that (connection issues abound, and security implications).
Personally, I am waiting for Trillian.
Ebuddy has worked the best for me. I wish everyone was on Google Talk.
IM+ Is such a joke to me - it doesn't stay connected and then you can't even use multiple AIM accts. like what's the point of buying it when it doesn't work at all?
Loved it in Winmo... hopefully they fix it. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

IM+ has a way to go, I agree with the above poster. But it has come quite a long way from their original releases. I don't have connection probs, but I get timeouts on ICQ and sometimes Yahoo.
Downloading Trillian. Someone needs to port pidgin.im.

Gtalk vs G+ messenger

Hello,
What do think about them? I feel they are almost the same... can I disable talk and keep only messenger? Have any one tried that?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I wish G+ messenger had the same ICS style UI as GTalk . But on G+ you can text pics and use hangouts. The only thing I don't like about G+ messenger is there is no led notification which GTalk has.

I don't see why Google doesn't just unify all of its messaging services (Google voice/talk and g+ messenger) into one service. Hopefully that's where it's heading.

I've been talking about this with my friends for the longest time. The fact that GTalk can't send files is a kind of a huge issue for me as other wise its a great service. What I would love to see Google do is take a kind of Apple approach to it.. One messaging app that can text from your phones number or your Google voice number as you so designate, and, if the person your messaging is likewise using an Android 4.0.x and above platform, it would automatically send via data with higher limits to what you could send as opposed to text, and it would link to video calls and hangouts and such like GTalk and Messenger, can send files other than pictures.
Basically, one unified messenger to rule them all. I am not a huge apple fan, but I like the concept of iMessage and I know that if El Goog took the time to make it so, they could unify their services into one glorious messaging platform.

Unfortunately they are very different. Messenger is mobile only and requires the user have the G+ app but it does offer more features. GTalk allows you to message anyone on an Android or through the web on Gmail or G+. They really need to merge these messaging services into one as it is very confusing.

Google just bought Meebo so I would assume we will see some improvements in this area later this year or early next year at the latest. They have to know their current implementation is not very good.
I'm confused. The GTalk and GChat programs on a PC have been able to send files for years. And on the phone neither GTalk or G+ Messenger can send files, so I'm not sure where that comparison came from.
To share large files (or 300 photos) just toss them on Google Drive or Dropbox. I haven't checked, but there's also probably an app to take advantage of Wifi-Direct to "beam" it locally.
Also, G+ messenger doesn't have a standalone PC application. That is no good for unifying. I use the PC app at home/work, and phone app elsewhere. Having to keep your browser open to chat is a real nuisance IMHO.

However the GTalk client on Android does not allow for sending any files whatsoever. And while yes you could use drop box or drive or others as a workaround, what I'm saying is that including that support on the Android Platform app would be amazing. And a huge incentive to use it over regular texting.

Nevertheless - it can't be ruled out that google is already working on this (*fingers crossed*)

maybe you have added them as following? Had same problem but then I went to chat -> privacy settings and selected "my circles" and in g+ settings I selected only a few close circles as "my circles" and actually the list is waaay shorter (and is basically the same as in gtalk).

Please help! Frustrated with messaging.

I have searched high and low for a good means of messaging my friends on their Apple devices. They of course want to use nothing but their default Messenger app, and as much as I like Google Voice, it doesn't support pictures or MMS.
I've tried imo.im on both devices with Google Talk, but it's proven to be a bit of a pain, particularly on the ios side.
I'm now looking at all other options, such as Kakaotalk (though I'm in the USA), Facebook Messenger, Skype, and so on. My Nexus 7 is wifi only, and I do not own or use a cellphone (so TabletTalk and Whatsapp won't work).
Considering all of that, can someone please point me in the right direction of a good app or solution?
I just use Google Voice, all my Ipad friends have no problems with it. You do need to get a GV# for best use.

Possibly. It was like pulling teeth to get them all to try IMO.im, and because that didn't go well I'm guessing any other client I ask them to install had better be downright amazing. I was looking at Kik, Skype, Kakaotalk, or possibly Facebook Messenger (though I was worried something like Facebook Messenger or Google+ Messenger would make conversations publicly accessible, which annoys me). Any specific opinions on which would be better?

I don't trust G+ messenger anymore.. A lot of messages weren't delivered, and sending pictures is a pain in the *** I'm also searching a good messenger for me and my friends.. But there's none for me ATM. I tested every single one, like, 1000 companies got my contacts and numbers now, but nothing was good. The best, was kik, but, it's so.. Clean, too clean for me.. Sending pictures on kik is awesome and fast, also, it's the fastest messenger, even if you kill the process it still boots fast without any loading screen.. But it has like none features.. Just the standard ones.. Also it has a few.. Idk, weird things like when I receive a message from "mike" only, and open it, it goes to the contact list instead of the conversation... A no go for me.. Kik needs to grow with features, even tiny ones like what I've mentioned above.. But if you can live with a clean one, here you go, dolphinetly kik.
Oh.. I wrote a lot lol ^^

You could also use Textnow, it gives you a texting number that can recieve pictures, it's also bubble formatted messages like modern messengers (similar to iphone's) . As long as you use your number once in 90 days,it's yours forever. They've also added voip calling, but i think you have to pay for minutes on that.

Looking for a Google talk replacement. Not kick, or whatsapp.

My wife at work has some sort of Google account that allows messaging with google talk or talk.to any other messenger, even Google plus messanger doesnt work. Its very strange. Talk.to works, but its not my absolute favorite. Gtalk is antiquated, hence the reason for not using it. unfortunately she's not tech savvy to figure out what messenger she is actually using. From what it sounds like, its Google messenger and her Google messenger id even shows in g+ but she doesn't get any messages from me via g+. She's not a Google person...yet

Yes, as hearthc0re says, it's different protocols. GTalk I enjoy as it uses little to no battery life and you can maintain your conversation from gmail to your phone and keep a convo going like a threaded text message.
It'll be good to see Google get everything migrated and talking together in regards to g+ and g+ messenger.
