Help on G2 - Sprint LG G2

Since I soft bricked and then restored my phone I have been having a couple issues. The first is that my service just drops for no reason, and I only get it back from restarting the device. The second is whenever I turn my phone on, it tells me that gapps has stopped working. Should I be concerned /is there fix?

Flash the ZVC.tot, maybe something got corrupted. Did you edit the build.prop? The G2 build.prop is too big for some apps and when you edit they truncate it, giving the effects you have. I use RootExplorer and at least it gives me a warning that it will truncate the build.prop as its too big. If thats the case, next time use a build.prop editor or edit on desktop and replace original setting permissions back to rw-r-r.

Vibrate pattern. 1 long followed by 3 short?

I have seached and find reference to this pattern in multiple posts, but never an answer to what it means. Ever since ec05 my phone randomly does the pattern sometimes with no apparent problems or sometimes it happens while loading an app and then it force closes.
Thanks!

try re-flashing and that should solve your problem
Thanks, I will. I was just thinking there must be a meaning to the pattern. I seem to remember my moment did that once in a while also.

Any update if re-flashing fixed it? I'm having that problem as well, so odin again back to DI18 then flash using the update.zip again?
I have been busy all weekend and haven't had time. Will post results tomorrow. I just think there must be a description of what that means since I have had it happen on another android device also.
I think ultimately it may be a bad flash though because randomly I lose my signal and it doesn't come back until a reset. This happens when I am in a low signal area.

for what its worth, i wend to eb13 with the samsung tool then to ec05 with the update.zip and its still happening though not as frequent, can't even use my phone as my alarm as it will crash with that vibrate pattern and i'll have to pull the battery, looks like may need to take it to sprint again...

Sorry it took so long to get back here.
I finally had time yesterday to go back to DI18. I couldn't remember the hard reset recommendations so I did that before and after running Odin. I was going to run the update.zip, but got sidetracked. When I got back to my phone it had d/l the OTA. I ran that then did another hard reset and cleared the cache. Then I ran 2.5.5 one click, and I may have even did one more hard reset at that time. (I know a little anal)
I also formatted my SD card (I think I read somewhere that this can be an issue also)
Since then I restored user apps and data through titanium and I have not had a single problem with the vibrate error.
The only thing I haven't tried on my phone is Sprint ID.
I'm thinking there are four possibilities, my flash to di18 may have been bad, the update.zip I used was slightly corrupted or didn't install properly, the SD card had issues now solved by the format, or it's Sprint ID.

You can view files in data/tombstones/ to find out which app is FCing.
can you elaborate on the hard reset?

sorry maybe "hard reset" isn't used anymore, from the WinMO days.
if this happens to you check and see if you have the whoisit app installed this is what caused it on my epic just uninstall it
The 1-3 vibrate thing means an app has force-closed. If you are getting a lot of this after flashing a new rom and restoring apps and data, it probably means that the data is corrupted or not in a format that the new rom can deal with.
The only time this has happened to me is after I have gone from a rom based on eclair to a rom based on froyo, and even then it was the phone data, not the app data.

This mean that there is some corrupt data and that you need to do a system restore from a previous backup or reflash to fix this problem. Usually this happens when your phone turns off randomly or when you forget to wipe the partition or dalvik cache when flashing a Rom or a system file such as stock browser or keyboard through clockwork mode.

The lock screen disappearing and the power menu going away is a bug that can randomly happen apparently. You probably trigged this bug by going into the lcdtest menu (typing *#0#* or whatever it is). The only way to fix this is a master reset. Just avoid using the lcdtest menu and it shouldn't happen again.

alright will try to do a master reset again and not do the lcd test this time .....

it's all in the software
keep an eye on what you are installing, and how the apps behave in the phone
some apps stay in the background if you don't exit them properly
the screen lock bug is a known issue that gets triggered after you run some test
to get it back just restore everything back to default using factory wipe
did the factory reset .... and didnt do any test .... yet the second day the lock screen disappeared and the third day the restarting happened and still it continues

yea I'm sure its just a software issue hopefully its fixed soon.
but I've tried everything. like the person above from me said, it happened on the second day.
I've tried factory resetting the phone and even flashing a stock rom and no go. its gone.
im not having the restart issue though
hope everything will be fixed in ice cream sandwich .... the lock screen in that is a facial recognition ... so hope it will be a huge improvement ... cant wait for that .... just read somewhere that samsung might get ice cream sandwich to s2 users as early as December
Will samsung be releasing a patch before ICS to address the pattern draw lockscreen issue? This is the only problem preventing me from leaving the sensation and jumping onboard the SGS2. I carry a lot of sensitive material, so that would be a huge security breach.
Ive only had this issue when the phone boots on. There are unlock icons but i see my homescreen and the phone is locked. Rooted to jugs 2.6 and still the same thing.

This was a big deal with the Samsung Behold 2. I am surprised samsung repeated this software defect with such a high end phone. I wonder if there will be a patch for this before the ICS update. IMO this is worse than the vertical lines!
Problem Solved
i actually figured out a way to restore my lock screen back.
Note: This involves messing with the efs folder. So do this at you own risk
also, your phone must be rooted in order to do this.
Tools Needed:
1. Hex Editor
2. Root Explorer
Steps to restore:'
1. Using root explorer locate the /efs/imei/ folder. In that folder there should be a file called keystr. In my case the file was missing which is why the lock screen was missing and was causing my problems.
2. using root explorer create a new file called keystr
3. also in root explorer open the file keystr in text editor and type ON
4. now go into hex editor and locate the /efs/imei/keystr file.
5. using hex editor the first two values in green should be 4f and 4e. all others should be 00.
6. make sure you save the file.
7. reboot.
Sorry to bring up and old thread but I just wanted to have it here incase anyone has the same problem in the future. I had the same problem as well after running LCD Test. To fix it I followed the solution on this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1401723&highlight=lock
It fixed my problem without a factory reset!

[Q] Captivate sometimes doesn't fully turn on

Hi all,
I have a fairly frequent issue with my Glide Captivate. Unfortunately too frequently, when I turn it on, the network is disabled (O with slash through it), most widgets say "Loading Widget..." the slide down status menu shows nothing (well except the Wifi / BT / GPS toggles.) and "USB Connected" if it is. Nothing else. The phone gets incredibly hot, and near as I can tell sucks the battery. The screen often won't unlock - it will just light up the 4 soft buttons on the bottom (menu, home, etc). When I CAN get on it, I get frequent "Sorry! Process system is not respoding"
Attempting to go through System / Manage Applications - usually about a minute in the screen will blank for a minute then go back to the lock screen.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
Try re flashing the rom, if you're using one. If you're not using a rom, and it's not rooted, try restoring it?

Could be a hardware issue if you have a warrenty i would complain and try and get a new one which means you need to flash a non rooted stock rom i dont know if you can do this ive never had to remove root

Hey i had the same issue for months with my glide. I bought it outright from rogers and was just running it stock. Drove me nuts exchanged the phone 3 times. Finally narrowed it down to the media scanner/sd card issue. The scanner would run a few times and then reboot the phone. I tried booting it without the sd card in and booted up fine. Tried a dew diff sd cards and seem to have found one that works, but it would happen once every few weeks for me. Ive looked it up on the forums its that common problem with samsung phones. Pain in the butt. Cant remember if you said you were rooted id recommend trying that im too chicken myself. Happens on my sgs2 also.

I have also this issue once in a while, its very annoying, I think that if we could have a AOSP rom that would fix it since samsung polluted their rom so much. Maybe if we get lucky, with the ICS/JB update that issue will be gone. I have also another issue, the phone randomly turns "off" and becomes really hot, it depends on how long it takes for me to realize, but most of the time, it has drained my battery to near death. I don't think those are hardware related issues, but more on the software side since its not AOSP.
Does the temperature rise when it's charging? Because that happens to my phone too. If you have the voltage control, try lowering the max cpu use to lower the temperature a little bit.

Phone not playing sounds

Was trying to kill the sounds from the camera and came across a thread that said to copy volume.db to system\etc and in terminal emulator type kill all mediaserver
since i did that, i have no sound at all, phone doesn't ring and doesn't play media
how do i undo that command?

When you reboot, media server should be initialized again and everything should be fine again.
rebooting does not work, tried it several times
seems like everything is turned off, including vibrate...any other ideas?
i'm stock, but rooted
perhaps delete volume.db and then restart.
Or type mediaserver into terminal emulator
Worst case: titanium backup and then odin.
i think it's the phone...odin'd back to stock and still no sounds or vibrate
how annoying
taking to sprint store...thanks for trying to help
Try deleting.the db file to where u copied it to. then reboot phone and see what happens. if it doesnt work, reodin an check box reparttion, then try

volume.db has since been deleted, in fact there never was one in that location, so there's no backup
reodin'd with repartition checked and still no good.
it's weird cause both the speaker and vibration is not working...how does a hardware issue break both at the same time? and why doesn't an odin work either
Can u send me the link to that thread about moving the db file please? i want to read the instruction...in every instruction there is a revert method... sometimes its just hard to notice it.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
i found the link through google, and looking at it now, it is instructions for the s3 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1722136
hence no original volume.db in the location specified, so technically all i really did was a killall task
i think it is coincidence that sounds/vibrate went out the same day i did this. i got a free replacement from sprint

LG G3 rebooting every few minutes

I've had my G3 for over a month now without many issues, however yesterday evening my phone randomly rebooted itself, and ever since reboots every few minutes, often when I unlock my phone or shortly after. I have booted in to safe mode, and reflashed both the latest i and j firmware updates but no success.
Any ideas or anything I can try to dig in to the issue further?
By any chance did you enable ART runtime in settings? Otherwise maybe you have a corrupt sdcard.
Did you try booting into recovery to delete the cache? All else fails, you might need to factory reset.

Its probably due to either overheating or you messed with something in the build.prop.
First is your phone rooted? If it is then did you do anything system-wise? (Xposed framework or edit the build.prop or attempt to "flash" something)?

Thanks, unfortunately I'm still on Dalvik, and have removed my sdcard to try and remove another piece from the puzzle. I've factory reset and also flashed both an i and a j kdz using LGFlashTool2014.

I've had Xposed installed with a few modules since I first had the phone, and hadn't added any new modules recently, although I guess possibly one of them may have updated. I've since done a factory reset and flashed however so can no longer check. Would I be right to assume the re-flash would have put everything back in a stock state?

Sounds like one of the chips is overheating. Maybe not be seating with the heatsink or whatever is supposed to help it keep cool. Ide take it back and get a replacement.

Interesting development, I flashed the Deviant CM11 AOSP rom on to it (using Tethered TWRP) and whilst it couldn't do much it lasted a whole day without rebooting. Unfortunately flashing the stock firmware or any other kdz back to the device causes the rebooting again. I'm still suspecting it could be a thermal issue, the phone wasn't exactly being stressed on Deviant.
