[Q] Showbox.apk - Fire TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Did anyone here get the Showbox to work on the firetv? I was able to sideload it but when I launch the app it comes with the message Please check your internet connection. All the other apps are working fine with the internet. Also, there are people on Ebay that are selling them with showbox preloaded. They have even pictures posted where it shows that it works. Please if anyone is able to get it to work let me know how.
Thanks in advance

NFL Mobile app/hdmi

I have a Galaxy Nexus on Verizon running stock Jellybean. I am a huge football fan and love the live streaming on the nfl mobile app. I would love it even more if i was able to stream it to the TV using the hdmi but everytime i connect it, the app recognizes that it is streaming and stops it saying "hdmi detected". Is anyone aware of a work around? I searched everywhere but couldnt find anything other than some apps for the droid x. Any suggestions? Thanks for the consideration.
any ideas?
There has to be a way. I have seen other threads with this topic but they all went unanswered....anyone wanna be the hero and find the answer?
i dont think we're gonna see a fix for this anytime soon can someone tell us if it's even possible?
I was hoping the exact same thing. Seems like you should be able to watch it on MHL adapter / HDMI if you're paying for it. Grrrr....

Netflix outside of US?

I'm in Australia and have Netflix working fine on my Roku 3 using a DNS service. But I'm not sure how to install Netflix on the Fire TV. I can't install from the Fire TV app store, as it says I'm in the wrong region (tried with hola in by browser too, but still the same deal).
I sideloaded the standard Netflix app from the play store, but I can't make selections because it's a touch based app, unless there's a workaround for this I don't know about? Also read though, that the quality is limited in this app.
I thought maybe the GTV Netflix app may work? I can't find an apk to test this though.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
Im in Bermuda and when i first tried installing netflix i got the wrong region message as well. After i put in my DNS i was able to get it. Dont know why but it worked. Have you tried getting it from the amazon website? You can choose to "deliver" it to your device. You may get lucky.
Thanks for the reply. I've managed to register US amazon.com account, previously amazon was telling me my account was registered on amazon.com.au - so I will try changing the account details on the FireTV tonight and see how it goes.
No problem getting Netflix app on the device after I have a US Amazon account.

Has anyone else gotten a "Sharing is not supported on Amazon Fire TV" error?

Has anyone else gotten a "Sharing is not supported on Amazon Fire TV" error?
While using Popcorn Time, I'll try watching a show/movie, it'll start streaming, then back out of the show/movie and this error pops up:
"Sharing is not supported on Amazon Fire TV" The program was working perfectly before this.
Has anyone seen this error before?

I don't use popcorn time but that's pretty interesting. I've never seen that message anywhere else.
***Is there anyone that can explain this? If you can connect through a VPN I'd be interested in seeing if the error pops up.
I already explained this today on another thread. The Fire TV does no allow sharing. Example, I use Maxthon browser and if I hit the share button to share a page or share anything, that error will popup. Some browsers and apps I use will let you share things though. I think that some apps share differently than others, I think some use something in the system to share while some just do it all through the app. Another example is opening browser links, with certain apps if I try to open brwser links it will cause an error saying that the Fire TV does not support opening browser links, but other apps open browser links just fine.
So basically the Fire TV does not support sharing at all, but I guess some apps share differently than others and are obviously bypassing whatever Amazon has in place to stop us from sharing things. Popcorn Time is clearly one of the apps that the Fire TV is able to stop from sharing. Now you just have to figure out what it is trying to share. My best answer is look at the setting from inside Popcorn Time and see if there is any settings that have anything to do with sharing or a setting that has anything to do with what should happen after playback has stopped. I seems like you have it set to share something after playback has stopped.

The thing is, Popcorn Time has zero sharing options, in the program. No buttons are even being pressed that could possibly invoke the sharing error to pop up. It just started to happen out of nowhere.

I never used it but am familiar with popcorn time. I'm pretty sure its basically an app that allows you to stream torrents but I'm not certain if like utorrent your IP is out there for copyright trolls to see. I could be wrong but if not you might want to use a VPN to be safe. Just a heads up.

Its trying to share something or the error would not be popping up. Like I said, I can recrete the error with seveeral apps, caus the Fir TV has disabld sharing, but I believe not all apps share the same way, cause you canactually share with some apps without getting the error. Install Maxthon Browser and go to any website and try to share the page, the error will popup saying sharing is not supported. I am guessing that Popcorn time is trying to auto share something or the error would not be coming up. It should not be a big deal though. Its normal for apps to share things with other apps or services.

Anyone manage to get NowTV working with FireTV?

As per topic, has anyone managed to get this working on the FireTV. I've tried a few apk versions however I'm not sure if they have blocked it from working.
I have Plex, Kodi etc already running but this would keep her indoors happy if I got that working too.
Many Thanks,
I wouldn't mind knowing if anyone can get it working also as in the same boat...?
I read somewhere that it works if you plug in a mouse?
Last time I tried, the app ran but when I goto stream , it said 'not supported'.
If you have 'youmap chrome cast' installed, the nowtv app on your phone/tablet doesn't see the fireTV as a chromecast, so that doesn't work either.
Hmmm I can't do that. Sorry I should of mentioned I've got the Fire TV Stick.
All the versions I have tried don't even open, they just say something to the tune of "This device is not supported"
After the kodi Plugin was broken I did not found a solution to watch NowTV on Android. ATM I'm running OnlineTVrecorder to record. download and watch it

Hi all,
I have been reading about firmware flashing, side loading open vpn and PIA.
I had a go at that but cant get the OPEN vpn to work, nor PIA app
Tried a tutorial on installing the google play store to no avail.
So i'm hoping someone could point me in the right direction as to what to read up on and learn/ try, as i think i may be getting myself lost reading.
I have been given a firestick, v 1.
My aim is to use it behind my PIA VPN, and use NBC sports and HBO ( I have an Xfinity log in subscription)
Do i need to firmware flash the stick/ can i on version 1 of stick or do i need to buy newer model?
Do i just need to successfully manage to install OPEN Vpn to use with my PIA, and then log into the apps and all will work?
Appreciate any replies pointing me in the right direction of what to read up on, as i said think as a newbie i've got my self a bit lost reading.
Quite chuffed i managed to side load the apps, albeit if i never got them to work lol.
Cheers.

After some time on google I've found an answer of sorts to my problem.
The fire stick 1 cant be rooted as it has already installed the latest firmware.
Also it in not possible to install and use a VPN on the firestick 1.
My thoughts have now turned to will an older version of the apps HBO and NBC Sports work behind a VPN router. If so what versions would work?
Am i wasting my time, am i better buying the new firestick, installing a VPN on that and using older apps?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
