I recently installed a genealogy app (families)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.co.telgen.families
which uses sqlite and which is quite good. But I'm not crazy about the silver-gray color it uses for its background. So I wrote to the author who told me the app uses the "default android colors" but was otherwise unhelpful.
So, I thought to ask here. Is there a tool or app that could modify the default android colors an app or screen uses?
Thanks.
On a per app level, i'm not sure it's currently possible short of modifying the app itself.
Judging from the screenshots, the app needs to be updated for holo (the UI theme in android 3.0+) anyway.
On a rom level essentially you want your rom to be themeable.
Roms such as cyanogen mod have a built in theming engine.
If you're rooted and not on a rom that has a theme engine (such as stock), you can use HKThemeManager
Though most themes focus on the holo assets, theming the pre holo assets isnt really a focus for anyone since they're becoming rather rare.
Thank you very much.
I am rooted and on stock using Nova launcher. Are you saying stock has a theme tool?

Title more or less says it, is there any availible theme system similar to the cyanogen theme app that will apply a theme to the entire device? Including apps, UI, etc.
I think it would be an amazing if anyone with enough talent made a lollipop color and icon pack theme for the S6. The theme selection doesn't seem great right now but at least I would pay for a lollipop one.
nice idea.. +1 for that
on the other side this just wait a bit it's not even out in most parts of the world..
From what I read, it won't be possible. At least not for now. Samsung will release a tool to develop the new but it will only be wallpaper and icons. I don't know if I read correctly, I hope I didn't.
With themes, it would be the perfect way to hide those ugly touchwiz neon colors...
yeah..from all that I see so far ( still waiting for the phone) the neon colors are the only minus ?
Google Launcher.
All Google launcher does is replace the home screen, it doesn't change the neon ugly colors of touchwiz
also google launcher you can not hide the search bar..or? no google launcher is not the thing..at least l launcher is pretty nice but also only symbol changes
theming SDK will be released in April..

I hope the reports I read somewhere were wrong. It said the SDK at least for now wouldn't allow you to theme notification and system colors, only icons and wallpaper. Does that make sense Jeshter ?

That is the SDK you can download now. I pressume that when in April new SDK is released. S6 will be fully supported.
Tbqh I'm not sure why they didn't include a stock Lollipop theme right out of the box. Sure, they'd have TouchWiz as their default for "differentiation" purposes, but adding in a stock Lollipop theme for those that sought it out--how would that not just sell more phones?
hi ,i've been using sultan's version of cyanogenmod for 2 month now. the main reason i liked cyanogen over OOS is the theming app and i wanted to get an all black theme with accent color that would be also applied to my apps. however all the dark themes i've been using are having issued with certain apps (the most common problem i've been facing is the google messanger app in witch i'm writing in white on a white background)
yesterday on the launch of the OP3T i saw that OOS had a black with accent color "theme" and that got me interested in going back to OOS (i know that my app would be white but i prefer this to not seeing what i'm typing)
my question now is : is sultan's rom really better in performance/battery life/...? and what would you advise me to do (i like to personalize my phone but i don't twick the internal component/over or underclock anything)
Hi, I know what you mean.
I'm not sure about Sultan's CM13 version of the theme engine (the theme engine in that rom was more "basic" when I tried), but a rom like Resurection Remix has a CM theme engine that will allow you to theme "per app".
So that means that you can apply the theme system wide, then activate this floating button, go to an app and then select what theme to apply to that specific app. For examle, apply the "default" to that app only to keep it on basic colours.
I do that for Gmail for example, which I don't like with dark themes.
Give that a go, that might work.
thank you for your answer, but isn't the camera bad on Resurection Remix? i chose sultan's CM because his camera wasn't as bad as the rest of the OS (that was 2 month ago so maybe that this has changed in that time period)
Hmmm... Not too sure. I'm using a third party camera anyway (when I use it, which is not too often).
I guess best is to try out for yourself
Hello,
Im searching a Black theme for tablet. When i use phone themes i got a ugly white frame in settings like on the Screenshot. Maybe someone have or can create one?
Best regards
You could perhaps try some themes from the Mate 10/Pro etc.

You're correct I made my own dark theme, and only just checked and I notice the same issue. I will have a look for the offending white line, and see if I can find where it's coming from.

Some news Sir?
Black EMUI 9 themes on Huawei Mediapad M5 10.8
Hi Guys and Gals
I've made some tests with offered EMUI 9 themes by Themes Manager. There are a lot of dark themes which are suitable for our Mediapad. I found best solutions with Deep+Black-1.9-NL.hwt and Evanescence-v.4.NL.hwt both developed by XDA Recognized Themer maurydes.
Unfortunately there are some problems especially with Settings and Contacts. There is an ugly white background behind Settings caption. The subheadings on Contacts changing from good looking in portrait mode to bad looking form in landscape mode.
Chris
Dark theme
I have long searched for a theme with a dark background in settings, contacts and other Huawei programs for my Huawei Mediapad M5 10.8 with EMUI 9.1. With the large number of themes tested, problems typically arise when displaying texts or symbols in various fields of the respective programs. Either there is light text on a light background or dark text on a dark background, so that in extreme cases there is no legibility. The best results in my tests were Evanescence-v.4.1-Full-9.1 (although I don't like the icons - OK, you can change them).
However, there are still some rough edges.
As with many other themes, the narrow gray delimiters between the groups of contacts when changing to landscape mode mutate into wide white stripes in which the letters visually disappear. Well then you have to use the contacts program and only in portrait mode.
In the themes program, individual symbols disappear in the same color background - e.g. the trash icons for deleting themes.
So far I have not found any serious problems in the settings. If you disregard the fact that the switch in the settings is not easy to recognize and that you cannot recognize the trash can in the themes program here either.
Enjoy !

Mediapad M5 Themes
When a service was carried out by a authorized workshop (the well-known USB-C wobbler), a 'proper' Themes app was also installed on my media pad (CMR-AL09), in which, in addition to the few pre-installed ones, some new themes appeared in the store. These are all 'real' Themes for the media pad with a large screen and landscape and portrait view. Among other things, can be seen from the thumbnails in the topics. Themes for phones include no preview images for landscape mode and therefore cannot be displayed in landscape mode in the Themes app. The Magazine Unlock Method is also defined in some of these Themes, and I had no idea how it worked before.
Theme files with the ending .hwt are actually zip files with picture elements - called drawable - and xml files, in which the modifications are described. These are evaluated by the EMUI system for EMUI's own elements. The individual files such as com.example.android.notepad are also zip files that in turn contain drawables and xml files. They are evaluated by framework-res for general Android apps or its extension by Huawei framework-res-hwext for Android and EMUI apps. The file com.example.android.notepad is therefore responsible for the Huawei App Notepad.
A lack of all offered Mediapad Themes is, however, that no apps change their appearance. For example, no dark Themes for settings, contacts etc. are realized
I have modified one of the offered Mediapad Themes. I have inserted the program components for modifying various apps from other Themes that are actually intended for phones. I have among other things uses the themes Evanescence Full (LCD) .hwt, Nightlike.hwt and Skyline.hwt from the range of the Themes Manager app from the Google Play Store. I've also experimented a little with a few different lock screen solutions. E.g. a dynamic lock scene realized with the help of the ZookingSoft Theme Engine.
Sounds like you've done a good job creating a theme that best imitates dark mode for use on the mediatab. You should upload your theme for us to download and use?
Puzzles me why Huawei would remove a feature that's already built into android 9, overall I am not keen on their take on android in general - it seems a bit butchered.
Its seems that if you do not use Theme Park and use the built-in One UI options, Google Messages will use that theme. However, when using Theme Park, it seems like the One UI theme resets to the default blue color, and so Google Messages takes on that same theme, which will often clash with the theme I am actively using via Theme Park.
Does anyone know if there is a way to prevent this and set messages to at least similarly match my theme?
Side question: is Samsung messages worth using over google? If it really is then I guess I dont really have a problem as I will just switch.
I've use Samsung Messages for years. No issues. Try it and judge for yourself. It's based on open source code.
Lol, Google -is- the problem...
Try Repainter in parallel with theme park. You'll have much better control over your theme colors as well. If that doesn't work for GMessages, you could try Hex. That may be what's let me theme the app properly. Hex is more complex so hopefully Repainter does the trick
