hi guys,
recently I had to send my phone back to the repair centre 2nd time.
issues:
- very often gps does not get fixed and I need to restart the phone.
- the biggest problem is a Wlan drops. sometimes it is ok for few days but than it starts to drop the wifi and I need to switch it off and on to get it back. It does not matter where I am, I have tried at home, at workplace, at my friends… It started 2-3 weeks ago.
- I have tried to reset everything to factory setting and I even tried to install the newest firmware b111 a few times…
so this time I decided to buy a cheap android meanwhile I am waiting for my phone.
Moto g 4.4 kitkat...16000 antutu (15000 p6)
the gps is so quick. I don't have to wait even 3 sec to get the position. It sees about 20 satellites and my p6 never saw more then about 12...
the gmap position doesn't jumping while I'm traveling...
I am just wondering that are u guys satisfied with the p6 gps?
And of course it hasn't dropped the WiFi in the last 5days...
What do you think? I have a unique faulty item which has not been repaired correctly at first time in the service centre or basically the p6 is not as good as a 100 pounds moto g Motorola...
Well performance might be on par and so on. But the aesthetics and build quality wont come near our P6!

I couldn't agree more, but whenever u have problems like those, the design just doesn't help...:crying:
Agreed, it all depends on what you need. I just take photos and Whatsapp with mine, so it's really great for my use, I could have gotten an S4 but I really liked this design. - I've never used the GPS lol.
Anyhow, for what do you use your device? Maybe I can suggest some handsets.

thx, that is very kind.
you know, to be honest I was falling in love when I saw the phone in a O2 shop and on the same day I bought it without any hesitating.
(I thought I can trust the huawei brand...)
I live in London and whenever I travel I always use gmap with public transport because it shows where I am and how to get there where I want to go.
that is why I need a reliable and quick gps.
and the wifi drops and the front camera issue is just unacceptable...
almost from the beginning I had front camera issue (gallery has stopped error) but the wifi used to be good...
Probably I will buy a moto g as well if the service centre cannot fix these issues with my p6 at 2nd time (they have already tried but the problems still exist)
btw the newest soft is b132 ... why didn't u try that one which is bug free ..
I used the b132 in the last few weeks before I had enough and sent the phone back.
It does not matter which firmware I use the problems are the same...

Dont tell me you havent tried Emui2.0 +Kitkat yet
But yea with your front camera not working, your device seem to be screwed up and you should get a replacement.
I have not tried the KitKat yet because I did not want to brick it.
Yes, they should offer a replacement but will they?
What can I do if they are gonna write the same as last time? ' problems have been found and a full repair provided' but I will have the same problems?
I asked them what the full repair means: 'they changed something in the phone'

B506 is the kitkat emui 2.0, I still prefer OMNI 4.4.2.
If Pacman 4.4.2 comes out I would prefer it over OMNI.
Like bokchoi2020 said above its probably a single phone with defects, because I the phone for 5 monts now and I dont have anything to complain about it, im also in B506 kk and its great

Hi People,
as some of you may recall, just a couple of days back i decided to do some flashing with my wife's play. Installed ICS beta & DarkForest add-on.
However, from last night i am not able to find the phone
As luck may have it, the battery was dead too.
There was just a 15 min time frame when the maid was around the house (i know it's wrong to suspect but hell, i've turned the house upside down) when it went missing.
I wanto know is there any way i can trace the phone?
The sim is (or was) still in the phone at that time when the charge ran out...
And of course i have all the original documentation for the IMEI numbers and stuff..
Is there a way i can track the baby down?
Any help is appreciated!
As far as i can recall no technolgy can track a dead phone.
Unless the phone gets turned on...No and even then it's a long shot. What you need to do is install this app via google play https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lookout.labs.planb&feature=more_from_developer and if your phone is turned on+connected ot the internet when its connected to the internet + logged into the google account you download plan B with you may just be able to find the phone.... Other than that your only option is to contact the authorities.

That happened with my cousin, the maid took his 3GS for a while and she called her parents.....

I have been sorely disappointed with the compass on my Nitro. When I got the phone and it was on 2.3.5, the compass was amazing. But, as time has gone on, it has become useless.
I've looked through several forums and contacted LG directly. LG offered to take it in for warranty repair but, because of my job, I can't be without a phone for the 10 days that it would take to have it sent in.
My question is: Has anybody found a successful solution to the bad compass?
I have tried it on ICS 4.0.3 Leak, Stock ICS 4.0.4, CM9, CM10, and ParanoidAndroid.

Go back to stock gingerbread and see if your compass works there. If not, sorry bud, nothin I can do to help you except say send it for warranty repair. I got mine back in a week.

I'm in the same boat, check out this thread over at the LG Forums:
http://support.lgforum.com/lg/topics/lg_nitro_hd_compass_doesnt_work
LG knows about the issue and suggests recalibration...But as you'll read that doesn't work for some people, or at least not for long (myself included) and someone even had a warranty replacement done and STILL had the same issues with the replacement!!

Interesting.
For me, it's not that the compass doesn't work at all, it's just usually inaccurate and slow to respond. For example, if you just rotate the phone slowly while flat on a table with a compass app open, "north" should be pointing the same direction the whole time. But it doesn't, it varies quite a bit, sometimes ridiculously far off depending on the direction the phone is pointing. I assume it's something to do with poor magnetic shielding or something.
The only thing that consistently works for me is drawing figure-8's, just like I had to do with my old Motorola Milestone.
1. Open compass application
2. Hold the phone above you, parallel to the ground, with the screen
3. Keeping the phone in the same relative position, wave your arm in large figure eights like you were painting the sky. (by "same relative position," I mean the phone stays parallel to the ground, screen skyward, and you swivel your hand while making the figure eights so that the phone doesn't swivel.
4.Make about six figure eights in a row without stopping. Try to keep the same path, phone orientation, etc. The bigger the figure eight, the better.
5. Bring the phone back down so you can see the screen. The compass needle should slowly swing to North, and then hold North - until you move. Repeat if necessary.
6. Repeat as necessary. I have to do it every time I want to use the compass
Hi all, for those of you interested, here you are my thoughts and final review on the LG Optimus G.
I do really think this is a very good device with great potentials and some few flaws. The worst negative thing of this device, IMHO of course, it's the time to market, at least here in EU. This device back in November could have been one of the best. Right now it has some very strong competitors, maybe too strong to be on par. Just my two cents.

I have moved from Galaxy Nexus to Optimus G before 8 days. First rooted with motochopper, after that it was unlocked and I have installed TWRP recovery with freegee. Next I installed CM 10.1. Because of some problems with CM10 unofficial, i am now back to stock rom, but rooted, unlocked and with TWRP. First, I am enthusiastic about the phone. Great performance and greater design in my opinion. But the chrome frame around the front - on the left upper edge, the silver coating got cracks! The phone never dropped or something like this. Does anyone have the same problem, that the silver coating of the frame take turns? Actually, I wouldn't like to complain this, however, if this failure is no exception, I must probably resign myself to it.

Mhhh....it's the upper left edge the part of the device to touch you when you have the optimus g in your belt pocket and you sit down anywhere...just curious.
Anyway, I haven't read anything like this yet.
No, thats not the case. The damaged edge is free from touching something. Maybe the cause is a kind of tension on the housing. I will further observe this.

First, I have to say that the battery of my E975 is really great. Best of all android devices I have ever had. But today morning, after two hours in my pocket, there was only about 70 % battery left and the temperature was about 38 degrees. I was wondering and have installed betterbatterystats. There I was able to see two kernel wakelocks that ate all my power: sns_async_ev_wakelock and sns_periodic_wakelock. My search proved the following thread: sns_async_ev and sns_periodic wakelock?. There ist a lot of stuff to read about in the Nexus 4 section. After reading, I disabled all syncs and rebooted the device. Until now, all seems to be normal and I have little battery draining. A few days ago it seems that I have had a draining problem but I have not investigated why. I will observe it the behaviour in the next time. Rom is rooted stock 10D.

When I switched over from a black to a white Xperia Play, I ended up having to go with a used one. The bootloader was unlocked and it arrived running some version of ICS (which I immediately got rid of after finding out some of my most played games didn't work right).
The front camera has never worked for me. The back one works fine but if I even attempt to switch to the front camera, I get a prompt reading "Can't connect to camera," the app crashes, and I end up having to clear the camera's data and reboot before I can even use the back one properly again. The flex cable had been replaced, and from that it seems easy to deduce that my front camera issues might have been caused by an improper flex cable replacement.
I'm wondering though.. could it be a kernel issue caused by whatever kernel was tied to the ICS rom this arrived with? I used FlashTool to put the stock 2.3.4 generic NA rom on here (same one I've always used) and figured that would restore everything to normal.
...the front camera isn't scoring any high marks for quality, but I miss video hangouts on Google+
Its been a common problem for me the front camera broke on all three of mine :/ the two that survived one has a green front camera now and the other just doesnt work (cannot conect to camera)
I must say Im abit heavy handed and all of them have had a tough life lol
So it seems like the previous owner maybe was the same
And yes a full ftf flash will wipe kernel theres even a ftf to flash that will re-lock bootloader but personally I wouldnt its fun testing different Roms and conparing them to stock

Thanks for the response! That eases my mind a bit. This Xperia Play has a couple physical blemishes so I'll probably just buy another one sometime soon and be free of that camera issue that way.
BTW, holy crap! Time does fly... doesn't even feel like I've been half a year with no uploads. Now that I don't have finals on my plate anymore, I'm probably gonna get back to making videos.

Oh, okay. Well if for some reason you need some extras eyes in keeping an eye out for a white XP let me know via PM. I'll do what I can.
I just wanted to let you all know that even on 4.1.2 (stock and stock recovery), your note can just all of a sudden die. For no reason. I had stock malaysia ROM 4.1.2 that was released in April I believe. It was rooted, but all I used that for was Titanium Backup.
My usage of the phone was bare minimum, all I really use the phone is for Google Talk. That's actually all I was doing when all of a sudden the screen froze and the phone would not respond to any buttons or touches. Once I removed the battery it never started again. I can't get it to boot normally, or download mode or anything.
I'm in the US and i bought this off eBay back in November or something of last year, so I have no idea what to do now except get another phone.
Yes its the chipset in the phone that has a bug which can kill the phone. Alot of the note2 phones have it including mine. There is an app on market that can tell you if you got the chip in your phone but by now you already know that. Try a phone repair shop or if you want surf around the net and see if you can find a motherboard for a decent price then you could change it your self.

The newer roms have a software fix for the hardware bug. Dont remember if that fix is in the rom it self or in the kernel but if you had the latest custom rom on your phone then it might not have died.

My N7105 died also, simply would not boot, not even into download/recovery mode at all, no red led. Tried switching batteries, charging, pressing buttons for 30secs, etc; no response.
It was running 4.1.2 and on Perseus kernel alpha33, which was what everyone said it needed to avoid the SDS issue. My phone was even tested safe/sane via the eMMC test app.
Not 100% certain if it was SDS, but either way it was unresponsive/dead.

Ohh,Sorry for that & Thanks share this IMP Info,Have u ever Test eMMC Bug app? U have Sane Chip?U bought new phone?
No I didn't buy a new phone yet, don't have the money. I probably won't, I'll probably just use my old Nexus One. Yes I did use that app and it was insane chip. I just thought that with 4.1.2 it was safe, guess not.
Anybody know if it's safe for me to sell this phone on eBay? Obviously I'm going to sell it as is and write that it doesn't work, but I'm wondering if I do that, if someone can get it repaired, will they have access to my data that was on it?

No red light. I can't get into download mode at all.
a piece of my knowledge acquired by reading the whole thread. First of all it doesn't matter if you were at 4.1.2 it should be dlk7 or higher (firsts 4.1.2 didn't have it). so do you know the number? if it was higher it could be a big problem for the affected chips :S
and secondly, there are 2 ways of SDS the first is known as "soft" which allow to enter download. the second is the hard one and the one that OP may have.
hope it helped somehow

Hmm ok, just curious, my dead phone was running 'HashCheck Hybrid v2.2 ZHDMB1.t0lte' with Perseus kernel. Should it have been safe or no?

I see, so Hard SDS it was then.
Perseus kernel has the patch for sds added.
GT N7105 with XDA Premium......that is all......
sure but i readed somewhere that to be 100% safe it has to be kernel and recovery sds patched. if you had those patched both the ones that have the insane chip must be worried :S

I wonder if using cyanogenmod also end up the same? I mean this problem only caused by original firmware? if both is the same is there a reasonable solution for stock users? My wife has the phone for 2 months and I want to make sure she doesn't suffer the problem from the beginning. What are the measures I can take to avoid this problem?

it is a hardware problem. check the version of the chip with EMMC checker, 2 months old it's quite a good notice because it means newer chip probably.

Well hopefully. But while investigating the issue in internet I read 1-2 guys who have so called "sane" chips but still having freezes. I don't know if they really had the same issue or they had their phones bricked in the end but that caused me to doubt the safety of sane chips. I don't know.
