I am not sure if this has been posted in the right place, Care to move if needed
I tried rooting my S4 mini 19195. And I am having issues with it. firstly I get
1.Device detected an application attempting unpermitted acces. This has something to do with SEAndroid and I don't know how to get rid of it.
2. There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSu cannot install it' Help!?
3 If I go into About device / status and scroll down to device status, it says my phone is "Custom" and I cannot do a software update.
Would I need to do this "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2364980" to correct these issues

Well, this isn't the S4 Mini forum so you should try to post there to get better help.
Did you by any chance try using a regular Galaxy S4 root method? If so, that's probably why you're having problems.
Also, the link you gave goes to the forum where you need to be. And yes, that link you gave is the right one to root your device. Just follow instructions and you'll be good to go.
Don't worry about the Custom info in About Phone as that is what happens when you root the device.
There are well-explained threads in the S4 Mini forums to guide you through the rooting process.

to sort out nr 1
To get rid of the the warnings about applications doing not permitted actions, delete the following files from system/app
KNOXAgent.apk
KNOXStore.apk
ContainerAgent.apk
Not sure about nr 2 i had same message but my superuser managed to install binary.
I rooted my T-Mo Galaxy S4 with Oden through my PC, downloaded the root checker app, and it says I'm rooted. If for any reasons I have doubts of it truely being rootes (as in I did everything correctly), can I reroot it with no problems, cautions, and/or unexpexted possible variables? Or should I unroot then root again? I appreciate anyone taking the time to read and answer my question. Thank you.

Don't become a victim of root - paranoia, just do all that "rooted " stuff like getting rid of your bloatware and installing custom roms and don't worry about re-rooting. Life is too short.

You can root as many times as you'd like. All rooting does is copy a file into a protected part of the ROM - usually SuperSU.
However, if Root Checker is saying you are rooted, you are.
You can also open SuperSU, and look at the settings and see what it says. Or, if you open an app that requests root access, you should get a notification, where you can give root to that app, or deny it. And, if you already have given it access, you will get a popup showing when SuperSU give the root access to that app. If you haven't already done so, the important root apps to get are file explorers. I like ESFileExplorer available in the Play Store. However, since you seem to be a newbie READ, READ, READ before you start deleting, changing anything with your phone.

Only Verizon and AT&T models have locked bootloaders. If you don't have one of these you should be fine.
Why root wifi only device?
I have rooted a couple of devices. I get it's purpose of unlocking hotspot, modifying cpu clock, adblocking, etc. I have the Tab S 10.5 and I am trying to find the benefit to rooting this device. Looks simple enough. But What will I gain? I think I have already answered my question though, maybe. I am rooting my note 3 so I can use that for a hotspot for this. But it seems the only real benefit is adblocking? Am I missing something. It has been a while since I have done this so maybe I have...

The way to look at is that rooting gives YOU control over your device not the manufacturer. Think of it as like administration rights on a PC.
Would you like it if pc manufacturers told you what you could and couldn't install on your pc?
Rooting allows you to install custom recoveries so you can back up your device, fix problems, try new custom or stock software, install root only apps such as titanium backup. You can modify system files and add back functionality that the manufacturer has decided to remove or disable. Add new functionality, maybe something that is found on another device. Speed up your device by overclocking to make it run smoother.
Change how things look and install apps such as xposed which reveals a ton of hidden features allowing you to customize your device to your liking.
Once you realise what root can do you'll never want a another device that isn't.

Hi, I have downloaded the file for the T800. However, when I unzip it there are only two files :cache.img & recovery.img. Am I missing something? Please excuse my ignorance, newbie!!

Sorry, I read that bit,downloaded odin as well, however, I recall reading something somewhere about needing a .tar file? Maybe some full instructions would be nice for us new to rooting a device. Thanks for the reply

The tar file is the file you have downloaded.
Just leave it as it is and flash with Odin.
I shouldn't have to provide step by step instructions, this is what XDA search and Google is for. This info is everywhere.
Basically:
Install Samsung usb drivers.
Disable Samsung kies if installed.
Boot your device into download mode - Hold POWER + VOL DOWN + HOME.
Run ODIN , connect USB cable, look for 'added' message.
Load the tar file into the AP slot, click START.
Wait for flash to complete, device will reboot and root.
Enjoy your rooted device with custom recovery.

Cannot complete root on T-800 (Lollipop 5.0.2)
I've tried rooting twice on my T-800 running 5.0.2. In both cases ODIN says passed. However, I do not see either supersu or TWRP. When I ran root validator I got the following:
Root Unavailable
su/id/echo did not execute
I had installed the supersu app manually, but even that says the binaries are not installed.
However, Knox says it has been tripped. (using Knox Status app). So looks like I have the worst of both worlds here (well, other than bricking). Is there anything I can do different? Thanks,

Did you see the red android after rebooting?
Supersu should have already been installed before booting into twrp.

I have an apology to make. Your troubles seemed to have been due to the SuperSu script not running because it had become corrupt. I realised something was wrong when you said you had to install SuperSu with TWRP.
All fixed now.

Did you try factory resetting from within settings on the tablet?
If you did that was your first mistake.
Twrp is now stuck in a loop trying to execute a script created for the stock recovery when you tried to reset from within settings.
You cannot factory reset from settings when you have a custom recovery installed. You have to do that from recovery itself.
No worries it's easily fixable, simply head over to sammobile or samsung-updates.com and download your firmware. Then boot into download mode and flash with odin.
After that you will be back to stock.
What was the point of that!?

I figured I would edit posts and put "delete" for mods to delete the thread since it was solved and I no longer needed any help. And I'm on your block list for that? Really?
I do have a question if you even care to answer... Is there any way to root the device without TWRP? I don't want a custom recovery. Just the root. All I want is to be able to remove bloatware and able to use the "factory reset" from settings if wanted.

No its not an overreaction.
If everybody deleted their posts after getting the answer then nobody would benefit and those that help solve the problem would be wasting their time.

By the way it's the OP, and for some reason I could not log into my other account. So I had to make another.
Anyway, what I want to do is root my tablet, but with no custom recovery. I just want to be able to remove a lot of bloatware and if I ever feel the need, reset the tablet like normal from settings menu. And also able to do software updates, OTA. If I can. Really all I want to do with root is just remove useless apps I will never use. Free up some space/save battery and such. Not much else.
So I own a Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5, model SM-T800, running Lollipop version 5.0.2. I rooted my tablet using a CF-autoroot + TWRP before. But is there any root file that is just the root that will work for my model/android version I am running? Thanks for your help thus far.

With root you will lose ota. However it's no big deal as all updates are available at sammobile.

Another question, is there an easy way to unroot, then do software updates, then re-root? Or is that too much of a pain? I dunno if you can turn root off using SuperSU, or if you need to install firmware to get rid of the root.

Well if you find your firmware for your device on SamMobile, flash with FLASHFIRE keeping root.
You may find you keep root and be able to ota , but you may have to factory reset first.
It worked for another member.
Hmm. If I did a factory reset, would all the bloatware apps I removed return? Or will they be gone for good?

I'm setting up a SPH-D710 for someone else and started looking around for information to root & install a custom recovery for this phone. On this phone I have the latest kies update for Android 4.1.2, OI23. I don't see any reference to this latest OI23 anywhere and I want to know the best method for rooting this device based on the current baseband version OI23. I would like to use TRWP as the custom recovery, but I'm not certain this is the best choice for this phone.
1. What is the best rooting method for the SPH-D710 4.1.2 OI23?
2. What is the best choice for the custom recovery for this device and Android version (4.1.2 OI23)?
I rooted just fine with Cydia Impactor... As far as the custom recovery.... I'm on stock and haven't tried any others with OI23 yet...
Any clue how to get rid of the SuperSU "su binary needs to be updated" notification after rooting OI23 with Cydia Impactor?

Had to use the "Full unroot - Cleanup for permanent unroot" option from the SuperSU left behind by Cydia first to remove the "bad" su binary, then the "Aragorn" option in Framaroot 1.9.3 did the job! I now appear to have a rooted OI23 without a weird warning message!

Where did you get the Framaroot file? I followed the thread and downloaded the file which turns out to be nothing but a 0 mb file. I've tried a google search and found fake sites that just lead me to advertising sites.

Kate6, You must not have completely read my post. I did use google and have been to that site also any many others that came up. Don't believe the first thing you find. Google may be your friend but what you may find there may not be. In today's internet you have to be careful. That is a site that has you complete advertising offers that never let you download or ask for lots of personal info you should never give out. I know this is an old thread and have moved on and found other ways around this problem. Thanks anyways.
