So under T-Mobile sense stock ROM there was a tether app, i'm on jump and get 2.5 GB a month I think. I don't ever use that much but anyways since I now have a gpe ROM, did I lose the ability to tether or do I need to download another app? Which one is good?

Under Settings > More > Tethering and Portable Hotspot should be an option.
Is that there?

Hey anyone knows how to tether on Clean GB MTD ??
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Try the Wireless Tether for Rooted Devices, the apk can be found here.
http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/list
Should work on first go, you may need to try older versions of it since I don't use the latest version and don't know if its compatible. Good Luck!
If that one doesn't work use this one >http://db.tt/Q6n9nOge after you start the app but before you start the tethering you will need to go into settings and change the first setting to epic 4g and the second setting to softap... I use this on every rom that I run and it has never failed me!

I am pretty sure that CleanGB has the hacked Sprint Hotspot app (renamed to Wireless Hotspot). I know the BML version does. Just use that. To me, it seems more stable than WiFi-Tether.

You can use the hacked hotspot or use the wireless tether for root users. I use the Beta 8, beta 9 and up gives problems.

T-mobile hotspot app is telling me to change my plan to get hotspot. I was under the assumption the Pref android plan was 5 gb data limit and free wi-fi hotspot. What do you guys think? Thanks in advance
No free wifi hotspot. I thought I had it too but apparently the hotspot plan you see for the Android preferred is for a really old phone..

Ah thanks for the response. I think your right because my rooted Sensation 4G was able to do wi-fi hotspot with a CM10 rom. Maybe if i root the Note 2 then i'll be able to wi-fi hotspot
Check out the forum...there are tutorials to change the apn to enable hotspot [requires root]

yeah you can hotspot with root, but its not that easy, you have to go through a "toggle" from a custom rom.
you can't just "flip" the native hotspot switch.
I would root and do all that stuff, but too much hassle for me.
lol
Can anyone confirm a working hotspot app for the Verizon HTC One that allows free hotspot using phone data? For the rooted folks, can anyone confirm if loading a ROM allows for free native hotspot? I'm considering to upgrade to the HTC One from a Galaxy Nexus but I want to make sure I'm covered for hotspot because it's an important feature for me. My wifi tablet is useless on the road without it.

FoxFi works for me.
Yes, +1 for FoxFi, works great. Although it doesn't re-enable WiFi. But that's a minor nuisance.
I rooted my HTC One and have Wireless Tether and it is working. If you are referring to the native Verizon Tethering App, I did see a post in another forum that discussed there is a way to get the Verizon app to tether without a tethering plan if you have a rooted phone, but there was no link or directions on how to do it.
FoxFi working perfectly here too

I'm gonna point out I had an issue with FoxFi today. I had to uninstall and reboot and reinstall. Seems that VPN connection it uses seems to inadvertantly stop working. I'm assuming that's what it uses to trick the mobile hotspot to turn on.

What I meant by native hotspot is enabling the feature within Android settings, no app needed. Normally I think the carrier can detect and charge using this method on the stock ROM. However I remember people telling me that they can use it undetected after installing a custom ROM.
So I went to the (how to guide) here and it describes how to get it with the wifi tether app and being rooted... well ive done that mate.... and I check my t-mobile account and it still uses my 2.5 gigs of free wifi tethering.... is there another way?
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app
If you already have a plan with free tethering what exactly do you expect from this? If you use data, it's going to show up on your account as being used whether you are tethering or not.
I don't expect anything I just thought the WiFi tethering would show up on on my data plan which is unlimited. My tether plan is only 2.5 gigs plan. It does the same as the stock hotspot tethering. Which in turn renders that app "WiFi tethering" useless. Its no big deal just asking the guide said he could use unlimited WiFi tether and T-Mobile didn't charge him for unlimited use... that wasnt the case for me....

It works for all data going in and out of your phone. And it all depends on which vpn you choose. A lot of free ones slow down data speeds to keep it free. Paid ones do not.

If your with Tmobile... use the my tmobole account app
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app
STEP 1
"STOCK ROM"
-download "1 click tether" from the market...this will force the internal tethering to turn on
OR
Run an AOSP rom, internal tethering is unlocked in aosp roms
STEP 2
once youve figured out step one, you should be able to tether, whether on aosp or tw ,it dont matter....only problem is, tmobile will soon block you because of your user agent on the computer
so you have two options...
1. download a browser on your computer that supports changing your user agent...chrome, firefox...ect...change the user agent to something other than windows...you can now use unlimited tethering on your browser.
NOW.....This will only give internet to the browser, not the computer globally...The only way to get global tethering on every program on the pc you'd have to set up a VPN...via the phone or via pc...VPN's are usually not free thou
My setup
-Running CM10 ROM
-Using the internal tethering option in the rom
-I use google chrome
-In google chrom i use this extension called "user agent switcher" https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/user-agent-switcher/lkmofgnohbedopheiphabfhfjgkhfcgf
-everytime i open google chrome i change the user agent to "safari on mac"
DONE
Yes try vpn hideman.

IS there any way to get unlimited tethering hotspot on jellybean 4.3 on tmobile? Cause my limit is 5 gb and I was wondering if there was any way to bypass the data limit. IE free tether free hotspot ect. I have an unlimited data plan though. Thanks in advance
No. 5GiB 4g then it throttles. Don't ask ways on how to bypass something legal.

Search is your friend. Happy hunting.:good:
I dont have any tethering but I use a rom based of of international roms or ge roms. Then use an agent user switcher on your browser for your pc chrome works good. Tmobile bases roms is what has something embeded in the tether feature that blocks it.
