I'm running a slightly modified touchwiz ROM with latest bindroid kernel on my galaxy tab 3 8.0 and was wondering whether it was possible to change the CPU profile for the built I'm battery saver mode.
To be clear, without battery saver max CPU frequency is 1.8ghz, with battery saver enabled its 1.3ghz but I'd like to change that to ~1ghz for low power usage. Is that possible?
Trickster mod would help

I have trickstermod and it somewhat works, the settings don't always stick though. Also I see no way to modify androids built in battery saver mode with trickster, which is what I'm looking for.

Just put Pac-man ROM on mine and looks like that can be changed in settings. Don't know if you want to consider that option.

What do you guys overclock your processor to on this phone? Back on my Galaxy S 4G I used SetCPU, so if that works on this phone too, what do you guys set it to, and why?
Cheers!
I think System Tuner is more popular now than SetCPU. I keep mine at 1.02Ghz to save battery life. If I really need major processing power I turn it up to 1.72Ghz using the Trinity Kernel.
With the new Trinity Kernel for the GS3 rooted running ICS UVALH2 I see Quadrant scores of 5800 and AnTuTu scores of 7800 - 8000.
Don't forget you need a custom kernel to overclock.
I set mine to 11.

You set what to "11"? What does that even mean? Pretty vague statement.
stock
I used setcpu to change clock speed & system tuner to control voltage, running at 810mhz with interactive+Cfq on SGS3 Rom+Faux kernel, with these settings my phone last over 10hrs with about 20-30% battery to spare & that's with heavy data usage

Hi,
I want to try my phone without Franco kernel for a while (because I suspect that it causes some problems).
But I noticed that even without a kernel installed it has impact on the stock kernel. For instance if Fast charge is enabled in franco app it seems that it is really enabled. At least I can see an icon in notifications.
What Franco app settings can be used with Android stock kernel (4.2.2. in my case).
Thanks.
Battery life extemder i guess and most peobably underclocking too

The stock kernel doesn't have ability to do fast charge, so it doesn't matter if the app shows it. You can use things like color control, logger toggle off. I think you can also change scheduler and min max frequency. Options are pretty limited with the stock kernel.
Thanks!!!

What exactly eco mode is? Intelli-plug or MPdecision?
Ecomode configures ur processor to run as quad core or dual core...

On stock firmware there's ECO mode, ok.
But what about Cyanogenmod? Is this feature supported?
In case it's not implemented by default is there a way to add it via an additional application or a custom kernel?
Thanks.

kernel which has faux Intelli Plug implemented will allow us to use that feature using Trickster mod app of faux clock app...

Uh... thanks for clarify.
So, does cyanogenmod 10.2 with default kernel implement this Intelli Plug feature?
If I am correct, not having this thing correctly handled makes phone use Always the 4 core cpu, instead of the low power one when no load... right?

it wont make all ur cores to run all time....based on load condition it ll auto manages the core....and CM default kernel wont have that feature and it shud be available in custom kernels lyk f92,kite,solid..
I'm on Liquid Smooth with Deathly Kernel and for the life of me I cannot figure out how to enable Fast Charge no matter where i search. So I give up How do I?

You have a couple of options. There is a built-in kernel tweaker, go to Settings/Performance/Tweaks. Alternatively, you can use an app like Andromizer Pro or Trickster Mod; these apps will display all available performance/tweak settings that are available for the detected kernel.

I tried 3 roms. same result. now using viperoneM9 rom. and using always power saving mode. but still the overheating same. is that the kernel issue or anything else? pls help me to fix that.. best wishes for all

Using powersaver mode on a phone with big.LITTLE octacore processor is counterproductive. Powersaver mode disables the 4 big cores and so the LITTLE cores have to do all the work for your daily use. Since they're not as powerful as their big counterparts they always have to run at maximum power. That's why your phone gets hot and your battery is probably dying faster as if you wouldn't use powersaver mode.
So disable powersaver mode and you'll have no problems anymore.

I tried it before. same getting hot. is there any possibility of getting rid of it if I change the stock kernel?

nope, I didn't try it. gonna try it now
try to use interactive mode form the CPU tweaks menu on the Viper One....or try ti use ElementalX Kernel on stock rom, that shoul work...
you can also with some arrangements, use the Viperone Rom with ElementaX Kernell and the EX Manager app.
