I'm running cm11 nightlies and when I try to install the new Google camera app it keeps telling me that it's not signed correctly and to uninstall a previous version. I did that and it still won't install. Any way around this?

Have you tried to copy/paste to system/app and set permissions to rw-r-r then reboot?

I have not. Could you direct me to where the play store apks are stored after a download? Thanks

As long as you have a root accessible file manager...I use Root Explorer. Just click on the Root tab and downloaded apks from the play store are in data/app. Copy/paste there and set permissions to rw-r-r. Reboot. If it doesn't work then try making it a system app by copy/paste to Root/system/app set permissions to rw-r-r reboot. Hopefully that helps you.

I looked there and there was the Googlecamera2apk, but still no difference when I paste it to the data/app folder.
Also, tried uninstalling the app with a root Uninstaller and restarting. Now all it says when I try to install the app is that the app already exists.
I'm just going to download the apk from a website. Thanks for the help though!

I have tried seems to be everything to install HTC Hub. I have tried several apks and even tried apks from custom ROMs with no success. Can someone tell me if it is possible to install HTC Hub on stock 2.3 rooted ROM or is there a flashable zip that I can use?
Is HTC Hub Sense 2.1/3.0 specific?
Yes. It is for 2.1+
You can just download the zip with all the ringtones, notifications etc from here:

Thank you but this is an old version and wont install.
You should send either KING or Virus or one of the other devs a message with what you'd like. They are pretty swamped but they somehow seem to try to get back to everyone.
Instead of installing it normally, you need to place it in system/app and set permissions to rw-r--r--

Don't install it, use root explorer or similar, move it to /system, change permissions and then move to apps.

OK thanks, what do permissions need to be set to? Will I be able to remove the stock Sony Contacts app as well? Roland

Using root explorer, it's x x, x, x from top down. Use your file manager to check permissions on another app and use the same.

Use jj's rom its all almost aosp looking and feel it has aosp contacts

And then?
What do I do after setting permissions & moving to /system/app? I can't find any way to open it, and it still won't install ("Parsing Error")
Thanks!
You reboot your phone and it should replace the stock app.
I followed the instructions.
1. Copy Contact.apk inside system/app
2. Changed permission to rw-r-r which is same for other apps
3. Rebooted, I see get my xperia stock contacts.
I am sure I missed something, when I try to install from system/app it does not install.

Great, but some how I can't find the default contact.apk to replace
Perhaps my mistake, using Xperia Pureness rom, possibly its moved somewhere else.
Look in the themes and apps section, I've uploaded the apps folder for situations like this.
Sent from my Phone.
Okay I found out that this rom is using PhoneBook.apk for contacts.
I tried removing PhoneBook.apk and keeping just Contacts.apk reboot
Renamed Contacts to PhoneBook reboot
But in vain.
Permissions are same.
Now restored PhoneBook.apk until I find a solution to get Contacts.apk to run.
I am posting here because I wan't able to post on the ROM page. I am a long time reader but have, for the first time, found a question I need answered that I haven't been able to find by simply reading. I am running a JB Rom (4.1) and this particular rom came with Google Chrome as the default browser. I want to keep the Rom but install the default Android browser. I have downloaded the apk and moved it into my system apps but I can figure out how to get it to install. Any help on this issue would be much appreciated. Thanks.
You need to make sure the permissions are the same as the other system apps and then reboot.

How do I do that ? I have tried fixing permissions in Recovery, but other than that I'm not sure how to do it.

Root explorer or es file manager find the /system/app should be browser.apk then hold on it and select properties and change the permissions. Should be the first row completely checked then the next row should only have the first two checked.

What are the permissions to be set at? I pushed this and the stock file manager to system apps, fixed permissions via recovery, but neither work. When I use Root Explorer to check the apks they show different permissions from all the other system apps. MusicPlayer and SecNoteMyFiles show rwxrwxr-x while the other apks show rw-r-r-- I guess I need to manually change them?
EDIT - Actually what happens is they don't show in the app drawer, so I tried to install them from the system app folder, but I keep getting an error "Application not installed".

No go for me. They just don't want to work. I don't know why. I was on the stock ROM via ODIN. Everything worked. I pulled five apks from the system app folder. Three of them work, but the MusicPlayer and FileManager don't. I tried them both ways. I left the permissions as is, rebooted, and nothing. I did what you said, and still nothing. Got me. I'm running Jedi Mind Trick JB 3.

First I want to thank you, and say sorry for making you help me so much, as I'm now realizing it would have worked if I just used your version from the beginning. I've been trying to get the one I pulled from my stock ROM when I was running it. It seems my APK is not the right one. Yours worked the very first time. It's also bigger than mine by about a MB. Where did you pull it from? I pulled mine directly from the system/app folder.
Also since mine didn't work for this, or my File Manager APK, would it be possible for you to share that too? Or tell me where to get it? Thanks again.

Hi,
I would like to put the McAfee app back on my G3. The find my phone feature looked reasonable when I was running the stock ROM.
Can anyone post it? I assume its not just the normal McAfee app from the playstore.
Thanks

FYI, there is a thread with system dumps etc if you search.

Did you reboot after copy and changing permissions, then just run the app from normal app icon, no need to install.

Hi there. I have a D855 installed FulmicsRom-5.0. I wanted to install McAfee to my phone. The provided apk works but it's not have some futures i needed. Newer versions, like v30c stock include, have private photo taking of intruders etc. I tried to install the one from my v30c twrp backup (extracted to PC); but it don't work. Always displays "Sorry, McAfee has stopped" or something like that. Is there a way to install my McAfee version (namely version 4.5.0.7066)? Any help is appreciated. Here is the relevant files from /system/priv-apps folder: ( Oopsss... i can not post my dropbox link to the zip)
What permissions you put? I have fulmics 5.2 and error when open app
