ok try this go for a dirty flash , flash the rom but dont reboot the phone instead get back to recovery and fix permission, wipe cache and dalvik cache twice before re booting.
this should get you on I would recommend to try with philz recovery .
if not then it really need some pills to get adapted to 4.3 rom

same problem
I ve got the same problem. Installing PhilZ recovery didn't help at all. I can install any 4.3 ROM but can't get the to reboot. After the installation and the initial boot everything runs fine until I reboot or shut the phone down an boot again.
I tried CWM, Team Win and PhilZ.
I can always go back to 4.2.2 without hassle...
No idea, what is causing this.

Fixed it.
Using CWM now instead of Team Win and everything works. Needed to test some versions though.
Im facing the same problem. The rom gets flashed and Im able to play around with it.The issue arises when i reboot -it ends in a bootloop.Tried a lot of 4.3 roms and all with the same result.I changed recovery and wiped twice, did a super clean install but the same problem.I can run cm (4.2.2) without any issues ..
What should i do ? and why is this happening ? Coz the issue arises only when i reboot ...
i find out my own fix for it i have used odin then after everything being done i haved go to recovery and wipe factory reset and dalvik cache reboot and works for me always.
Its funny how every one is experiencing diffrent problems. Technologo

Update:
Flashed prerooted stock through odin and it works now.Donno what caused the bootloop though ...
My T-Mobile Galaxy s4 M919 will not boot after any custom ROM flashes. I tried 4 different ROMs with success messages. As soon as I reboot my phone after the ROM flash, it's stuck at the Samsung Galaxy S4 logo and would not enter the "phone desktop". I can easily enter download mode and recovery mode without any issue.
Background: I rooted with Odin successfully. (Used both CWM and OUDHS with the same no-boot results after flashing any custom ROMs). I can restore back to stock and phone boot up fine but tried root again and then with custom ROM and it would not boot. Any help would appreciate it.
After flashing a rom, go into recovery, and erase stuff. Like cache and dalvik cache. Possibly even data

I did that after each ROM flash. 1. Wipe data/factory reset, 2. wipe cache part, 3. wipe dalvik cache. Did not fix the problem. No good. Please clarify "possibly even data". I am not sure which wipe is that.

using CWM:
*wipe data/factory reset
*wipe cache
*wipe, dalvik cache
*wipe system
*wipe sdcard (only if you have the ROMs you plan on flashing on your external sdcard, this will erase internal sd)
now flash your ROM of choice. reboot (will take 1-2min on first boot)
use cwm touch. what ROMs have you tried so far?
I am thinking you are flashing something not specific to the TMo S4, so your not getting the right kernel installed. Try installing a TMo specific kernel immediately after flashing a rom and see what happens.
Yeah, what ROMs have you tried already? Have you tried TWRP 2.5 recovery?
Sometimes it'll take up to 10 minutes to boot up (I haven't experienced this yet with the GS4, but I have with other phones). How long did you wait before determining it was just stuck?
I switched to PhilZ Touch Recovery a couple of weeks ago and have not had Any issues as I did before.
TWRP 2.5.0.2 was issue free for months, until I started flashing ROMs with Aroma.
Nothing but issues re Samsung splash screen freezes, different solutions working sometimes and sometimes not, having to ODIN back to stock on many occasions, having to wipe INTERNAL SD on many occasions, etc., etc.
PhilZ was the solution.
This is coming from a hard core TWRP guy......
Check the link in Red in my sig for PhilZ and other good stuff

Okay let's start over from scratch.
First off can you restore the stock ROM using your nandroid backup?
Second, I don't think you are properly wiping everything prior to flashing the new ROM. You need to wipe system, data, dalvik, and cache in the CWM wipe menu prior to flashing the new ROM.
Wipe all 4 things. Wiping any less than all 4 things will cause the problems you are experiencing.
Once you've done that, then flash the ROM.zip and reboot and it should work just fine.

When I was flashing ROMs w/Aroma using TWRP 2.5.0.2, I would sometimes get Samsung boot screen freezes. The only way I could resolve this was by wiping Internal SD, in addition to the other wipes mentioned, and flashing the ROM again.
find stock kernel, flash the roms you want and flash the stock kernel after and see if you boot

ODIN Samsung Stock Firmware.
Boot.
ODIN Custom Recovery.
(I use PhilZ Touch Recovery. Flashes ROMs flawlessly )
Boot.
Flash custom ROM afterwards.
If ROM doesn't have Root, then Root with CF-AUTO-ROOT by Chainfire via ODIN prior to installing Custom Recovery.
Then flash custom ROM.

I have no idea why it ain't working for you.
On the plus side, I don't know everything
If you ODINd Stock.
ODINd Recovery.
Did a Md5 Checksum match between the ROM file and your Download.
Wiped Internal SD.
Flashed the ROM......
and you're still having issues.......
I'm at a loss....
Try again is my only suggestion, and insure the steps taken are correct, including ODINing the proper files for your device.
Check & Double check
Including making sure you have a good usb cable, which sometimes can work and sometimes not....
If you haven't, try flashing from internal sd card. Maybe remove th external sd card just in case.
Hi, I'm on the 4.4.2 version of the Sickness, with the MDL bootloader. I've updated the modem to NH7.
Do I need to go through the whole process of updating the firmware, re-rooting, etc., or can I just do a full wipe and update to the Sickness' 4.4.4 V3?
I tried a full wipe and installing it today, but I ran into bootloops/other failures.
its better to use the latest recovery like twrp becuz in twrp 2.8.0.1 which is the latest recovery you can choose wipe and then advance wipe and choose dalvik cache, system, data and cache then wipe and that normally takes care of the boot loops

CWM and Philz also allow you to wipe system, data, cache, and even the non-existent Dalvik cache partition.... Your post makes it sound like TWRP is the only recovery that does that Just saying..

As to your question; you should be able to do a full wipe (system/data/cache and even though it literally does nothing because the partition doesn't exist, dalvik) and then flash with no problems. I would say that since you're still one of us few lucky ones still with MDL bootloaders, try to keep an official update as a very last option!
Were you trying to flash a kernel or any other mods along with the ROM? If so, flash only the ROM itself and see how it works.
You say bootloops/other failures... that means you bootloop a lot, and when you don't bootloop something else happens. Could you be more specific on the "other failures?" Any error messages? Were you able to pull a logcat? Did you compare the MD5's? Doesn't sound like a bad download, but you never know...
i understand what you saying however i ran into the same problem using philz touch and got the latest twrp and havent got stuck in boot loops since i read a forum on this and using older recovery to flash kitkat roms has been having people phones stuck in a boot loop and throwing errors after flashing and they updated the recovery to fix it
Sh*t, I have TWRP 2.6 and never have a problem. IMO (and some others) newer versions don't seem to play well with others. That goes for all Recoveries.
As for your issue, you might have a bad DO. Try re downloading the ROM, full wipe and then flash.
well my phone didn't like philz touch it works better with the latest twrp recovery

No, you flash TWRP 2631, then boot into the twrp then select advance then put a check for cache, davik cache and data, then swipe. Once done just flash your rom. I would copy the rom to the download folder on the internal storage (/sdcard/download/) before flash your new twrp.
Is 2.6.3.3 more reliable / stable in terms of making / restoring nandroids? I just got my new Note last week (p607t) and flashed xKat with TWRP at one point, restoring apps from (some with data to avoid re-entering account info or redoing complex settings...) I have had one problem however, when I was almost done restoring, I noticed that I was getting fc's, particularly with games that required an internet connection. I wiped dalvik and cache in TWRP, then hit fix permissions, which I think screwed everything up (maybe due to the bootloader / firmware base mismatch). Anyway, my most recent nandroid was with the fresh xKat install, but fixing permissions caused this weird "hot"-bootloop where it skipped the boot animation but start loading immediately after rebooting, but then freezing before all boot tasks had completed (ex. some optimizations on boot with Android Tuner Pro, FolderMount mounting folders, loading xposed modules...)
Not wanting to re-restore, I first just tried dirty-flashing the ROM again (only wiped dalvik and cache, but did something I hadn't tried before: in the wipe menu I hit "repair partition" for system and data, pre-flash). Luckily it worked and set everything straight... but just want to make sure, 2.6.3.3 is still recommended as the most stable version (in my experience, fixing permissions in recovery can be very hit or miss on any version)?
2 questions before I roll back my recovery, I think these "killer features" (totally serious, #2 has been huge since I got a couple of the newish flash drives with micro usb on one side and regular usb on the other) of TWRP were implemented in 2.6.3.3, but just want to make sure: can you 1) compress nandroids and 2) mount a USB OTG drive and flash from or backup to it? Thanks all, really loving my new Note (massive upgrade from my Note 8!)

I HAVE flashed 2631 for the qualcomm lte.
I've done or several times since you told me that's the best version.
IT WILL NOT BOOT INTO TWRP. it's a scrambled screen. That's all. No touch options. No check boxes. After a minute, tablet reboots itself. I am on stock firmware still. Rooted.
Maybe I should just try CWM. never had this much problems with twrp on any other device.

How about wipe cache/davikcache/data with your stock recovery (just reflash your stock recovery). After that let it boot up, then power down and flash twrp. Once done, don't boot up, boot back to twrp . Let me know how it goes.
Cool. I can try that when I get home. Do you have a link handy for the stock recovery?

THANK YOU SO MUCH! TWRP booted right up, and nandroid in progress. now I'll be able to try some custom ROM's and play in system.
After flashing TWRP with Odin, I boot into recovery and wipe the dalvik cache. I then go to install the CM13 zip file, and it works. I wipe Dalvik again and reboot in the os. This is where it just shows the CM boot screen infinitely. Nothing else. What is up. I am using the latest TWRP and CM13 release.
Try this:
1. Wipe cache, dalvic cache, data, system
2. Install CM13 again, along with your gapps(google apps if you didn't know, custom ROMs never come with them, optional)
3. Boot it, it should work
You cannot switch ROMs without wiping data. Bad things happen.
You must clean flash when:
1. Switching between a stock ROM to a custom ROM
2. Downgrading Android versions (5.1 to 5.0)
3. Switching custom ROMs (I.E. CM13 to AICP)
4. When the ROM's thread warns to (switching keys)
5. Switching between nightly builds and stable.
When you're updating nightlies, you shouldn't have to though.

Just did it, it still seems to be booting like it previously was. Wiped cache, dalvic, data, and system and then installed CM13 and gapps. Still booting as I write this.
Since that failed, check your download, make sure nothings bad. If its bad, redownload, if not, idk.
If you post your recovery logs, or what the console says, that will help me figure out what's going on.
Also, is your phone the triband model (l710t)?
Are you flashing anything else at the same time?
The more info you give, the better.

I've kind of given up at this point. Even CM12 doesn't work. The only thing that seems to work is the stock rom. My phone is the regular SPH-L710 model. I didn't even know the L710t was a thing.
I have the same problem, and sometimes it boot in the system setup mode, but the sensor is not working, i can turn on airplane mode, reboot or power off, and sensor works, what happend i dont know((
