Hi,
Is there a mod like SwipeSelection for iOS? I've this tweak on my iPad. If I swipe for example from left to right over the keyboard the cursor is also moving from left to right. It's quite nice for correcting a mistake while texting.
Here is a video were you can see what I mean: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6h2yrBK7MAY
I've already searched for such a mod but haven't found anything.

Does anyone think that a developer will create an application which will allow you to use the zoom-bar for a different functionality, (bit like GScroll) such as a application manager or a scroll control. if so what other functions could it be used for?

I don't have the device yet, but I think it would be great if someone can figure out how to make the zoom bar act as a d-pad like with Gscroll. That is, swipe up for up, swipe left for left, swipe down for down, swipe right for right. You wouldn't be able to use it in apps like games. But I can imagine it would be useful for the following:
-moving cursor around when typing
-scroll though the suggested contacts when you start typing in the "To" field in Messaging
-scroll through the suggested words when you have xt9 enabled
But I guess this is only applicable when the hardware keyboard is hidden since there are arrow keys on the keyboard. Besides, it's probably difficult/impossible for the zoom bar to recognize vertical swipes.
I thought I was on to something when I first started writing this post, but now I feel my idea may not be worth the trouble at all!

Would be nice if the bar was 'split' in two:
the left half is for left/right and the right half is for up/down.
So, each half should be devided into two halves too.
But, for this to work, the actual position of the finger should be known, not only the swipe...
A program like the GScroll AppSwitch would be good to control with the zoom bar, or even a simple way to scroll up and down through menus or things like contacts.
Had my Touch Pro2 for about a week now, and I'm loving it (coming from a TyTN II) I've found a ROM I like, set it up the way I want it, and I'm very happy apart from a couple of little niggles. It's so fast and smooth compared to my old phone!! And the screen is gorgeous
Anyway, I've been a member of these fantastic forums for a long time now, and I don't ask many questions, since usually I can find the answers I am looking for (I like figuring things out for myself!) but I have searched and searched for an answer to these questions to no avail.
So, here goes:
1. Is there any way to disable the transparency of the task bar and soft key bar on the start menu? It annoys me having the background show through. I'm a bit of a perfectionist and don't like the fact that it's the ONLY place where it happens, I'd like a consistent experience Why on earth did Microsoft decide to do this? If it's going to be transparent then apply it everywhere! It looks a little weird since the ROM I am using (which is awesome, btw ) has custom task bar icons, and little squares show up around them when the task bar goes transparent. I guess I'm just being picky but if anyone knows a reg tweak or some other way of doing this that would be great!
2. Has anybody found any way to change tracks in WMP without taking the device out of your pocket? On my old phone, when using WMP's Toggle Screen feature, I could feel for and use the DPad in my pocket to change tracks and volume without the device waking up. On the TP2 I can change the volume using the volume keys but changing tracks causes it to wake up and go crazy in my pocket! (I've used advanced keyboard config to assign the windows key and back key to DPad left and right, since I find having both hardware and software buttons in WM6.5.X a little pointless). If I lock the phone, then the volume keys still work, which is very useful, but obviously non of the other keys do so no track changing.
I know there is a program that allows you to use the voice command button on the HTC headphones to change tracks on the HTC music tab, but I have to use custom headphones because my ears are a funny shape and normal headphones don't stay in xD Also I don't like the music tab, it seems slow and doesn't show all the album art properly. I actually like WMP, it's always worked fine for me, don't know why everyone hates it so much BTW I've disabled the standard 6.5 lockscreen and am just using the soft key unlock like in 6.1
Sorry for the epic long post and thanks in advance!
Does anyone know how to get the thing the Droid X uses to get pick the spot you specifically want to be at when you text/type?
what????
you need to explain a little further. i am not a droid x guy, obviously but there is nothing any phone can do to predictt where you really meant to type aside from just the text prediction within the keyboard app itself.
whats wrong cant you type?
I keep telling my phone that I specifically want to be on a beach in Hawaii when I Type, but sure as hell, when I look up from my phone, I am still in Chicago.....
Not sure I fully know what you mean. If I need to add text to a message, I just tap the screen where I want to add the text. If I am a little off, I just use the arrow keys to get the cursor where I want it. If you are using Swype, Slide your finger from the swype key to the symbol key to bring up the arrows.
Are you talking about how to specifically go to a place between the text in a message? Sort of like the iPhone does when you long press on where you're typing and this magnification circle comes up? Haha this is pretty hard to explain.

Sorry about the delay guys... But that ^^^ is what I'm looking for! Dolphin HD does it... HTC browser does it, but the place I want it the most (text messages) doesn't! Anyone know any options? All I know is the droid x has this red thing that makes arrow keys and trackballs pointless, and I want that feature on my EVO!
Just tap the spot on the screen where you want to cursor to go. Or, swype from the top left key with the swype symbol, down past shift all way to the SYM key. The menu with the arrows will appear.
Doesn't htc input have the arrow keys, that's why its there

I do have to agree on this. Cursor arrows on keyboards are a joke most of the time. The one that swype has is nice, but if i had the magnifying glass like on Dolphin Browser I would never need the cursors. The cursors on the original HTC keyboard are a joke.
+1 I would love to see this on the EVO.
Hello people!! Is it possible to add tap features to move the cursor left or right when we need to edit input text? Like tap the phone on the left side, to move the cursor left and vice versa....the LG Optimus 2X has it...is there a way to port it????? THANKS!!!
Bumb
im bumbping this thred because im also looking for that feature
HELLO EVERYONE,
I've been an iphone user since smartphones came out and I just recently purchased a S3 and I'm really enjoying it. I love the added buttons at the bottom that aid a lot in navigating. I love the open platform and the ease of customization. The only real negative is the painful process in order to edit text. God forbid you make a couple mistakes way back in the sentence. My big fingers are having a hard time selecting text and correcting mistakes. The best mod I used on a jailbroken iphone is a mod called swipeselection. Its composed of a hidden touchpad that takes up no real estate on your screen. You type your message normally and if you have to move the cursor all you have to do it swipe left and right on the keyboard. Also highlighting text is a breeze, you just have to hold down the shift key on the keyboard and swipe left or right to highlight the text. Its so simple and saves so much time. I would be willing to pay $$$ if someone could port this over to android. What do you guys think? Check out the youtube link swipeselection https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSzg0r05Eg8
