Where did this come from?

Something not right. File size only 100MB?

Where did this come from?
I noticed when I followed the link it is a series of 100MB files. And 1 16 megabyte file. Something is not right about this one...also no explanation as to any details.

There is an Odin package for this on www.samsung-file.com but I don't know anything about that site and how reliable it is. It would be great if it was legit.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk

I've downloaded the files, and extracted them with 7zip. It's the same files on the website I referred to, www.samsung-file.com. I've extracted the system image and looked at the build.prop. From what I can tell it looks legit and has a build date of October 31, 2013. Unfortunately, the bootloader is where the danger lies. I don't know enough about what I'm doing to judge anything by it and am a little too chickens**t to try it out.

It's each individual file, not packaged in one tar? Hmm. Bootloader should be unimportant. Anyone needing to return to stock and needing to use this would most likely already have the mjb bootloader. No need to flash it again.

Its packaged in a tar. I just extracted it to poke around. It's actually 4 tars and a pit file. An ap, a bl, a csc, and a cp.

As long as the files are in a folder or in an area on your computer all together, extracting them should make just one file. You typically do not see this with ROMs, it's mainly a media thing if you want to compress something really small but you keep the quality.

Dear Members...
the file i given here is original, that i used to one i747 which hangs at samsung logo.
Originally the file came with .md5 extention, i renamed to .tar format. Becauses in my computer md5 checksum takes more time before flashing in ODIN.
I will do this for all files, which is big in size.
And the important about this file is, it was taken from my support site. So users no need to worry....:good:

ok the phone is booting normally or the phone hangs at samsung logo?
and how do you flash ap, bl, cp files? a odin screenshot with files placed correctly would be helpful.

Use ODIN 3.09...

So to verify, one could use this without bootloaders and it would not trip warranty bit?

Seeing the Odin 3.09 shot makes sense now. Thanks.

I used this tonight and it worked without a hitch...
I always liked using Odin to go back to stock every so often since I flash a lot. I don't know if or how this differs from the routine enewman put together to return to stock.

Do you know if this method trips the warranty bit? I'm trying to determine if in the future I wanted to go back to stock and grab the KitKat OTA, that this would be a viable method. I'm concerned the OTA might not work if the warranty bit is tripped.

Unzip and put file into PDA in ODIN and flash away! If you need ODIN, it is attached below.
*WARNING* DO NOT CHECK RE-PARTITION OR ANYTHING ELSE. ONLY AUTO-REBOOT AND F. RESET TIMER SHOULD BE CHECKED.
If you need more information about this file and what it is/what to do with it, read the stickies at the top of this forum to learn more about ODIN and what it is used for. This file is provided mostly for people who like me who prefer to odin a stock rom and tweak it themselves. It will also prove INVALUABLE from here on out for when you need to unroot your phone (send into t-mobile/samsung, just want it un-rooted).
IF YOU WANT ROOT:
I also attached the latest superuser and CWM recovery for those who want to root.
Put the recovery.tar in the pda slot and flash for CWM recovery.
Then install the attached superuser inside CWM recovery to have full root!
FYI: It's a known issue that superuser usually does not "stick" on the first try. This is with ANY ROM for our phones. Just keep flashing it (usually 2 to 3 times)until it says installation complete.
THIS WILL NOT AFFECT YOUR DOWNLOAD/FLASH COUNTER (+)

Nope i believe Mr. X is making that as we speak. This is for a full ODIN flash.
rooted?
Can't wait for your link, can I use CWM to flash? Is the firmware already rooted or
factory fresh one?
Wow you guys...just wow...
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Will be factory fresh. Will be like any other stock rom, not rooted. Root it via odin like we have always done for all of our roms. I think it's best to just leave completely intact so we always have an option to get our phones back to 100% factory. The CW flashable zips and rooted custom roms are on their way.

UCAMA4 sammobile

Just thought I would share. UCAMA4 is available for download over at sammobile. It is a big file and you have to go through Hotfile.
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=SGH-I317&pcode=ATT#firmware
Have you installed this update?
I did, just for something to do though, as it not so much an update as it is just UCALJ with the last two OTA's that AT&T had pushed out.
Is there a new modem?

I downloaded this as a 'just in case" backup in case I needed to return to stock - but, I am curious how you installed it. When I downloaded it - I expected it to be a tar file - but it doesn't appear to be one - did you use Odin to install? Or some other method? Can you explain
Thanks
After you unzip it you will find a .tar file that has a long name. I cannot remember the name but I know it is a long one and it is indeed a .tar file. And yes, use Odin. After I backed up all the files I wanted I did a factory reset, put it in download mode, and ran it through Odin.

1. Put the phone into Download Mode (Volume Down + Power when turning it on).
2. Load the .tar file into the "PDA" section of ODIN on your PC.
3. Click Flash
It's mainly a security patch and modem yes?
I have it running already via the OTA, but I think I'll pull it for storage..
Thank you OP.....g

Flashing t mobile stock rom on att note 2

I am going to switch my service from att to t mobile. Can I odin, a t mobile stock Rom on the att phone? I want to have wifi calling on it. I believe all the hardware is the same and it should work. I just want to make sure. Thanks in advance.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I did the opposite. I put a T-Mobile note 2 onto the AT&T network. I asked if I could put an AT&T rom in the T-Mobile phone and I was told it "could" cause compatibility issues. I went ahead and put the matching T-Mobile software in the phone.
Of course you should see what the more experienced folks have to say. I have been curious myself. I've been thinking about trying an AT&T rom in the phone. They did say the hardware is pretty much the same, but that it could cause issues with the factory installed software that remains even after a rom install.
Hopefully we hear from someone soon.

I know this is an old thread, but how do you do this? I've got an AT&T phone that I would like to load the stock T-Mobile build on. I've got a .md5 file for ODIN. Is it as simple as untar-ing the file, deleting the modem image, then retar-ing it and generating the .md5 file?
An additional complication is that I've enabled all of the radios using a Qualcomm utility.

I need to look and see if I can remember the files to remove. I know I did a trial and error thing and I can't seem to find my saved stock ROM. I'll keep looking for it though.
I assume it was the modem file, but I don't know for sure. The bigger question I have is how to re-create the ODIN file. I untar-ed a stock T-Mobile image from this thread. I deleted the modem.bin file, and tried to retar it according to the instructions here. I tried flashing it, but it's been "flashing" the boot image for over an hour. I'm about to reboot it, and try something else. Maybe tar-ing up each individual image, and flashing them one at a time? I don't understand why ODIN won't let me flash a .img or .bin file, but it'll allow a .tar that contains a .img or .bin? I'm hoping I haven't bricked it!

What happened with the process? I can't seem to find my old file(s) that I flashed, must have deleted it since I haven't had that phone in quite some time.
What I did was, I started to delete files within the ROM like modem, tz, hidden etc. until it fully booted.
Sorry I couldn't be more useful about this. I should have put it in my response thread on how I did flashing process.

[ROM][STOCK][PORT][*ODIN*] Stock rooted TW 4.4.2 (ported from sprint SGS3)

This, for the most part, is not my work. What this is is @DocHoliday77 's port of the sprint SGS3 4.4.2 ROM, which I have repackaged into an Odin .tar.md5; the point being for those who would rather flash this via ODIN instead of twrp/cwm.
You can thank DocHoliday77 for his hard work here, all I did was edit the build.prop and repackage with multiboot. Download link below.
Included in this .tar.md5:
-System image, with build.prop edited to accurately reflect our device.
-multiboot 2.12 recovery image (for those who don't know, it's TWRP 2.7 with the added ability to boot other ROMs in a sandbox)
-KT747 boot image, which is included with the original port flashable zip.
YOU MUST HAVE AN OFFICIAL 4.3 BOOTLOADER / MODEM INSTALLED. THERE IS NO WAY TO CIRCUMVENT THIS.

Not sure as I cant read your language, sorry. But one part says its LI1 and another says ND3. First, the bootloader/firmware version MUST be a 4.3 build.
Second, what is the ND3? Is that some sort of test build? Or did I miss something somewhere?

It does yeah, but I tried it without the md5sum and it failed as well, just after nand write start. On the download here the md5 check fails because the binary is supposedly invalid.
The system image was made by running mkfs-yaffs2-x86 on the system folder from the original port zip, running unyaffs does unpack it, but something is definitely not right with this image, I tried using unpack-ext4 on windows which usually works on odin system images but it didn't on this one.
Making an odin flashable isnt a straight forward process for the S3 it seems. MrRobinson is the only one I know of off hand that has an effective process to do so. He only gives clues to his process in his op. Ive done one a long time ago, but I think what I had to do was take tar the system.img dumped directly from the device using the dd command.
If I remember right, it had to be done immediately after flashing, been too long though so I cant remember for certain.
So if I am recalling it correctly, flash the rom, factory reset, then while still in recovery, using either adb or the built in terminal emulator, use dd to dump the image to your sd card.

It's a Stock 4.3 bulid from Telcel, Mexico, in SamMobile says this:
In english:
Ok, thanks for the clarification on that. Once its confirmed working, you should be able to flash it just fine. If that baseband is not 4.3 though, you will likely have to update it as well.
For now though, you can always just flash the rom this was built from. Should get you exactly the same thing, only the method is different.

Decided not to root this phone because of Samsung pay and I haven't had any luck with custom kernels on last 2 phones, always worse battery drain then stock. I don't understand why a custom kernel was needed for root this time I've used stock kernel on note 2,3,and 4. Maybe I'm just that dense and have never understood what goes into gaining root at any level but it's all good I'm happy with stock for once on a Samsung phone.

Is there some way were i can make these zips into md5 or .tar so i can flash them through odin? I've never used odin before and this is my first time actually using it, but is there someway were i can flash a zip through odin? I would like to try the deodexed, but is this made intentional as a rom? and if so do i just do the procedures of flashing a rom?
Sorry for all these questions i just never used odin before lol. Thanks for all the help!!

The firmware zip files are actually TAR files after you extract it from the zip file.
Once you extract the TAR file with winrar/winzip you need to flash it using Odin.
You cannot flash or install the firmware files if you don't extract the TAR files
and use them with Odin.
There is no way to flash zip files using Odin and you cannot use Odin to flash roms.
Roms are zip files which have to be flashed using twrp or philz recovery.
My suggestion for you is to do a lot of reading and research
here in xda before attempting to flashing anything.
Good luck,
Have a great weekend.
Odin will flash the .md5 files just takes a while as it verify's the file. Once verified you can press start.

Thanks for the toggle mod, it worked great!
I just hope that one of these days you can modify it so the toggles don't have a continuous scroll but
instead work more or less like the stock toggles notification screen where we normally edit them.
So far so good, not one erroneous reboot or any other issues after rooting.
The wifi calling is the one and only thing I have found which is not working.
I always disliked the secondary symbols on the keyboard, to me they are not only
an eye sore but they look like chicken scratches next to the letters making it more
difficult to read the letters so I edited the feature.xml & removed all the secondary
symbols and what a difference it made. It looks clean and easy to read now.
I did the same thing with my Note 3 and Note 4 as well.
Also,
There is one thing which I dislike after rooting, and that's philz recovery I
would so much prefer to use twrp instead.
What's the worst thing that can happen if I were to odin flash the twrp recovery
which the N920T Note 5 people are using?
I would love to give it a try if I knew for sure that if worst came to worst I could
simply odin flash philz recovery again.

ok look for these 2 lines in the updater script
Code:
run_program("/tmp/sqlite3", "/data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db", "insert into system values(null, 'notification_panel_active_number_of_apps','49');");
run_program("/tmp/sqlite3", "/data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db", "insert into system values(null, 'notification_panel_active_number_of_apps_for_reset','49');");
change the 49 to the number of toggles you want showing then in the lines above move around the toggles you want to the start of the line. Say you want 10 move the toggles you want to the first 10 in the order you want to show them. I haven't really tried this but in theory it should work as I like to be able to toggle any one from the scroll.
Yep the kernel has been solid! ipsec fc is wifi calling. I just sent a link to the source on my git for the G928T kernel to the developer and hopes he will make a true TMO kernel.
Yea the keyboard is much cleaner and love all the feature.xml mods
TWRP may work as long as you don't use f2fs. Don't mind Philz have used it before on my S5 when TWRP was causing problems.
Deodexed extraction problem
So I read in this forum that the tar file comes out when you extract the zip, so I did that, but all I get is a file folder. Is there some obvious way to get the tar file to flash with odin that i'm missing? I've read everywhere and I can't just switch the zip to tar so I really don't know what to do.... Can anyone explain to me on how to flash this? or at least get the tar file or maybe md5?
Thanks so much for the help!

What exactly did you want to flash? (we need more specifics)
What exactly do you see when you open the zip file?
You are right, you cannot rename the zip file to tar.
I am assuming that we are talking about odin flash firmware.
Good luck!

So you just odin'd the twrp and no worries? Seems like that will make rooting a lot easier.

I keep hearing with philz there is a lot of "don't let the phone reboot" "use this odin" "untick this" "press this button combination". Made me not want to root until some bad ass rom dropped. But if I can just odin twrp like every other Samsung phone I've owned, I may just go ahead root in the morning

Yeah its working perfectly for me. Im just not a fan of Philz So its just sent ahead and flashed twrp and its worked! Haha
