Hello,Fellow Nexus 5 Users! This is the review of the SlickWraps Skin for our Google Nexus 5.Most of you might have heard of SlickWraps. They produce a variety of skins for a plethora of devices such as smartphones, consoles, smartwatches etc.Do check out their website www.slickwraps.com and I’d like to thank them for sending one out to me for review.
So,The skin which I have here is the white alligator skin from the leather series. The package came to me by Post,Slickwraps does send these skins worldwide.Inside the package,The are the front, side and rear wraps for the Nexus 5 along with 3 tiny wraps for the USB cable and wall adapter.Slickwraps also includes a nice clear Screen Protector inside the Package.
The screen protector is good.It only covers the screen instead of covering the whole front of the phone. This prevent any TPU case from creeping under the protector and removing it
Installation
Coming to the skin, the installation is actually pretty simple.Just align the skin properly with all the ports and the buttons and you are good to go.Do keep a hair dryer next to you while installing because after installing the skin, you need to use it around the sides and edges of the screen. This will melt the vinyl of the skin and it will stick properly to the phone. Also, this skin is removable and it will not leave any residue. So if you don't get it right the first time, you can re apply it again. Also, when applying the front skin, make sure not to cover the proximity sensor because if you do, the screen would go off,in case you try to call someone.Try to keep the notification light blinking so that you don't cover it either.
My Opinions and Review
After using the skin for a few days,I feel that it is a nice little addition to the Nexus 5.It gives the phone a different look than the traditional colors and makes your phone stand out from the crowd. The cut outs are perfect for all the phones but I feel that the finishing of the skin is great but it could be slightly better. The skin attaches perfectly to the phone and it won't get detached from the phone accidentally.Overall, the skin feels very nice and in my opinion the white leather skin which I have looks amazing on the Nexus 5.For $16.95,considering that you also get a screen protector,it is definitely worth checking out.SlickWraps also did send me its camera lens protector and a few Nexus 'X' Stickers.
If you don't like this particular skin, there are many other series and colours to choose from.I have attacthed high resolution images of the skin in this thread.I hope you guys like it.

Do drop your questions and feedback about the skin.
Thank You!

Side pieces NEVER look good. Even applied perfectly they look hack.

Review: Skinplayer aluminize aluminium frame with screen protector

Just a simple review of the skinplayer aluminize aluminium frame for the SGS3.
Its made in korea and available in 11 colours, the frame comes standard with a aluminium home button, 1 mirror screen protector, 1 gloss clear screen protector, vinyl button for the menu and return button, skin for the battery lid and other accessories to help apply the frame and protector.
The cut out for the frame is very precise and fits right to the edge of the phone the silver version has the aluminium finish, but is covered with a coated to have a smooth finish, the frame has adhesive to stick to the screen of the phone and can be removed easily.
As in the photo's you can see with the frame on I can still use the tridea bumper, mercury jelly TPU case and the aeonaz S-contact case.
the screen protector is applied after the frame, and you can choose from clear or mirror finish.
The home button is also precisely cut, but the two other button is a let down, they used vinyl instead which doesn't look good, instead I used the mirror screen protector and did some cutout which looks better, you can see them on the photo's with the green tridea bumper.
Nice review, but in my oppinion this is sexual harrasment for your phone.

Yeah the shape of the button cutouts is not working for me.... Aluminum either but if it were different colors with better shaped cutouts then it'd be on my must have list

I couldn't wait for it to come on eBay. I ordered a red aluminum one. Probably receive it next week I'll update with local one I get it

It looks great on its own, but putting it on the phone makes an otherwise great looking device look like a chinese toy.

It comes in 12 different colors. I just like the fact that they're aluminium.

Skinomi Carbon Fiber Skin is absolutely gorgeous!

So I decided that I got tired of Samsung's infamous glossy polycarbonate fingerprint-magnet casing and decided to do something about it. I think you'll find the results below are quite stunning if I do say so myself.
Feel free to comment and share your thoughts/questions. : )

I normally dislike skins, but I do have to agree that this one looks rather nice.

That case looks pretty much identical to the Poetic case I got from Amazon - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B008YZ8VL8. I get on very well with it as it is not too bulky.
Have added two pics for you guys of the front and my case and carbon fiber stylus as well.

Hey mate, the skin looks awesome and I'm thinking of getting one. Question, what weather widget are you running?
I've had the skinomi brushed steel skin on my note for about two months now. After about 5 weeks, the thinner strips along the front bezel and sides started to slip and the adhesive seemed to be breaking down. I have since removed them and now only have the pack pieces on. I did contact skinomi via amazon and I believe they are going to offer a replacement. Just a heads up. I'll be curious to see how yours wears on...

Cruzerlite Nexus 5 Skin Review

I purchased this skin directly from Cruzerlite and it came with in a few days time. I have had a few skins for my Nexus 5 and this one fits and feels really well. The cut outs are spot on and each side piece fits perfectly around the edges. I did have to use a hair dryer to smooth out the corners a bit but that is to be expected.
I like the texture of the skin; kind of like a lizard skin if you will. The color however isn't close to the render that we is on Amazon or Cruzerlite.com. It is more of a light green or if you want to compare the color to a fruit - Avocado, and not lime green. Yes monitors can differ from one another and can cause it to look different, however, my monitors are calibrated.
The skin will protect the phone from scratches and scrapes and it makes the phone more to your style. It is made with 3M vinyl and it is fairly thick which helped with the instillation. I tried a Florescent Red from Cruzerlite and that skin was very thin and was hard to get on correctly. Not sure if all of the Florescent skins are thin like the one I had.
Pros-
Easy Instillation
Great Fit
Protects from Scratches
Price
Look and Feel
Extra Fronts and Sides just in case you mess up some how.
Cons-
Color is a bit off from the render.
On to the florescent red skin.
This one is a bit of a different story.
The skin was very thin and hard to align and Could not for the life of me get the bubbles out of it. I did like the color of it though. Very bright!
I would for the time being stay away from those skins. Too difficult and too bubbly.
Did you use a hair dryer when installing the green one? If that’s the result I would definitely stay away from it – I couldn’t use a phone skin with back corners lifted/creased up like that, it will get dust/lint in no time and will eventually peeled off
As I mentioned in the Cruzerlite thread earlier that they should provide “real” images of the skins so the customer know what color/look they’ll really get.
I did after I took the pictures. Much better now.

Is it just me or do these skins look super tacky and cheapens the phone. It's like wrapping your sofa up in plastic.

Rugged Case: Anyone willing to try the iGadgitz Tyre Tread Case? Amazon.com $2.99

I know a lot of people here like their rugged style cases. I love minimalism so it's a little too big for me, but this one just popped up and might interest some people. There are no reviews yet, so XDA might need a guinea pig to be first to test it out.
It's a silicone case, so I figure it's squishy. I do like the tyre tread design. And with the F1 2014 season starting up this weekend, what car guy/gal wouldn't want to walk around with a tyre stuck against their face? Haha

The fact that the case wraps around the top and bottom of the bezel ruins it for me :| i rely on the notification LED too much. But I absolutey love the design of the case on the back!!!
I think they needed a big lip over the top, sides, and bottom because it's silicone. It's the only way to hold the case on securely with a soft, stretchy material. If it was TPU it wouldn't be needed.
With it being silicone, it would probably be easy to punch a hole/notch manually with a paper hole puncher; if you really wanted the notification light exposed.
I just love those tyre treads though.

I can't say much for the case being on the nexus 5, but I know for a fact it's no good on my iPod touch, especially when you're taking it out of your pocket, it flops around. It is good for drops though, I'll give it that

Nexus 5 skins with screen protector?

I currently have a Nillkin tempered glass screen protector.
Kind of tired of a case (since I almost drop my phone anyway) and am wondering if I could get a skin for my nexus.
Only problem being the fact that I'm pretty sure I can't apply the skin on top of the skin. But what will become of my nillkin? How will I protect my screen if I have a skin on the phone?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
I have the same protector and dbrand allow you to order a skin for the back and sides only. Which is what I'm using at the moment

Hello,
Lot's of people have installed SW onto Temper Protectors ranging from .40mm to the thinnest at .10mm. The key is of course to take your time and apply it as instructed. Slickwraps are very forgiving, however it does help to get it right the first time.
As a second option all Slickwraps come with an XD screen protector that fits in the middle of the wrap, thus adding that screen protection.
Always feel free to let me know if you have any questions!
Weston
Slickwraps.com
I want the front white though, never liked the whole white on back but black everywhere else design that Google had, it looks ridiculous. All I want is an all white Nexus 5. (Nexus 4 had tempered glass protectors with the bezel areas white, but it seems that doesn't exist for N5).
Interesting Weston, I might give it a try then. If only that XD protector was tempered glass.
