Hi Everyone,
I'm currently rocking Wicked ROM v5 with SaberN3Kernel_10.7 on Android 4.3 and I have a few questions that I searched around for but couldn't find clear answers.
When I'm ready to upgrade to KitKat or whatever version is out by then, can I just use OTA update from T-Mobile or do I need to flash the stock ROM myself using ODIN?
If I ever wanted to flash a new custom ROM or a stock ROM would I still have Saber Kernel or would it get overwritten by whatever the new ROM came with?
Thanks In Advanced,
Art

1. If you are running g a custom ROM you will need to download the official version from sammobile.com and then flash using odin. The OTA does not work if using a custom ROM.
2. When you upgrade to 4.4 you will loose root and your kernel. It's just as easy to root 4.4 as it was 4.3. If you have a custom kernel and you flash a new ROM most of the time you are given a choice if you want to flash their kernel or not. If it does flash their kernel you can always reflash the one you want. Just as a side note, if you upgrade to 4.4 make sure your kernel is built for 4.4.

i have a new question there is a rom called pure performance x cm version i need to know how to install when i go to install it does install when it reboots i go to the kit kat 4.4.2 again every time i am wanting to know how to install it on my samsung galaxy tab 3 7.0 smt210r the rom is for any device so can someone help me with this thanks
It's not an actual ROM. Its just some performance scripts to improve your ROM. I personally like it, and am using it on both stock 4.1.2 and the ported 4.4.2.

how did you do that can u tell me so i might be able to do the same thanks
Yeah. All you have to do is flash your ROM of choice, boot back to recovery, wipe cache and dalvik cache, then flash the pure performance zip and reboot. That's it. But, if you're flashing a stock based ROM, make sure you use the stock version.

The PurePerformance Mod has two versions, one for CM and one for Stock. If you're flashing Gr8nole's CM11 you'll want to use the CM version of Pure Performance. If you're flashing Bensonhsu's 4.4.2 port, you'll want to use the stock version of Pure performance.
help
where can i get the ported 4.4.2 at for the cm performance

Okay, Gr8nole's CM11 is Cyanogenmod. Bensonhsu's port is simply a port of the t211 STOCK rom. PurePerformance MOD has two different versios. One made ONLY for Cyanogenmod based roms, and one ONLY for STOCK based roms. They cannot be used interchangeably. Therefore if you are flashing Bensonhsu's port, which is a STOCK rom, you'll need to use the STOCK version of PurePerforance MOD. Or, if you are flashing Gr8nole's CM11, you will need to use the CM version of PurePerformance MOD

Hi, I'm going to install CM11 soon.
It's the first time to install custom ROM on this phone.
Do I have to change kernel and/or firmware as well?
If yes, when do I do that? before or after installing CM11?
What choice do I have for kernel and firmware?
How do I know which is the right one for my phone?
Thanks,
All you need to know is in this guide written by @leripe :highfive:. Thanks to him for that.

Hello,
I have a HTC One m8 International model running stock Rom lollipop. Is there a way to disable system write protection? Every time an app tries to write something in system, the phone reboots. I know about wp_mod but it is for android 4.4.4 and I don't know if it can be used on the stock Rom. Is there any solution to this? I don't want to flash a custom Rom just because of this...
Thank you in advance!

You can flash custom kernel like ElementalX for example, no need to install custom ROM
Does the kernel affect my daily usage in any way? If I want to go full stock, can I find the original kernel here , on xda?
No idea as I don't use custom kernel only own modded stock kernel.
You can make a backup of your stock kernel before you install the custom one.
If you go full stock for OTA purpose, you don't need to revert to stock kernel.

If you look through the thread for the wp_mod, it says that the mod is version specific (so a 5.0 ROM will need the corresponding 5.0 mod, the 4.4.4 one won't work). It also says near the end of that thread, you can pull the boot.img from a corresponding custom ROM (similar base) and flash it to your phone to disable write protection (the kernels from custom ROMs have the mod applied).
Please, please. I really want to use the ROM because of the touchwiz. Will it be possible? Thank you!
Although I do not have the model in your post, you would need to install a custom recovery and flash the rom from the custom recovery.
