[Q] Sprint S4 Mini on Verizon? - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any way to flash an Verizon sch-i435 firmware to my unlocked Sprint sph-L520 S4 Mini, to use it on their network?
Please correct me if I'm taking the wrong approach to this. Simply installing SPH-L520 CyanogenMod wouldn't be enough to use it on Verizon, would it?
Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, but I searched for a few hours before deciding to post my question.

I'm not sure if the firmware swap would help. CyanogenMod would allow way more options I'd think than TW by far. Maybe see if the Dev would help with Verizon parts. Try that and get back to us here if you try anything. Oh and beware of Knox if you try those others, no clue of what a mess that could turn out being.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm starting to doubt if this can be accomplished, but will post back here with my result.

DONT WANT A BRICK? Check here

As of right now, the roms for your S3 are not meant to be used on other S3 variants. Bricks might happens or a soft one might happen. Before flashing a Rom make sure you are in the right development section an you read the entire op, twice. Until other devs or experienced users find a way to make them cross compatible, please refrain from using other carriers S3 roms.
Also wind mobile an Tmobile are interchangeable, just don't flash the modems.
ONLY FLASH THE ROMS IN THIS FORUM!

I second this, guys PLEASE don't risk it. It is not worth it. Right now I think most devs are working on their own ROMs, but we should have a patch soon to allow cross-compatibility.
think some peeps are confused by whats before tmo development. (AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III) just my opinion but good idea on thread.
Mr Highway:
Could you start another thread for Windmobile Android Development?
In the past all Windmobile phones are just T-mobile phone rebadge.
In this case, it does not in terms of kernels....(and may be baseband)
I am working on this so that all roms will work on all carriers

AMEN!! Some fool I know ALREADY called me with a bricked gs3! I'm gonna sit back and let the pros do their thing, and that's DEFINITELY the safest bet!
thanks for the reminder and jsut to make sure ....
i have rogers sgh-i747
i want to be in this AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III - xda-developers thread for everything correct ?
and not in the Samsung Galaxy S III I9300 thread ?
I keep seeing posts about ROMs that can work on these variants of galaxy S3s. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the ROMs supposed to be specific to GSM or CDMA? When I flashed windows based roms on my touch pro II, that was one of the things to look out for. Is it possible to create a ROM for all carriers?

Yes and no.
With the use of aroma-installer, we could set it up to detect your phone type (well, not we....I don't know that much about it but I saw the thread discussing this) and aroma would be able to install the necessary files based on your phone.
As of now, for instance, mine works across all GSM carriers. clark44 is current working to get everything switched up so it also works for Sprint (mostly appears to be the apk files and XML files) that are specific to the phone. As of now, he has it booting and working fine except there is a large rush of FCs on initial bootup but then everything runs fine.
I wasn't even aware you could make a patch to allow cross-compatibility! XDA never fails to surprise
Just a thought, but maybe they could do it like the SlimROM on multiple devices. He has a common base ROM and another flashable for each device supported. It works out perfectly and multiple ROMs for multiple carriers.
I figure it will be easier than doing it for different devices since I read that all the US variants are essentially the same. Not sure but worth a look.

Will there ever be any SGH-T999V development?
Does anyone think that someone with a SGH-T999V Wind Mobile variant will ever be able to root their phone so they can overclock the cpu, etc?
Why not? I am using a custom rom and overclocked to 1890 at the moment.
Just use the windows way to root. I knbow it works
I have not tried the toolkit.
If you are going to flash a custom rom just make sure it does not contain the boot, modem and amss file in the rom that you are flashing.

What about using i9300 themes and mods? Will this cause constant FCs or other issues?

I am curious of this too. I have the wind mobile galaxy s 3 and I was hoping to put cyanogenmod on it. Is this possible? Let me know, any help would be appreciated.

I'm more curious as to what exactly the differences are between the 2 variants (i.e. t999 vs t999v). What could possibly make them so different from each other that ROMs from tmobile wouldn't work on wind GS3?
What if you accidentally tried to flash i9300 rom and your phone is not turning on.
With the forums changed I accidentally flashed the wrong version rom on my phone. :crying:

Thanks for the link, unfortunately the phone will not go into download mode for odin, it won't even turn on.
After doing some research it looks like I have to fix it through jtag.
I think I could do it, but you need some expensive jtag box that connects to the computer(It's called the Riff Box), but it would be cheaper if I just sent my phone into here it costs $60. Not ideal, but not a complete disaster either. Unless there is some other way to JTAG I am out of options.

Good question, since it was originally Sprint I would say Sprint, but you'll need a Verizon prl for data to work... take that with a grain of salt though cuz I could be wrong
Just make a backup and try some roms, worse thing that will happen is a soft brick, then Odin to the rescue! Just don't flash an international version Rom, that will hard brick you...
After you find out, let us know so we can let the next person know also, thanks!:thumbup::thumbup:

Thanks for the reply flash, I agree about not using international roms for these phones, although I haven't tried any, I was able to see through some digging around that they generally don't work out...I flashed Sprint's version rom along with a sprint-verizon hybrid prl which is looking good so far..txt, calling, data and mms all working
I installed the phantomblaze 2.1, 5176 prl and finally flashed the TPR-MB.zip to get rid of the OTA updates pop up..5176 prl gets rid of the constant roaming notifications, that's why I chose to flash that prl for anyone that comes in looking..did a lot of research and the forum was very helpful..If anyone finds themselves in a similar situation, feel free to msg and I can help u out through the process..I am still curious to whether verizon roms would work if anyone has any experience with that, please share..thanks

You my friend will have a shiny new BRICK if you stick around here in this forum.
This is the Tmobile T999 Galaxy S4 forum and anything you find here will cause
you a lot more harm than good. It looks like you have a Galaxy S4 9505 phone.
Why not go to the correct forum and try to get help there.

Question about flashing and backup...

Hey guys,
I'm new to galaxy Note II. I was wondering if I could get a firmware with blue icons and without any AT&T crapware. Maybe a 4.2 version if possible. What is the best clean firmware which is closest to the generic android with blue icons. I prefer no mods or change in icons. On-buttons would be nice though.
Also how can I backup this rom completely so I can go back to the AT&T's firmware when I'm done with my contract. Any help would be appreciated .
Thank you,
SnowTauren
questions go in Q&A, not in general...
your questions sound like you dont really know anything about Android or this phone, so I would STRONGLY advise you dont flash anything, until you do ALOT more reading...do you know how to root? do you know what a nandroid is? Do you know how to restore a backup? Do you know how to tell what version of Android you are on? Do you know the actual model number of this phone?
If you cant answer every one of those questions, dont even TRY to do anything to your phone until you do..
I'm sorry I made this post in the wrong section. And yes I've been rooting and changing firmwares for my Sony Xperia X10i. However, I also had it's original firmware with me. So whenever I messed up I was able to flash back to factory defaults.
But i'm new to Note II, I don't know if anything is different on this phone. I know my phone is N7100. I'm pretty much good with computers and phones . Just new to this phone.
Anyway my question was which firmware is the best and closest to generic and what can I use to backup my Note II.
Thanks
you are in the wrong thread for a 7100..this thread is for the ATT version, I317....

My bad, like I said I'm new to the Note II. Anyway i have the AT&T version which is I317.
I'm also running the ATT version. Stock isn't so bad as long as you never update the branded apps.
I strongly recommend that you run stock before going on a flash bend. Other phones NEED to be flashed, but this beauty doesn't really need it.

Lollipop modem+bootloader

The dream come true for users that want to be able to flash S6 rom. Since tmobile is holding back on the upgrade and by the looks of it will not be releasing it as soon as we hope I wanted to see if anyone with an extra phone that is willing to to some test on a m919 that they have as a spare or maybe they upgraded .so in previous discussion that I had with i9505 there is a tmobile Germany bootloader and modem that may work for our m919 however without trying we won't know to see if this method will work. According to some post that I put on i9505 forum, users said that it may work so I am asking If anyone wants to flash at their own risk remember there is always that possibility that it could brick the phone. So I have all the files need if your interested to test let me know and I will send

When I read their response to your question about this, I see they are not talking about T-Mobile s4 variants, they talking about T-Mobile network.
No one know until someone tries ...it's either success or fail we won't know until it happens but I am leaning toward success since i337 and i545 m919v are very different then our s4 but the closest is i9505 and with the same tmobile network as ours but from another country there is a that possibility that it might work

I have tried with no luck my friend Thanks anyway for suggesting this.
Note: Flashing a bootloader and modem meant for a different device can brick your phone. Bootloaders and modems are matched to each other as well as the specific model device it is meant for and signed by Samsung for that device.
