[Q] Amazon question

So i have an EVO 4g lte and i want to sell my evo 4g....anyway i prefer to use amazons trade in system because its quicker and simpler IMO. So anyway i was wondering if anyone has done this with a phone...im asking because i want to know if they check for root cuz i am rooted but i installed the stock RUU?
You could just unroot and bring everything back to stock. Nothing to worry about then.

yeah thats the thing i through a stock ruu on it but forgot to completely unroot and already sent it it....oh well i guess ill find out if they take rooted devices or not

4th time I had to factory restore. This is unbelievable.

Had my N72013 for 2 weeks now, and it boot loop'd four times on me twice in one day.
This can't be only happening to me.
I ordered from Google (big mistake), their rep said they can send me a new model but I would have to pay for it (dock the amount) first then once I receive it, send in my current model then wait to get my $$$ back.
Is this an issue with 4.3 or the device. I really don't want to return it if this problem could be patched away with an update...
Forgot to mention, I'm unlocked and rooted. 32gigs. No dead pixels, minor light bleed that doesn't bother me at all.
What would you do?

If its boot looping that's not normal obviously you know that so I would exchange it. Keep swapping until you get a good one.

wha?? I would return immediately.
Yea I don't know why its boot looping either. Maybe your factory images are corrupt and thus you keep restoring a bad image. Perhaps you have a bad sector in your memory.
You could test it by flashing a non-stock rom, such as CM10.2 which also uses a CM kernel.
Use it for a few days and See if the problem goes away or stays.
Either way, reflash stock using the Google Nexus 7 images. If the problem stays, then take it back. If it fixes it, then keep it.

Thought I'll give you an update.. Installed CM10.2 for a few days, as you said.. No issues what so ever. Decided to try my luck with CoolRom and it bootlooped the moment I rebooted.
Decided on doing a complete wipe of the device and flashing a factory rom ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2381582 ).
Don't want to give up hope yet.

Not sure why you would need to root this device. Its straight android and runs great without root or custom ROM.

Rooted it for some apps that required root access.

There are tons of apps that require root access and are mandatory for many people including me.
I wouldn't bother to unlock and root. The N7 is flawless and fast out of the box.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Again, root access is required for most decent backup programs and cloud data syncing apps. The issue doesn't require a debate about whether you need root or not. Yes the N7 is wicked fast and if you only use it as a bathroom reader for Facebook and light use, then that's cool. I like OTG support for my thumb drives when I'm in the field working.
Glad CM is working for you. That at least shows it isn't a hardware problem. I'd reflash stock images and see where that leaves you. Worse case you use CM (oh my!) until we see a patch.
It sounds like it just has a corrupted stock image. Kernels typically cause the reboots but a bad app or system file can too.
If you flash stock back and you still have issues, try just flashing a modified stock kernel (stock rom/custom stock kernel). CM has its own kernel which might be why it was working better.
You also should do a complete wipe between stock and CM and AOSP and vice versa. It typically bootloops if you dirty flash one type of rom over another. Stock and AOSP are pretty much the same thing but some custom ROMs like CM have different structures that hose you.

I flashed a stock image unroot, relocked. The process went without a hitch. Then I unlocked and rooted, flashed clean ROM, tried to see if I would get it to bootloop and it hasn't! Must've been a corrupt image.
I just want to thank you again, your advice saved me a lot of time and hassle with Google.

I do not understand the hassle with Google.
I told them yesterday to get a new device, as wireless charging does not work. I talked max 10 minutes on the phone and I received an email 2 minutes after saying that I'll get a new device.
Yes, they will charge you "temporarily" for this, but you do not have to pay anything.
Anyway, it's me, I found it easy with Google.
Mine bootlooped today. Stock. No root or anything. I was forced to do a factory reset from recovery. Very troubling that this seems to be happening to a few people. There's a couple of threads over on android central of people having the same problem.

I will admit this device is great without root but I prefer custom ROMs and titanium backup

Super glad its worked. It worked for me. It worked for another guy. And worked for you. I think there is a bad rom image flashed on all of these that are causing lots of problems. The only fix is to clean slate and reflash the stock image, or move to custom ROMs.
Probably need to get someone to write a little app that just automates flashing the stock image again just for simplicity.
I'll probably create a new thread covering this.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
The stock images and the install script .bat file is simple enough.
Especially if you're rooted already. Since you already have the drivers installed on your computer.
Toolkits need to die a slow painful death.
You need root access a pen drive using an OTG cable, install app like titanium backup etc. Rooting doesn't mean custom rom or kernel

[Q] how to use Android Revolution HD 53 on Verizon HTC One

is it possible by any means to successfully flash Android Revolution HD 53 on a Verizon HTC One Device without any issues
I wouldn't unless it specifically says compatible with Verizon version of the one.
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using xda app-developers app
If I'm not mistaken, you were asking for help on fixing your softbricked One after you flashed ARHD to it. You also asked a few weeks back about changing your CID to let you flash stuff not intended for the Verizon model.
Please, stop. You clearly don't know what you're doing. Take a break from flashing ROMs and browse the forums for info on the HTC flashing process and how the Verizon One differs from the international model. It would be a waste if you bricked a perfectly good phone that you had to import from the US.

i know its a perfect device but comes with many Verizon apps that i don't want and don't use at all. also the battery life that i am getting is quiet not good that is why i thought to put a diff. custom Rom that promises for better battery life and performance but since now i know that its incompatible with my device i would like to use stock version for now. i like ARHD because it gives a stock like experience. i just love the HTC's userinterface and OS that is why i won't be flashing any other Rom like ViperOne or CM which is even compatible with it.
my device is now currently fixed and i won't be tinkering it for while now
Viper is based on stock so it can be as custom or stock looking as you want.

Santod040's debloated, rooted, deodexed/odexed stock ROM seems to me to be exactly what you're describing. I've been using his versions after the OTA updates, and they've been perfect.
(I'm often messing with settings or playing games on my phone, fiddling with Tasker etc., and I get good battery life. Usually 60% plus left going from 6:30AM to 9:00PM. Anecdotal, I know, but still.)

To root or not to root?

Upgraded from a note 2 to a 3 and I'm loving it. I always root and are coming from jedi roms. Is the note 3 that noticeably better rooted? I've read alot of threads where people have many problems. I genuinely wanna root asap but are hesitant. Someone help push me over the edge to flash land

Ok. Let me push you over the edge. I had never considered rooting a phone until I got the note 3. I decided to root so I could customise the pen widow ap. It has been the best thing that I have ever done with a phone. Yes the note 3 can be a little temperamental when attempting to flash ROMS but there is a lot of support and if you need help pm me and I will help to get you going. Going to put in a plug here for my ROM of choice. JEDI ROMS are good but I have not found a better setup so far than X-Note. Any questions about it and I will be glad to answer. Don't let other people's problems change your mind about rooting. This is a must root device.
Thanks mate, is that compatible with tmobile. I checked thread and it looks pretty sweet. I liked the air command themes. I got some questions, I'll pm you

Totally worth it man. Very easy to do as well. Not only the customizations mentioned above but also aosp roms and such are wonderful. W03 Slim is fantastic!
It's so easy to unroot the phone and go back to stock, so you might as well give it a shot and see how you like it. Unless you're completely incompetent then nothing too bad should come out of it. I personally like having my phone rooted without any custom ROMS. But that's just me, a lot of others would say different.
I am hoping to unlock SIM for a t-mobile phone / region unlock. I understand I can do that by rooting it. Can I root and leave it with stock firmware, and will I get OTA updates? Also, is it safe and easy to unroot. IF it's unrooted, will they know it was rooted (i.e. warranty void?)
Thanks
Rooting doesn't void warranty either. I was skeptical too. Rooted on 4.3 and loving it.

Waiting for my phone. Hopefully it's still on 4.3. So can someone confirm I understand everything all this correctly.
I can root with Root de vega (if still on older firmware) and it won't trigger anything to void warranty. I just want to use region unlock to try unlock the sim/region. After that...I can either unroot? or keep it root. IF I keep it root...but I want the latest firmware (not custom)...is that possible? I've seen video about flashing the firmware from Sammobile with Odin which brings it back to unroot stock...but what if I just want the newest stock firmware without unrooting? Do I need some other recovery and flash something else? Will putting in different recovery cuz the warranty tracker to trigger?

Now we must pay for RUU ?

Check this https://twitter.com/LlabTooFeR/status/465562477062008832
So we are not expecting soon a RUU for free ?
Looks to me if you have problems flashing your device, then for a fee they will do it for you over the internet. They don't appear to be selling RUUs

I'm interested in this too. Maybe he works for htc? I know his Rom since day one is a higher build than everyone else's. You can also build an ruu with stock backup. I don't know how but that is what someone did with Verizon.

he also has inside info months ahead of time
I can see why he's done it as HTC threaten legal action but I then can't see how he can 'sell' them as people are still then going to be using them. Also, I'd never trust running an RUU over the Internet as one broken connection and the phone is dead so they'd have to transfer the RUU to your PC locally (and then you could just make a copy of it)
