Am I able to add wifi calling into any of the Google Play Edition roms for the M8? I rely on Wifi calling at work and home. I've seen it is possible on the S4. Can it be done on the M8?
I may be wrong, looks like its not possible. Shoot, I may be going back to Sense. I really like and want wifi calling.
If we just had multirom so we could shoot back and fourth. What I'm waiting for

For SMS over t-mobile wifi calling works great. MMS on ICS/JB roms seems to have issues but GB ROMS it worked the last time I tried it. I would also note that when I was in Europe with WIFI only (no roaming on my phone), that MMS messages wouldn't go, but SMS did.
Also if you use T-Mobile WIFI Calling make sure you signup for the **free** add on. If you don't when you use WIFI Calling, it counts against your minutes when calling someone.
Thanks for the info. I'm using Andromadus Mimicry v1.3.2. So maybe that's the problem?

Works fine for me. I have very poor coverage at home, wifi-calling is the main reason I'm not running the JB ROM full time.
Been using Mimicry as my DD for a couple months. T-Mobile's wifi-calling sometimes flakes and doesn't want to connect, but if it says it's connected SMS is fine. Not sure about MMS.
Its been confirmed that mms over tmo wifi calling doesn't work on ics by edkeys. But you can see when you receive an mms and at that point you can switch to cell data and just get it. And then switch back to wifi calling

I'm using 1.3.2 as well, but you have to be using the 26.13.04.19 radio in order for the T-Mobile wifi calling app to work. Calling and SMS works, MMS doesn't.
PS: Installing the Google Now zip will break wifi calling (ie: it'll be active, but will fail to receive/send)
I haven't noticed the Google now error ill have to test

When I tested, the icon showing wifi calling enabled looked fine and all, and wifi bars would show with data bars off just like normal. However when you goto send an sMS for example it would immediately fail as if it were relying on the data connectivity. Something in the Google Now Package (tried v5 and v6) breaks it. But if you were to re-flash edkey's wifi calling after Google Now it seems to work.
I guess the reason I never noticed was because when I did it I flashed mimicry then google now and wifi calling. That only happened because when I upgraded to the new mimicry I noticed wifi calling missing so that's why I added it last. I guess I just got lucky

Hey guys in the pass I have been able to make Google Video calls without being connected to WiFi however now I'm receiving a message that I must be connected to WiFi in order to make a video call. Does anyone know how to fix this issue so I cab make/receive calls whether I'm on WiFi or data?

Ok I'm at my girls house and no service. Which ROMs can I use to use WiFi calling or send mms
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
Touch wiz or stock 4.0.x based
Jedi kight 6 works great and the wifi calling starts quickly.
I'm on aokp. I love it but just not able to send messages or get my calls. It really sucks that I'm going to have to change it. I got one bar and I'm lucky to have that lol. It's like I'm in a dead zone :banghead:

I'm lost but interested lol
Scratch that. It calls from a different number. I've used that app before. It's affective but I want people to know it's me calling. Guess I'm just stuck with going with a ROM that has WiFi calling.

Any TMo touch wiz based ROM will work.
Following the various instructions around the web, I can't seem to set up SIP dialing and I think it's disabled by my provider (Telus SII X using stock Telus 4.0.3 from Kies). Can anyone verify that this is the case before I resort to modding my folks' T989D using a baked ROM? I need a setup that's rock solid and doesn't need flashing a new ROM-of-the-week or them pissing around with their phone (with me inevitably on the other line guiding them through it - I'm no expert myself). Thanks!
the vonage app is FREE and it calls from your number over WIFI or 4G data... you can also text from there too, for free, from your number...
I was using the stock messaging app because I like it a lot and and I started to see that pictures looked like crap when sent to others even after changing the mms to 1000k. I then started using hangouts and saw that pictures are set more high quality, why is this happening on stock? This first image was sent via hangouts and the second image was using stock messaging app, you can see a big difference in quality
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
you have the option to set mms to 1000k!? my stock app only goes to 300k! haha wtf
Yeah I'm on att but still when you attach the photo it's like 80kb which lowers the quality a lot

I'd prefer to use hangouts but I send and receive a lot of pictures for work and am often on wifi. On hangouts I have to disable wifi to download the mms. On stock, I don't

Yup. Send fails over wifi. You'll receive a text saying you have an sms, but it won't successfully download until you go off wifi.
Mms is sent through the cell network so it makes sense, but the stock app works which makes me think it temporarily disables wifi in those situations. Why can't hangouts do the same?
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
Yeah my stock app compresses too. I only got 100-300k options. Bummer too cuz I like it more than other messaging apps. If there's a fix to this I'd like to know.

Hey all, I'm looking to try out some 3rd party sms apps. Not in love with the stock one and Hangouts can't send/receive MMS when I'm connected to wifi.
Anybody know of any SMS apps that MMS works while connected to WIFI like the stock app?
(posting this in general rather than Q&A in case others are looking for the same thing in the future).
Thanks all
Are you asking for an app that sends MMS via WiFi? I don't think that's possible. When I'm connected to WiFi on stock app it uses 4g to send MMS and I have wifi calling on too.

I think I confused myself lol. Okay, so normally my WiFi calling is set to cellular preferred so most of the time I have cell signal when connected to WiFi. When I'm on WiFi and send a MMS the 4g logo pops up so it never sends MMS on WiFi or at least not when I have a signal. Was op trying to ask for an app that'll send MMS over WiFi calling when he has no cell signal? Also, I think WiFi calling can send regular SMS when there's no cell signal. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on that one.

when youre connected to wifi calling your signal bars should be empty with an x signifying you have no mobile radio. wifi calling handles calls/sms/mms. and any 3rd party messaging app other than hangouts should also work the same way since they actually use the stock messaging app still.

Oh gotcha. It's gotten much better where I live. Now when I make calls a lot of times it says HD in the bottom right. Do you know what that means? At first I thought maybe it was volte but I think that's only implemented in a handful of cities

HD means HD calling. T-Mo has it in places and it supposedly makes call quality much better. I havent seen it here yet so I cant comment but Ive read tech site reviews that say its legit. I think Sprint has it too.
According to the T-Mo website HD calls are nationwide now. If thats the case and we have it here, it sucks. Call quality is awful here, echoes and random noise during calls.
