Thanks for taking the time first!
I recently updated to CM10.2 but had issues that I overlooked. Those issues lead to my phone hard bricking... Completely black and no power.
After doing research, I found out about a Jig but while I was waiting for it come in the mail I found out about the SD Unbrick. I tried the SD Unbrick and the phone came back on! However, I got the following:
______________________________________________
BOOT RECOVERY MODE
CHECK BOOT PARTITIONS
BOOT RECOVERY
WRITE 159488 sectors
FLASH WRITE FAILURE
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SGH-T999
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: NO
CURRENT BINARY: SAMSUNG OFFICIAL
SYSTEM STATUS: NONE
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE
Warranty Bit: 0
BOOTLOADER RP SWREV: 1
and after trying to flash via ODIN - Odin says "there is no pit partition"
and the phone I get:
"ODIN: flash read failure" at the bottom
______________________________________________
I got the Jig in the mail today and tried it without the SD and the phone wouldn't boot up.
However, and this weird part, if I have the SD Debricker in the phone and then use the Jig it boots up without me even having to touch the power button. Not sure what to do at this point?
From what I've read so far, the Warranty Bit: 0 might be my problem but I'm not sure? I can't get anything to install on the phone. I have yet to get the phone into a download mode that has the android mascot either.
Thanks for any all help!

Flashing a PIT file does you no good if the phone can't read from or write to the internal storage.
I'm in the same boat, and this sounds like an eMMC failure.
I have not heard about anyone who has had success fixing this kind of brick, JTAG or otherwise.
I wish I had a RIFF box to test that theory, but I can't spend much more money to fix this.
[OT]I wish there was a way to disable Qualcomm Secure Boot (bootloader signature checking),
because that would allow us to use 4.1 debrick images with a 4.3 bootloader, cross-device bootloaders,
and possibly boot Android directly from the SD card, bypassing this useless brick "download" mode.
If Android booted, we might have low-level access to the eMMC, assuming the hardware still works. But no, Catch-22...[/OT]
Considering he can get it to boot with the SD card, and Odin says there is no PIT file, its at least worth a shot before writing it off.
I've tried every combination I can think of: different PIT files, different debrick images, different versions of ODIN, repartition/no repartition, and I don't think any amount of fiddling with this useless "download mode" (I'm not convinced it's actually in download mode BTW) will make it flashable. I'd like to try JTAG or a low-level format, but both require eMMC hardware that isn't dead. Not being able to boot into Android like the debrick image is supposed to let you do is frustrating, because if it got as far as recovery mode I could at least poke at the eMMC.
OP, if JTAG is an option for you, don't expect it to work, but if you do try, let us know how it goes.
If this flash write failure is fixable with JTAG, I'd love to know - I'm just not prepared to pay shipping costs to send it in for JTAG repair when it's near certain that they won't be able to fix it without replacing the eMMC chip (expensive and risky) or the motherboard.

Can you clarify "boot"? Is it the same screen that says "BOOT RECOVERY MODE" at the top?
If you can boot into recovery or Android from the SD card, you may be able to poke at the eMMC and reset it.
If I'm not mistaken, a jig is supposed to automatically boot into download mode, and that's all. If you can boot with the sd debrick image, then inserting the jig should work normally.
When I got the sd debrick method working, I was able to fully boot system, recovery and download mode. Of course if you don't have a working system after attempting to flash over your last rom it won't boot that part, but you should be able to get to recovery.
Have you tried flashing just twrp or cwm via odin? Does it give the same message as you posted above?
If you can boot to a custom recovery, have you tried flashing another rom?

Yes, when it "boots" up it says "BOOT RECOVERY MODE" -- I don't have nor get the Android mascot either.

Oh man....I remember in the note3 forums people mentioned they needed a properly signed pit.....I hope that this isnt the case for us on 4.3! Search for a program called pit magic. I dont know if it can help or not, but its worth a try.

I have had a wierd issue with booting. My phone was fine until a couple days ago when i booted and the screen went black after the boot animation. I've odined to stock and now im stuck on the samsung image. It seems like somethign is corrupt right on boot. Does anyone have access to the pit file for a repartition or do you have any suggestioins?
If you can find the user Garwynn or rwilco, I think either of them might. Or one of their pals. (check the RDF thread in general)

I'm on the same boat. Just bought another Note II and it's stuck in the Samsung logo. I've tried a couple of different stock ODIN tar files, and it fails after a few seconds. I've read in the AT&T Note II forum other users experiencing the same issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1927150
What did you do prior to it failing to boot?
And theres a full restore with PIT floating around in the [WIP] missing IMEI thread by t3project in dev that will wipe and repartition the entire device before restoring lj1 or ljc forget which build it includes

Try flashing this with odin http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390169635556426493 its a full restore that *should* get you booting as long as the former owner didnt bork the bootloader or install firmware from another variant

Thanks for all the suggestions, I did however get it to boot. I believe that something in my data that gets loaded early on just after the core boot got corruppted. This is because when I flashed the rooted odin tar which does not affect data the screen remained black directly after boot. However the full restore which wipes data, unfortunately including the internal sd card, it did successfully load. I then experimented by rerooting and restoring my data from the backup I made following the issue. This reaulted in the same issue and so I had to re odin. The wierdest thing though, is I did nothing to cause this issue, other than maybe a battery pull. My phone was on in class and I could not access the power button discretely enough, so I pulled yhe battery. Roughly 2hours later I reinserted the battery and powered the phone on. This is when the problem startrded.

I've tried many ODIN stock ROMs including that one you linked w/o using a PIT partition file. ODIN tells me "There is no PIT partition" and ODIN stops.
I tried this ODIN stock ROM w/ the PIT file: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35961891&postcount=179
ODIN tells me "Re-partition operation failed"
If it's a bootloader issue, can it still be fixed? How about if a ROM for a different Note II variant was used....can that still be fixed?
*** UPDATE ***
One other thing I noticed is that when I plug in the phone either to its charger or on the PC while the phone is off, I see the battery logo show up, but it doesn't update the battery status according to its current charge (it shows an empty battery even though I know it's full). In addition, when I remove the USB cable from the phone, the battery logo stays there. Only way to clear it out is to remove the battery and put the battery back in.
Thanks!

You may have to either have it Jtag'd to get it repaired or file an ins claim to get it replaced. Jtag would be cheaper but you'd be without thw device about a week, although since its not booting now I doubt that would be too much hassle to have it working when you get it back

That system status *may* cause problems although you could always try playing dumb since the binary count says no. Product name shouldn't be blank though so it appears the previous owner did in fact flash either something for the wrong device or a corrupted file that borked something.

In the AT&T thread, those who've tried to flash the stock N7100 bootloader via ODIN got the phone working again. I tried looking for the SPH-L900 bootloader, but I can't find it so far. Perhaps that's my last hope before trying to send it in for warranty repair.
Bootloader should be in a full restore. You will probably need to try an lj1 restore. I know for a fact ma5 includes bootloader but its not official so if it doesn't work you're stuck again. It may be worth a try anyways tho cuz if you can get it booting with ma5 you can then do the hoop jumps to downgrade the bootloader and firmware if you want, although most people seem to like ma5 alot and it fixes the exynos root exploit and is 4.1.2 and apparently google wallet works without much hassle

I looked at the SPH-L900_L900VPALJ1_L900VPALJ1_L900SPTALJ1.tar.md5 file. I see a boot.img. Do I simply delete all other files in the tar file and flash the SPH-L900_L900VPALJ1_L900VPALJ1_L900SPTALJ1.tar.md5 and put it in the "bootloader" section in ODIN to flash it?

Boot.img is the kernel not bootloader. Lemme see if I can scrounge up just a bootloader tar from somewhere. I know on a full restore like ma5 you'd just put the whole tar in pda and it will flash everything where it needs to go. I haven't tried flashing a bootloader onlh thru odin and I know putting things in the wrong slot = big trouble. You would really need to flash an AiO with bootloader, rom etc since we dont even know what if any rom is on there

And yes, I used the PIT file attached with the ODIN recovery I linked. That didn't work either. So right now it's looking like the only options I have:
1) Warranty claim
2) JTAG

Yea sounds like someone flashed incorrect firmware and borked the partitions up. I know the international variant I believe has its misc partition in the same place the sprint versions boot partition is and if you flash that its forked up good. (I might be thinking of s3 here, I'm maintaining so many devices its getting hard to keep them all straight) either way flashing firmware from another variant is never a good thing at the very minimum the modems are for entirely different hardware/frequencies, and at the worst the partitions are all different and screw up the emmc with no way to gain access to correct the failed partitions.

I bought this S4 on craigslist and I am and cant get it to completely boot.
It can go into download mode and appears to flash properly but never actually boots into Android. It is on 4.3. It makes it to the Samsung S4 logo but also doesnt boot into recovery.
I tried flashing with Odin and Kies.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Does anyone have a pit file for the M919?

Most likely you are trying to put the phone into recovery the wrong way.
Try this, remove the battery from the phone for 20 seconds and replace
the battery.
Press the Power and the Volume Up key at the same time until you
see tiny neon blue writing on the top left side of the phone's screen.
As soon as you see that let go of both of the phone's buttons and it should
go into recovery mode within 15-20 seconds or less.
You do NOT need to flash any PIT files.
The PIT file is the partition information tables used for partitioning the phone.
If you do find a PIT file and flash it your phone has a excellent chance to transform itself to a very nice shiny brick.
Good luck!

I appreciate the intent but that is the exact same reply word for word to the one that you posted in a similar thread that came up on google when I initially googled the topic.
I am aware of how to get into recovery and that is not the issue which is why I posted that I couldnt get into recovery. This is the second backup s4 not my main s4 which I can get to and from recovery, download, and regular boot and is rooted and unlocked.
I am aware of the purpose of a pit (this isnt the first unix based system I have encountered I run Linux as my daily OS (partitions/fstabs... are not unfamiliar) which is why I didnt ask what the purpose of a PIT file.
The JTAG guy I contacted already had suggested I reflash with a good pit file which is why I asked for the pit file.
I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas outside of the suggestion I already had.

If you go from the 4.3 bootloader to a previous one, you will brick your device via an e-fuse. You shouldn't need to revert to an older bootloader anyway unless for a specific rom. If that is the case, you are better off waiting until the developer catches up.

sorry I didn't ever encounter that in my adventures with the device. I have quickly discovered that there are too many issues with them and the flashing. I have had more problems and bricked states than I care to look at. I got the phone operating and gummy installed on it and left it at that.

Sudden Death AT&T GS3
Hi,
I have an AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3. I was running CM11 nightlies. It was working perfectly fine for all these days. Couple of days back it suddenly died. The phone hasn’t been switching on back since then. I tried putting it on full charge. Whenever I pull out the battery and reinsert it, it vibrates, The LED comes on and the Samsung screen comes on for a second and turn turns off again. I cannot access the recovery or download modes through the key combinations. I also tried going into download mode using a Jig. I have to remove the battery and reinsert it. The Jig did work and the phone did go into download mode but, only for a second and then turns off. I’m not sure what exactly the issue is.
I would be very grateful if you could help me find a solution.
Thanks.

once again not for your device but scroll down to stock firmwares and READ the whole guide. There is a kid that makes a video some where arround here as well. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2369125 you need a 16gb class 10 sdcard or larger as well for this
Disk Space Back
I had trouble getting my max disk space after I did the debrick trick. So i'm going to shoot a quick tip to get all your space back.
go to your windows start menu and in the search type diskpart and hit enter.
in the command line type "list disk" no quotations and enter.
You should see your hard drive and any other storage devices connected in you computer. Determine which one is the sd card.
Next in the command line hit select disk x. x represents your sdcard.
last is clean disk in command line and your sd card has all its space but you must reformat it how ever you choose.
I just used sd formater.
hope that helps some peeps if so hook a noob up with some thanks clicks. :good:

Can you help me with this? I copied my thread :3

*I bought this off a friend of mine.*
All he told me was that he tried installing a rom and he thinks that he installed a rom for a different model S3.
What Happens/What I Did?
1. I tried to plug it into the computer and the computer doesn't show that anything plugged in, the S3 doesn't turn on. NOTHING.
2. I connected the phone to the PC without the battery inside and the phone responds with one RED light at the top left of the phone. Nothing shows up on my computer still, not even that the phone was connected NOTHING.
3. I bought a JIG device and tried plugging it into my phone and it doesn't work. (I previously tested this JIG on another samsung device and it worked)
4. I tried doing the method to use a 16gb SD card and downloading an i747m debrick IMG and using Win32FlashTool to copy it to my SD Card. I tried with 2 different cards the first one was a 16gb SD card and the other was a 32gb SD card.
5. Through a lot of research I found a leaked way to unbrick the Samsung Galaxy S3 i9300 by shorting out the R313 chip, I'm sure you guys are all aware of this method. I opened my device and couldn't find the R313 chip. After further research I found that a user was able to locate the R313 chip on the i747m and he'd unbricked his phone with that method. If anyone can help me locate the i747m R313 chip it'd be GREATLY appreciated!
If anyone can help me out it would be great! I'm very experienced at soldering so if there's a method that requires me to solder I'm more than confident I can do it.
Thank you!! :good:

I am not an expert but I'm pretty sure you need the mjb2 but there are guides all over that point misleading information. I can post a link that I believe is helpful. And as always I take no credit just pointing a finger here.

I tried downloading files in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2788357 and attempted to flash both the modem and stock ROM using TWRP. The modem flashed successfully but the ROM failed, so I restored to a Nandroid backup I made on CM M6.
I immediately received a message telling me to insert my SIM card. Thinking this was a weird error, I tried to reboot into Recovery and restore again. Only this time my phone did nothing. It's not turning on when it's off and plugged into a power source, it's not turning on in Download mode, it's not booting into recovery, nothing.
I don't know how to fix this without resorting to a JTAG recovery method and was wondering if anyone might have any ideas on how to help me since I don't feel like taking this thing apart.
I know this may be a long shot, but I've seen it work numerous times. Have you tried removing the battery and leaving it out for a longer time than a few minutes? Worth a shot while waiting for more pro user answers.
Do you have access to a USB jig? I'm not sure that it will work in your case but it's cheaper than using a jtag service.
mine just bricked for the same reason. same symptoms and everything... ugh

The thread posted by Enewman does contain a 4.4. debrick image for the i747. Have you tried writing this image to a (micro) SD card and booting from the card? If this works, you could try firmware restoration after booting from the card. If it doesn't work, then you could try the 4.3 debrick image from the link below. With luck, this could still work since the firmware flashing failed...

If you get a sign of life outta your phone, it's "soft-brick". Otherwise, no sign of life (at all) = "hard-bricked" and a jtag is needed to push the bootloaders back into it.
A jig quite often boots the device in download mode even when people think they hard-bricked (often a miss-interpretation). And if there's a sign of life, it's easily recoverable!
As for turning on while bricked, you need intact bootloaders to boot from.
FYI
Flashing the 4.4.2 modem on 4.3 firmware will hard brick the device. To check for sure, plug into a pc and check in device manager. If it says QHSUSB_DLOAD, you are hard bricked. The debrick.img is posted in enewman's thread, but if you guys need the other firmware files for the 2 sdcard method let me know and ill post them for you.
Ive also posted a script in the debrick thread someone can flash to create a new debrick.img in case the current one doesn't work, and if any I747M users want to be proactive and create one for each of their variants.

Thanks for your reply. I was able to flash the modem and update from enewman's thread last night and it booted up once but had no cellular so I turned it off and it was hard bricked
I have DL'd the debrick file an put it on a 16BG card but it will not boot at all, I have tried many times.
Is there anything else that I can do? / If by some chance I get it into DL mode what would my next step be?
I know that the system is on 4.4.2 since I saw it booted up so I don't want to flash 4.3 on it.
Thanks
Ill be posting more info in the debrick thread shortly. Make sure you check there. Also post there for anything else you need while trying to fix this. That way everything is in one thread and it makes it a lot easier for others to assist you.
Day before yesterday, I tried to go back to stock. Must not have had the right ROM or something. Long story short, phone doesn't turn on. Computer will make a noise letting me know that it has been plugged in though. Under device manager it comes up as...
Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM7)
So, hard bricked? Tried pulling the battery and everything else. So I guess, can anyone point me to a guide or explain here step by step what I need to do? I did some searching and found various guides, all of which seemed to differ. Looking for a good solid answer. I have a Jig on the way but not sure whether or not it will work.
THANKS ALL

What was your phone on prior to attempting to flash stock (bootloaders, ROM)?
Also, what did you try to flash?

He posted more info about this here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=54466247
As I pointed out there, even though I've never seen it show Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader, it does match what we do often see as QHSUSB_DLOAD.
@nbar7655, you also confirmed the red led in your last post, so yes it is bricked, and as suggested you're only option is to try the debrick method. If that doesn't work, the only other option is a jtag service. The jig, while good to have, will not help in this particular situation.

Thank you. I did make this post just because I felt that it should have a post of it's own and I shouldn't sit on someone else' thread for too long haha.
So, my only option is through the debrick img, correct? Any ideas where I can grab one. I believe I know the steps to doing it. (Throwing it on an SD card) but I seem to find different debrick files all over the place. THANKS!
I agree about not hijacking that firmware thread for this, so no big deal.
This is the thread I was referring you to:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47984104
It gets confusing because everyone creates a new thread for every brick just about. But since yours happened while on 4.3, try using the debrick.img provided in the OP.
If it doesn't work, don't give up. Many people have had to make several attempts before it would work. It may seem a lot, but id try at least 6 or 7 times before giving up on that image and looking for another.
OK and just to double check, all I have to do is write the image to the sdcard, pop the SD card into my phone and then (attempt) to power it on?
UPDATE: OH MY GOD! Got it into recovery!!! Where do I go from here? Lmao
UPDAT2: Ok, so I can boot into what looks like stock mode but I am sure that I am only booting from the SD card. So at this point, do I run odin and flash a stock ROM?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using XDA Free mobile app
Im assuming you used the 4.3 debrick.img correct? And is it booting into stock or a custom recovery?
Either way, try to reboot download mode and Odin flash the MJB firmware. (Don't forget to take out the sd card first). Hopefully, after the flash completes it'll reboot right into the OS. You were on aosp before, right? You may need to factory reset to get it to boot all the way.

Where can I find that firmware?
My bad, I am assuming from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2540998
If so, what exactly am I grabbing from that?
Also, any files that I grab from there...ODIN doesn't see them because they aren't the correct file types? Maybe I am not grabbing the correct ones?
Well, the firmware I had in mind is the same that is in the thread you first posted in. Try redownloading it and flashing again. Ill try to find an alternative if you prefer though.
I know there is a method where you first flash recovery with odin, then flash the firmware from recovery. Id have to locate the files needed though. (The thread you linked to may have exactly that though. I will look closer in just a bit)
Ok, if you want to try another way, go to this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52341560
Download the one that says to flash with custom recovery.
Now, using Odin, flash TWRP or CWM recovery.
Now reboot to that recovery and flash the package you just downloaded.
Factory reset.
Reboot.
If it tries to boot, but hangs or goes straight to recovery, download the other package from that post and flash it in Odin. Then try to reboot again.
Basically, if you follow the instructions in thst post from start to finish, you should be able to boot up to stock 4.3. If you do not flash the last part in Odin (if you stop after the recovery flash), hopefully your device will be able to boot into whatever you last were running. It would probably be best to go back to full stock though.
Good Luck!

I got an error (status 7)?
Update: Got it installed. Problem was that I had it stored on the SD card instead of the phone storage.
Update2: Currently sitting at the white screen with the AT&T logo. Will see if it gets past this in a few minutes. If not, I'll reboot into recovery and flash the stock ROM.
Update3: BOOTED IN!
Update4: Going to try to now boot without the SD card to make sure it isn't still booting from that!
Update5: SUCCESS! I can now boot from the system itself!!!!! ALL SEEMS GOOD!
