Unlock bootloader or Custom Recovery VK810 - G Pad 8.3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys just wondering is there anything in the works for the verizon lg g pad as per bootloader unlock or custom recovery as i really wanna get this g pad off stock it really sucks lol we have root for it via kingo but thats it . Thanks in advanced for any answers and btw I am a Verizon Rep who knows his stuff so yea i know things...and stuff lol
I apologize Mods as this was put into General by accident

You're on the vk810, and you have root? I didn't want to root mine b/c I read somewhere someone used Kingo app for root on the vk810, and they ended up with a blue line down the middle of the screen. Curious. I'm a Verizon rep as well, haha.

We have root and recovery for the VK810. Now all we need are ROMs. I will gladly work with someone to get CM11 or Mahdi ported by testing ROMs and sending any files or reports.

Non rooted s3 Google wallet

Hey guys my girlfriend has a tmo s3 and as I'm sure you know they are blocking the Google wallet app. Is there a way to get it to work without root? Thanks guys.

Easiest way is changing the build prop. You need root explorer for that. Why not just root?

She is scared of root.. She seems to think once the phone e it rooted that the phone might sell all her secrets to the government and then the phone would explode.. ..
I am going to scan the rooting thread... I have the EVO lte (something I regret still) so I have no idea how to root a s3.. If it's as easy as my old epic 4G was ill just root her phone and never tell her lol

Lol that's funny. But maybe you can root and hide the super user app. There is no way of doing it without root as the two files need to be flashed through custom recovery and editing the build file needs to be edited at root level

That thread contains the official firmwares pre-rooted that are flashable using odin. Just follow the instructions.
IMO, tell her it's rooted and explain to her what that means. It would kind of suck if she did run into issues and found out and got mad / screwed something up because she didn't know what it meant / freaked out / created an actual security issue due to lack of information / et cetera.

Discuss Optimus G Pro???

I was wondering where we should be discussing the Optimus G Pro? I was hoping for something on launch day, but alas nothing.

Why so slow on this phone?? usually other high end phones have their own forum before the phone even gets released

I cant wait for some development on this awesome new phone, I love it.
I've asked some mod to make a section, he answered that has put it on the pending list for other mods to oversee. Me think we must create a topic in http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=240 section for our demand to be seen faster
They say if you bring to AT&T your old phone and buy G Pro with contract they'll sell it for only $100 instead of $200
Rooted G Pro
I was able to root my AT&T G pro using the same method for the Optimus G. Although I haven't been able to unlock the bootloader through FreeGee yet.

After you root you can install the ClockWorks Mod recovery from an apk app from the international version at the following link;
http://optimusforums.com/threads/optimus-g-pro-how-to-get-clockworkmod-cwm-and-make-a-backup.7666/
I installed it and did a backup already
I assume there will be more like "TWRP" for our phone in the near future
Stll waiting for bootloader unlock, uploaded image to Freegee.
Thanks again for the root info. I can confirm it is working for me as well as the Xposed framework. I've been playing around with the dpi settings and I can't believe how sharp everything is even after lowing down the dpi. One thing I don't like about the screen is that I have some light bleeding near the edge of the display. Nothing major but just a little annoying when the screen is showing a black image.
I can confirm as well that the Optimus G root method worked without any problems on my OG Pro.

I am considering jumping from the Samsung Galaxy Note to the Optimus G Pro and have been looking for the forums myself. Wanted to read what I could about the device before making the jump. I really want this device. See that Root is already confirmed to be working so that is a start. Don't need much else after that as I can figure it out from there.

ZVB is 4.1.2. If your phone updated to zvb then you were on zv9. And you should update to zvb before root and unlock.
1000's have used FreeGee and not had issues since zvb came out in March.
I just used FreeGee again yesterday to unlock ZVC, so it works just fine.
On phone now, but give me a minute and I'll post a couple links here.

[Q] Is LG G Pad 8.3 unbrickable?

chaos2oo2 said:
I have another question:
currently there are two ways to return from whatever back to stock rom:
Mentioned here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2543350
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2471370
This involves the LG Tool to restore the image from their servers. Does this mean the G Pad is virtually unbrakeable (unbrickable)? So that I always can do the Factory reset when I messed something up during root/flash? Or are there any chances I can do something that really brakes the G Pad and makes it unusable?
Kind regards,
Michael

Nothing is unbrickable, it all depends how badly you screw it up.
Check the v510 conversion thread for details, but nobody will tell you universally a device is unbrickable, and if they do, they are liars.
All devices are brickable if you really screw things up. But most devices are really hard not to save. Normally you have to do something major like flash something not meant for the device. I know of a member in this forum who bricked his V500 and has yet to recover. Doesn't mean he wont just means it will be hard to. Just read carefully and follow the instructions and you will be fine
Sorry @Sean09 didn't mean to say the exact same thing in my first line . One of those times you post before you read everything.
It is unbrickable. Even if you have messed with the rom and the recovery the lg mobile support tool can flash the stock recovery and rom as long as you can enter into download mode though. Now if things get worse you can send it to lg and they ll unbrick it for sure with a jigkick battery or something like that, but you may have to pay as it may not be covered by the warranty.
If you physically damage the hardware, you'll probably end up with a brick. However, LG devices are very recoverable. Wkparks tool for the O3D put severe bricks into download mode and allowed you to reflash a ROM.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
I like to think that anything can be bricked. Recently I totally bricked my BIOS for example and those things are extremely hard to fix so the same thing goes for mobile platforms. Anything is brickable and that is where you shouud put the line on, however with the community help that we have today a lot of problems can be solved by others like for example here on xda!

Help Finding A Root For The LG G3 Vigor

So, it seems that a few people around XDA have the G3 Vigor, such as myself. But the issue is, none of the root methods currently support this device. That being said, I'd like to know how to go about possibly finding an exploit(if need be) and using it to root this thing. I've searched plenty, but haven't found a good solid place to start. I'm not afraid to Mrs with some code, and any help would be greatly appreciated.
Found the exploit
So, I know where I need to attack to get root access. But I'm still unsure of how to go about doing it. Any ideas?

No root access yet. Been watching the Stump Root method to see if they add this phone and no updates yet. I just got this phone although is a slightly different version of the LG 3, looks like it has a different way to access root. Let's wait and see if anything pops up soon. If you found a way to exploit it, let the dev of the Stump Root method know.
