I received the OTA ZVC update last week and was currently rooted and had TWRP installed at the time. I reflashed the stock rom using the LG Flash tool and went through three updates to eventually wind up at Kitkat, when I was using the stock ZVA rom I was able to use IORoot 25 to root my phone and then use FreeGee to install TWRP later on. Now that I'm on ZVC Official I can still use IORoot25 to root my phone but can not seem to get a custom recovery to stick, anybody else figure this out?
You need a downgraded aboot and kernel.

There's a new method to install twrp without breaking download mode , once you're on ZVC rooted with ioroot25, download the new app by @Cloudyfa http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=51857807 which would install twrp and you will still be able to use download mode if you have to!

Also, you can just flash the ZVC TOT. You don't need to flash an old TOT and work your way to current. I was on ZV7 rooted and went straight to ZVC TOT.

I just did what IORoot25 and the AutoRec. I'm with sprint and just got the phone. What can I do with this KK release? Can I install camera update or try out kernels? There seems to be no roms for this ZVC update.
So, I do I determine which kernel is patched to work with ZVC? since AutoRec is patched, there must be other patched Kernels out there. Just a noob right now.

KitKat just came out, developers are hard at work breaking things down so it is safe to flash. Lg did some things making it tougher and a lot of internal changes.
Kernel, only other available is furnace 2.0.

Does anyone know what to do once download mode is broken? I have progressed between the "stuck in recovery mode" problem, then the fastboot only problem, and now while getting download mode to actually show on screen instead of fastboot i have broken my download mode with fastboot-ing zvc files to the phone. Any ideas on getting this back in a programmable state? I'm on a windows 8.1 x64 machine.

Try the auto-rec for your model here on post 1,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2715496
I'm on Sprint ls980, and no issues. This will fix boot, kernel, recovery, and download mode.
If you get white lines, us the fix @Cloudyfa has posted to get back. This puts you back to how it was before the program. No recovery and locked boot and stock kernel.

All I want to do is install TWRP on KK 4.4.2 STOCK ROOTED G2 Sprint..........to test the cool camera mods out there.
How do I do this?
Is there an easy way ?.........or one not requiring Loki_flash (because that file is missing from the source site.
I tried finding a stock-based KK rom for sprint but there seems to be only a JB stock rom......while I have TWRP 2.7 on stock JB rooted.
What is the best or easiest way that would work?
Thanks for any info.

Use this program auto-rec.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2715496
This will downgrade aboot, flash recovery, flash kernel, fix laf partition.
Which makes it available to tot back if there is an issue by fixing download mode

Thanks for the replies....will try these methods
Hot of the TMO Cell Tower OTA 10r for D851.
D85110m_00-D85110r_00_update.zip 231MB
I'm guessing this isn't Android 5 (Not big enough).
Can one of you see what this is before I flash it on my rooted G3?
SR Remix ROM for the D851 is based on 10R so in a way we got it.
I know you can't take an OTA if one is rooted. You might lose your recovery. The other guys will know.

you can download the update but you cant install it cause you need the original files to match.......so worrying about the recovery image doesnt really matter. He wont get that far
any help rooting 10r version?
I was on rooted stock, then this update came in... Without thinking, I said install. It got as far as rebooting into TWRP and stopped. From then on, If I hit reboot, It would only go to recovery. Even if I flashed another rom.
Had to go through ADB and wipe the update folders.
So I suggest if you're rooted, dont install the OTA lol
But, I did use the above recovery safe rom, then re-rooted and re installed TWRP and was up and running again.
Hi I need help. I recently got this phone.
Rooted it with stump root, and flashed TWRP 2.8.4 using flashify.
I tried to flash a custom rom, but the wiping data part had an error. Stupidly enough, I proceeded to flash the rom zip and it got stuck flashing so I had to power it off. Now my phone is stuck on the boot logo. The only thing I can do with it is turn it off, or enter download mode. But I can't enter recovery mode. I read somewhere that it is possible to go back to stock recovery using the flashtool. Problem is I don't know which firmware I have. The only information I had about the firmware was that it was ls980vze because that's what I saw when I was flashing something. How do I deal with this? :crying:
p/s if there's a way that I can access twrp, maybe that' would work because I made a nandroid backup before. Don't know if that's useful though.

Okay, quick and easy.
There is a zve tot, though before we do much. Custom ROM as in which one?
Anything CM based is radio zv8, if it is a cloudyfa ROM; you can be zva to zve radio.
So depending on which can save trouble.
Root, depends on which version you are. Zv8 - go with ioroot25. Zve - use stump root.
Next thing, forget flashify. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Tried and true method, Auto-rec. Only after root.
Upgrade TWRP through TWRP by gator's zip of bumped and such. Or use TWRP app.
Again if your zv8, flash your CM based ROM of choice.
Zva-zve, flash your stock based like cloudyfa's Roms and such.

I tried to flash Validus ROM so i'm guessing that's zv8? I am rooted btw. Wait so you can upgrade twrp by flashing another twrp file? When I used flashify, after flashing the 2.8.4 bumped twrp it rebooted to my current twrp 2.7.0 and flashed it so I thought it was just the same. I'm pretty sure I am zve. Can I flash a zv8 rom if I have a zve rom? How do I get out from the bootloop?

Basically you're stuck using the ZVE tot to bring it back to factory. Be sure to boot it at least once as the phone will have to re-activate itself.
Try the zv8 modem
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451426
And if not, then try you and always check the op carefully before flashing.
So my gf has a G3 d851 white version.
Was gonna do the lp update for her, but of course lg screwed up the mobile tool and it only works on the black version. Unbelievable...
The OTA file is out, but this is the first phone I've used that doesn't seem to have a normal stock recovery?
I can't just flash the update.zip 100% stock can I?
Do I have to have a custom recovery? And is root needed to install twrp?
So let's say I do have to root it, and install twrp... After I flash the update.zip in twrp will root be lost? And will the stock recovery be put back or would it still be twrp?
Reason I'm asking is, have to keep phone 100% stock. I've always done otas manually, just weird on this phone...
I have a G3 d851 too but I rooted mine and go crazy with roms.
So yeah how the hell do I go about flashing update.zip on stock?

1) you definitely need recovery
2) I don't know if you need root, but I'm sure you can find out if you read the stickies.
The OTA is gonna be out in a few days. Just way till then. ☺
my concern is the r update ota bricked me last time and i had to unbrick. hate to say it but ill wait till someone on here makes a flashable zip of it.
I skipped that whole.method and flashed via the kdz. Finished in under 10 minutes. Super easy and didn't have to root or use custom recovery.

I also did the lollipop kdz install and then rooted the phone with the new one click mod. Very fast and easy. Now running very smooth and without any problems
Hi. I have an AT&T LG Gpad 7 that I downgraded to 4.4 to root using a thread from XDA and then tried out Candyrom and CM12 and CM13.
I need to return this device to stock condition.
I followed another thread contained within XDA but no matter what I do, I cannot use OTA to get back to stock lollipop.
Here is what I did:
Installed stock test KDZ using LG Flash Tool2014
Rooted via one click
Fixed partition size
Installed flashily
Installed TWRP via flashily
Installed stock 4.4 rooted rom from XDA
Flashed stock recovery from XDA
When I did this. I still have the white line distortion and OTA updates do not work. Any ideas? I wish I could just get the real KDZ for the AT&T V410 LTE 16gb!
