Screen Does Not Light Up......Black - Nexus 7 (2013) Accessories

Hey guys,
For whatever reason my Nexus 7 screen, doesn't "light up". Meaning it looks the same as if it was turned off.
I know its on when the LED light is flash. I opened it up and didn't see the battery cable unplugged, I unplugged and plugged it back. Still nothing.
I really don't want to buy a new one, and want to fix it.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advanced.

Does your led flash when you try to power it up when charging? If so it means your battery is too dead to power up. Leave it plugged in for an hour or so.

[Q] Galaxy Nexus first charge - not sure if it's charging?

Have just received new Galaxy Nexus and plugged it into the charger. The screen showed a battery icon with a lightning bolt for a few seconds, then it changed to a battery icon filling up for 5 seconds, then it disappeared. If I unplug and plug it back in the same thing happens. I've left it for over 2 hours now and there's nothing on the screen still, and no LED's lit up anywhere. Is it charging?
I don't want to turn it on in case this will affect the first charge. Can anyone tell me if it is actually charging?
(Yes this is a question, but where is the Q&A forum for Galaxy Nexus?)
Update: Now if I unplug and plug back in I see what looks like a full battery icon, but it disappears after a few seconds...

Yeah it's charging. If you tap the power button briefly, an animated battery icon will show it charging on the screen.
I too find it very odd that the notification LED doesn't give any visual feedback of whether it's charging or not. In fact, I noticed this morning that the LED doesn't seem to work at all when it's on charge - you have to turn on the screen to see if you have any messages.
Phew! Thanks for that, I pressed the power button and yes the icon is displayed, looking full. But I think I will leave it for a while longer until I turn it on for the first time...
The LED at the bottom is only for notifications, not for battery status. The Nexus One had 2 LEDs, one in the screen and one in the trackball. Only the small screen one lit up for batter charging/charged/low. This is because that small LED was hard wired to the motherboard, so it displayed even when the device was off and charging.

Got mine delivered today.
It's not charging at all.
Battery icon changes to show it's charging, but clicking on the battery settings says it's discharging, in fact in ran out of juice while i had it plugged in !!!
I know it's not the charger or the battery as these have been tested on another galaxy nexus without issue.
Anyone any thoughts, I'm assuming it's a phone hardware problem, not a software problem.
Thanks.

Do you have another microUSB charger to try it with?

The same with my device .
Now battery is fully discharged and turns only for 2 sec with connected charger.
Charger itself is ok (charges another i9000).
Tried to connect PC USB - was synchronized perfectly while battery was ok but not charged.
How did you solve a problem??
I too seemingly have got this problem on the phone I got today...
EDIT
contacted Amazon, claimed they had heard of the problem and replaced it same day, it's gone back for inspection.
I exchanged my phone due to screen issues. Now i have my new phone, screen is good but it wont charge. I used both Verizon's car charger and home charger provided by Samsung (original that came with the box). When i plug in it will say "not charging" and when unplugged it says "discharging". When plugged it i do have the battery with thunderbolt symbol. I tried turning off the phone and removing battery and re-inserting it and plugged in again, same issue.

[Q] Cannot charge and Battery dead

Ok, so I do not know what happened, but now, my battery is very low. I have TWRP installed, so whenever I plug or unplug from my stock Fire charger, or press the power button, it will display "Charging low battery, please wait", and the indicator button turns green, and powers off. When I try the method showed here, it will turn dark orange for a few seconds, then when TWRP starts, it is replaced with green then turns off.
I would really appreciate any help!

So, it is fine even if the charging light does not come on?

Yes. In fact, if you get your kindle working, when you charge it, see how much the battery increases in 30 min. Then, do it again with it off. My battery was charging 10% in 30 min, and when its off its charging 19%.

Ok, I tried that, however it does not work. The light will turn on when I plug it in, and when I hold it down for 20 seconds. I will try again with a different cable, but are there any other suggestions?
Wow, I cannot believe this! Someone did something to my kindle, and now it was working! Of course, you helped greatly, Josepho!
Somewhat related question, does the KF charge while in recovery? TWRP 2.0 specifically. In my experience with phones charging doesn't happen while in recovery, at least in CWM recovery.
EDIT: seems to be charging in recovery.
Yes, it should.

Help! Phone won't boot up at all

So, I woke up this morning and I went to go check some messages on my phone, but when I checked, the phone wouldn't turn on. I charged it like I usually did and when I got to it, the blue led light was flashing. Not brightly, but just like it would try to turn on, but it can't so the light slowly fades away. I tried to hold the power + volume buttons (both up and down) but it still wouldn't do anything. Any help before I take it into sprint?

can you charge the battery? is the battery loose? I would take it to sprint and let them check it out.
Yeah. I think I might just take it back to sprint. But it won't charge at all I think.
Pull the battery and leave it out for a few minutes then try again.

I've done that and I actually start seeing the empty battery logo. But It's only for a second. I think there's a problem with the battery or the charger thing

Okay, My phone actually started up now. The battery is not charging though
Just kidding. It's charging. Anyone know if I should be worried about anything?
Are you using an after market charger?

Get a brand new quality USB cable. A HUGE amount of issues can be resolved by just doint this, believe me.
I was using the charger cable it came with but connected to my computer
well your computer USB port can only push 500mA out max. sounds like its undercharging your phone. the stock charger pushes 1000mA or 1A.

Dead Phone - RED LED OF DEATH

Flashed Lifeless last night. Everything was working fine, left the phone charging at 10% then today I wake up to a dead phone. Wont charge, wont boot. Only sign of life is holding the power button down for like 20 sec and the battery LED will turn on for like 20 sec but only if its plugged in. What gives? Anyone have any idea what might be going on?
Plug into a 2 amp charger or do a battery pull.

Same thing has happened to me! I have done a battery pull as well with no avail. I am using a 1.2 A charger, the one that came with my phone and still nothing. I can get the red light as well but nothing else. I have pronounced the Phone as DEAD and have already bought a new phone(funds are tight so it was a was crappy situation). If ANYONE has a real working solution to this PLEASE tell us!(I'd greatly appreciate it)

You held the power button for 10 seconds? Try going to recovery or bootloader or download mode

Similar situation
I'm on stock but had the same problem. Phone totally discharged, plugged it into my car charger, phone got hot by camera but did not charge. Got home plugged it into stock charger, same thing. Battery charging on screen, phone hot, then dim light on screen. tried for a day or so, no luck.
Tried holding power button for 20-30 seconds, nothing, Vol up and down + power, nothing. By accident held power and vol up and charging light came on, held it for a minute, and it stayed on, let go, out it went. As a last resort, put two rubber bands around the phone to hold in power and Vol up and bingo! Charging light stayed on! left it overnight and found the phone completely charged in the AM, green light flashing. Been working fine for days, Willnot let it get too low of a charge in the future.

[Q] Phone Boots when battery is connected then goes black.

First thing is first, I have been searching here and Google and have not found this exact problem.
I am running cm-11-20140719-NIGHTLY currently
Today my phone turned off on its own while connected to a car charger.
Here is what it is doing.
When the battery is connected the phone turns on and gets to the Samsung logo, then it goes black. No back light, nothing. If I pull the battery and re-insert it, it happens again. Once it goes black none of the buttons seem to be responsive (cannot force a reboot by holding the power button). Once it goes black if I connect it to a charger I get no LED indicating charge level.
If I try to boot into recovery I see the blue text and then it goes black.
If I try to boot into download mode I can get to the triangle screen if I am fast and then it goes black.
If I have a data USB cable connected and I connect the battery the phone does nothing, and will not respond to the power button, again no LED light indicating charge level.
If I have a charge only cable (wall outlet) connected and I connect the battery I see the battery charge icon for about 1 second and then the screen goes black. and the phone will not respond to any buttons.
I have duplicated all these things with 2 batteries both actual Samsung batteries, neither of the batteries is bubbled out at all.
I have tried leaving the battery out for several hours, but this did not help.
I have data on this phone that was not backed up so any suggestions I will try.
Thanks

Return to stock with Odin to see if the problem goes away. If not, report back and we will go from there.

I would if I could get it into download mode... The screen will not stay on for more than 5 seconds and ODIN never sees the phone.
Here's a thread talking about that issue. I'm afraid it sounds like your display is dead:

I had this problem before and I was freaking out, but it was just the cord I used when trying to connect it, but yours sounds like an overload problem, maybe from your car charger if it plugs into the car lighter socket. My buddy has a super recharger that hooks into his lighter socket, and while it may charge fast, it might have jolted your phone, or maybe you had it over clocked in your rom? Or was it a recent occurrence or did it happen as soon as you installed the rom? Because this happens on a bad flash sometimes, if your Wi-Fi connection is shaky or far off, you could get a bad download and it will royally harm your time having to mess with it.

I had flashed the night before and it ran fine all night and all morning, then it just shut down. The car charger I use is not a super charger, but it is also not a Samsung charger. I was not overclocked and my wifi is not shaky usually.
Seems like I am screwed either way.

This blows, I just had the Same Exact thing happen last night, word for word.
Although I'm on a stock Rom that's rooted.
Phone was in my pocket and it vibrated as it restarted on its own. Pulled it out of my pocket, waited for it to fully start up, then I could use it.
However, it rebooted 2 minutes later and has Never come back yet.
I wish there was some sure fire way to verify if its the screen that went bad or the logic board. The mere fact the screen shows the Galaxy S4 logo, or Download Mode for a few seconds before shutting off seems weird if the screen was in fact bad.... =(

You were correct! Had to mess with that button a bit to get to work properly, but its still an issue. One to many power button presses and the issue returns.
I have tested the phone without the exterior power button only using the logic board button and it did that same thing. Am I correct to assume that the fault is the actual button on the logic board? So new logic board to fix this? =(
Why so many presses of the power button?
