It will only work if your cell company uses the same 3g band the phone is designed for. If not then it will never work and you will only get edge

Just trying to understand if you've done the Troubleshooting right.
1- Is 3G Enabled in Settings? (Network Type Selection -> WCDMA Preffered)
2- Is Mobile Data Enabled?
3- Does your network support 3G?
4- How do you know 3G isn't working? Is the phone showing "G" in the status bar next to Signal Strength or is it showing an "H" or "3G". "H", by the way, is better than 3G.
HI GUYS NEED YOUR HELP.

Thanks for the reply , but it is still set internally to WCDMA Prefered , sure it take 3G , but this is not pure 3G Only [ WCDMA Only ]
it seems this setting is blocked by huawei
I use this app to change it [ set preferred network type ] : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ru426.android.lte_settingforgx&hl=en

maaan of course with some app this phone doesn't support LTE it support HSPA
It will never go to 2G unless u loose 3g signal .. don't worry don't be confused about this options .. they are not different and no pure .. it is always same .. when u see H or H+ it means u are using internet network .. when u stop using internet it shows 3G that means H is in stand by .. 3G is like for phoning mode .. once u start using internet or email or only start messing with phone it will auto start H or H+
dont worry it is pure

This is the main reason , I want to lock it to 3G Only

I have always used that setting in all my phones , this is the first one with that option disabled :crying:
Gonna keep looking for a solution , I'll post if I found something useful , taking a look @ build.prop to add the missing network setting

You can lock to 3g by choosing your providers 3g network manually from the network list.

I did, from my service provider, but when you look inside it is still WCDMA prefered, not WCDMA Only
I get bad speeds with WCDMA prefered

jesus christ man . u wont get better speed when u choose only .. OMG , u have it wrongly imagined, explained.. completely
there is no difference with speed AT ALL if u choose those your options ..
for first ; if u in certain area with highest 3G signal which is WCDMA (H+) u will get those speeds same it doesnt matter if u have preffered or only.. only means it wont auto upgrade or downgrade signal..! It all depends of area which u within .. if u loose that signal your phone starts look for different signal 3g and if even that is not available then your phone will pick 2g ..
I would also like the option for WCDMA only.

I don't want it because of data speeds per se. T-mobile sometimes has EDGE at a higher power than WCDMA, so it can be helpful to lock it to WCDMA.
Edit: T-mobile USA

What definitely not ! EDGE is 2G class no chance it drains more power ! 3G uses obviously higher bandwidth

If you download "Battery monitor widget" (free version), open it, select TESTS, then network, scroll down a bit and you will see a selection box where you have every network option that the phone can offer. I use this on my Galaxy S4 to force the phone to use 2G only (GSM) to save battery as the option was disabled in the normal phone settings. :good:

Yeah I dont like these crap apps .. itis not good I like to set it manually ..
Obviously you dont agrre that app to switch to 2G .. that is very slow internet..
And thing is I use 3 UK mobile network and they dont broadcast 2G just 3G ..
So if I select 2G only in options I obviously loose signal ..
So I dont mind.. I will have still 3G/WCDMA connected..

I'm not talking about power drain, I'm talking about broadcast power. T-Mobile USA have a very strong 2G network that the phone will sometimes select in lieu of the faster WCDMA network. That's why this setting can be useful, and why it's included in just about every Android based phone.

Exactly, that is my point
I dont care that much about the drain , but I know I will have less if I lock it to wcdma only , cause it will stop searching and switching between networks.
This is my case with my carrier, 3G all the way.

it is happened to users who using wcdma or other non-cdma users.
Go to Settings -> Network -> choose CDMA subscription -> check RUIM
then open dialer, type *#*#4636#*#*,phone information, choose Select prefered network type to WCDMA prefered, reboot
now you should get signal on your phone,if not, check if network type is LTE,then switch it to 3G or 2G,then it should have signal now.
press the thanks button if that helps you

Hi
It seems I got the issue resloved by running into another issue. First of all there is no such settings in my menu and second off all all the codes I try and when I press the last corrector the whole code disappears and nothing happens.Even *#06#
doesnot work
Also there seems to be a signal dropping issue. btw I am using F180L which is similar to E975
Also Thanx so much for trying

I purchased my phone (h815 US model) online from swappa and I love the feel and look of the phone, Love the camera, BUT my phone wants to stay on hspa all the time. Where i had 3 or 4 bars on my s5 active I get HSPA unless I go in to settings and sellect ATT:LTE from network operators which only last until my phone goes to sleep then im back on hspa. Anyone else experiencing this? Or anything i should try? Thanks in advance for any help!

Maybe with hidden menu access via dialer, you can permanently enabled it...I don't know the actual code that might work for your device..but you can find it through here..In general threads maybe
I had to set the proper APNs on my H815, additionally I had to tell it to use GSM/WCDMA/LTE Auto under Network Mode in the Mobile Networks settings.

After that, it's been using LTE where available.

Thank you @Daptonic . I was attempting to use the "ATT nxtgenphone" APN because it works better on ATT devices but I guess the ATT Phone APN is needed for non ATT devices. Rebooted phone and it went straight to 4g. Thanks for responding.
Edit: dammit, it went back to hspa again......
