Has anyone been able to get LTE working on USA GSM carriers? Just wondering because I'm able to get H+ but I have not been able to get LTE. With the same APN on my Nexus 5 there is a consistent LTE signal in my house so I know its not the area or towers.

Sprint LTE bands aren't compatible with other US Carriers.

abhinav.tella is correct. Look under LTE band support... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LG_G2
.....but we are only talking sprint software doesn't support it, hardware should be perfectly capable of it correct? Maybe a piece of VS980 code could help here, I also have been looking into getting this working, any info anyone has would be helpful, thanks

Dude, do some research. Sprint does LTE on 850/1900/2600. That's not software but hardware. You won't get LTE on any GSM carrier using a Sprint G2.

Thanks for your very useful input, we understand what sprint LTE bands are already, most of us need to be on 1700. So, since it is a hardware issue not software, can you please enlighten us to which piece of hardware handles these LTE bands?
Also I don't see anywhere it says our hardware, the qualcomm snapdragon 800 is incapable of the 1700 LTE band, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snapdragon_(system_on_chip)#Snapdragon_800 , actually it is proven the hardware is very capable by the other carriers, such as T-mobile and Verizon! I love it when people say you can't or won't ever get something done, motivates me, thanks again :good:
I am thinking about trying to flash a VS980 modem.img, has anyone tried this, soft brick? I have a few different G2 variant builds and I am sure the answer is in one of them! I am wondering, if opening up and editing the original modem.img is possible?

Sweet, I would also like 4G data on my G2 and will try my damnedest to find a solution! I found something interesting in the modem.img of the
VS980, it has a couple more files in it than the LS980!
Mainly I see right away, Verizon includes these, MLSERVER.B00, MLSERVER.B01, MLSERVER.B02, MLSERVER.B03 and
MLSERVER.MDT, sprint does not? I also see Verizon has a couple more modem files, B00-B26 Verizon, B00-B24 Sprint, Verizon also has 1 more
ADSP.B than Sprint, other than these differences they look identical to each other?!

Add these files to.the sprint modem and flash it. See if that does the trick.
It will take some time to find the right files to grab and add, I am looking through the hex and seeing which ones match and which ones are different, I will keep you posted though, any help anyone can give into this would be greatly appreciated! (there are a ton of hex values)

I and others already mentioned that, but if they don't listen what can we do, let them learn the hard way.
Thanks for the info, best of luck on all your work!
FYI, soft bricks aren't a problem when you keep back ups handy, and just flashing the VS980,D800,D801 and the D805 modem.img's have caused nothing more than UI crashes, some random reboots and no network settings at all available, easily fixed with original modem.img, I would NEVER recommend doing anything I haven't put my own phone through first and having recovery in place, thanks though!

My wife and I are considering taking our tmobile phones over to AT&T. There both unlocked... Note 2 & sg3. Question I have is would I have to flash AT&T modems and roms to be able to fully utilize the new network? Just don't want to end up with bricks. AT&T already told me both devices unlocked will work fine on the network.
Wat I'm asking is if I can utilize the lte on the t-889 if I put it on AT&T? I found a bunch of threads with mixed responses.

Why's that? AT&T says I will be able to use lte since my area has it. If not I probably won't do this. As I've said I've read mixed responses. Could I flash AT&T radios to utilize it?
It will give you weak service because att and t mobile run on different bands which is hardware related not software

I dunno about that as many said everything works but LTE. I have also read a few that says they have LTE enabled. That's what's confusing. I may go to AT&T tomorrow and have them test a sim before I decide to switch. I assume if I change to AT&T apn ill get better 4g speed at least. The limitation your speaking to its a locked radio for the t-889 that prevents LTE from being enabled currently.
I can't quickly tell, but if it has LTE support on band 17 (700MHz) then it will work. It's a T-Mobile phone so it has support on band 4 which AT&T only uses for a very small part of its LTE network.
Like you said the radio it comes with might be locked to not allow LTE. If you can flash an AT&T radio without issue then you'd be able to see if it works.
If I were to guess I'd say it would have the right band since it's basically the same phone that AT&T sells.
Does it at least get hspa+ and 3G? I can wait for lte.

The AT&T rep you spoke to definitely isnt informed on the hardware issue.
If you are switching over you should just sell those two phones you have and just buy new ones since its new activation Im sure you can get a good price on the phones

From what I understand its not hardware, it's because of a radio limitation currently. Lte isn't enabled yet on the t-889. That's why I asked if I could flash a AT&T radio. As long as I get 4g and 3G ill switch. The whole point was to save $$ on buying new devices.

Well as long as I get 3G and decent hspa+ speeds ill be happy. I'll be getting the s4 anyways when it comes out. I don't have lte anyways with tmobile lol.
My area has the refarmed T-Mobile LTE but the device is AT&T. Correct modem but not tuned to use the refarmed frequencies. Anyone have any luck or know how to enable the device to use the T-Mobile LTE bands? Not quite as simple as going into the OS menu and setting "LTE/GSM/CDMA Preferred."
I assume you've already unlocked it. Are you getting H/H+ (HSPAP/HSDPA) right now?

Correct assumption I am getting H+, albeit speeds not as impressive as I might get on a full blown T-Mo device. But it works...
Are you sure you're using the correct APN settings as well.

Affirmative. I am wondering if the issue might have something to do with the fix that was discovered for the Note 2 relating to the QCN...
I guess you could try the same method. Back up your nvram before doing it though. And you'll need someone to donate their nvram from a t-mobile variant.. QPST/QXDM are pretty easy to use.
Hey guys! I'm trying to get my Verizon S4 working for my wife on T-Mobile! She got the LG G3 last night and because she's so tiny, it's like a tablet to her!
Anyways, the Verizon S4 is rooted and is still on original MDK firmware. With that said, I'm not too sure exactly which steps in your guide apply to our situation...not having safe strap and all.
With changing the APN settings to match up to my phone (LG G3 on T-Mobile), and inserting a T-Mobile 4G sim card, I'm able to get calls and SMS working over WiFi on the S4...that's it though. No mobile data seems to be coming through. Her mobile signal icon in the status bar keeps switching back n forth from E to H for some reason...but no LTE or 4G icon.
Anyways, is this something anyone thinks they could help with? Or do ya think we're screwed? My sweet wife would be eternally grateful if someone could help to make this happen!!
EDIT: haha, my signature will be changed if I'm able to get this working for her!
Aren't you missing something here? Verizon is CDMA, TMo is GSM. I don't see how you can get cell coverage to work unless the phone has dual antennas.

Many newer CDMA devices with LTE support have gsm radios as well, that includes sprint and Verizon..
To OP, you may have better luck searching the Verizon forums if nobody replies here
So my brother gave my his old Sprint Galaxy Note 5, which he had unlocked so that I could use it on AT&T. We had to set up the new APN to work with GSM instead of CDMA. The issue is that it cannot access 4G bands, just 3G. There are some other minor issues as well, such as location based services. I was looking into flashing AT&T firmware onto the phone, but cannot seem to find a way to do it online. I may not have scoured hard enough, or it may not be able to be done.
Would anyone be able to shed some light on this for me? I would prefer not to brick the phone by attempting something when I clearly do not have enough information about the subject. Could it just be an APN issue? Or will the phone just be stuck on a lower speed band? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
The modem will only be able to access the 3G network as AT&T uses different LTE bands then Sprint.
I just found that out a little earlier today. Forgot to delete this thread. Thank you for your reply though.

You might be able to force the network bands with an app. No promises.
Well crap, just got mine unlocked to do the same thing. Guess I'm better off selling it and getting the att version. Was hoping the N7 took off so people would dump their N5 but looks like people will be keeping it.

It does support the AT&T LTE bands, call AT&T and have them put in the IMEI into the system to allow LET access. Since it's a Sprint phone it's not in their system as a 4G/LTE device. I got mine working but seems it has a difficult time getting into LTM mode, I have the correct APN setup and 3G works fine.
Hi
i have a couple of questions here , how can i access USB settings on n910p
cyanogenmod rom 5.1.1
becuse i want to try this on it .
and i want to know is the phone hardware locked when it comes to the frequency it supports ?
becuse we have LTE B3 (1800) in my Country , and the phone supporte LTE band 2(1900), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 12(700), 17(700)
so i want to try and unlock the 4g service if it's possible.
Let me give you an insight about your query...
1. I'm too using an unlocked N910P with a GSM SIM like you where the 4G bands present in my country are not supported by this phone's hardware.
2. I've tried the post that you are referring to in the past but wasn't able to do anything because the software QSPT couldn't find my phone. Tried several times but with no success.
3. You can access USB Settings using Iodene Tools or Galaxy Tools. It has now become a paid software so the developer has removed it from XDA. (Search on XDA to find some threads related to it. You might get help from someone).
In short, it's almost next to impossible to unlock the bands as there's a high possibility that some tempering must have been done with the motherboard to unlock it, especially if the phone you got came with some Chinese firmware on it.
You can always try to check if it works for you or not.

Thank you for your explanations. I have something to ask.
I bought N910P. It was on Lollipop and 4G/LTE network was fine. But then I upgraded to Marshmallow via Odin. And now, there's only 3G with setting already to 4G/LTE. What is this problem related to?
Thanks.

See, the 4G icon that you witnessed after purchasing N910P was just a false indication. In reality, the network was 3G. Even when I got this phone, it was on Lollipop and it used to show 4G and the funny part was that I wasn't even using 4G then.
I've seen many users getting confused regarding this matter.
The only option available is that the network providers of your country start 4G services in the band that is supported in US (which again is highly u).
