Won't charge - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

My Note 101. was working fine a few days ago. Then yesterday I plugged it in to charge. Had it in for several hours and when I turned it on, the battery was almost dead. I figured maybe I didn't plug it in good enough. I plugged it in again and it will not charge. I've taken good care of it and haven't dropped it. Is it maybe just broke?

Ok I held the power button down for about 15 seconds and it cut on, showing the battery at about 35%. Maybe it was just so dead the tablet was completely off and not even showing charging icon. I think it's working normal.

I might have killed my Battery (FIXED...for now)

Hey Guys,
I am running the Cell Pro 9.5 ROM and since yesterday my phone doesnt turn on.
So this is what happened, I never got a chance to recharge my phone yesterday and so I used it to the very last bit of juice. The phone kept switching itself off with the critical level battery warning and I kept turning it back on. So it got to a point where it wasn't switching on at all. So I pluged in the phone to the computer to charge and left it there for approximately an hour (the orange charging light was on), came back and tried to switch the phone back on and it didnt respond at all. Took out the battery, tried the soft reset button etc and everything else I thought of with no luck. So I plugged it back on and suddently it turned back on, did the boot up, loaded the touchflo and I saw the battery level was at "0" and then suddenly it turned of with a "tuck" sound (similar to a PC when you hold down the power button or turn the power off without shutting down). This has been repeating since then, I have left it plugged in and every 5-10 minutes or so the phone switches on by itself and shows the boot screen, go all the way till HTC animation and powers off suddenly. I have had no luck in turning the phone back on, I dont what is causing the issue - wether its the battery or the phone.
Please give me your thoughts....I am completely lost without my phone...
- issue was that the phone kept restarting as soon as the battery stored enough charge for a reboot. I pulled out the battery at one of the restart cycle as advised below and stopped it from repeating it. After that the phone let the battery charge without a restart, did not mess with it for a long while.
Never let the battery drain all the way down to 0%. Not sure if it affects the battery, but it sure will give you enough hassle that you wont repeat it.

The same thing happened to me last night... but mine works now. what I thought it was is that it kept turning on as soon as it had enough battery to do so then it would die and repeat... So every time it would turn on
I would take the battery out and let it charge some more and then when it quit turning back on I left it overnight and now its on...

Ok....I will try that and report back....
Sorry you pull the battery then the cord then put the battery back in then cord. Also it will take a lot longer if you charge it on the computer.
Never mind mine quit working again...

I managed to get it charging after pulling out the battery and putting it back again. Charged it through a computer cause i dont have my charger with me.
I turned it on and the battery said 40% and now every second or so it is dropping by 1%. I can literally watch it dropping down sitting here. The phone doesnt want to charge when it is on. I plug in the usb and the LED turns orange and then turns off. Now the battery is at 25%, This is litterally in about a minute or less. I dont know whats wrong, is it the Battery?
I had this exact same thing happen to me twice on previous HTC hardware (wizard). The first time I couldn't save it and just had to buy a new battery. However, the second time it happened I was able to resurrect it once I got it plugged into a higher-current charging source, like the wall charger it came with, or even most car chargers (that's how I saved it when I couldn't get to my wall charger). I had to let it sit on there for about an hour before it held enough charge to stay on, and another 2 hours before it was fully charged, but it worked just fine after that.
You battery may indeed be toast from what you describe. I have had the experience of totally discharging the battery and the device not coming on at all. I recommend that if you do this, you should fully charge it using the wall charger NOT the computer (if the computer works at all. it didnt in my case). I have done this a few times now and the battery turned out fine each time.

Thanks.....
My issue seamed to be fixed. I had to rely on a computer as I didnt have access to my charger and by the time I did my phone was at approximately 65% charge. I plugged it in and charged it all the way to 100%. Replugged it and left it for a little more while to make sure it got charged completely. I have been using it since today morning 9am and now it is 2pm at 73% after couple of calls, messages and emails.
Few more charging cycles with the wall charger and I am hoping it will be back to normal.

[Q] Screen dims, won't respond

Having a strange problem. I've had my EVO since launch day, been running Tommy T's Classic .06 for weeks. A couple days ago I walked by my phone on the charger and the screen looked odd, it was very dimly lit and the charge light wasn't on any more. Unplugged it, LED was blinking that I had unread mail, so it wasn't completely dead or anything.
It had been on the charger since the previous day and I'd used it several times that morning to check e-mails, text, etc with no issue. I don't think the screen was on when it happened. I tried tapping the screen, the home button, then pressing the power button.
Pressing the power button made it light up a little brighter, then pressing it again made it dimmer but not go off.
Tried holding down the power button, nothing. Finally pulled the battery and turned it back on, worked fine.
Today, same thing happened. After a battery pull it's back to normal again. I haven't installed any new programs lately, no changes, and I'm running the stock kernel from the ROM. No task killers or anything like that. It's never done this until the past couple days.
Hoping it's not dying on me, anyone have any suggestions?
Are you on your original stock battery? Sounds like the voltage regulator in the battery maybe going bad and not letting the phone get the right amout of power or letting the phone know it is getting the power
We are legion, for we are many
Possibly still using the original, I have a couple others I can try. Would that affect it while it was on the charger and fully charged?
Yeah the voltage regulator does a few things, while charging it limits the input from wall to 3.7v or less so the battery doesnt burst while off charger it communicates between phone and battery to use more or less power while in use or idle etc, when it goes bad it fails to communicate properly and may not let the battery get enough power while charging. My stock crapped out on me about a month ago and all of a sudden, woke up one day and it would die within an hr of being unplugged plug it in and it would say it was at 78% then full in 10 mins

Power Button/Battery issue.

Posting for a friend who has a D.
Today suddenly the battery went dead and the phone turned off.
It was completely unresponsive even with a charger plugged in. We took battery out and left charger in, the light was flashing so we plugged battery back in but the light stoped flashing.
Thinking it was a dead battery we left it 'charging' and after about an hour the light came back on and the battery seemed to be charging.
Ten minutes later the phone turned on automatically and seemed to be OK.
Battey stats showed a massive massive dive making us believe it was the battery.
Now, it seems, the power button is fooked. Its completely unresponsive in the OS and recovery to both long and short presses.
I take it this means its a hardware issue with the power button?
I'm also wondering if these two things are related or its coincidental that they happened at the same time?
Cheers.

Today during sleeping, similar thing happened to my desire. When I woke up, the light was flashing and battery was dead, even though my phone was on charger the whole night... weird...

Really odd Charging situation

I got great battery life yesterday (better than usual I'd say....had about 50% left after about 3 hours of screen on and 13 hours off the charger, so I let it sit off the charger over night. Not something I normally do. When I woke up I used it for a bit and got to about 21 hours off charger and 4 hours of screen on....the important thing is this:
when I plugged it back in, it started carging like normal I left the room for a bit, came back.....and it was up a couple percent, but said it was no longer charging. I've reseated the charging cable a couple of times, to no avail. When the phone is on, it won't respond to the cable at all. If I turn the phone off, and plug in the cable, it comes on, acts like it knows it's charging. but keeps bouncing from the Samsung screen to the battery charging screen (no animation though) and a quick vibrate. It seems like if I leave it on, and leave it with the charger in, it'll charge, but it's not reflected in the battery %. if I reboot, it'll go up some, but not as quickly as it should have.
I've been fighting this all day and am finally up to the high 70s. also, if the phone is on, and I have the cable plugged in, but pull the battery, the phone will stay on via the power cable for about 3 seconds. Have been using DartStalker 6 with the Compulsion Kernel. I had an old version of that kernel so I updated to 10 with no change. Obviously wiped cache and dalvik for that....
it seems really weird that it kinda knows it's being charged, but.....seems
IDK....any ideas? suggestions? oh, also if I plug the cable into my laptop, the laptop doesn't see the device.
also, stock cable and charger block. have tried different regular USB cables and chargers....specifically whatever my wife is using to charge (successfully) her HTC One Mini.
just had more weird stuff happen. got home threw the phone on the charger, hooray! it shows that it's charging! after letting it sit for a bit I check it....it's lost juice. UGH!
Went to T-Mobile today. New phone should be here in 2 days. Oh well.....

Note 2 Will Not Power On Or Charge [SGH-T889/Rooted]

Last night I was using my phone while it was charging, but the battery was being depleted by the apps I was running faster then it was being charged. When it got down to around 3% I decided to call it a night, tapped the power button to turn off the screen, and put my phone on my nightstand so it could charge overnight like I usually do. Shortly after that I heard the phone vibrate where it shut itself off due to the battery dying which I've had happen before while trying to charge my battery when it gets to a very low charge percentage, so I didn't think anything of it and went to sleep.
This morning when I woke up I saw that my phone was stuck on the "Samsung Note II" black bootup screen and tried holding the power button to turn it off. That didn't work so I took out the battery and reinserted it. When I tried to power it back on nothing happened and even though the charger was plugged in there was no red or green charging indicator LED showing.
Since then I've tried taking out the battery and leaving it out while holding the power button for 30 seconds which I read is supposed to clear the RAM in case that is causing an issue. I've also tried connecting my Note 2 to my computer using another charging cable and it still doesn't show as charging or as being connected to my PC. I've had it plugged in for about 3 hours now in case my battery had been completely drained since it may have been stuck on the bootup screen all night long but so far after around 3 hours I'm still not getting any response from my phone.
Now I'm completely at a loss of what to do so I was hoping someone here who had a similar issue could help or if there are any other remedies for troubleshooting I could try go through. I've ordered a replacement battery from amazon which comes with an external charger but I won't be receiving it until Monday. The only other remedy I've found online is removing a capacitor but I'm going to be holding off on doing that until I've exhausted every other option available.
Phone Specs:
Samsung Galaxy Note 2
SGH-T889 (T-Mobile)
Android 4.3 (I think)
Rooted but not running any custom ROMs
