Let me first say I know that there are many different threads on this topic and if there is a few I should view please point me in the right direction as I am new to the forum.
The type of case I am looking for is ultimate protection bulk does not matter.
Things I am looking for are: a front hard screen protector like the otterbox defender and ballistic maxx
A kick stand would be great as I am doing more media
The 3 cases I am looking at are
Otterbox Defender I have heard great things about but I prefer the silicone on the inside, hard case on the outside I think that would offer more protection.
Ballistic Maxx Good looking product but no kickstand and I had one on my EVO and was not pleased with the quality but that was 2 years ago.
Seidio CONVERT I really like the protect level and kickstand but no hard screen cover.
Any other cases I should be looking at?
Any input would be much appreciated Thanks.
Trident Kraken.... But no hard screen cover. Comes with a soft replaceable one. Had a removable metal kick stand, different color cases, silicon on the inside plastic on the outside. Also you can order a few different attachments that connect to the back of the case hence the removable kickstand.

Capdase case is slim fit. Although it is not as good as the protection offered by the Ballistic case, but it is slim fit and with a free screen protector in it. Worth trying!!:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
I went with the ballistic maxx but there is no way I will use the provided screen protector. It creates a terrible sparkle effect and in my opinion wasn't even usable. I love the case though, it is easy to install/remove and protects the phone very well. The buttons are nice and the case doesn't get in the way of using the phone.
I bought a X-Gear Spectre glass screen protector and think it works well with this case. See my comments in that thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30096795&postcount=231
There are some small issues with this product but I still think it is the best currently available.

Im going to have to disagree. First lets not forget while inside the hard case your phone is also resting on some type foam cushioning that Otterbox adds inside its hard plastic. I also prefer the silicone on the outside of the case cause if you do drop your phone, your case wont get digged up. I have replaced cases cuz they gotten scuffed up after a while. Also when dropping a phone it makes such a harmless sounds when it lands on the silicone. You won't even flinch when the phone drops you'll just pick it back up and just keep on truckin along.

Otterbox defender. Better looking ,best protection, best warranty and idk what problems other people are having with the built in protector butbmy screen looks just as good with it on then it dose without it. Oh and it has a kickstand http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1829713

The kraken is one ugly case. That's not even opinion either. That's straight fact. Lol
I agree with The_Biz not only is it ugly but it lacks corner protection. So is the defender the only tough case with a kickstand?

I understand looks are a matter of opinion.
But how does it lack corner protection? There is big thick soft silicon on the corners... I have one and it's already survived a 7 foot drop and being kicked down a hall way.
And the defender's kickstand is the holster itself as where the kraken is a metal one attached to the case itself.... so with the defender you have to take the whole thing off your belt.

Good points I had not thought of. I will do some more looking in to it. I saw a drop test video where the case feel apart on impact, any word on that?

that video was not a real phone. It was a plastic or foam one. The few drops I've had every thing has stayed together.
But falling apart isn't a bad thing either, it's a way of dissipating the shock force.
The inner silicone layer is great protection as well.

i order mine seidio active combo. hopefully i wont regret buying it. will report in back as soon as it reaches my home =D currently using ballistic feel nice though but not as firm or solid as other may look.

I know when I had one for my Evo 3D there was a flap you had to open.
Let me know how the seidio case works out. I am not really concerned about screen protection in a case anyone as I plan on using the xgear spectre.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
The Seido Active is a nice case except for a couple things.
The volume buttons were a pain to press on mine (others say they don't have a problem).
The case has indentations on the sides that I thought would make it super grippy. But it's actually a little slippery.
The kickstand only works in landscape mode.
With that said, it's a great looking case that is easy to take off and put back on. And available for $27 shipped on eBay (as of last week).
Ok search narrows as I stated before I plan on using the xgear spectre screen protector.
Now just to figure out is the kraken the only heavy duty case with a kickstand?
I took a few second look at the kraken and it in fact has thicker corners than I previously thought. So definitely liking it more.

Sorry I can't link it, my work firewall will allow me to be on XDA/vBulletin and Ebay, but not Amazon.
Just put the description in either Google or Amazon and it'll come right up. Less that $6 and still slim and sturdy.
I have this case: http://www.amazon.com/Incipio-SA-302-Silicrylic-Silicone-Samsung/dp/B0085VAP38/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1348273886&sr=8-1&keywords=incipio+galaxy+s3 and love it. It is not the thinnest, as it does add a bit of bulk, but not as bad as it looks in the photos. It has two layers, and protects the phone well. First had one on my Galaxy Nexus and had to get it for my GS3.

It doesn't add any bulk and the kickstand is pretty nice. I've actually dropped it once, but it was from around 2-3 feet. It fell on the screen side, nothing broke, though.
I've got the ghost armor. Wouldn't really protect you from a drop, but keeps the scratches off or covers the ones you already got.

Hey guys, my S3 should be here by the end of the week, woooooooooo. But I need some help deciding on a case and was wondering if people who have tried different cases or used just one and can reccomend it could chime in. Basically I want something that will protect the phone, specifically something with a lip so when screen down the screen isn't touching the surface it's on, and basic protection of the phone, I don't drop my phone often, never dropped it on concrete, I'm not very clumsy but I still want something that'll protect my very very expensive phone. The Otterbox defended and similar cases seem like overkill for me, but the clear plastic 2mm case seem like not enough protection, so I was wondering if there was a nice middle ground that wasn't too thick and bulky but would definitely protect the phone. I've got my eye on this one http://www.goballisticcase.com/products/samsung-galaxy-s-3-ballistic-sg-maxx-series-case, any other suggestions?
Keep in mind I'm coming from a Desire Z with a thickness of 14.2 mm, the S3 feels like a piece of paper in my hand coming from that, so a little bulk doesn't bother me.

That's a nice deal for the Kraken, I like the Aegis as well, they look really nice.
I know you said the otter box is excessive but they actually have two different styles at sprint. i have the slim otter its not bulky but protects everything. I like alot due to the fact that it protects the charging port as well as the ear phone Jack. I had the s2 before and my charging port always got stuff in it like lent from my pocket or what not. The case is lined with a silicone case inside a hard shell which will stop dirt from getting inside and scratching the device as well as making it more drop resistant. It is deffinatly worth having for 30 dollars.
The otter box i have is actually smaller than the case you have posted and comes with one screen protector as well.
Here is a youtube review of the case if it dosent play just google galaxy s3 otter box commuter caae.

Urban Armor Gear. Love mine.
+1 for Otterbox Defender. Its not anywhere near as bulky as I thought it was going to be and I really like how it provides me with solid, square edges so I can prop it up on my display screen in my car dash very easily and it stays securly in place (for the most part).
Hey everyone I recently bought the otterbox commuter case for my N-7000, don't get me wrong it is a nice case but just a little to big for my hands. It made the phone just a bit to wide to operate and also added too much weight.
Now back to my original question, I know there are light cases that would protect the back and sides of the phone in a fall, what I wanted to know was, is there a slim case that would also offer some protection for the front of the phone as well i.e. a lip or buffer for the screen area as the otterbox does. It does not have to be a big lip like that, but some protection would be nice, I'm not the one to be careless with my gadgets, but as they say...**** happes.
I keep breaking my belt clip cases, since I wear on the left side, when I get into a car, the case sometimes catches on the seat.
I bought another cheap case, just for the back/screen protection, tossed the clip in the drawer.
This one was less than Five dollars (U.S.) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007L7PEAG/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00
Then, I bought this one, horizontal fake leather case to keep it in.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007QBUC9K/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00
Spent less for this 1,2 combination than I did for my now broken otterbox.

No they are just cheap plastic. The other is tpu plus hard plastic. Ive one with a kick stand from Amazon. Always use them
From box 13......
I tried 2 gel cases the mini suit and amzers both found on Amazon.com
The mini suit doesn't have a gel feel, and lacks protection. Here's the link for mini suit..
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=Amzer+note+10.1
Amzers case has a very jelly feel, and is also much thicker. The price is well worth the extra grip and protection. Which is my favorite thing about the case. It helps you grip the enormous 10in display comfortably without fear of slippage.
http://www.amazon.com/Amzer-AMZ9466...id=1359557273&sr=8-1&keywords=Amzer+note+10.1
All in all if you want the cheapest case you can get to prevent back scratches go with mini suit. If you actually want a grippy protective gel case go with the Amzer. Both cases come in many colors, and at only $20 for the amzer, and $10 for the mini suit($5 shipping included) they are both a steal!
Please remember to thank post if you found it helpful!

Hey man, So I was about to post pics for you but my phone kinda crapped out. Sent it into samsung so it should be back in the next 2 weeks. I will try to borrow my GF's GS3 to take some pictures later.. Unfortunately I am using a basic Huawei Android ATT Go phone in the mean time. No flash ****ty 3MP camera wouldn't really show you what you want to see.
I will be honest though, my thoughts about the amzer case where exactly that it was an amazingly snug and good fit. All the speakers/mics/camera/everything is all flush.
I have the amzer. It is thick and heavy. Loads of protection though. It covers all the silver except for speaker grills. There is a YouTube clip I think.
The amzer is definitely thick and good on protection.

Im not sure if your aware of the newer types of polymers used for gel cases nowadays. They are more dust resistent. In short I dont have a huge dust issue when using the amzer gel case. It stays fairly clean and if it attracts an occasional cat or dog hair theyre not statically glued to the case! Hope this helps!
I have the mini suit and it's great. Fits snugly and all the holes match up. I have a handmade leather case for my note and the mini suit is good to use when I'm walking around with it.
