I am using Odin 3.09. I have tried several CWM .tar.md5 and recovery-clockwork-6.0.4.6-serranoltexx.tar.md5
It always says "PASS!" and when I boot into recovery I get the old Android system recovery <3e>
What am I doing wrong??? Please help!
In Odin does it say "succed1 failed 0"?
After the phone reboots did you press Home + Volume up?

Yes, it says that. When I first press home + vol up I cannot get it into recovery. It does a normal boot. Only if I try again, it boots to the OLD recovery
If fails because you did not boot into recovery right after it flashes. You must catch that first boot into recovery otherwise the system will automatically reflash stock recovery

I have attempted to install CWM Recovery on the Samsung i747 (Bell Mobility). At first, I flashed the Recovery using Odin and could only access the stock recovery. I soon found out after searching the forums that the phone writes over the recovery on next boot with the stock recovery.
I then read that I should turn off auto-reboot in Odin and after installing the recovery, pull the battery and reboot directly into recovery. Upon doing this (holding volume up, home and power), I get a quick flash of the Samsung boot screen with the blue text at the top and then a blank screen for a few seconds, the phone vibrates and reboots normally. It seems like the recovery is corrupted and no matter how many times I re-flash the recovery in Odin, I can't boot into it.
Download mode works normally and the phone boots normally. I need to be able to fix the recovery, even if that means recovering the stock recovery.
Does anyone have any idea how I could do this?
Thanks!
Are y ou rooted?

Follow the proper directions for adb push of clockwork. Two methods easy as it gets. No need for odin past acquiring root.
Yes, rooted.
I am rooted now, yes.

As soon as you see that Samsung logo with the blue at the top, let go of the power button but continue to hold the volume up plus the home button until it reaches the recovery screen. If u don't let off of the power button at that point it will boot normally.
Won't flash recovery.. help me folks! Plz!

Are you flashing a recovery (like CWM) with Odin, rebooting into the ROM and then when you try to get into recovery you find it is still stock?
If so then the cause is the ROM. The versions LG8 and later have code to detect an unsigned recovery and replace it with stock. You need to:
- Download TeamEpic-Root-from-Recovery-v5.zip and place it on your ineternal sdcard.
- Get into Download Mode and connect ODIN.
- Flash the custom recovery with ODIN but do not check the "Auto Reboot" box in Odin.
- Disconnect the phone from the PC once the recovery is flashed.
- Pull the battery to power down
- Boot directly into recovery (Hold Volume Up, Home and Power buttons until recovery appears. Do not allow the ROM to start).
- Once in the recovery you need to flash the Team Epic Root from Recovery.
- Reboot
All Done

I found out the solution. After flashing done in Odin, just force into recovery mode without letting it boot to android, then we will see the CWM recovery, select reboot phone now then select Yes to disable from stock recovery on next boot.
Hope this help other user too.

i am havim the same problem...any fix?
sent from me. :]
Maybe this will help...
1. Download PhilzTouchRecovery 6.26
2. Put device into Download Mode
3. Run Odin
4. Connect device
5. Load PhilzTouchRecovery.tar.md5 to PDA Tab/Button
6. Uncheck Auto Reboot from Odin
7. Click start. Once Pass! Disconnect device.
8. Hold Power Button, DON'T RELEASE till you boot into your new recovery.
9. Once booted to PhilzRecovery, select reboot system now, select yes. to make sure not to overwrite with stock recovery or else you're PhilzRecovery will be reverted back to your stock recovery and you have to flash again your PhilzRecovery.
10. Once successfully flashed PhilzRecovery. Make all necessary backups.
11. Once fully backed up. Copy backup files to your PC.

No. Once you're in PhilzTouchReco you have to select reboot now. Then a question will appear, select yes. And try to boot in recovery again. You should be in PhilzTouchReco...

Pull out the battery for at least 30 seconds then try to re-enter to recovery
HOLD VOLUME UP + HOME BUTTON + POWER BUTTON
release the POWER BUTTON after 4-5 seconds so it won't loop to logo. try.

I just rooted my Samsung s4 (SGH-M919) by (CF-Auto-Root method), and I have trying now to flash ''PhilZ Touch Recovery''' And I did everything, flashed this version ''philz_touch_5.18.2-jfltetmo.tar.md5'' through odin, and the phone restarted normally. Unchecked the ''auto-reboot'' in odin, and after flasing, did the manual restart to recovery (Vol. Up + Power +.Home) and still nothing..
Tried another version ''philz_touch_5.15.0-jfltetmo.tar.md5'' and still nothing happened.
What am I missing? Any help please?
Thanks.

You don't need to press the HOME key to get into recovery.
Just press the volumeUp and the power button at the same
time until you see tiny blue writing in the top left hand side
of the phone's screen then let go of the buttons and it should
go into recovery mode.
My suggestion is to use either TWRP or CWM recovery for best results.
Good luck!
I would first root then go into the play store and download ROM manager. After doing that install cwm through there then reboot into recovery and flash philz recovery (.zip) provided somewhere in his posts and you'll be fine. I do it every time this way.

Rename the file. Just take off the .md5 at the end.
Make it just .tar at the end. It should work fine.
