So my friend sent in her s4 for repairs and Samsung sent her a galaxy nexus. She dropped it this morning and the screen cracked. Since its a temporary phone, what is the procedure for this? Does anyone have any experience

Man how high did you drop the phone from and what angle? The Galaxy Nexus is pretty difficult to break?
Sent from the homie
Not too high but it was a corner drop

Mines has held up very well from drops on to hard surfaces multiple times, 3-4ft high, but that's with a bumper case.
My bro prefers to not use cases so his GN took a few drops without any case and it just nicked/scratched the edges a tiny bit, screen had no damage.
His S4 screen cracked just from being in the pocket.
LOL
My other friend's galaxy nexus survived falls for 2 years and this one couldn't survive for 2 days smh

What do you guys think I can do I want another nexus only got 15$ I'm pocket how do my options look?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
If you only have 15 dollars then get a screen protector. That's really your only option if that's your budget. Now if you've had the phone for less than 30 days you can add square trade to it for 99.99

You could buy a dead gnex with a good screen and swap it out?

Found that out with my ns4g when truck ran over it 2 months after having it and I took it apart. Craziest thing tho...a large portion of glass is straight gone and it still lights up just can't see anything but lines and a slight green tint and computer sees it if plug into usb. Before my current phone (gnex) came out cheapest could find screen for it was $175. Not i think saw for a hundred. It's been sitting in drawer. Hope my gnex doesn't break and don't want to know how much for screen.

Anyone think that would be a nice idea to have a almost indestructible. Nexus ...I phones can really suck then (iphones are all glass and their for break like glass (pun)

Dear god don't let the defy be a reference point for this. From what I can see (7 company defys) its nothing like
motorola would have you believe. Only 2 don't have a cracked screen and all have dust under the screen. Either a really bad batch or bloody good marketing!

Hi,
I replaced my screen after it got broken, and now after using the new one for a while, I noticed that it's little lifted from the device itself...
I added a screenshot for you to see.
Someone has this issue here also?
Should I be worried?
Thanks
Tom.
loose screw?
I had to check to make sure I wasn't in the nexus 7 section when I saw this topic lol.

Lol. I did the same.

I received my Gnex back from the repair centre after a screen replacement job and the bottom corner of the screen was slightly lifted. I just pushed it back in gently and it has remained in its place so far.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I've had my nexus since December and the screen hasn't lifted nor is there any dust under it. I'm happy, I wouldn't worry too much about if it is lifted.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Yeah try to snap it back in place or tighten the screw under that section and see if that helps. Or a decent case that wraps it round the edge would also help. I dont think the whole screen will just fall out so its more cosmetic than anything.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using xda app-developers app
Yeah you just need to pop it back in place and tighten the screws in the back of the phone
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
housing not popped in correctly, loosen all the screws and pop it in ...
Thanks for the tips guys!

Currently I own the tmo S2 and am thinking of upgrading to the S3. My main concern is the screen as I have heard it is very easy to crack it. Is this true? My S2 has been dropped, kicked, but absolutely no scratches or cracks on the screen.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
The bigger the screen, the easier it is to crack. If you're not careful with your phone.. either get t-mobile insurance or buy the phone from best buy and get their protection plan.
Sent from my Galaxy S III using Tapatalk 2
The screen is indeed fragile. Former iphone/vibrant here.
Cracked because of bumping into the corner of a wooden table while inside my pocket...
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
My company has 3 s3's with 3do cases.
My guys are kind or rough on phones.
But so far so good.
The s2 definitely felt tougher but we did crack the edges, even with the case on.
The only phones we killed were my touches and 1 vibrant to a cup of coffee. Lol

Dealbreaker will be the notification light and price of course. Let's do this
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
What do you mean notification light being a deal breaker? It was confirmed to have one weeks ago and if you don't want it, just disable it?
A notification light is far from anything that could deal break me.

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Yes, lets use metal so I can have dents in my phone...
can't they make it even thinner? It looked so much like nexus, even with improved cpu it won't make it any smoother.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Dents is overrated. I'm not using them and my phone is running well.

Metal was so 2009. With newer, lighter and tougher materials like carbon fiber, you aren't going to see many more phones with any type of metal in them. Yes, regular "plastic" can have a cheap feel. But there are lots of newer process we are seeing on these materials that can give it a high quality look and even better feel than metal. Even so, I don't think the Nexus 4 displays much of a high quality look to it. My guess is Google is trying to keep the costs down to make it affordable in the Play Store.
headphone jack on the top? pooof mind bloooooown!
