After I flashed CM11 SNAPSHOT M5 on my Brazilian Optimus G E977 model (firmware version E97710d), I faced several crashes with "Subsystem crash" BSOD, with Demigod Handler issue or something like that . Several reboots later, the crashes stopped, however the mobile network was not working. Checked IMEI on status menu it was reported as null. I have a backup of EFS partition performed by FreeGee.
I tried all the tools available that I've found
1-flash a zip package containing the the 3 backed up .img files in CWM Recovery mode;
2-downloaded cwm-lgog_e977-brazil_10b-modem.zip from the EFS and MODEM backup/restore tutorial and flashed the modem zip package (replacing the modem.img with the one from my phone extracted with adb) ;
3-flashing stock firmware;
But still null IMEI and no network signal. Is there anything else I can try? Maybe if I get a specific file from another E977 model?

my friend can u us any custom rom ?? if u have external modem error (subsystem crash error ) say me i have one idea
Yeah, I flashed stock firmware and performed a factory reset, it was clean. Then I proceed to root, install FreeGee, BusyBox and then CWM 6.0.4.7 and then flashed the CM11 M5 ROM, has been stable for a while, then it crashed. This is the report:
"DemiGod Crash Handler : Subsystem Crash! : External_modem (Undefined error)"
BTW, I performed a backup of EFS partition 3 img files with FreeGee.
I had to flash stock firmware once more due to crashing, it's completely unstable with CM11 M5, I'll flash CM11 M4 which was perfectly fine and see if it becomes stable.
EDIT: still crashing with CM11 M4, the latest CM ROM really screwed my phone.
EDIT 2: sent my phone to local repair service and the main board was replaced, with a new IMEI. It seems there was indeed a hardware issue. I had a SIM card which I had it adapted into microSIM format but it wasn't recognized by my OG. After the motherboard replacement, it's being recognized now. I have backed up EFS partitions and modem packages following the tutorials on Q&A. But I'm enjoying stock ROM, it has some nice features which I didn't find in CM11, I'll stick with it for a while. I don't believe there will be any more issues regarding CM11 though.

my friend .hey u here ? u have external moder error now ?
i have one answer this
No, mate, no errors after the mobo replacement. One of these days I installed CM11 M6 and there were no crashes or errors related to modem. As I said, it was a hardware issue, from what I read, the most probable cause was a not complete functional power state, which caused the tension to drop excessiely, crashing the OS, corrupting the EFS/modem software and wiping the phone IMEI.

Hey Guys, this is the first time this has happened. I was using my Note 2 and it got really slow (im on Hawkish Rom | Perseus Kernel) and i decided to reboot it. On reboot the device booted and got to the "Samsung" Logo and was stuck there! i rebooted a few times more, and pulled the battery but it was still the same problem! So i decided to flash my ROM again, now the phone successfully boots to the OS, BUT it keeps saying: com.android.phone has stopped! I tried to go into Settings and check if my IMEI number is okay but when i click on "Status" under "About" settings just crashes. I opened up the Phone App and hit *#06# and it says IMEI: NULL. My WiFi works fine, but i cant get any signal. I have always made frequent backups of my EFS partition. How do i fix this issue? As i have a lot of business calls i am missing right now! Thanks!
ok. first things first if IMEI is lost (happened to me once) Just try to recover EFS partition using your recovery (TWRP o CWM) just search the option.
the one thing that worked for me it was flashing a new version of a Rom I was using android revolution and it also got laggy so I reinstalled and...I lost my IMEI (like you) then I just flash wanamlite (G1 Modem) and i got back my imei .
hope it works.

Hi,
I was flashing a custom ROM and my IEMI became null.
I tried flashing official 4.3 ROM of my carrier but that did not solve the problem.
I have not done backup to EFS and thus I cannot use that option.
Would you please help me fix this?
Thanks
Hey all,
Before I'm gonna get into this problem I'm having, I spent the past 3-4 hours using multiple methods - but no success.
Chain of events:
1. Installed DN3_v5+ ROM from DN3_v3.1.1
2. Installation went fine, Wifi works, no FC, but no network. *#06# dialer code shows null/null.
Alright, no worries - I took a backup of the Efs folder in the past, I have one in a tar.gz format, and in the past I even just copied the efs folder via the root explorer app(the permissions would have been messed up anyway).
So I tried restoring it, but it still didn't fix the problem (even after restarting it). I then tried to install a new modem(XXDME4 & LK8) to fix the efs and it didn't help either. I then reverted to an older rom i had on the SD (CleanRom Att SE 3.0) and same problem, then i went back on the DN3 v3.1.1 and same problem), currently I'm back on the Dn3 v5 rom.
I also have the IMEI number written down, if that helps.
What should I do? Any help is really appreciated!

Sounds like you flashed an N7100 rom. Which is a no no. Ditto note v5 is not yet ready for this phone, they are currently on beta v4 for this phone.
Simply odin back the stock rom to bring back baseband.
Then your set.

Thanks for the help man! So that's why it messed up, I ended up downloading a stock rom yesterday and flashing it today morning and it ended up restoring the imei.
Gonna leave a reference to this thread from here (set of stock roms)

New to the world of Custom ROMs. A week ago I installed CM 13 which took great courage on my part and wanted to share my experience, issues and discuss possible solutions.
My phone had the latest lollipop on it. And McCafee locked. The steps that worked for me where
1) Did a factory reset and bumped into mccafee.
2) Tried download mode but kill switch was enabled.
3) Rebooted the phone to face mccafee, tried 123465 pin which worked.
4) Disengaged McCafee but not before transferring ownership to my email.
5) Tried rooting didnt work with any method.
6) Rolled back to d software version stock lollipop.
7) Rooted with PurpleDrake
8) Replaced with CM recovery didnt work.
9) Replaced with TWRP and rebooted directly to recovery
10) Installed CM and gapps mini. Worked fine. Voila!
Issues:
1) No Custom recovery sticks, whenever I flash with a custom recovery like TWRP or Clockwork. I have to reboot into recovery immediately or the custom recovery is replaced by stock. It happens on every second reboot.
My concern is here if I get stuck into bootloop and dont have a custom recovery I might not have any other option than the stock ROM which does a full reset. How can make TWRP stick forever?
2) After installation of Custom ROM there have been random reboots, I suspect there is something here with phone app or voice. So far the reboots have been when I try to call using fb messenger, appear.in and phone app itself.
Is there a guide that tells me how to track this down?
Can I install a newer Nightly and hope this get fixed?
How can I retain my apps and data when installing a newer nightly? since all guides ask to wipe everything :S
I have a backup of system and data partitions, can I use that with other ROMs.
What ROMs have a better chance of fixing this issue?
Coudnt find Stock M for D850. Why arent those available?
Should an Official ROM be more reliable than CM for this?
3) Bad signal reception so far. It may be a generic g3 issue.
Can I hope that this issue be fixed with a different ROM or updates from Cynogen?
Someone said you may have to flash the radio partition. My question is where can I get a brief understanding of what partitions there are in android and which are risky. Which ones can be replaced, backedup and replaced back.
4) Whenever the phone reboots, it gets stuck into bootloop unless I remove the SIM card. Then I power off and install SIM Card and reboot and it boots fine.
I am already tracking CM changelog for something important. Cant post urls as of now :S
I recently installed cm14.1 on a Rogers d2can phone and I got unknown baseband and sim card stopped working. I tried flashing different modems which made the situation worse as now even old cm11 roms show unknown baseband.
Can someone please tell me where I can download modem zip file that works for Rogers and for cm14.1?
I recommend flashing the latest KK stock ROM from sammobile.com which will restore your phone back to stock and ensure the bootloader and modem/baseband are matched. After flashing stock and confirming that the imei is correct, then flash twrp, cm14.1, and gapps.
I was downloading from sammobile.com very slow and the download was interrupted in the middle. I will try again later.
Is there a better site to download firmware from?
So I downloaded it and flashed using odin. Flashing took a while but it passed. The phone got stuck on bootloop though.
So I booted to stock recovery and performed a factory reset. Booted again. Now it works!
I'm going to stay on Touchwiz 4.4.2 for a while.
Glad you got it working.
I would not call "staying on Touchwiz 4.4.2", "working" more like opening yourself to a long list of known exploits.
Others are having the same issue (cyanogenmod is dead so I removed the link, hope LineageOS fixes the issue some day.)
Using the last good CM-13 build is probably the best for now.
sim not provision ed MM#2...... easiest fix ....please n thanks;;;;
We'll need more information in order to help solve the sim problem like model #, ROM, etc.
First things first.. DO NOT TINKER WITH YOUR PHONE AT 3AM... sleep is gooooood!
Secondly..
I was stuck Crdroid with "Unknown baseband/imei" (flashing any other rom same issue)
Sim Status (everything was UNKNOWN)
Imei Information (Unknown)
Could not find a modem flash for D852 for the life of me, then stupid me remember DENEROM, and his "Canadian Post of all his workings" ( THANK YOU BY THE WAY DENE)
Now im running nougat so didnt even dawn on me to try flashing a LP modem..
But thats what fixed my issue ( like i said sleep is good )
Just flashing the modem for bell (since bell and rogers use the same crap) (overtop of nougat 7.1.1 cm 14.1) and restarted phone and voila!!
( yes every knowledgeable person is going to be like (duh no ****), but i like to break my phone just to fix it.. as simple as it was either way))
To everyone who tried to help thanks. :highfive: i can breathe now and will be keeping a backup of that modem file just for this issue in the future ( my problem had NOTHING to do with the EFS backup as i had tried 2-3 backups from previous working backups.)
i noticed i did not have the option to backup MODEM (need to find a modded twrp i guess to get that) as 3.0.0.0 does not have the modem backup option (least for me)
Just for anyone who has the same issue with their D852
Here is the link to XDA post by DENE (again all thanks goes to his post)

Now I know this is a huge touchy subject, so feel free to PM me so as this doesn't get misconstrued by any means.
I had my D852 working fine, made the full backup with TWRP, i have all the EFS and all of that.
I flashed a rom, and somehow my IMEI is unknown.. even flashing the (which was working fine) recovery it still has the no sim card / no imei issue.
Now my IMEI is on the sticker on phone underneath battery... is there any possibly way to get this going again. Would PC SUITE work? (typing in my IMEI number on the phone? ) And when i do this do i just have it running normally in the OS or in firmware update mode?
again really sorry for the question.. i just dont want to have the phone without the modem/imei problem not solved.

What ROM do you use?
This happened after flashing Crdroid 1.8/1.9/2.0.
after clean installing from Cm 14.1 (dec 25th).
Im currently attempting to LG flash to stock to no avail.
Did you try to restore just the EFS partition?
