I'm still waiting note 2 to arrive to Turkey. I'd like to ask has anyone tried GN2 with other launchers like nova or apex. If than, what do u lose?
I think it's hard to pull down notification bar one handedly and gestures included in nova and apex are helpful in this situation.
I think you lose PageBuddy, which is helpful when you pull out the Spen.

I think you got me wrong; I'm talking about pulling down the notification bar with your thumb of right hand when holding phone in your right hand.
In nova you have gestures, swiping down anywhere on the screen is enough.
I use Go Launcher and it runs extremely well. No problems found. Gesture support is included so pulling the notification bar down with a gesture is very useful on this big screen.
I tried Nova but 'Go' is better as it has a lot of extra 'bolt on' apps.

I am using Apex (paid version) and it's serving me well, with a bunch of decent settings to play with.
I am using nova prime version and its working flawlessly...

Hi...I am also using go launcher..everything is working fine except for 1 thing. With go launcher, when I remove the s pen it dosent pop up the s note page automatically. When I go back to touchwiz this feature works fine. Does this happen on your device too?
Thanks

I just tried it and can confirm the pop up S-Note does appear without any issue on Go Launcher, when the pen is removed.
I take it you've enabled this feature in the S-Pen settings?

My apologies...what i really meant was the page buddy feature was not available when extracting the s-pen with go launcher..the pop up s note works fine when selected in the s pen settings on either launcher.
Thanks.
I was asking the question (on another forum) about "what we loose" if we use another launcher.
So you can confirm everything works ? (except Samsung widgets I imagine)
What about default gestures like Covering the screen, sweeping for a screenshot, shaking for updates, moving the hand over the GN II to wake up
Anyone else having the "shadow bug" on Apex? How can it be fixed please?

Do you know what bothers me on Go launcher Ex? Indeed, it IS the best launcher I´ve seen so far as well, but what still makes me using another launcher (Nova) is the App Drawer. It doesn´t matter which theme I´ve tested...the drawer always looks cheap or is lagging on Go launcher Ex.

You can use an alternative app drawer like this:

Works fine with go Launcher ツ

The gestures all work including those you mentioned and split screen, so do all features with the S-Pen. Anything that's a Touch Wiz feature such as Samsung Widgets, Page Buddy don't. There's little that don't and you get more pros than cons using another launcher.

Salut!
Yes I had the problem using APEX either on stock or omega 3 ROM. Was very obvious with transparent widget i.e. APW and very annoying.
There is a fix for the S3 saw that from another thread were a member stated that fix should work for our NOTE 2.
So I gave it a try...
The fix is here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1894633
Somehow using CWM and that s3 fix ZIP did not work for me. So I used root explorer extracted the libhwui.so renamed the original one in /system/lib and copied the extracted one
And voila indeed fixed after rebooting
There might be some side effect i.e.: in EMAIL when scrolling there can be flickering flashing on some mail with HTML/images but it seems only if DEVELOPER option force GPU rendering is checked...I'm not 100% sure on that one but noticed it on some mail
So I confirm the statement of the XDA member the S3 FIX is functional on the NOTE 2 but possibly with some side effects....
Cheers
Jean-Marc
Hmm I'd better stay away from side effects and wait to see how it goes with a later fix maybe
Using Nova Prime. Good.

What, may I ask, exactly is this shadow bug? I have been using Apex and it seems to work flawlessly with no problems.

Yep...HD widgets is the way to go.
Got it on sale recently and it is excellent. The customisation options go real deep. Some beautiful clocks and weather options.
I don't use any other clock or weather widget on any of my devices anymore now.

Even Fancy Widgets is better than Beautiful Widgets
Ditto. Bought it because I had read so many good comments about it in the past, but I was kind of disappointed in it. Back to "Make Your Clock" where you just roll your own from scratch.
I've had this one for a while and like it quite a bit. Pretty broad selection of themes, though as others have said, it has been a while since much new material has been added. Never had any significant problems with it in terms of functionality, either with my Evo or my GNex.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I don't have any problems with Beautiful Widgets. I personally don't like HD Widgets as I find their widgets aren't are as nice.
If you are how are you liking it?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
I have used it. It is actually quite smooth and snappy but lacking very heavily in the features and customization department which isn't really a big deal to me because I am a basic user when it comes to launcher lol either way, it us a nice launcher for the BASIC user. If you are into customization and other things then definitely look the other way or utilize the 15 minute return policy.

It is OK. There are some things that def need fixing. Swiping to each home screen is way to sensitive. Adding icons to task bar is buggy... Icons disappear.
It's early... But it's neat

Is nice launcher I don't use many widgets so it doesn't come handy to me, plus only be able to see the latest 20 tweets doesn't help me, I need to open the app will leave it there and wait for next update

Been using it since 3/8, I'm a backer and they gave us access to the early beta. At first it was nice and now the release seems slooow for some reason. It's good but not great. I wouldn't suggest paying for it now and look elsewhere.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2181840
It looks nice, very smooth... but it's still like beta on phones I had several force closes... You can't use wallpapers from your gallery, the widgets of the launcher itself are very limited.
The concept of the launcher is great! But the main problem that I have had with it is that it eats a lot of battery ( I guess it's because of the weather widget/GPS usage ). The launcher otherwise has some pretty nice features, such as seperate desktops and reminders to change them when you arrive at a particular point/time.
Great concept. But still needs some improvement, here and there.

Uh....yes you can . Just go into your gallery, select your wallpaper and "share" it with chameleon. Then go back to the browser and the wallpaper should be listed.
I tried it, but wasn't feeling it for the phone. Just didn't seem like there was enough screen space to make good use of the widgets. I didn't try it on my N7, but I'm sure it would look better on that. Also too, the weather was wrong and wouldn't update to the correct town I'm in. HD widgets has no problem with that.

If u dont want xoz of DPI problem... Try nova launcher...its best out there..(nova pro)...
If u can sacrifice a bit of ram..rhen try spb shell if u want...
Or next launcher...both have amazing 3D styles..(a bit ram consuming)... I always use stock google launcher...that works for me.

I agree. I not an avid fan of custom ROM because of limited functionality and a lot of bugs so I prefer the stock. Greenify does the trick for me to speed it up.
By the way fastest launcher so far that I've tested would be Apex Launcher since that its an XDA product.

if you ask the best launcher .
the answer is apex.

There is no "best" launcher because all of them have their own upside and downside. It's all down to preferences and how you use your phone.
It's like saying which country is the best in the world. There is no better country than the other in the world, it's just down to preferences and how you look at things.
I personally don't use Google Search and Google Now (it's just as gimmick as Samsung Touchwiz and works horribly in my country) so no Google Experience Laucher.
I used Action Launcher in the past and found it to be intuitive and no-nonsense. Presently using Nova Prime for its customizability.
Thanks all
I'm now on nova it's good for me

Hey guys, i haven't seen a launcher thread, but everybody is using launchers
So let's discuss which launchers you use, and tell us why.
Say something about the costumization options, the performance and, if there is a big battery drain because of it, tell us that to
Also you can post your homescreens (but remember that there is a homescreen-thread too!)

I'm using too
Action launcher 3 here. Love it.
I always go back to Nova.
Apex Launcher. Fast. Smooth. Plenty of customization.
Unconventional but for me Lollipop Launcher wins because of it's small footprint (both size and memory).
for me is nova launcher also for my phone/tablet. fast (ish on galaxy tab 2 when switching from portait to landscape due to widgets) but tone of customization. also love the backup to drive option(good when playing with different roms). for my android box (cheap oem Chinese android box) i use action launcher. in my opinion is the best and fastest way to find an app of the app drawer on the left using mouse scroll. i wouldn't change it for anything else, except maybe something tv ready??? and light/smooth. if someone has any recommendation for tv box launchers i am very intersted to hear it
Nova launcher my favorite!
