Root is easy so long as you don't mind breaking the warranty.
Quick & easy, for the P600 model:

Thank you, however, I have knox installed.
Would I be able to go back to official firmware and unroot?.
Plus how do Samsung know you rooted your tablet?.

There is a knox counter which, when stock is 0X0. When rooted, the counter is tripped and goes to 0X1. There is no way to undo this and samsung will know.
You can always go back to stock by flashing stock firmware at anytime

Ah a fellow Uker.
I be tempted to root only so I can have apps like Sketchbook in window mode, however, since I just brought it I probably not bother yet.

Looks like they found a way to root the Note 3 without triggering the Knox flag. Hopefully those guys will release this method for T-Mobile.

It may have some thing to do with that, they still have a locked bootloader. So they dont have any working recovery yet. Only have root.

I believe this is correct, rooting a device and flashing custom firmware is completely different.
I wonder if only root will be available for us as well,I'm interested in not loosing my Knox warranty. But root would help for greenify and xposed modules.
EDIT: are we able to keep a valid Knox warranty by only installing root and not installing any custom recovery? (TWRP, CWM) has anyone tried this?

I dont think so. Because we are starting with unlock BL to being with. So the system that is rooting the device take advantage of it, which automatically trips Knox. That's just me conjecturing.
Just wait abit, the phone just came out. I am sure some one will figure out what/how is knox working exactly. Also if you worried about warranty there are plenty of 3rd party warranties available.
Am I the only one who doesn't give a flying fig about Knox? I'm not using it. I have no use for it. Unless I missed something about Knox, it's nothing more that a security protocol that protect business apps on a device. Why would you care if you tripped it if you're never going to use it?

I think the warranty getting void is the problem for some. Not having an option to go back so you can use the warranty is the problem. So if some thing go wrong people can't use Company warranty because they will know thanks to Knox B.S. And can refuse any help/repair.
I have heard that only Samsung checks the knox flag, so T-Mobile and asurion are just fine if it is otherwise stock

My understanding is that the current rooting for our phone voids the Knox warranty because it installs a custom recovery. If there was a way to follow similar procedures as the Att variant we could have root with valid knox warranty. Does anyone know if the Att rooting method will also work with the T-Mobile model?

I believe the att version of the Note3 is completely different from the t-mobile version.
and
the knox flag is designed to be permanent. There is no way of getting around it, I believe.

Wait long enough and there will be a counter reset. Lol
I'd love to get this for the T-mobile version - all I want to do is root only so I can change the DPI and use some xposed modules. If I can do this without triggering the Knox flag, that would be great.
I hope a dev out there is willing to look into this.

Lol I hope so. Chanfire has been saying that it will be a PITA to get a counter reset for Knox warranty since it blows an efuse when flashing anything. He said the binary counter can be reset a little easier, but knox status will already be flagged so binary counter reset won't really make a difference in the long run.
All we need is a way to insert root via adb maybe, without requiring a custom recovery to be installed. This will give us valid knox warranty status and root access. I would love to install titanium backup and xposed with greenify to increase battery and add a few other modifications to this amazing phone.

just remember efuse has not been confirmed.
if that is the case rooting, then people will fall into these 4 categories.

2. rom/mod enthusiast
3. lucky amatuer
4. guy with nice brick needing a new phone

Yeah, it's unfortunate.
There's actually a big discussion about this over in the S4 forums: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2447832&page=46
I myself am luck that I never updated my bootloader or anything, Knox Counter doesn't show on my Bootloader. (I have the T-Mobile S4, by the way, not the Note 3.)

Thanks. Did not know Knox was in the S3 version but was in S4 version to be in U.S. Will hold off on rooting until someone lets me know it is Safe with CF-auto.
So I may be buying a S4 soon but I need help understanding how know works with the s4. I have the tmobile s3, and I was already rooted so have yet to upgrade to 4.3 bootloader. What do I do if I buy a 4.3 S4? will it be easy to root, unknox, etc? will I be gauranteed to lose warantee and not be able to return to factory conditions? All answers are appreciated, Thank you!

that guide was written before the 4.3 update, since then a knox counter has been implemented which cannot be reset and therefore will most likely void warranty...
Was just wondering if there is a way to avoid setting off that counter

Yes you're right about the Knox counter. Unfortunately there's no way to reset the counter right now. Beside those few things you can root and flash 4.3 custom Rom (cannot flash 4.2.2)

I guess my question is what if I buy a galaxy s4 with stock 4.3 updated via ota? When I root will I be automatically be stuck with a triggered knox counter or does rooting alone not affect the knox counter? Sorry for any misunderstanding.

As far as I know, rooting DOES trip the knox counter. If you can find one that's still on 4.2.2 (MDL or MDB) I'd go with that one. At least with one that's still on 4.2.2 you can reset the flash counter (knox counter is irrelevant on the m919 on pre-4.3 official) and still have the freedom to use 4.2.2 ROMs if you so desired.
I was pretty stupid since I figured out how to install but can't get rid of it. I don't really like cyanogenmod so if someone can teach me how to go back to stock, I'll be really grateful and happy! Its m919 T-Mobile! TY

Hey buddy, I have the same phone as you and I needed up doing pretty much the same thing as you did. So if you want to get it back to stock, you're going to need odin. A stock image, which was provided by a awesome user named Vigz for me, and you need to reflash it. If you KNOX on you phone before flashing/rooting then you're counter is now 0x1 (no known cure yet) and you're warranty recover is next to impossible atm. But here's what xda helped me with so please use the info that I got to hopefully help you. Best of luck.

If you were on the official 4.3 firmware you have Knox.
(OTA, Kies or Odin flash the 4.3 firmware week give you the mk2 bootloader with built in Knox counter).

Sadly what the above comment said is true. You have KNOX. and you have tripped the counter/voided your warranty. There's no known counter (As far as I know of).
Is there a fix, in the works, similar to triangle away, clear cache partition for 4.4.2 like for 4.3? A Knox fix I guess? I've already jumped the gun, and updated OTA. And I'm a little hesitant about rerooting, as I read an article that said there is no warranty fix once you root from 4.4.2. Anything?
Nooo. There is not.

Since it's already tripped go ahead and use CF Auto Rooter. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2294005
Once it's tripped you can't trip it again so root and enjoy. I did and now am having fun trying a new rom every few days.
