So I'm sure many of you would have noticed that after performing a clean flash, all the contact images are blurry and don't download on their own. Only after opening their contact once is their full resolution contact image downloaded from Google servers.
It's a pain to do this manually each time.
Is there a way by which all contact images can be downloaded in full resolution automatically after performing a clean flash?
Anyone?

Hello, I often flash new roms to my phone. I noticed that my contact pictures have a very poor resolution after a fresh install and the following sync with the google servers.
Because of that I want the save and restore the high resolution pics without google sync. So there is no need to relink all contacts to gallery pics every time.
Can anyone please give me a hint, how to backup it with titanium backup? Or wich file / folder I have to backup? Thanks.
I have flashed MMuzzy's latest AOSP JB ROM and I am having problems with putting a hires jpg image into contacts.
If I try to use Gallery to load an image gallery crashes: "Unfortunately, gallery has stopped"
If I try to use Astro File Manager I get a message "File type jpg not found"
Gallery seems to work fine alone as does Astro. Any suggestions on how to solve this?
I am running XenonHD and I have seen several people complain about the gallery FC'ing when trying to set a picture to a contact. I personally have not had this issue but I wonder if it may be a JB issue and not related to a particular ROM.
Try this:
1. Reboot into recovery
2. Make a nandroid backup
3. Flash the attached zip
4. Reboot
Hope this will fix the issue, other wise just restore the nandroid backup.
Good luck.

The T9 dialer did not solve the problem. However, I did find a work-around. If I open a photo in Gallery and then chose the option to make it the image in Contacts then it works. It is the opposite procedure, opening Contacts and trying to add or change the photo from inside Contacts, that does not work.
Background: Rooted phone w/stock image with injected root.
Applied latest OTA (UVDLJC), then recovered root using Voodoo OTA RootKeeper (worked just fine), but noticed contacts not displaying ... well ... any contacts at times. Leaving it up for a while, it would come up with an error (crashed). Rebooting the phone would make all contacts available, again, but only temporarily, then the app won't display them, and back to the crash.
Re-did the UVDLJC (thank you mrRobinson http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771687), this time directly using the newly uploaded injected root image, but the contacts app still behaves the same way.
While the app is malfunctioning, all incoming calls have no contact identified.
I also installed GO Contacts, but the behavior is the same (not depicting, than crashing) - I assume because somehow this app is using the original contacts "under the hood"?!?
Any suggestions?!? Is there a specific area I could redo, to recover contacts?
TIA,
Stefan
Solution...
I've been mucking with my contacts, merging different sources, restoring backups, using external editors, etc. I've found that a reboot fixes edit changes. Once my contacts are correct then my messaging and call logs show names rather than numbers.
Try wiping Contacts and Contacts Storage.
wiping data, freeze-then-thaw via Titanium Backup Pro - to no avail

Tried wiping data, to no avail. It just works for a while, then all of a sudden there are no contacts in the list, and the calls - of course - show no IDs/names. Only reboots seem to temporarily fix the problem, but the issue comes up again, shortly thereafter.
I wonder if there is a way to REINSTALL only the contacts app. I tried to freeze the contacts and contacts storage, then "thaw" them via Titanium Backup Pro, but that did not fix the issue, either. I assume that by removing them via TBPro, and then restoring them, it would end up - if the root cause if some sort of corruption in the app(s) - in the same place I am right now.
So this is the weirdest thing ever, somehow i lost the option to crop the wallpapers and now my wallpapers do not scroll, the weird part in it beying that not ever after a backup restore from TWRP i get the function back.
This all appened yesterday when i was trying differente wallpapers and then i wanted to return to my "default" one, which i downloaded and setup since day one, and then i just had an option to set wallpaper and not crop it anymore.
I'm really lost here guys, here is the list of my tryed and failed attempts to correct the problem.
- Delet the cache and data from every wallpaperish app that i could see
- Restore factory defaults and use my normal google account
- Restore defaults and setup without a google account
- Restore backup from TWRP
This last one should have keeped the option as i had it by the time of the backup, but dosen't
OK so i'm stupid (insert facepalm), it seems kitkat does not give the crop option anymore
Just saw an article on kitkat that says it inteligently disables and enable scrolling
But can anyone explain how this "inteligent" thingy works
Hello,
I'm currently running the 4.4 rooted deodexed stock Rom downloaded from the developers section. It worked fine for about a month after I installed it (using the recommended recovery, full wipe etc.), and then I ran into the 'process.android.acore stopped' process which rendered the phone unusable. Based on what I read online it seems that the only option was to perform a factory reset which is what I did.
Since that point, any application that needs to download (or upload) files, has been unable to do so. I first noticed it in WhatsApp where the images send to me showed up blurred and when I clicked and tried to download them I would get an error that the download failed. Sending an image would generate an error as well. Looking further I noticed that none of my email apps (outlook.com, Touchdown, Xfinity etc.) is able to download any attachments either.
I tried to wipe and reinstall the Rom, as well as formatting the SD Card and internal memory, but when I reinstall the apps I mentioned or restore them using Titanium I get the same behavior. The errors do not indicate what hte root cause is, but I assume it has something to do with storage on the phone being corrupted somehow.
Any suggestions on how this might be resolved would be appreciated.
Resolved by upgrading to the N1 ROM.
