[Q] Verizon HTC ONE with T-Mobile Service - Verizon HTC One (M7)

Is there a way to use Verizon HTC ONE with T-MOBILE with data speeds other than EDGE (E)? Is there any other methods like flashing a T-MOBILE radio (don't know even if that is possible). Would any MODS, developer or expert with insight to the hardware provides inputs ?

PS - I have seen other threads just cutting short to sell this phone and buy another one, I am trying to see if there is another solution

If I'm correct the reason why the device does not work on T-Mobiles LTE network is because T-Mobile runs there faster network on there 1700mhz band which is only supported on the T-Mobile variant of the HTC One. They have acquired some 700mhz spectrum from AT&T after there botched merger and have been using that spectrum to release some of the stress from the 1700mhz band. I have heard of it working on the the 700mhz spectrum but not the 1700.

If the hardware is compatible - would it be possible to flash T-MOBILE radio onto Verizon ONE?

The hardware is compatible its just that it does not have the compatible radio to work with their LTE/4G band to get data. It will get Edge no problem and the areas that are running on the 700mhz band but that's it.

[Q] Will an ATT or Rogers Note 2 work on more thna edge speeds on T-mobile?

I just received my Note 2 it is on Rogers.
I have unlocked it but it is not yet rooted.
I have just traveled to US and am using my T-mobile SIM card and no matter what settings I try I can't get anything other than EDGE data even though I am paying for 4g.
I was under the impression that All models of the note 2 In North America (not including Verizon) were identical and would if unlocked work on all networks equally.
Seems this is not the case. The TMobile site lists different choice for the LTE bands than Rogers. Yet the Telus branded model on their website shows the same version of LTE as on Tmobile.
Are the phones actually different? Or is it the firmware of the Radio inside such that if I rooted and flashed the Tmobile modem it would then allow me to use the faster speed data network on my unlocked Rogers phone but on the T-mobile network?
No. Our model doesn't support the frequency that T-Mobile uses for 3G

No the hardware doesn't support it so a different modem wouldn't work. Our phones (Bell, Telus, Rogers) support LTE on 1700/2100, but not HSPA+, so until T-Mobile launches their LTE network you'll be on edge only
Edit: There are some areas where they are reforming their 1900 spectrum to HSPA+, so you could only connect in an area where they have done that already

So I guess for now I will stay on EDGE hopefully LTE goes live soon enough. The Rogers phone will work on their LTE frequencies right?

Will LTE 1700Mhz work on HSDPA+ 1700MhZ

So I heard LTE is backwards compatible with GSM and HSDPA + My carrier supports AWS band 4. Will this work? Has anyone tried it?
So you're basically asking if the AT&T Optimus G will work with T-mobile's 4G Network, right? The answer is NO. Or at least not by default. That's because, even though the phone has the correct band (1700/2100), you would still need the correct radio to be able to use that specific frequency (again 1700/2100) with your carrier. Much like the AT&T Galaxy Note I717. It supports the 1700 frequency, but in order to have that working band with Tmobile, we had to flash a Tmobile specific baseband/radio from the Galaxy s2, Galaxy S Blaze 4G and/or Tmobile Galaxy Note to be able to use the phone on the 1700 freq. So in this case, Unfortunately, Tmobile won't be releasing the LG Optimus G, so there won't be any radios available to use. But, the LG NExus 4 actually has the exact hardware specs or SOC as the LG Optimus G, so a radio/baseband port might be possible.

Actually the two networks don't share the same GSM freq. Yes the AT&T LG Optimus G does have the AWS 1700 band in the hardware, but it is not enabled by default in the software. In order to enable the AWS 1700 freq, you'll need to use/flash the correct radio that carries the AWS 1700 freq. Like i said in the earlier post, one might be able to possibly port the a radio/baseband from the LG Nexus 4. Since it supports all pentaband frequencies.
So why would they disable it if the carrier uses 1700/2100 for LTE? I'm still not understanding its limitation

It's not that the 1700/2100 bands are disabled. They are very much enabled but the radio is set to use them for LTE.
So you are saying even though LTE is backward compatible the band installed is software limiting the hardware to only allow LTE 1700/2100?

LTE phones are backwards compatible because they support other bands for HSPA and GSM. For example, a carrier using 1700 MHz for LTE may use 850 and 1900 for HSPA but the 1700 will only work with LTE.

You somewhat got it. It is the same problem with AT&T's HTC ONE X. The phone as the 1700 band for LTE, but when used with Tmo it only picks up 2G using the 1900 GSM. But with Tmo merging with Metro PCS, and partnering with Ericsson and Nokia Siemens Network, the H+ 1900 Spectrum will be available everywhere very soon. I read an article on tmonews.com that it should be done by the end of this year.
maybe the Canadian Telus version would work with T-Mo's AWS

[Q] Cel-Fi Signal Booster + Verizon S4 + TMobile Sim Card = HELP

Hey Guys,
Not sure where to ask at this point, but I know that there is a Verizon forum for the S4, but this is more T-Mobile inclined question.
My mom was given an S4 at her job from Verizon but I convinced her to give it to me since I wanted it and I gave her my Tmobile Note 2.
I put my sim card into the Verizon S4 and configured the APN setting so now im getting faster data speeds with the Verizon S4 than I was with my Tmobile Note 2. So everything works but the phone is in Global mode, which I dont really care at this point.
My question is though, how can I get the Verizon S4 to connect to the Tmobile signal cel-fi booster that I have. I have no service at my job so therefore I obtained one of the boosters offered by Tmobile, works great with my Note 2, but the S4 does not recognize the cel-fi booster.
Please advise...
I guessing the cell fi thing is for tmobile phone only. I'm sure tmobile don't want just anyone to use their products.
It's probably a firmware deal and not the SIM that recognized the cell fi.

Your best bet is to call T Mobile tech support and ask them. You've got a really obsscure question that probably has to deal with the frequencies the 2 devices communicate on that no one here has probably ever dealt with. T Mobile is going to be the quickest way to get this answer.
The T-Mobile cel-fi operates at the 1700MHz aws frequencies. According to this thread they are not enabled by default on the Verizon galaxy s4. So that's why it's not picking up the signal from the cel-fi.

I work for Cel-Fi - it looks like you are correct.
The RS2 Cel-Fi (the latest one) will boost 2 bands: 1.9GHz (aka PCS, Band 2) + AWS
BUT the older RS1 (we dont sell it anymore) will only boost AWS and not Band 2...
Check here for details on the Bands 2 and 4, and here for definitions of the bands...
It looks like the S4 gets 1900 band 2 (specs S4 for T-Mobile UMTS: Band I (2100);UMTS/HSPA+: AWS Band IV / 2100 / 1900 / 850;Band II (1900);Quad Band GSM;LTE)
Let us know which Cel-Fi you have...

And since you work for Cel-Fi, does the RS2 model boost the LTE signal for T-Mobile or not? From what i am reading, it does not.

They do, it switches to global mode (GSM) when you insert a non-verizon sim.. Most CDMA smartphones have this capability nowadays, which they did not before.. Verizon is the only carrier I know that does not lock the gsm radio on their phones, I think Sprint's phones are sim locked

[Q] Factory Unlocked vs T-Mobile Radios

Will the factory unlocked M8 support everything radio wise that the T-Mobile M8 will? I'm currently able to get one considerably cheaper than a T-Mobile one and just wanted to be sure.
I believe the unlocked is missing the 1700 band that hspa+ runs on. If you're in a reframed 1900 band area then you're okay. Otherwise you lose hspa+

Neither of the unlocked or Dev M8s will give you HSPA on AWS, so you’d have to be in an 850 MHz area. If you got the Dev edition, you’d be limited to 21 Mbps.
For LTE, the unlocked EMEA version won’t work at all and the Asia version will only work in areas where T-Mobile is transmitting on 700 MHz. The Dev edition will at least give you 700 and 1900 MHz, but I think T-Mobile currently has most of their LTE on AWS.
I've been around for several years now, but still very much uneducated about the radios and bands supported.
I have the GSM Dev edition. By reading the info in the last few posts about what bands/etc are supported and what speeds (HSPA, AWS, 4G, LTE) does this mean the Dev version is physically incapable of getting 100% service (edge, aws,...their whole network) on T-Mobile because of a lack of an actual component inside the phone? Or is it not "supported" because the firmware ( I.e....the radio software) is not included?
I guess my next logical question would be since I'm unlocked, s-off and superCID, would it be possible to turn my phone into a virtually identical T-Mobile phone? Or is T-Mobile's version of the M8 not even going to fully work on their network... Areas that haven't been refarmed yet.

This is what my post above was addressing.
The Dev edition is physically incapable of getting 100% service in all of T-Mobile's markets due to lack of hardware, yes. Therefore, it is impossible to turn it into an identical phone from the standpoint of radio compatibility.

The Verizon version is a little different than the T-Mobile version. The Verizon M8 is a little more limited with its 3G/HSPA since it only goes up to 14.4 Mbps vs. 42 Mbps with the two unlocked versions and the T-Mobile version. It has more LTE bands than the T-Mobile version, but at least one person on the Verizon board is having problems connecting to LTE on his Verizon M8 abroad.
Just in case you were referring to the Dev edition when you said “carrier unlocked,” those are different as well. I wouldn’t recommend using anything but the Verizon M8 on Verizon’s network since only the Verizon and Sprint models have CDMA radios and Sprint’s model doesn’t have the LTE radio to use Verizon’s LTE network (or vice-versa).

Are you able to connect to all T-Mobile bands? I want to pickup a used m8 but the T-Mobile variant is $100 more expensive than all the other carrier's versions. Does anyone know if I could pickup a used AT&T/Sprint/Verizon m8 and use it on T-Mobile without sacrificing frequency bands or anything?

Furthermore, both phones can fully support the AWS band for T-Mobile, however, At&t elected to lock the AWS band for the HSPA+ to refrain customers from unlocking and switching.
I was getting spotty service around my house, and just installed the T-Mobile radio and ROM on to my At&t M8. I will report on the performance once I have some time with the new set up.

How is this working for you? I have a vzw m8 and I'm over on T-Mobile, now mostly everything works,except for 4glte, it will work and then cut off after a bit, or if I travel between towers I loose connection and it won't try to find another tower, band or any other... So I get most out of this, just not all. And I was wondering which radio I used... Last time I tried a T-Mobile radio, I lost all connectivity. Btw I'm soff and supCID

Haha I know the pains of using a vzw device on gsm networks I had a LG g2 Verizon wireless and ran it on t-mobile I had to sell it had to reboot the radio about twice a week as well as take out SIM card

Hey my phone is doing great! I even managed to pick up some better HSPA+ around the house - although I can't confirm if it is on the AWS band.
In terms of flashing the radio on the Verizon M8, I am highly doubtful that it will produce any valuable results. The CDMA version of HTC's always differs significantly from their GSM counterparts. If you look at the supported bands for the Verizon M8, there is no support for the T-Mobile UTMS AWS band - which is probably why you are dropping signal while switching towers.

There's the full rundown on what version has what. That site has that for pretty much every phone as well. It does have 700Mhz, so when/if 700Mhz LTE is deployed around you you'll be able to pick it up. The ATT version has more LTE bands, but the T-Mobile version has more HSPA bands (1700 is missing from ATT). It really doesn't make sense to get a version other than your carriers version for band support most of the time as while a given version may have more bands, your carrier probably isn't using them anyway. If they were, their phones would include it as well.
