An issue regarding Puzzle & Dragons - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Good evening, I'm Adal Chien, an enthusiastic Android player from HK that owns a root Samsung Crater.
I've read an article in AndroidAuthority that indicates that P&D misblocks root machines for a piracy.
Thus I've installed RootCloak+ for Cydia substrate that has cloaked himself, renamed SuperSU to eu.evasi0n7.1.94.apk, Puzzle & Dragons v6.4.3 in English, Cydia substrate.
However P&D hasn't been working properly yet.
Thanks for your achievable & valuable measures regarding this issue.

[Q] Copyright-clean Android?

Is there an Android build for the HTC Touch Pro 2 that has no copyright problems? I downloaded the FRX06 build, but system.ext2 contained some of the apks that Google doesn't allow to be distributed without their permission, e.g., Gmail, Maps and Market. I know I can delete the apks, but (a) I feel bad even downloading something that contains unlicensed copyrighted materials; and (b) I worry whether there are additional unlicensed copyrighted files like various libraries.

Yes, that's me. My Palm TX is aging, and I am considering Android as a development platform. (iOS is not an option--I don't want to develop for a closed device, plus I don't have a Mac.) Specifically, I am thinking of making a decent mid-to-high-end astronomy app--there is nothing in the Android world that is as powerful as the best PalmOS astronomy apps. But before I spend money to buy an Android device, I'd like to try out Android and hence am thinking of booting my wife's HTC Touch Pro 2 into Android. I'm kind of afraid of what a no-stylus interface is like.
Glad to have you around, I used to see your name cropping up everywhere in the old days. As I recall, nvbackup was never topped as THE backup utility to use on garnet.
I'm no dev, but I've been trying out Android on my TP2 as well while waiting for a tilting screen slider to come with android. Really only heard about the closed apk contraversy recently. I suppose there could be a cleaner build somewhere. If no one drops in here, you might have more luck finding out what you need in the android dev sub forum or in the xdandroid chat: http://xdandroid.com/wiki/Chat

[Q] Is 'Droid working strictly for us (and not for Google) possible?

Hi, guys!
Before I pose my question: I am really in awe of projects in the Open Source community style and this is soooooo good to see and experience (my other hobby is Sat TV "hacking" and so on... )!!!!!!!!!! :good: So, endless thanx and respect(!!!!) to all involved!!!!!!!!!!
Context: recently I managed to S-OFF my HTC Desire with 'Droid 2.2.2, then somehow I rooted it, 4EXT recovery/backup (if memory serves, the "touch" one) is in, in recovery mode I flashed the latest MIUI ROM (sorry if I misspelled it) with JB 4.1.2, improved the "radio" and so on... The one or two things that do not work - that I noticed - was no sending SMSs and poor video recording and reproduction. So, the search is continuing!
My question is - before I attempt the flashing of Paranoid Android ROM (how fitting, regarding my question! ) - is there a ROM that has kicked the living daylights out of Google corporate c*a#, please? As in, there is no stuff, in that would-be ROM, that constantly collects our data and sends it back to corporate and other commercial coders, please?
Because, as a matter of principle, we ought not to have to think of just how much data is going to corporation(s) and individuals coding apps etc. And from then on, to "authorities", of course. Not that I have anything to fear, in that respect - but it is the principle that is at stake here! Similar with Linux v. MacroHard and their "enlightened" attitude towards our privacy etc.
You know, we have a myriad of apps of all sorts, so I suppose we do not need Google's intrusion in all aspects of our interaction. I am perfectly happy, for instance, to use Firefox or Maxthon or Opera browser and get into my emails that way, not having to use the Google app for Gmail! I presume we could also have other apps to replace Google chat (presumably through Firefox in Gmail?) and so on and so forth. Really, I do not need Google's maps, when we have Open Street app and so on and on and on.
So, does this ROM exist, please? No Google/corporate/commercial stuff in it, that is...
And if not, has the time arrived? It is Linux, after all...
Would it be possible to make something like that?
Many thanx, again!
P.S. I recently bought a SuperPad tablet and I wonder if there are custom built ROMs/OSs for those, as well? Anyone knows, please?
Well of course any Rom without the Google apps.
Your principles on data collection went out the window when you first used the internet.
I disagree... respectfully, of course...
For instance, see BBC website for the "right to be forgotten" EU proposal on data collection/storage/handling... However, no such battle can ever be completely lost or won - they keep going on...
As a newby I have a problem with posting links but... let me try:
Code:
bbc co uk / news / technology-16677370
My Q was also re. full functionality without Google stuff - some ROM authors warn that their ROMs can't function properly unless we flash the Google stuff immediately after ROM itself... Any clarification, please?

its not to do with they cant function properly (they can) its just the fact that play store is "google" and u also need a gmail account. correct me if im wrong. Soo like dethrat says,.... its about gapps. (more or less).
It's not a matter of me thinking this is/you're wrong (on this one). I think/hope, that you are also hoping that I am right... Am I right?
You have a point, in a way, since it started in this manner with credit cards (easily done but also easily circumvented) and onwards but...
Look, ever tried Flipboard? I mean, if you are neglecting the examples I already wrote about... Check it and compare with Google Currents, please... Simply flipboard dot com... Need I say more?
On the level of principles: we do not need to be tethered/electronically tagged and under constant "surveillance" by Google or any other corporation or even the state, for that matter... Don't you think this is kinda worth at least trying? No offence intended to anyone(!) but I think this is the adult thing to do...
Well, this is what I am looking forward to nowadays... So, do you think that, for instance, a developer of Paranoid Android could make it all work with "alternative" apps, please? An effective "Ads Blocker" and kinda "No Script" apps included, of course. Maybe even - in this sense - "cleaned up" crucial apps, too... If "Anonymous" were really serious and competent (intellectually, professionally and morally), maybe they should get on it right away, eh?
I mean, if I ever requested anything from anyone on these boards, this would be it - an AIO OS without corporate [email protected]#. And I have a feeling that a fair few of us might keep trying this sort of thing out...:good:
Code:
bbc dot co dot uk / news / science-environment-21923360
Any more info on my question, please? Anyone with some experience?
Cheers!
So, the great WoH tells me that it is possible to use his ROM without the G-stuff, that is "Gapps" - and that everything should work just fine! And I am very grateful for this possibility! I only need to "skip the step with the gapps", he says.
Then, one proceeds with "3rd party app stores" like Amazon, GetJar, Fireplace and Yandex.Store. I presume there is an included browser in the ROM without the Gapps, so I start it and go to one of those sites, get their gadget and simply install from there, the free stuff... hopefully not having to log in with my Gmail account...
My problem, though, lies here in this thread - setting up PDroid. That's for seriously enhanced privacy/security! In the thread's "how to" there seem to be some discrepancies with the newer versions of PDroid... Really not sure how to do it, what exactly must be done, with which files... And I can't post in that section, to ask questions... Like "Where is the apk you mention in the top post?" and "What exactly are the steps?"
So, I must prepare by reading a lot, testing it and then redoing it, from scratch, i.e. flash the ROM again, as WoH described in his thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2131790
My hope would be that he includes the PDroid patch/apps - if at all possible - in the next edition of his awesome ROM!
Also, I would dearly love to see and test a ROM with all the best alternative apps, links to a few of the best 3rd party apps stores, tools etc. - but no G-c#@p (or almost no G-c#@p)... at least as much as humanly possible...
Here is a sketch:
3rd party apps stores,
keyboard and speech apps,
a couple of browsers (Firefox/Opera, maybe),
a few tools to manage the phone and set it up properly (Advanced Task Killer, Android Manager and alike),
best audio-visually capable Gtalk app and Skype for chat,
some non-demanding but good protection (Avast suite?),
Flipboard for news,
Adobe Reader, Kindle and Aldiko for reading,
MX and Meridian players for multimedia stuff,
Flash,
camera and videocam apps(?),
audio, video and photo editing SW,
Sopcast (TV channels) and "1Channel for Google" for audio-video streaming from the net,
...and so on,,, everybody continuing to fill it up according to their preferences, of course... all freeware/gratis!!!
Perhaps call it an "Alternative apps pack"???
So, maybe: when apps2sd card tool has been installed, we flash the "Alternative apps pack"... and it all goes to an SD card?
I think this might be a very cool idea, for many of us...
Go WoH and co.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :good:

Root access

Ok after i had some bugs, with the Android Revolution hd 34.0.
Like, can't download content from apps like Zedge, can't download photos that i received from Whatsapp. Couldn't take screenshot and connect my phone to computer to transfer media, or use Airdroid to transfer via WI-FI.
So, i checked out CM12 that i didn't liked at all. I love htc sense.. So, i gave it another try, wipe again and flashed Android Revolution hd once again but this time, i choose all tweaks.
And now everything works fine!
I can use Airdroid to transfer media, my computer recognize my phone, i can download content from Zedge ,can receive photos and video and download them from Whatsapp and i can take a screenshot.
I say all this to people that has same problem like i had and didn't know what to do.
Now i have only one problem so far, when i install freedom and sb game hacker, with freedom it's says something with don't support your device version.
With sb game hacker, it's ask for root access when i click grant it's says failed and quit the app. With greenify the root access works fine, and the root checker shows i have root.

Future root for marshmallow? Or not!

Saw this yesterday on xda tv and found article at UK info site concerning Chainfire.
Apparently Chainfire has come up with a whole new different approach to rooting once marshmallow becomes the standard.
At this point in time we will wait and see after we get marshmallow.

I wonder if it'll mean we can avoid tripping knox.
From what I read it sounds like this method circumvents firmware and security protocols.
It could be a knoxless process.
Pp.
The latest scoop, Chainfire has gone to the dark side.
He has sold out to some big entity (no name mentioned) and is pouring his recourses into this entity.
This is one way to stop tampering with your product, hire the person with the smarts to hack your product and make him work for you.
Rooting is going to have to wait for the next root savant.

Reading in the link I posted in op, followed some comments and links I came across what appeared to be a disgruntled modder.
Read for about 15min before I can across the post.
Edit***
It was in the Nexus 6 link taking you to xda.

I do not see what you're talking about. Can you be more specific? Maybe supply the link?

Here's a link and a copy of op where I found info on Chainfire defection.
WARNING: This is not a place for you to come to say how great you think Chainfire is. I'm not calling his character into question, only his methodologies and the character of the outfit he sold out to (and I don't question the act of selling out, that's business, pays the bills, and puts kids through college). The debates about what people prefer and why are as old as the first software. And of course, I will not tell you what to do, no matter how much I disagree with you. If you UNDERSTAND what I have to say, then THIS software is for you. If you don't, you are probably better off with binaries.
The root situation on Android 5.x left a lot to be desired. There was basically just one distributor of a functional substitute user command (su), and it was binary. Recently, ownership of that binary and all of its history has become the property of a previously unknown legal entity called "Coding Code Mobile Technology LLC". While it was presented as a positive thing that that entity has a great involvement with android root control, this is actually a VERY frightening development.
There are precisely two motives I can imagine for buying up all the root control software for Android;
1) monetizing it, which is contrary to the user's best interests,
2) something very frightening and dangerous involving the potential exploitation of everybody's devices.
You don't know the owners, and they are distributing a binary, so who the heck knows WHAT is going on.
Now a few important considerations with respect to your security and privacy;
1) Obfuscated binary cannot be sanely audited.
2) Function of this binary depends on the ability to manipulate selinux policies on the fly, including RELOADING the policy altogether and replacing it with something possibly completely different. Frankly, I've never heard a single reason why this should be necessary.
3) While a root control application may give you nice audits over other software that is using its service, it can *EASILY* lie about what it is doing itself. It can delete logs, it can share root with other applications that they have made deals with, it can directly sell you out to spammers, etc.
That is WAY too dangerous, and not worth the risk.
Frankly, you are safer if you disable selinux AND nosuid, and just run the old style of root where you set a copy of sh as 6755. And that is FRIGHTENINGLY dangerous.
So not satisfied with this state of root, and especially now with a new unknown entity trying to control the world, we bring you the rebirth of the ORIGINAL Superuser:
https://github.com/phhusson/Superuser
https://github.com/lbdroid/AOSP-SU-PATCH (this one is mine)
From the history of THAT Superuser:
http://www.koushikdutta.com/2008/11/fixing-su-security-hole-on-modified.html
Yes, look at the Superuser repo above and see whose space it was forked from.
Note: This is a work in progress, but working VERY well.
Use my patch against AOSP to generate a new boot.img, which includes the su binary.
Features:
1) selinux ENFORCING,
2) sepolicy can NOT be reloaded.
3) It is NOT necessary (or recommended) to modify your system partition. You can run this with dm-verity!
The source code is all open for you to audit. We have a lot of plans for this, and welcome suggestions, bug reports, and patches.
UPDATE NOVEMBER 19: We have a new github organization to... "organize" contributions to all of the related projects. It is available at https://github.com/seSuperuser
UPDATE2 NOVEMBER 19: We have relicensed the code. All future contributions will now be protected under GPLv3.
*** Regarding the license change; according to both the FSF and the Apache Foundation, GPLv3 (but not GPLv2) is forward compatible with the Apache License 2.0, which is the license we are coming from. http://www.apache.org/licenses/GPL-compatibility.html . What this means, is that it is *ILLEGAL* for anyone to take any portion of the code that is contributed from this point onward, and use it in a closed source project. We do this in order to guarantee that this VITAL piece of software will remain available for EVERYONE in perpetuity.

Don't think it's possible after last update.
Back in the beginning with 502 and first 511 update it was possible but updates patched exploits in kernel , not now. You either windup with tripped Knox or brick.
I'm a diehard rooter but have learned to live /like factory stock on this super phone.
With over 20 disable junk apps I get fenomenal battery life and trouble free functions on my phone the way root would make it in the past.
And that's all I want from this device.

Unless asked to do so, PLEASE don't PM me regarding support. Sent using The ClaRetoX Forum App on my Apple Macintosh.
I often play games on my android. These games really assist in spending short leisure times with fun.
Personally, I kinda liked gaming on Android - and also kinda hated it at the same time.
I liked it because there were good games despite their issues, such as:
Fate/GO (Good story, but plagued with gacha hell & unreasonable root detection)
SAO - Integral Factor (Fun, free, gacha hell)
Animus : Stand Alone (paid)
What I hated about gaming on Android:
License checking - Any paid games from Play Store ; for example, the aforementioned above Animus : Stand Alone, requires Play Store License checking. That, in my point of view, means that unless the owner of a paid game has signed in with the account they used to pay for the game, they may not play that game.
Gacha Hell - Includes Fate/GO & SAO - Integral Factor. Sure, with enough skill & experience, this issue may be bypassed. But, for the fanbase, getting the SSR they want in these games, for example, requires either sheer luck and/or real-time money. Sorry, but I'm not sorry to say this out.
CAPITALISM - sorry, gotta say that one in full caps. But, microtransactions.
Weird & Questionable root detection - Only on Fate/GO. Their root detection is so insane that Magisk dev topjohnwu discovered a security vulnerability - [url]https://www.xda-developers.com/procfs-leak-lg-oneplus-huawei-xiaomi-asus/[/URL]
Fortnite Mobile, a non-Play Store game, also suffers from this issue.
Not fun enough- Honestly, other than the 3 games I mentioned above & PUBG Mobile, I don't think any other Android games are fun enough. Sure, I can sidestep this issue by playing retro games with emulators, but, so far, the only good emulator is PPSSPP - DraStic, a DS emulator, requires Play Store license checking.
Mandatory Internet access - Most Android games are digital release only. Fate/GO & SAO-IF are also plagued with this issue, as both were incomplete on release. Sure, updates do fix bugs & add more content, but, single-player games requiring internet connection scares me about the future of gaming, especially on Android.
An example of a game that (kinda) bypasses this flaw : iPad's Infinity Blade series (discontinued & removed from App Store, unfortunately). The only times it actually needs internet access is for cloud saving. However, it still relies on the App Store; as it's a paid app (license checking).
